[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] So this is Hapshass? Bright eyes glanced about curiously, long red hair swinging gently with every step that the female took. They were right when they said the forest was beautiful here. She was in the middle of the forest right outside the port town, near one of the many rivers that forked in and out of each other. Leaning her head back, she breathed in deeply. It was a clear and bright day, and the smell of the forest pines and tree sap was a comforting scent. Genesis had always been an outdoors girl, and it felt good to be in the great outdoors, all by herself. [break][break] The young woman shielded her eyes from the bright rays of the sun. Today, her grey eyes looked almost emerald under the sunlight, and they sparkled as their owner sensed all the life force around her. That is, until she heard a rustle just ahead. Immediately, she stepped off the path and leaped towards a nearby tree, feeling the rough bark rub against her back. Grabbing the nearby shadows, she formed her knives, her trusty friends. She had also dropped down into a fighting stance, as per her habits. Knees slightly bent, she scanned the area where she had heard the rustle. [break][break] She noted that it was one of the more shadowy areas of the forest, as the trees overhead were effectively blocking out most of the sunlight. Instead of fear, however, a slight smile flickered across the femme’s face. She was perfectly comfortable in fighting in the shadows. In fact, the more, the better. With her blades in her hand and being surrounded in her element, she was not afraid. [break][break] As expected, a large mana beast stuck its head out, looking very much like a boar with its tusks and hairy hide. The human watched as it sniffed the air, trying to trace her scent. It swung its huge ugly head towards her, and for one frighteningly still second, they made eye contact. The beast grunted, and burst out into a run towards her. She kept her stance, and when the charging boar was about two meters from her, she leapt up, catching on to the branches above her and lifting her legs up. The boar could not stop its momentum in time to avoid the tree, and one of its tusks caught onto the trunk. She let go of the branch, and landing solidly on the balls of her feet, plunged her left knife right behind its neck, and the other one closer to the head. [break][break] The beast squealed and 'ukh'ed, emitting high pitched cries before its life force swiftly ebbed away, leaving behind only a scattering of mana dust. She leaned over to retrieve her knives, wiping them clean on her pants. "À tout seigneur tout honneur." She murmured. Human or animal, all life was to be respected and properly sent off. Throughout this brief scene of action, the girl had not sensed that she had an audience until now... [break][break][break]

"Breathe in and breathe out." Valo whispered to himself as he prepared for his meditation. He had grown frustrated in himself for not allowing enough time to focus on his meditation since he became a magic knight. It was just a little funny to him though on how seriously he took meditation now. He recalled when he was a kid and being shown how to meditate for the first, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Back then there was no way you were going to get a delinquent kid wrapped up in stealing and gang activity to sit down for a few hours and do nothing. It just wasn't going to happen. But eventually he finally started to change his mind, at first only using it to cause his teacher told him it was sure fire way to get more powerful. But overtime he actually started to appreciate it and what it did for him. His teacher wasn't entirely wrong though meditation allowed one to clear his or her mind of any negative thoughts or blockage. When one was free in mind it translated into overall performance on the field. Of course Valo was still young and seeking power and strength was always on the forefront of his mind, but in the back of his mind he did look forward to meditation for it's peacefulness.
The reason he came all they way out to Hapshass was to make use of the peaceful scenery. The forest was beautiful and quite serene that was one of the first things he noticed when he came here the first time with Artemis. It was actually his very first mission when they were tasked to take out some goblins and prevent them from taking over the forest. It must have a been a success since there wasn't a goblin in sight. Plus it was the perfect pit stop on his way back to Hage where the Green Mantis squad base was located. The base could be very lively at times and since now he had grown used to the base and it's members, they often liked to distract him and he could never really get his meditation done anyway. So the forest Hapshass seemed like the perfect opportunity. The former delinquent sat by a quiet river his legs folded in open palms coming together with his interlocking fingers as they rested in the center. He closed his eyes and let hid mind adrift.
About two hours had passed when Valo finally decided to open his eyes again, taking in one final breathe of air and let it out. "Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh." he let out standing on his two feet, stretching out his back. His body and mind felt equally refreshed and anew. Ready for new challenges and obstacles ahead. It had only been a week since he got his promotion as a magic knight he was making quick progress so now that his mind was clear he was more then ready for the series of jobs. Valo wasn't much of a guy with a plan, but he did have goals. As of right now his goal was to rise higher in the ranks till he was good enough to apply for the vice captain position. By the time he was ready for that Artemis would most likely become the new captain of the squad, facing her was inevitable not as enemies of course but as his higher up.
Valo scratched the back of his white hair and noticed it was getting just bit longer, his strands of hair came right over his blue eyes. He mad a mental note to get haircut soon. But his attention swiftly changed when sensed a nearby danger, it was probably just a mana beast but that didn't mean it didn't have its eyes on something or someone. Valo took off in dash towards the danger and did a series of hops to make his way up the trees, wanting to get a higher vantage point. As he made his way forward he noticed this side of the forest was getting darker, the sun was still out but there were so many trees blocking the sun light. He made quick stop on top of a large tree branch when he saw a young women in red hair leap up and grab a tree branch to avoid the mana beasts attack. "Ooooooooooooggghh." Valo said to himself impressed. It as clear she capable of using magic, her knives were made of the nearby shadows. "So she's like Fell." Valo said seeing another wizard use shadows to attack, like his good friend Fell. He made another mental note to check on his buddy when he had the free time.
He watched as the young women swiftly took out the beast, she was quick and deadly. No wasted effort in her movements, she was well trained from what Valo could tell. He did his best to stay quiet making his way toward her using the trees. When he was close enough he used his legs to grip the tree branch hanging upside down right behind the red headed mystery. "Hey! That was pretty coo-" he would say abruptly being interrupted when his long green mantis cloak flapped and covered his face. Clearly he didn't plan this.

[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Picking up the unnatural rustles in the trees above her, Genesis’ head shot up. Immediately, the young woman gathered nearby shadows and filled the area with them, making a hazy smokescreen to mask herself from any prying eyes. It was a force of habit, something she has done often when she was younger. After all, growing up with a so-called ‘cursed’ scar across her eye did not lend itself to a very pleasant and easy childhood. Ever since she was a little girl, she had always been drawn to the dark and to the shadows that always seemed to follow her. She would amuse herself by playing with those shadows, although she did not understand how she did it. After she grew up, of course, everything became more clear. At the very least, it gave her comfort of mind that her shadows could temporarily shield her from those critical and belittling stares. They were her refuge, her safe haven from the cruel world outside. [break][break] Using her smoke as what she hoped was a distraction, she swiftly circled back and around the tree she was just at, keeping her footsteps as soft and quiet as a passing breeze. Through the dim smoke, she could just make out a figure hanging upside down from one of the tree branches, right behind where she had just been. How did I not notice someone else was around? She was usually good at noticing things around her. The young woman frowned. She really should have been more on her guard - that would be corrected later, she would make sure of it. [break][break] Reprimanding herself inwardly, she made a note to herself to work on her ki more. She had started on her training, although she had only begun to really familiarize herself with sensing and circulating the forces around. Just the other day, she had made a personal break-through in her meditation, and was ecstatic at her progress. Although according to her old martial arts teacher, it was only the beginning of a never-ending journey. Those mere basics were like opening her inner eyes to the world around her, helping her see what truly was and what was just a passing fancy. She had learned much about herself that day, and would definitely continue her training whenever she had a day off. [break][break] Using her knives, the shadow mage used them to climb up the tree right next to where she just was. It was a slightly taller tree, with the lowest branch higher than she could reach. Her sharp blades gave her the grip she needed to climb up the trunk, and once she could reach the lowest branch, she grabbed hold of it and swung herself up. Then she quickly climbed up until she was on a slightly higher branch than the hanging person. [break][break] Keeping one foot grounded against the joint of the trunk and the other balanced on the branch, the red-haired female stared down at the intruder. She still had her knives out, not in a threatening stance, but in a position where she would be ready to flip them into action if needed. She let the shadows thin out, until the smokescreen dissipated. Now, if the newcomer flipped open the mantle that was blocking his vision, he would be greeted with the sight of the young female on the opposite tree, clear green-grey eyes staring down at him. [break][break] Those same eyes swept over the upside-down form, noting that the invader looked like a tall individual, judging by how far down he hung from the branch. At first, she stayed quiet, not replying to the invader’s comment from before. It was not in her nature to be talkative, and certainly not when she was caught off guard. After a few moments, however, she sighed. Common civility would demand some sort of response, and she would comply, although reluctantly. “Who are you?” Her tone was guarded, like she expected to be assaulted at any moment. “Why are you here? What do you want?” [break][break][break]

Valo who hung upside down and already embarrassed himself, soon had his entire vision blocked. But not from his own cloak no, this was a spell and illusionary one. Valo hated illusions, he didn't use them at all in his own arsenal but it was also one of his weaknesses. He slightly cursed himself when he saw nothing but a dense smog as he slightly lifted up his green cloak. He felt he always neglected his sensory training and now here he was paying for it. He figured quickly that the young women used the spell to get away after he may have startled her. It would make sense you can't just shout Hi at someone's back in the middle of a dark forest, after the said person just took down a mana beast with ease. It was just something you don't do, it wasn't proper forest etiquette. But that was just the way Valo liked to do things, but now he was paying for it. "Oh damn. Screw me." Valo muttered to himself.
After a few seconds Valo's vision would start to clear up, he moved his cloak even more but the red headed mystery was no longer standing in the same spot. Of course she wouldn't why would she? He thought to himself. He did tilt his head up and saw her on the opposite tree with a higher vantage point than him. "Ooooohhhh. Your'e slick too." Valo chuckled out. This girl was starting to remind him of someone he used to know back home, but he couldn't place his finger on it yet. Valo grabbed the branch he was hanging on with two hands and used it to swing himself upright, then he turned his body to get a better look at the girl while he sat in place on his tree branch. He got a good look at her grey-green colored eyes, that a bit of the sunlight hit. She had a scar on her on left eye, and her face was not only serious but focused as she held on to her knives. She definitely had her guard up. But that didn't bother Valo much he was used to it. Now that he was upright and could the girl in the face he would proceed to answer her questions.
"My names Valo. I'm a magic knight but that's not important." he said simply waving his right hand at her. "I come in pease. I promise." he said with a light laugh. "As for why I'm here and what I want. I was just hanging around no pun intended. Sensed some action going on and came over to make things were okay. I saw you in action and it was quite impressive. For what I want...I just wanted to say Hi." he said shrugging his shoulders, looking up at her.
"I would ask who you are stuff, but we might not get far." he said casually pointing towards the ground behind her at two more mana beast same type as earlier. Snarling as they creeped forward eyes on both Valo and the red headed mystery. Valo stood up on his tree branch and looked back up at his new acquaintance. "You wanna work together on this mana beast problem?" he asked her simply but didn't really wait for an answer as he jumped down back to the ground and started to face them both with a grin on his face.
[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Genesis realized that she must have acted like a skittish animal, bursting away in a frenzied state at the initial shock, then circling back in curiosity. However, the stranger did not seem bothered by any of it, even when she was completely on guard and wary of him. She would venture to guess that there was not much that fazed the guy, although she did not know of his thoughts towards her illusions. At least he seemed capable in his skills, considering that he had crept up on her without her noticing. Quite impressive, actually. But then again, she had not been using her ki, which was probably a good reason why he could have gotten so close. [break][break]
She watched him swing himself up until he was upright, and got a good look at the man. His white hair was fairly long and kind of covered his blue eyes, which she had to admit, were nice eyes. But what he was saying was baffling her. Just wanted to say hi? The red-haired femme tilted her head, not understanding. If he had said anything else besides that, she would have understood. However, just a hi...that was something entirely foreign to her, and she was thrown off. [break][break]
“Uh, hi?” She echoed back, albeit hesitantly. She had heard his earlier comments about her quick actions, and that made more sense. After all, if she was complimented for her skills, that meant her hard work was paying off. But just a simple friendly greeting? With nothing behind it? The world had not been kind to her, and she would lean towards being distrustful. What was his intention? What did he really want? Nobody just came out of nowhere and said hi. At least in the world she lived in, that did not exist. She would have to find out, and then decide what to do. [break][break]
At least he seemed truthful. The shadow mage could not sense any animosity from him, and he seemed fairly frank about himself, volunteering information that she would not have done if she was in his place. She nodded once, acknowledging his words, although she was a little reluctant to give out her name in return. Luckily for her, two more mana beasts had appeared, and had their sights on both of them. She raised an eye on his question to work together, but on second thought, decided that would be the best. She may be able to handle one by herself, but two would be more difficult. [break][break]
Watching him jump down, Genesis quickly accessed their situation. Ally on ground level with two enemies. She did not know what he was capable of, or what his fighting style was, but he must be confident in his abilities since he had jumped down like that. The young woman bent her knees slightly, and with her arms stretched out for balance, walked out on the branch that she had been standing on. It extended a little above the path, which would be perfectly above the creatures if they were closer. But nothing she could not handle. [break][break]
With a swift movement, she threw one of her knives right behind one of the mana beasts, causing it to startle and jump forward at the sudden movement. Without missing a beat, she leapt from the branch, and right on top of the boar. It was much like what she had done earlier. Landing smack dab on its back, her free hand gripped onto the creature’s hide, and the other plunged her other blade into the back of its neck. However, her hand had slipped a little, and it did not hit a critical spot. The creature let out a cry of rage, and tried to buck her off. She felt like she was riding a wild bull, and it was a bumpy ride. She could barely keep her grip on its back, even with her legs tightly wrapped around its side. As long as she could hold on for a little bit and… [break][break]
With a fierce rear, the creature successfully bucked her off its back, and she went flying. Genesis immediately bent herself into a flip, and was able to land on her feet, although a bit wobbly. She caught her breath, and grounded herself. Breathe... Getting back her balance, she watched the creature turn around, eyeing her with feral wildness at the pain she had inflicted. With a battle cry, it started charging at her. Encore une fois...one more time. A grin could be seen on the female’s face as she waited, and just as the creature was about to hit her, she grabbed its tusks and flipped up and back onto its back. This time, her thrust hit the point she wanted, and after one last enraged cry, it crumbled beneath her, heaving its last few breaths before it stopped altogether. [break][break]
Getting off the creature’s back, she brushed off the dust on her clothes, and looked over to where her ally was, wondering how his end was holding up. After all the action on her side, she had likely missed what he had done over there with the other beast, but now was her time to observe what he could do.

Valo chuckled lightly when the red headed mystery simply nodded in response to his question about the beast. She didn't like to speak much and she was very much on guard the whole time. Valo began to ponder where she was from, in Clover there were many different towns, lands, villages and places people called home. In those homes people can live very different lives from each other, some livelihoods were much more tougher than others. If Valo had to guess this girl grew up having it tough, he could tell just from her body language and tone. Now he wasn't the type to just make assumptions and just judge based on that alone, but he pretty good at putting things together. Especially after noticing her long scar on her eye, one doesn't just get born with a scar like that. She was tough and Valo made a mental note to keep his eye on her just to see how tough she was.
Aside from that a little of his thoughts were on the mana beast he was about to face, they were still a few meters apart so he didn't have to have his guard up entirely. From the looks of this beast while viscous and quite scary looking, Valo didn't take them that seriously. His body movements and aura were completely lax and calm as if he no worries in the world about the threatening beast in front of him. Valo was smart and capable at times, but other times he was arrogant, flashy and cocky. It wasn't his best side but it's who he was and he was never going to apologize for it. He lifted his arms up in the air as a smile appeared on his face looking at the mana beast. "Come on boy? You wanna go for a walk? Come on let's go." Valo said taunting the beast. The mana beast growls got more and more ferocious, snarling showing off it's long fangs its black eyes focused on Valo waiting to tear into him. Valo used his right arm and gestured with his hand for the beast to come, his left arm behind his back.
The beast wasted no time dashing toward him at it's full speed, but Valo proved to be the faster of the two. Simply sidestepping to his right just as the mana beast leapt to sink it's teeth into his shoulder. "Woah no need to be angry. We're out for a walk here. But does make me wonder why you are here in the first place?" Valo asked out loud. A random mana beast attack maybe, but two and so close to town something was up and it wasn't right. The beast charged in again losing patience, Valo kept on his toes swiftly avoiding the creatures attacks. He was focused but not completely, some of his attention was on the red headed girl to see how she was doing and how she handled herself. After seeing how she handled the creature he was impressed again, her movements were quick, precise and deadly it matched her. She had experience in combat and didn't waste her mana. It wasn't often Valo would find someone that fought similar to him in a way, using little mana and relying on physical abilities. Most people he met since becoming a magic knight just liked to fling spells around over and over. So seeing her fight bought a smirk to his face. But his smile would quickly turn into a gasp, as his last attempt of a dodge wasn't quick enough and the mana beasts claws had caught on his green mantis cloak cutting it's left side open. He slid back putting just a little distance between them.
Valo gasped after seeing the hole in his cloak. "This was my brand new cloak. Oh man." he said casually no real anger his voice more of a disappointed tone. "Well we had our fun." he said looking at the beast. This time they both charged towards each other Valo moving faster than before, his new lantern to thank for that giving him a decent boost in speed and swiftness. Right as he was about to face the beasts gapping maw, he spun his body to the beast right side landing a strong elbow strike to it's ribs breaking some. His attack didn't stop though as his left fist met it's jaw knocking it to the ground, in another swift movement he brought his leg up and swung it down in a axe kick ending the beast as it turned to simple dust of mana. "Sorry about that buddy. But it's too dangerous to leave you guys running around."
Valo bent down and placed his hand on the dust to pay his respects to the creature. He was never a fan of taking a life be it beast or not, but he did notice something about the dust it wasn't entirely natural. He picked some up in his fingers and brushed it a few times as it scattered and confused but focused look on him. After a few moments he turned towards the red headed mystery with a smirk on his face. "You can handle yourself very well in a fight. Where'd you learn to move like that?" he would ask with sudden interest.
[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Genesis had quietly murmured something to the disappearing mana form, uttering similar words to what she had said earlier to the first creature she had disposed of. After the little ritual was completed, she stood there with her hip cocked to the side, carefully watching how the man handled the mana beast. He certainly seemed like an arrogant one, which she had no problems with. As long as they had the skills to back up their confidence, she would say that was an ego well and duly placed. The only type of arrogance she detested were those who had everything at their disposal, yet did nothing with them. An example of that would be nobility who relied too heavily on their natural born talents or magic powers, and did not seek to improve them. She has only disdain for those who are lazy, especially those from comfortable upbringings. In her eyes, only those who were willing to work hard are deserving of her regard and respect. [break][break]
So far, she could see that her new ally was not someone who was lazy. That was a relief, as she found it difficult to stay in the presence of those who were. Although it was quite amusing to hear him make small talk to the beast. She had never seen someone do that, teasing and provoking it on purpose. Her fighting style was slightly different - she preferred to finish jobs cleanly and quickly, and not to waste her mana or movements unnecessarily. She had heard things about mercenary work, and those interested her. However, she was not rushing into that world just yet - she still had her high moral standards, and did not plan on compromising them anytime soon. [break][break]
The red-haired woman observed that the Magic Knight’s green mantle was torn. Somewhere along the provoking, it seemed like the creature had gotten the man back. However, he did not seem to be harmed, and his speedy reactions were impressive. He was even gutsy enough to charge towards the beast, as if he was like one of their own. His landing blows were full of well-aimed power, getting up close and personal to the enemy. It was similar to hers in that it was close combat style, with spells to enhance their physical prowess. Some of his moves reminded her of her old martial arts teacher, who was responsible for many of her current skills and moves. If it was not for his guidance, who knows where she would be now with her knives? Probably still struggling to aim at a tree, perhaps. [break][break]
With both intruders taken care of, the young femme sheathed her knives. That would be probably one of the best things that could happen. After all, he had proven himself just now, and she felt she could respect him enough as an equal. She watched as he picked up some of the mana dust, and studying it like it was abnormal. Was there something strange about it? She had not noticed anything in particular, but then again, she had not been looking for anything odd. She was about to ask him about it, but stopped when he posed a question. Well, a compliment and a question. [break][break]
“As do you.” She said, returning the favor. Though her tone may not show it, she honestly meant it. He did look like someone who had a background of experience, and she honored that. “I imagine it’s the same as the other professionals. A good teacher, personal training, and watching others.” She could offer her name, at least. “Name’s Genesis, but you can call me Gen.” A pause. “Where did you learn those kicks?” She was not a very good conversationalist, but she would try. For the sake of civility. She would be lying if she was not a tiny bit curious on his moves. She was always looking to develop and enhance on her own skills - after all, there was no such thing as an end to improvement.

The red headed mystery responded to him, her tone though was different. At least different from other people he has met, her tone was very to the point in a serious way. Where as Valo's tone most of the time was very lax and at times playful. She returned his compliment with one of her own, it wasn't rare for ones that partake in the martial arts to notice the tiny details about one another and comment on them. In fact Valo had missed these types of conversations, he hadn't had one since back home in Kikka where he learned to fight the way he does. She answered his question with a pretty simple enough answer, a good teacher, personal training and watching others. It didn't get much more complicated then that he supposed and a light chuckle escaped him thinking that very thought. But finally he got her name, Genesis.
"Aaahhh so Gen it is then!" he said with a smirk. She then followed up with a question of her own about his kicks in particular, it caught Valo off guard just a little. Given her demeanor he didn't think she would take any interest in where he learned to fight, but then he remembered most good fighters are always curious always asking questions always trying to learn something new. In this aspect they would probably share a similar mindset, and why not share what he learned over the years.
"My teacher back home she taught a bit over everything in regards to the basics." Valo said his voice getting more and more excited as he spoke.
"But once she said to absorbs what is useful, discards what is not and add what is uniquely your own. I started to play around with different methods of kicking, the legs being naturally stronger and longer then arms I always kind of favored using them as a finishing touch. Aahh sorry I'm rambling." he started to slow down his speech, before he got himself too worked up. The young magic knight could talk about martial arts and overall combat for days without end. Sometimes he did in fact, but it would always end up with the person on the other end growing beyond tired of the conversation. So he kept it short.
He paused then almost instantly remembered something. "Sorry again. But the beast you fought earlier and just now. Did you notice anything in particular about them. Anything weird? I ask because when a mana beast dies the mana itself dissolves into a mist like state, blue in hue and it will flow and dissolve back into the earth. Like a cycle of sorts. But these mana beasts are different the dust they leave behind while it has hints of blue, it's mostly grey and it's substance is a lot thicker." he paused, then continued on. "Also the fact that mana beast don't attack this close to actual civilization, mana beast attacks in Hapshass are nearly unheard of."
Valo's thumb and index finger were on his chin as thought to himself. The more he thought about it, the more he could tell something wasn't right. Genesis and Valo would fail to notice something watching them in the distance, it would be way out of range for the sensory to pick it up. But a grey and blue colored vulture was spying on the two, it's long claws gripped onto a tree branch. It's blue eye looked anything but normal. It was clear they were being watched.
[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Genesis was curious as to why the man was still hanging around—most people would quickly make their exit after seeing the scar across her eye. After all, she was found with the scar already there when she was a babe, leading most to see her as a cursed child. Hence, she had learned to love and embrace solitude. But once she grew older, there were fewer questions about the mark, as it was easier to assume that she was in some unlucky accident or fight. Whatever people thought, the young woman usually said nothing about it, and even if they asked, she would just let them assume what they wish. After all, it was not like she was trying to impress anyone. [break][break]
She did, however, raise an eyebrow at the other’s flamboyant and playful attitude. Not that she had a problem with it, but she was not used to being such types of company. She certainly did not mind it when he started sharing about what his teacher had taught him in the past. “Those are good words of advice.” She nodded, agreeing with what he was saying. “Flexibility to your own style is important, as well as adapting to your surroundings.” When he apologized about rambling, she shook her head, surprising herself. “Sharing is not rambling.” If he was going to talk on and on about martial arts and combat positions and styles, she was all for it. After all, that was totally up her alley. [break][break]
“What else did your teacher instruct you on? Position? Balance? Strength?” Her teacher in particular had been big about balance and flexibility, and was the one who taught her how to align herself and find her core. He had guided her through many exercises that she now did on the daily, making sure that her inner ki was flowing right before she started the day. [break][break]
Then he started talking about the beasts they had just encountered. Her grey-green eyes glowed as he brought up the things he had noticed about them. Come to think of it, the mana had seemed a little strange, but she had been preoccupied with watching the other fight going on. “Now that you mentioned it, it did seem a little off.” She was fairly new to the area, but she believed what he said about the mana beasts’ unusual appearance. Any type of wild creatures showing up so close to any village was something to be concerned about. Though Hapshass was surrounded by the forest, it is also a port town, with many people coming in and out all the time. Not only was there traffic on land, but also on the rivers that snaked through the woodlands. She nodded slowly to herself. Yes, he did have a point there. [break][break]
“What can make the natural unnatural?” She murmured. It was more of a rhetorical question than anything else. “There must also be a reason why. No one disturbs the balance of life unknowingly.” If it was indeed true that there was something—or someone—behind this strange occurrence, Genesis was keen on finding out what it was. Based on her personal opinions, she was leaning towards a ‘someone,’ as only those with a motive would dare mess with the natural world. “Perhaps we should go back to town and see what we can find.” Without another word, she started down the path back towards town, assuming that the Magic Knight would follow. If he did not—well, she was going, regardless of his decision. [break][break]
All this time, she had not noticed that they were being observed. She would not have picked anything up, as the spy was above them on the trees, and was anything but human. Assuming the two mages left the area, it would flap its wings, lifting itself up above the trees. Its blue eye glowing with an unnatural light, it tracked the duo's movements back towards civilization. Then, its powerful wings carried it up higher into the sky as it flew in another direction, perhaps to report back to whoever was controlling it. [break][break]
Back down below, the red-haired mage carried on thoughtfully. Whoever was behind this, she doubted it would be easy to find. Something unnatural... The only thing she knew that could produce such imbalance was some type of drug...or specialized breeding. It was a good thing that Hapshass was well known for its healers and potions, but at the same time, it was also going to be difficult, as there were many apothecaries in the port town. Any one of them could be producing something questionable, something immoral. She would not want to go into every single shop and ask the owner of their dealings—there must be a better way...she just has not thought of it yet. Turning to her companion, she asked for his thoughts on all this. “What do you think about it? Any theories?”
Valo's interest piqued even more when Genesis informed that she didn't see his talking as rambling, instead it was sharing. Even her sudden interest surprised him a little, she had asked earlier sure but now she seemed genuinely interested in continuing the conversation. Which Valo was more than happy to continue, but perhaps on the way unfortunately there was a bit more pressing matters. He made a mental note of it though. "Psshhh all that stuff. Positioning, adapting, balancing, strength, speed. All of it. Balancing and adapting to every structure was always difficult for me. What helped was the meditation. I never considered myself a meditating kind of guy, but...it works in this weird way. When you free yourself of all the negative and make yourself free completing a task and focusing on it becomes...easier." Valo added to the conversation.
As Valo was in the middle of thought he heard Genesis's questioning the strange beasts as well. Her confirmation on noticing something strange only further fueled his suspicions. He had to figure it out, even if it led to nothing it was worth it. Nothing was really planned for today anyways, at least the rest of the day. Right now it was time to get to work, and figure out what exactly was going on. Upon hearing Genesis's comment to head back into town, Valo would nod in agreement but she didn't bother waiting for a response. Valo caught himself smiling, she was headstrong and it looked like determined as well. He didn't know here well but he was beginning to admire her. Before he took off behind her, Valo pulled out a empty tube from one of his pockets on his second belt. Carefully he bent down and scooped up some of the remaining mana dust left behind one of the beast. He wasn't sure if he was going to need it, but it didn't hurt to have it just in case. He placed the tube back into his pocket and added an extra pep in step to catch up to Genesis.
"I guess I won't have to ask you to join me." He mentioned now catching up to her. He was planning to ask if she wanted to join him on this little adventure he now found himself in. But was pleased he didn't even have to, that also said a lot about her character. They arrived back in the main port town of Hapshass, the town known for it's healers and apothecaries which was a curse and blessing. If something truly unnatural was going on Hapshass wasn't a bad place to start, while it was place for healing it could equally be a place for something sinister. Not all healing methods were good ones. But at the same time there was many healers in this town, knocking on the door of every single one was a task that could take multiple days. It seemed his companion was also in a similar headspace, turning to him and asking if he had any theories.
Truth be told Valo had just a few, but nothing he was really willing to bet on. He could only rely on his experience as a magic knight at this point, while it hasn't been to long it would have to be enough. He remembered his first job here with Artemis, along the way she told him she grew up in Hapshass so the town was pretty special to her. But in that conversation she mentioned other things about certain townsfolk that liked to pry. Valo paced back and forth just for a second or two trying to remember something. Suddenly he stopped slapping his his fist against his open palm. "Ha! I remember! My Vice captain Artemis Somerset. She was telling me one day about certain shopkeeps who loved to spy and gossip. One of them was Fishy Joe. Or just Joe I guess. Our best bet is to stop there and ask if he's seen anything weird. If anything weird is happening Joe is most likely to have seen it, or at least give us something to work with." Valo said starting to walk over to Fishy Joe's Shop. It wasn't far just a short walk, but the smell of fish would get a tad bit stronger as they approached.
His shop was small compared to the others, with fish and jelly fish hanging around all over the shop. Apparently Fishy Joe specialized in healing but, his practice involved the use of different types of fish in order to heal certain sicknesses or injuries. He wasn't popular for his medicine practices but he got by. Valo covered his nose with his cloak, his fish allergy still present but nowhere as bad as it used to be. He would be able to hold it together for the most part. Valo peeked in the window to make sure Joe was there, and saw him cutting up some fish and pouring some kind of liquid in small bottles. Valo made a disgusted face, before turning towards Genesis. "Alright we can probably head on in and ask him a few questions. I don't know him well but he might be more inclined to speak if he's sees I'm a magic knight. Hopefully we get some answers."
Valo took a deep breath, not cause was nervous but the smell of fish just made him nauseous. He opened the door for Genesis first and would walk in behind her. Joe with the look of excitement on his face, probably because some new customers finally stepped foot in his store. He hoped to his feet he was a short and stubby man, really short in fact. Most likely a dwarf, long dark sideburns coming down the side of his face and a puffy nose. He had a dirty brown shirt and some blue overalls over it, on his feet were knee high black rubber boots he most likely used for when he was catching new fish. "Customers!! Welcome! Welcome! What brings you to my shop today!! I have a new batch of fish oils in today perfect for helping you with any stomach problems!" he said with excitement.
Valo stepped forward wanting to get to the point quickly. "Actually no were here cause we have a few questions."
Joe looked disappointed "Questions! Questions! That's all anybody comes here for! You know I run a good business too! And Nobody ever wants to try any of my potions! It's good stuff I tell ya!! Good stuff! I ain't telling nobody nothing about anything anymore!" he said in short tantrum using his short legs to walk back to his chair.

[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Genesis nodded in understanding as she listened to the knight’s explanations of his training. “Meditation has many benefits, and it’s a huge part of ki training.” That was something she had recently been working on. Before, when she was still training under her martial arts mentor, she had not really understood everything that he was trying to teach her. It was not until a few days ago that she had a personal breakthrough—It took a while, but it finally happened after several hours of deep concentration and recollection. Granted, it was only the very basics of understanding ki, but she was off to a good start. It was just a pity that her old teacher was not there to see it; she was sure he would have been very proud of his pupil. [break][break] As she started down the path, Genesis at first noticed that she did not hear footsteps behind her. She did not turn her head, but listened carefully. After a few seconds, there was the sound of hurrying steps to catch up to her. Her sharp eyes noticed a little dust on his knees—she would guess that he had stooped down on the ground for some reason. She doubted it was from the fight from before, so it must have just happened. Perhaps he was collecting a sample of the mana dust? It would be a good move on his part if he did. However, she did not say anything, only continued her easy walk towards town. Grey-green eyes looked over towards her side when the mage started talking again. [break][break] “That would not be necessary.” She said, referring to his comment about her joining him on this adventure. Though her tone was completely serious, there was an amused flicker in her eyes. Anything that concerned the natural world was of a concern to her. After all, her ki relies heavily on the earth and its elements, and if that was disturbed, so would her energy flow. They were all connected, and she could not, and would not, let anything disturb the perfect order of nature. [break][break] Entering Hapshass, the Magic Knight seemed to know where to go. A fish seller, he said. Fishy Joe, that suits him. Genesis smirked at the thought as she followed him. She noted how confident he seemed even though he must also be making decisions on the fly. Which was perfectly fine, so was she. She was not the type to plan too much ahead; as far as she was concerned, she had all the time in the world. She was not a mercenary, not a Magic Knight...just a wandering citizen at this point. Perhaps she would try her hand at the next Magic Knight exam; she had heard that it was when they typically accepted new recruits. It would be worth more thought later on, but first, to the matter at hand. [break][break] Her companion had been right when he said it was a fish seller. Actually, it seemed more of a fish-based apothecary. That was something new. She knew of fishermen who sold their catches, but never an entire apothecary with its potions made from fishes. The red-haired woman shook her head. It just shows how much creativity people could have. She watched as the Magic Knight peeked through the window, making sure that his guy was in there. “Can’t hurt to try,” she shrugged. This was her first time in Hapshass, so she did not know anything about the inhabitants here. She dipped her head in thanks when Valo held the door for her. If anything, he was a gentleman, despite his rogue-like attitude. [break][break] As she entered the shop’s threshold, the heavy scent of fish assaulted her nose. Out of respect to the shop owner, she did not put her hand up to cover her nose, but her nose did wrinkle out at the overpowering smell. Her companion had a strange look on his face—she would probably ask him about that later. She noted the different types of aquatic animals hanging around the shop, including jellyfishes. She drew near to look at one, as she had never seen one before. The one she was looking at was dried out and yellowed, but still retained most of its semi-translucent form. However, she turned towards the shopkeeper when he started his excited welcoming speech. Valo had gotten straight to point, which she appreciated. However, the dwarf did not. Genesis sighed silently to herself. So they would have to do this the long way. [break][break] “The only question I have is, what kind of uses does this jellyfish have?” She pointed to the one she had just been looking at earlier. [break][break] The short man turned around immediately. “Arthritis! Helps with the muscles! Has lots of collagen and calcium! As for you, missy,” he hopped closer until he was only a stride away from the woman, “Perfect for beauty treatments, veeeery helpful with aging!” He peered curiously at her face. “I daresay it’ll also help with that scar of yours!” [break][break] Genesis had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. She doubted anything would heal that scar across her eye. It was something she had ever since she was a babe. If it was a recent cut, it would be more probable, but that is besides the point. She was not really interested in what kind of benefits the jellyfish had, she was only trying to loosen the man’s tongue so they can get more information from him. “I see. Do you have any type of potions that could...say...” she was pausing for emphasis, and lowered her voice like she was confiding in him, “Alter an animal? Maybe subdue them?”

Valo let out a quiet sigh after Joe finished his little tantrum speech. Now getting the information, or possibly getting some info was going to be a job within itself. Valo wasn't prepared to jump into a whole adventure today, not that he wasn't fully committed to it. It just wasn't on the list of objectives today, but he didn't many things on his list today anyways so he was better off handling whatever was going on in Hapshass. Valo couldn't blame the dwarf either, he didn't have the most luxurious shop for potions and healing but it was a shop nonetheless. He had a business to run no doubt, probably mouths to feed at home things of that nature. While being the primary source for most info in Hapshass probably granted him some coin, it probably wasn't enough to truly make the ends meet. So Valo felt for the little guy.
Am I getting soft?
Valo thought to himself, while Genesis engaged the little man in some conversation. She began to show some interest in some of the jellyfish he had hanging around his store, the mere sight of them made Valo a tad bit queasy. He was probably always going to have that same reaction when it came to fish, and other sea life. Joe started to sell her on how that particular jellyfish fluid could help with muscles it had all sorts of benefits and could even help with aging. Valo chuckled just a little bit to himself, his cloak covering his nose would hide it to make sure he wasn't caught.
Fishy Joe then stated it could help with her scar, bringing some attention to it. Valo noticed it of course but he didn't think much about it, it wasn't his place to assume or ask questions of that matter especially to someone he just met. But if he did have an opinion on it, he thought it matched her and she shouldn't get rid of it. Not all scars are ugly some could have quite the opposite effect Valo thought to himself. But Valo took a few steps forward when Genesis had asked the winning question, in a very smart to add as well. He already stated he wasn't going to give out information just willingly, but perhaps he could be tricked just a little to giving some info out without him knowing it. Valo smirked he was truly impressed with Genesis, it was clear she knew she wasn't new to this sort of stuff.
Fishy Joe placed his hand to his chin as he entered a deep thought, rummaging through his head if he did indeed carry something like that. After a few seconds that may have felt like much longer he finally answered. "No...no I don't believe I have anything like that. Alter and subdue animals?? Oh! Oh! How could I forget! For subduing animals yes! Very much yes!" he hopped off his chair and quickly went towards the back of his shop. "Though I will be honest!! Many people decide not to buy it..." he started to shout from the back, he quickly returned carrying a large brown box of jars. "Because of the funny smell and the mess it leaves behind. But! But! it's not all bad the smell tends to lead wild animals to it instead of away from it. Kind of weird I know!" Joe said holding up one of the jars to show them, inside the jaw was just a dark grey like slime.
Valo raised one of his eyebrows looking at the jar. "May I?" he asked holding his hand out, wanting to examine the the contents inside. Joe handed him the jar happily, letting Valo take a good look at it. He quickly loosened the lid and took a quick sniff, it wasn't a terrible smell but it was certainly an odd one. It made his nose twitch a few times. "It is a funny smell. You wanna take a whiff?" Valo asked Genesis, holding the jar towards her just in case she wanted to take a look.
"Yeah. Yeah I know. It's from a certain jelly fish I used to catch, but I don't see them out much anymore when I go out to sea. It's no trouble though because only one person really buys it from me. These are just the last jars I have left, after he bought a huge stock of em." Joe said sparingly without a care in the world. This little tid bit of information intrigued Valo, he was going to ask something but Joe continued. "He must have came up with some kind of trick with this stuff to make good use of it."
Valo leaned in just a little more. "What's this guys name? Maybe he could help us out on how to use it?" the white haired mage would ask.
Fishy Joe pondered for a bit before answering. "I'll tell ya exactly where his shop is if you buy some jars!" he said crossing his arms, and raising his chin up. It was clear he was not going to change his mind on the subject. Valo chuckled, again he thought he couldn't blame the guy. "Thats fair can't be mad at that. I'll take a few." Valo answered while placing some coin on the table, probably more coin then need be but Valo was feeling generous. Fishy Joe eyed the coins looking more than pleased.
"His name is Tucker Shou, he has a typical apothecary shop a few doors down from here going left. Can't miss it it's kinda creepy looking." Joe said placing some of the jars in tote bag for Valo, then immediately counting the coins that Valo left.
Valo took the bag and nodded. "Well thanks fishy Joe, for all the help!"
[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] To her surprise and satisfaction, the shop owner continued rambling on, giving them the information they needed. Not only that, he seemed to be the main one who supplied the mystery target, whoever the latter was. Genesis looked closely at the box of jars Fishy Joe brought out from the back of the shop. The jars seemed to be filled with some sort of gooey substance; it looked squishy, almost, and was dark grey in color. As her companion unscrewed the lid, she could see a strange look cross the Magic Knight’s face. She took the proffered jar, and delicately sniffed the top of it. It seemed musty and slimy, like it was in the process of fermenting. She screwed it back shut and handed it back to Fishy Joe. At least it did not have a particularly strong odor. Distinct, but not overwhelming. That was something to keep in mind. [break][break] The red-haired female raised an eyebrow when the fish seller mentioned something about someone buying a large amount of these jars from his inventory. Hmm, he sold a huge stock of them? Very useful info. She was glad that they were able to get so much from him; now they had a lead. Her ears perked up in interest when Fishy Joe mentioned something else about the buyer. The young woman nodded her approval when Valo bought a few jars. She had to give it to the man—he could do business, and also knew how to ask the right questions. It also helped that money loosened up a certain tongue. The more info they can get, the better. [break][break] “Tucker Shou.” She muttered under her breath, and made note of that name. Nodding her head in thanks at the fish seller, she pushed the door open and held it, seeing how her companion was holding that bag of jars. She inhaled deeply. It was such a relief to be able to smell fresh clean air again. Granted, it had not been that bad inside the apothecary shop, but she preferred the smell of the great outdoors over any other type of scent. Assuming that the Magic Knight was right beside her, Genesis walked down the street, to their left, as Fishy Joe had said. She craned her neck, reading the shop signs as they passed. [break][break] After passing a few storefronts, she stopped in front of what appeared to be the one the fish seller had been talking about. It was covered with dark graffiti, with white skulls painted over the window, obscuring any passerbyers’ view of the inside. The sign that hung above their heads had a barely discernible picture of a raven, with the faded letters “Tucker’s Tonics” right below it. [break][break] “Shop number two looks...intimidating.” A small smirk appeared on her face, then faded just as quickly as it appeared. She reached out her hand for the bag with the jars. “May I have it for a second?” If her companion would hand her the bag, she would take it and disappear into the alley right next to the shop. Clear eyes scanned the dark pathway, looking for something. Ah, there. There was a niche in the crumbling wall, perfect for hiding what they just bought. Bending down, she tied the tote handles together, and rolled it up before carefully placing it into the hole. For extra safety, she tied one of her shadows to it, using it to cover the bag. [break][break] Perfect. Standing back up, she brushed the dirt from her knees and strode back out to the street, back to where she assumed Valo was still standing. “Best not to let Tucker know that we have some of his stock, hmm?” Without another second of hesitation, the redhead pulled the door open. Instantly, a puff of dark smoke engulfed them, and she had to take a step back. Whatever that smoke was, she was glad she had not inhaled it. [break][break] “Close the door behind you! Quick!” Said the voice from inside. Genesis quickly crossed through the threshold. Keeping one hand over her nose and mouth, she waved her free hand in front of her face, trying to see through the smog. When some of it had settled down, she could make out a dim shape of a man behind the counter. The shop owner was tall and spindly, and had on a dirty lab coat. “Come in! Apologies, but a moment, please! I’m about to discover a new potion that the world has never seen before!” [break][break] She took a cautious step into the shop. There were vials filled with colorful liquids all around the room, and some were even bubbling. Some of those glass jars seemed to have something else floating in them. She walked closer to one of them...them immediately wished she did not. Something like an eye was staring back at her, and she could have sworn it was still alive. [break][break] Blinking rapidly, she turned her attention back to the sideboard, where the store keeper was. The counter was littered with used phials, some standing up, some were on the verge of rolling off the table. The skinny man was hunched over one of them, and seemed to have forgotten about his customers’ presence. Genesis bit her lip. She did not want to disturb the scientist in his work, whatever he was doing, but at the same time, she was feeling uneasy with the floating eyeballs around the shop. She glanced over to her companion, wondering what he thought of all this. [break][break][break]

The two finally left the shop, Genesis holding the door open for Valo as he walked through holding the bag of jars. He had no idea why he bought so many, they probably only needed one for reference. He thought he looked quite silly holding the bag, but he didn't care cause he was finally out of that shop. He couldn't stand the smell of the place, it wasn't really Fishy Joe himself though he did note the guy had a little strange smell to him. But just the over abundance of fish and jelly fish was enough to make Valo's nose turn away, and his allergic reactions start to spike. He did have to admit though, he was much more resilient now compared to the past. All those adventures out in the sea fighting pirates and steering ships may have had something to do with that. He pulled his cloak down that was covering his nose. "Aaaahhh finally out of that place, it was killing me to hold it together in there. I hate the smell of fish." he said out loud following behind Genesis as they made their way towards the next shop.
Eventually Genesis stopped looking at a peculiar store front called "Tucker's Tonics." Valo chuckled to himself, it was a catchy name he guessed. The shop itself looked anything but welcoming covered in graffiti and other markings, white skulls over the windows clearly this guy didn't care much about the overall appearance of his store. "It truly does." Valo responded to the red heads comment about the shop looking intimidating. She then reached out for the jars and asked for them, Valo would have no issues giving her the bag."Yeah sure, here." He wasn't sure what she was going to do with it, but he had no plans. She took it and headed into the alley way right next to the shop. Valo leaned against the side of the alley way wall watching her hide the bag quite well. She was smart, Valo had to give it to her she was probably the brain of the two. Valo hadn't thought of that, he would walked in there bag and jars in hand to raise suspicion.
She wasted no time heading into the store, upon opening it a puff of dark smoke engulfed them. Valo quickly pulled his cloak over his nose not wanting to inhale whatever that smoke may be. It could be harmless but then again, it could not be now was not the time to take that chance. A voice shouted to close the door quick, but Valo did just the opposite taking his time to close the door. He didn't like being told what to do especially from a stranger, and he thought it would be best to let out the smoke at least as much as he could before finally closing the door behind him. Getting a good look at this shop and it's owner Valo did not have a good feeling about this. Weird objects and body parts in multiple jars all around the room, some weird bubbling liquids in some. Phials and needles scattered over tables, this place was very uneasy.
Valo took a glance towards his companion it was clear she unnerved by all this, something was definitely up with this guy. But he had to push forward for some questions maybe get some answers. Valo took a few steps forward peeking into what Tucker was possibly working on. "A potion the world has never seen before? Whats that about?" Valo would ask, to only be met with silence for the first few seconds. Eventually he got an answer, Tucker didn't bother to look up at him though.
"You'll seeee." he replied his voice getting deeper. "Trust me you'll want to se. You aalll will want to see." he said pausing before speaking again. Valo now confident that this may the guy they were looking for, stood in front of Genesis. He knew she could defend herself if need be, but he was a magic knight it was just in his nature to defend the ones around him. If something were to happen he wanted to make sure he could defend her, to him she was still a civilian and her safety came before his own. His eyes narrowing down at exactly what Tucker was working on, Valo was no scientist or potion maker so he had no clue. But he was starting to figure it wasn't any good.
"I know why you two are here... Do you want to see??" Tucker said his speech becoming more confusing, no longer hunching over now holding something in his hand. A phial of sorts from what it looked like.
[attr="class","hallowedbreezes-section"] [break] Genesis glanced warily around her. The knight had stepped in front of her, although she was not quite sure why. She would not mind the extra barrier between her and the shopkeeper, however. She was wondering what this odd guy could be up to, and it seemed like her companion was of the same mind. For a few seconds, there was no reply. But when it finally came, it was just as vague as the man itself. Not much unnerved her, but her gut instinct told her something was not quite right here. [break][break] Her suspicions were confirmed when the potion maker straightened up and held up a phial. No matter how strange and queer the situation was, she was not the type of show fear. The young woman only raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “And?” She prompted, not seeing the point. She was no scientist, and had no idea what that liquid was. Even when Tucker said that he knew why they were there, Genesis kept her countenance devoid of emotion, though she wondered what he actually knew. [break][break] “The knowledge is mutual.” She was tempted to roll her eyes, but caught herself just in time. “But sure, what kind of award-winning potion did you make today?” Was she the one buffing, or was he? She was not quite sure, but she had no chance to think more, as the shopkeeper had started talking again. [break][break] “Power!” Oddly enough, Tucker did not seem the slightest bit perturbed at her obviously sarcastic comment. Instead, a strange light had come into his eyes, and he waved his arms around manically. “I have made power!” His abrupt actions knocked over a few glass containers and they crashed onto the floor. He did not even seem to notice the broken glass crunching beneath his boots. [break][break] “What do you mean?” Genesis took a step back, but not before tugging at the knight’s mantle. Something told her they needed to get out. Fast. [break][break] Tucker brought out another jar. She saw that it was the same thing that she and Valo had just bought earlier. “Watch!” He unscrewed the jar, and she realized that he was going to pour the concoction in. [break][break] Something screamed inside her. Don’t let him! Instantly her shadows snapped into her hands and formed into her knives. With a swift motion, she threw one of her blades at the vial, and true to their mark, hit the glass and broke it. The liquid spilled everywhere, but thankfully, none got inside the jar. [break][break] “WHAT!! You little—” [break][break] In the back of her mind, she could recall hearing an enraged roar and rush of wings, but she was already pushing the door open and out into the streets, dodging some people and aiming to get lost in the crowd. If the maddened man was going to chase them, he would have to come out and face them outside. She had a hunch that he was not going to confront them in public, and certainly not with so many witnesses around. For once, she was glad for the townspeople milling around, though many gave her curious stares as she dodged past them. When she thought she was far enough away from the shop, the red-haired femme slowed down to a walk. Assuming that her companion had gotten away and had run in a similar direction with her, she would turn around and face him. [break][break] “Sorry ‘bout that.” Her tone was anything but apologetic, though. She did not regret what she did, as she had acted purely on instincts, and they were rarely wrong. “We’ll have to retrieve the jars another day, so I think it’s best that we split up for now. It’ll be safer, I think.” Whoever Tucker was, she would have to keep an eye on him. Or rather, keep an eye out for him. She figured that she had just spilled a valuable potion of his experiment—whatever it was—and doubted that he would let her little action go unpunished. [break][break] “Let’s say we meet up here in a week or so? I’ll be around the area.” She hesitated for a second, then flashed him a quick smile. He was interesting, and she found that she did not mind his easy-going, if not roguish, personality. “Valo, right? See you around.” Giving him a short nod, she turned and sauntered along the street, disappearing into the crowd. It was an abrupt farewell, but being the independent soul she was, she did not feel beholden to stay any longer than necessary. Besides, she would guess that he was not the type to let the matter rest, not until he has gotten to the bottom of things. It was a good thing, because neither was she. For all she knew, she would cross paths with this Green Mantis knight again soon. [break][break] Little did she know how soon that would be. [break][break]
