Azure eyes lit up at hearing her companion’s mention of green tea. "Jasmine green tea is my go-to in the summer!" She clapped her hands in excitement. "Green tea is considered cooler in nature, while black tea is considered warm, so any type of green tea is perfect in hot weather!" Whether the other girl knew it or not, she was an avid tea drinker. It was almost as important to her as reading books. Almost.
As Suna summoned her harp, she noticed that Verena’s aura had shifted. Even though she was sitting right next to her, the elf did not exactly see how or to what kind of expression, but she could sense that something had changed. However, she kept on playing on her harp, temporarily lost in its comforting lull. It was for herself as much as for the other girl. As she softly ended the piece and the spell, she gently moved her harp to the side and relaxed.
"Wind magic? I suppose so." The blue-haired girl hummed in thought. "Both wind and sound are pretty abstract elements, since both are more felt than seen. Wind is much more common, though, and I think easier to understand." She had recently met a wind user, and a senior grand mage at that. The spells that she witnessed were definitely powerful, and she had been blown away by its ferocity and power. Obviously, much was attributed to the rank of the mage, but seeing the display had given her more insight as to her own element.
"What you said just now were all right." Suna had to smile at the girl’s detailed observations. She was much the same, although she usually kept those thoughts to herself. "Is there something you would like to see?" She plucked one of the strings, watching the shimmer of mana and magic come alive and swirl about before dissipating. "My spells are quite odd, actually, as they attack, restrain, and heal." Not only was the elf herself a paradox, so were her abilities, a strange mix of seemingly opposite properties.
She got her harp ready again, and gave a nod to her companion. "What do you want to study first?"

Verena was definitely not as big a tea enthusiast as her blue haired companion here, but frankly, she was glad to see the girl had many things she was passionate about. She knew she enjoyed green tea more than other types of teas, but to her green tea was green tea. She hadn't paid much attention to the type of tea; in fact, she barely had that much knowledge. Still, based on this level of enthusiasm, if she hadn't known how much Suna loved tea prior, she certainly did now.
Verena scratched her cheek, wondering if the implications of what she said were lost, or if she simply misunderstood what Suna was implying. All other elements were born of the four basic elements. Or, at least, so it was said. There were some very abstract elements that existed, some that'd be quite hard to classify. But those were few and far between. But regardless, if sound was an element that branched off from wind, it'd only make sense that Wind was more common. It was one of the four basic elements.
It was reassuring to know she was right, however. Knowing how the magic flowed and what it was meant to do would make it easier to channel it. Golems were constructs of pure mana, given form based on the proper element associated with them. To Verena, it was easier to think of it as creating the necessary mana; rather, summoning it, that could be used to form the golem. She wasn't born with these elements, after all.
The elven girl gave her a choice. Healing, restraint, or attack magic to view. In truth, as curious as she was about healing magic, it wouldn't be as easy to gauge what it was doing in comparison. Restraint magic might have more of a 'form' that she could use, but it wouldn't leave a strong imprint. But it'd also be longer lasting. Which left...
"Please use this golem to demonstrate attacks on," Verena said as her grimoire was for the first time revealed. Unlike a traditional grimoire, the 'cover' was poised on the back, an inverted version of the traditional grimoire. In addition, the clover leaves were much larger but also separated. Hope, Love, Loyalty, and Luck. They were not bound in one form, but the leaves were clearly plucked off. Symbols indicative of the four basic elements were also present. She chose not to draw attention to this, however.
"Summoner Creation Magic: Phaunus' Gift."
Various wooden branches suddenly appeared from the earth, rising upward and binding together like in a cross-stitching manner, forming what could be compared to a rather large giant wicker basket with legs, an arm, and a head. It easily towered over both, nearly ten feet in height.
"...I-If possible, try to concentrate attacks on the chest." Verena moved to the side, careful to get away from the spells, but not far enough away to where she'd lose any valuable information from how this was forming. She was learning something completely new; all of her current golems that she could make were tangible constructs that could be interacted with. To maximize on what could be learned, she first needed to understand as much as possible before she could try assimilating this type of magic and making it her own for the creation of golems.

For this attack spell, Suna shapes her aura into multiple spears that float stationary next to her until she plays sudden, accented notes, which will then launch themselves out in a cone-shaped area all at once. Each spear is 60in / 152cm in length and 2in / 5cm in width, with the tip being slightly wider 3in / 7.6cm. The maximum cones of spears Suna can use is 1 + (Control/10). Apex Predator gives this spell an additional +3 power stack-able buff caps after 5 attacks or +15 to the enemy. She may choose to sustain the spell and hold back on launching all her cones.
This attack spell is not limited to which instrument she uses to launch the spears, as the technique is the same.
[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her harp by humming a C (262hz). Her harp is 33"x19"x6" / 83x48x15cm.
Suna wondered if she had misunderstood the other girl’s question, judging by the bewildered air she felt. It was a good chance that she did, but it would be even more confusing if she added more on to her disjuncted ramble of thoughts. Hence, she decided to let it pass. For now.
As soon as Verena said ‘golems,’ Suna immediately sat up straight, eyes brightening in excitement. She has only seen golems from a far ways off, so this would be her first time seeing them in action up close. "All right!" This called for more action, so she stood up, brushing the loose grass off her clothes. As the other’s grimoire came into view, the elf’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. So she really was just as powerful as she thought. It was also quite different from the other grimoires she has seen, but it was a strange kind of beauty. "Your grimoire...it’s amazing!" She would have exclaimed something more about it, but bit down on her tongue just in time. Some types of attention were undesirable, and she did not know the other girl well enough to determine what was all right with her or not.
Just then, the crimson-eyed female summoned her golem, and Suna had to stop herself from falling over. First in shock and fear, then in awe and wonder. "Wow..." She breathed, blinking rapidly to make sure it was real. It was real, all right, as the ground seemed to rumble and shake beneath her. It seemed to have formed from the earth, wooden branches that seem to knot itself together to form a gigantic beast before her eyes. It was an intricately-formed golem, easily twice her height, and the elf’s eyes were as wide as saucers. She would have kept staring and admiring the creation if the other girl had not said something.
"Oh, the chest? Hmmm, okay!" Most of her spells covered an area, and Sforzando was the only attack spell she had that had some sort of point. Feeling out for her aura magic, Suna shaped them into multiple spears, which floated stationary next to her, their sharp points facing forward towards the golem.
She started a lively tune this time, and after a few seconds into the music, her fingers plucked out sudden, accented notes. The abrupt sound shift caused the spears to launch out in a cone-shaped area. If the middle two spears landed where she aimed them, they would be buried into the golem’s chest. As her spell was launched out in V-shape, the two spears on the outside would likely hit the golems’ arms, or fall harmlessly to the ground. She could continue launching out more cones if needed, but since this was no real battle, she chose not to sustain the attack spell, and let her aura morph back into its semi-translucent state around her.
The blue-haired mage scratched the back of her head and laughed, a bit embarrassed. "I really need a single target spell." Then she ran a little closer to the golem, studying the patterns that were woven throughout. "So you can control them to do anything you want them to do? That’s so cool!"

Verena couldn't help but offer a weak, pained smile in response to the compliment given by Suna. It was a comment she heard over and over and over again. Indeed, four leaf grimoires were incredibly rare. It only made sense that people would be taken aback by it when they saw them. That wowed reaction time and time again. It wasn't as if she could blame anyone for feeling that way or reacting that way. But... to Verena, it had been nothing but bad luck. From the moment she obtained her grimoire, any chance she might have had at repairing her bonds with her parents were gone. There was an irreparable hole that could not be patched up at this point.
Still, that smile became a genuine one as she saw Suna's reaction to her golem. That wow factor was exactly what she was hoping to inspire. That same sort of reaction was how she felt every time she summoned one of them, even now. That love, that adoration... But that wasn't important. Her expression straightened up a bit when the girl began preparing a spell of her own.
Through her glasses, those crimson eyes stared intently, all of her focus was solely on Suna. Verena was intent on trying to pick up as much as possible. The more she could learn and take in, the quicker she could get to work on making a spell to construct a new golem. The very prospect of such was quite exciting to Verena. The girl carefully watched how Suna moved her fingers on the harp.
Under normal circumstances, a harp was just a harp. However, currently, it was acting in a manner akin to a wand. This harp directed the flow of mana, concentrating it and guiding it. It made it quite easier to manipulate one's own mana, especially with something as free as sound. As Verena lacked anything like that, it'd make it quite difficult to try to figure out how she could properly guide something as abstract as sound into some sort of shape. ...Could she even do that?
Regardless, when the spell did strike the golem, Verena's eyes gazed over to the damage. While not quite dead center in their strike, it was at least in the torso, which was the bulk of the body. That'd make it much easier to gauge the damage. The woman's theory was that by assessing the damage, she could more accurately assess the damage that Sound was capable of. It did manage to penetrate the golem, but not all the way through. The other two spears didn't quite make it to the arms, however.
Verena, however, didn't respond to Suna's question, instead putting a hand to her chin as she ruminated deep in thought. However, it wasn't as if she didn't hear it. To answer Suna's question, she simply sent the command for the golem to imitate her. The right arm was brought under the left elbow, supporting it, as the left hand was clenched into a fist, supporting its chin.
"Aha. Okay, I think I've got it," Verena began to say. "Let's see how this goes."
Taking in a deep breath, Verena moved both her arms directly in front of her, keeping her palms out as she began letting her mana circulate more freely through her being, focusing. She was going to use her own mana to 'summon' mana that could be transformed into sound. She kept these points in mind thus far. It was paramount that she considered what she had noted so far.
"Elementally similar to wind. While I haven't learned Wind element yet, I have done extensive research into it. That'll make it a bit easier. It's free form and doesn't want to be bound to any one shape. Sound magic is easily excited going off the harp. There's a method to it. To harness that..."
Mana was being concentrated directly in front of Verena. A brilliant blue color, just like Suna's. She wasn't aiming to make a golem right now. That came after she learned the element of Sound. After she could control it for the purposes of making golems. Verena was getting excited as it seemed she was onto something, however...!
The mana suddenly all dispersed before fading away entirely.
"A-Ah...I failed."

To activate this attack spell, Suna will strike up a quick series of notes, loud and sharp like the patter of winter hail. Her pure aura will morph into white flint-like arrowheads (2in by 3in) that hangs above the enemy, and her sound will make those arrowheads fall down in an circular area of 10 meters. The density of falling arrowheads will depend on her ability to play in polyphony, a musical texture consisting of two or more simultaneous lines of independent melodies, as opposed to just one dominant melodic voice.
To sustain the barrage, Suna must keep her tempo above vivace (lively and brisk tempo, 156–176 bpm) and play a series of tremolos, which is repeating a specific note or notes as rapidly as possible to produce a quivering effect. Apex Predator gives this spell an additional +3 power stack-able buff caps after 5 attacks or +15 to the enemy. At Suna's current junior level, it cannot be sustained for more than three motifs (three posts, not including the post when the spell is cast); then the piece must be started again from the beginning and the spell must be recast.
This spell is not limited to which instrument she uses, it is only a musical form type.
[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her guzheng by humming a G (392hz). Her guzheng is 64"x12.6" / 162x32cm.
Suna could just stand there and admire the summoned creations all day, but would that be considered rude? She watched as the girl made the golem mirror her actions, and continued to be astounded by what it could do. Verena was saying something, and the blue-haired mage turned back to see a blue mana mass being formed. Was she trying to learn her element? Or maybe like a form of it, using just her mana? If so, that was incredibly impressive, and the other girl could easily become even more powerful than what she already was now.
For a moment, it looked like whatever she was trying to do was going to succeed. But then the mana suddenly dispersed, and Suna’s face fell. She had also been hopeful that something would have happened, but perhaps it was something about the spell she decided to use. "Hmmm, sound is pretty tricky to use." She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "That attack spell back there? The spears were made from my aura, but it was my sound that launched them. Without one or the other, it wouldn’t have worked." She realized that that particular spell was more complicated, and perhaps it was the reason why it was harder to grasp and more difficult to analyze and replicate.
"At the moment, I can only use my harp or my other instrument to cast the spells that are primarily sound." Suna said absentmindedly. Whether the other mage was curious about it or not, she did not know, but had decided to offer up the information regardless. While it was true that her sound magic was her primary element, the elf had dual capabilities, and could also use pure aura. Both elements were tricky to use, as it depended heavily on its user and their style of fighting.
Just the other day, she had met another pure aura mage, and was amazed at the way it had been used. The other user specialized in close combat fighting, and primarily used her element to boost her physical prowess. Whereas for Suna, she preferred forming long-ranged weapons with her aura, as her fighting style was definitely from the back. Almost like an archer in war: physically weak, but able to deal damage from afar. Again, even though it was the same element, it was used in a vastly different way, and she had learned much about it that day.
"My aura though, I can control without using a channeling agent, but not my sound...at least not yet." Suna gave her a quick smile. "Want me to try another one?" Assuming that the other girl would agree, the elf swept her fingers through her harp again. This time, it was a quick and lively tune. Her Capriccio was another one of her attack spells, though more of an area of effect then pointed targeting. The elf shaped her aura into little flint arrowheads that hung above the golem, like hail frozen in place.
As soon as she started plucking loudly and harshly, the arrowheads fell down in a shower. Though they were small in nature, there were many of them, and most would embed itself in the golem's wood-like structure. Suna continued the fast and furious melody, slender fingers blurring in their speed. She may not be physically fast when it comes to running, but her fingers could rival any master harpist in the land. She kept her tempo above vivace, and started adding a few extra embellishes here and there. As she did so, the polyphonic texture of her music made the falling arrowheads even denser.
She would continue sustain the barrage until Verena signaled for her to stop. After all, the elf had plenty of time and mana to spare, and it was not everyday she got to use her spells in a non-combat situation.

Frustrating. That feeling was frustrating. She was onto something, she was sure of it. Verena need to resolve the issue of the dispersing mana. Sound mana wasn't one that wanted to be controlled; it simply wanted to spread. Yet it was because of that thought that it had dispersed. The previous notion she had of it simply allowing it to run it's course naturally wasn't going to work.
Still, it was worth a shot.
"...Summoner magic allows me to create golems from just about any element," Verena mused aloud, for her friend to hear. "There's currently no precedent stating that I can't learn this that I'm aware of. The fact I was able to manifest some sound-based mana is proof of that, I believe..."
"...What I'm trying to get at is, well... I don't simply snap my fingers and summon a golem. Wouldn't that be nice though...? I just summon the mana of the appropriate element by using my own, then give it form, just like with all creation magic; the difference being, it's not coming from my own body. Why am I saying this?" Verena inquired. "...In case you might have any ideas to offer during the time as I'm trying different things out. It might be helpful for me if I share this with you, to see if you might have any suggestions."
Verena took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she fell deep in thought. Her goal was a simple one, if not a bit complicated: to give form to something otherwise formless. To constrain it, yet allow it to move freely. Forcing mana based constructs to do something that they otherwise went against the flow of what they did was ...well, it simply was impossible. One couldn't turn rocks into a gaseous state, water into towering skyscrapers, and air into lush rivers.
She listened as Suna explained how she created instruments with her mana to cast the sound magic. Verena had managed to deduce that much, but it was nice to get some confirmation on it. This inadvertently confirmed her suspicion that the method was akin to using a wand to more accurately control and direct the flow of mana. It was an edge she couldn't exactly replicate but needed to figure out how she could nonetheless.
Still, it seemed Suna was still eager to see how far Verena could take this, evident in that she readied another spell once Verena confirmed she still wanted to go. The brunette carefully watched the way the spell was in use as the arrowheads came pouring down upon her golem. She noticed the finer details as well as the way it impacted the golem. Each individual arrowhead left a sort of conical impact as they began piercing the construct. This gave Verena a new type of thing to consider.
Suna was able to control the sound while still confining them to a sort of shape. Though each individual one differed in almost minute details in terms of how it impacted the golem, there was still a sort of shape that each 'arrowhead' had. Verena directed her attention back to the blue haired elf. What was it? What was that missing element, that which let her give shape to something as shapeless as sound?
...Wait. Shapeless? No, that wasn't quite correct. Verena was thinking about it in the wrong way, wasn't she? Sound didn't have a physical form, sure, but it still had a form that could be monitored. Vibrations. She had read about that in that book in the library before coming here. Vibrations weren't something that could be seen, but they could be felt. The harp was effectively creating vibrations that allowed Suna to control at will.
The idea of simply summoning the mana wasn't quite right then. Of course, that was the case though. Letting mana run free without any real control was like trying to make a weapon but not welding the pieces together. With this newfound idea in mind, Verena thought about it again, trying to ascertain a proper focus on things.
Similar to before, Verena calmed herself, extending out both palms. Was it even possible for her to use her mana in this manner? Vibrations were something she knew very little of. No, there was no use doubting it. The idea was simple enough. It wasn't as if she was going to cause an existing change in the flow of her mana; rather, she was going to use her mana to summon mana that belonged to the affinity of "Sound". If that was the case, it should already be in a state akin to vibrating; that's what allowed it to act in the manner it did. Different frequencies and pitches allowed for different actions to be taken. She simply needed to find the right pitch that'd allow for it to take form. This part for sure would be trial and error, but she was certain she was on the right path now.
"Focus," Verena thought to herself. "Focus. I can do this."
Similar to before, a gathering of the very same type of blue mana began to appear in concentrated form, identical to what Suna showed her earlier. Verena was imagining what the mana wanted, how it was formed, what allowed it to take shape. All of her energy was put into this moment as she took what she had thought to be true thus far. The mana kept pouring into that focal area like before. But unlike last time, it wasn't dispersing. It simply kept coming and building up. It seemed as though she had an idea of what she was doing with it?
Still, Suna, and even Verena could tell it was still very much in an 'incomplete' state. Trying to do anything with it right now was going to prove to be impossible. The best she could hope to do right now was try to sustain it, even if it was tiring.
"...Could you use the restraining spell now?" Verena asked. She'd gotten the most of her answers from the two attack spells she'd seen thus far. Something to tie it all together, pun unintended, would likely give her the rest of the information necessary to complete her understanding. She was very much on the brink of figuring it all out. So close, yet...!

[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her guzheng by humming a G (392hz). Her guzheng is 64"x12.6" / 162x32cm.
To activate this restraining spell, Suna plucks out the melody on her right hand while tampering the full sound by lightly muffling the strings with her left hand, indicating its restraining effects. As the music flows from the instrument, the sound takes form of a small flowing stream that is 1 meter in width. It snakes towards the enemy and spreads in a circle (1 meter in diameter) beneath each target's feet. When in contact with its target(s), the aura spreads upwards to bind movements and to slow down their speed by -2m/s. This will only affect the first [1 + (Control/10)] targets in contact, one additional target will have their speed debuffed by -1m/s, and any other targets will not be affected.
This binding restraint is an AoE effect. The spell only physically affects the enemy, and cannot restrain any spoken or verbal spell castings of retaliation. Vampiric Magic's mana drain will only be applied to the two targets of Suna's choosing. To sustain the bind, Suna must keep playing in ritenuto, the tempo gradually becoming slower and slower. The slower and calmer her music is, the more effective the bind. Any distractions to her state of mind will affect success of sustaining the spell. The restraints have the health of junior rank spells - if dealt damage that are equal or above the spell's rank, the restraints will dissolve and be dispelled.
This restraining spell is not limited to which instrument she uses, as the technique is the same.
[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her harp by humming a C (262hz). Her harp is 33"x19"x6" / 83x48x15cm.
Suna nodded slowly, taking in all the information that the other girl was offering. There seemed to be more than she had thought, especially about this summoner style of magic. In a way, it seemed like a type of imitation magic, though it seemed to be more permanent. Somehow, "Hmm, I don’t really have any ideas to add on to yours..." The elf shook her head slowly, then something shifted in her blue eyes.
"Have you ever tried using a wand or something to summon?" She pursed her lips, deep in thought. Just like how her physical instruments gave her control over her mana, maybe it would be easier to learn another element with the use of a physical item. "Maybe there is something you can use to better conduct the flow of mana, something with more control..." Her eyes landed on the books they had checked out from the library. Seeing how spells could be conjured from their grimoires, perhaps the subject and contents of a book could also be manifested into something physical?
However, her thoughts were temporarily laid aside when she started her attack spells. This time, it seemed like Verena had a better control of the blue-hued mana. It looked more solid, and did not waver in and out like the previous attempt. The elf wanted to shout and cheer for the other girl, but she needed to keep her attention on her playing, otherwise her music would suffer and the spell casting would be interrupted.
At the girl’s request, Suna nodded and changed the tune to a gentler one, softer and not as intense. Once again, her Ritenuto magic emerged, spilling out from her harp and towards the golem. Upon contact, it would attempt to restrain the golem, binding it from the feet up. The restraining spell was slightly different compared to the other two attack spells, as it was solely based on her sound magic. The other two had her other element mixed in it, and her music was the drive force that launched the formed weapons.
Suna threw a quick look at the summoner, hoping that she was able to hold it up. The blue-haired elf could tell that this was no easy feat, and she did not want the other female to collapse from exhaustion or anything of the sort. But then again, she did not want to divert any attention from the intense concentration. All she could do was to keep a close eye on the mage...

Well, it was a shame, but Verena did put her on the spot. She couldn't exactly blame the other girl. Plus, she was basically being exposed to a new type of magic many likely didn't even know existed. It was doubtful that there were many in Clover familiar with it. Unlike something like Void or Angel, which were renown for their unmatched destructive and unparalleled healing prowess respectively, Summoner was a niche that lacked any sort of notable mentions. At least, in her experience. In a way, it was kind of lonely, but she wasn't going to dwell too much on that.
"...unfortunately, a wand wouldn't be of much help to me. Wands and the sort help a mage control and direct their mana better, but... my mana is already being used. There's not a problem on that front. It's a matter of having to summon the mana. Once I can do that, then it's effectively mine to use for the purpose of golems. I'm not sure if I explained it in a way that makes much sense though..." the girl sighed, showing a degree of some frustration present. But even still, it didn't cause her to lose focus. This frustration was not in part due to her inability to explain, but because actually this process of applying what she was learning was always so tedious.
Especially because Verena knew she was almost there. She almost had it. She was so close. She was so close and she could feel it. This was the more difficult part of the task, however. While she was right at the edge of that breakthrough, the mana wasn't quite properly under her control yet. There was one fundamental issue was missing. She was able to summon the mana, and she was able to control it enough to where she could sustain it, but as it was, she could do nothing else with it. Without being able to otherwise create objectively complicated structures, this mana was effectively gathered purely for show. Now was the time to act.
Verena eyed the spell, taking note of how it moved. It lacked solid form, but it very clearly had an effect on her golem. She wasn't able to move it much at all; it was already pretty slow, but in this state, it might have as well been glorified rocks. An impressive spell for sure, she briefly thought to herself, but as it was, that wasn't anything else. It was still taking most of her concentration to be able to get this much done with the mana.
...Ah. That was it, Verena confidently but silently nodded to herself, affirming what was going on. Of course. She'd missed the obvious from the beginning. Sound itself as she noted earlier wasn't bound to any one particular form. It was like the wind in that sense. It could be molded, but it would still spread out. It'd be ephemeral in a sense. Solid, yet formless. Even as the restraints climbed around her golem, seeking to bind the giant compared to the two girls, it seemed as though it could disappear at a moments notice, like it was never there to begin with--not that this Restraint Magic was anything but effective, unlike her own.
The goal was to give it substance to retain itself. That substance would be with the vibrations itself, giving off faint traces of energy. Far too minute to be noticed by any creature, but enough to actually be utilized to complete the missing link. The energy being given off would cause bits to be shaven off but it'd be continuously building up. This much was completed now, which meant one very important thing now for the two girls. It might not have been formed, but...
"Dance," Verena commanded. Though, she wasn't addressing Suna.
The particles of blue, the mana born through Verena's careful observation of her blue haired friend began springing to life, dancing up and down in odd frequencies. It was clear she hadn't quite mastered control, but that was to be expected; this was pure mana. To have even this much control was rather surprising, but at the same time, not entirely. If humans started life as babies, then this mana could be considered the 'baby' form of a golem, not yet matured. In a sense, this random assortment of color was an unformed golem, but incapable of anything beyond simply moving.

"Ahh, I see." Her face had reddened slightly. She was somewhat embarrassed at her lack of understanding; she really had much to learn, especially in the area of communication. However, both attention were focused on the shifting mana that the other girl was controlling. "Ooooh..." She breathed. Even in its preliminary stage, it was impressive. It had taken years for her to master her sound magic, but this summoner had learned the beginnings of its control in a fraction of the time. There really was a difference between their ranks.
Suna was certainly learning something new with everything that the other mage did or said. In a way, she never really thought of her elements in other’s perspectives—she only knew that it was there, and had only focused on mastering it. However, Verena was attempting to replicate her sound element, and it was opening her eyes and ears to that point of view.
Vibrations. She had always concentrated on how to form her sound, but never on the sound itself. To her, it was all about hitting the pitch and tone on the exact and perfect level. It was all about the quality of her playing, the manipulating of music to resonate and tap into the other dimension. Sound by itself is ordinary, hardly worth a second notice until its repetitions became annoying, or its sudden burst caught the listeners’ ears and attention.
Even now, she was still concentrating on her playing and the piece, gradually slowing it down more and more as she sustained Ritenuto. The blue-haired elf did not know she was holding her breath, not daring to interrupt the delicate balance in front of her. Would the other girl still be able to sustain it if she stopped playing?
Throughout all this, she had not noticed that the afternoon had been slipping away, and that the sun was already starting its descent to the horizon. She had been so engrossed with the golems and sharing her music, she did not notice the time going by. If she wanted to get home before it was completely dark, she would have to leave soon. She did not want to meet any of the mana beasts like she did last time...

Verena took notice of her companion's reddened face only after she was sure she'd managed a proper control of the element. It still wasn't ideal, but it was concrete enough to where she could utilize it when she wanted. Fine tuning would be the next step, but that was not for her to worry about in this moment. What was important was that it was done. But, even still--
"Are you feeling ill? I'm so sorry, we've been out here for quite a while," the former noble said as she noticed the setting sun. "I didn't mean for this to take so long... I should have asked if you'd be able to continue tomorrow so as to not occupy your afternoon..." Verena felt a little guilty for taking up so much of Suna's time, her voice trailing off. What if Suna had other things she wanted to do? She'd just basically stolen the entire afternoon from the other girl...
To make matters worse, the only person who benefitted from this was Verena in her own eyes. She'd just managed to learn another element, and if the other got sick, then it was entirely a result of her own selfishness and lack of attention to the generous person before her. Verena had since dispersed the mana present in the area, signaling she was confident in what she had learned here.
Still, at a time like this, there was something very important to be done. Verena clasped her hands in front of her waist, bowing slightly to the blue haired girl in a display reminiscent of one born into Noble status, even if a status she no longer acknowledged as her own. "T-Thank you very much for taking the time to teach me. It wouldn't have been possible without you. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate your assistance and tutelage," she said, looking back up, and offering the elven girl a sincere smile, the sheer joy she felt from their time together being something she truly was grateful to experience.
"I don't want to hog up more of your time, and it's getting late... I need to see about finding a place to sleep for the night while I'm in town. I hope to see you again, Suna." If there were no other words to be said, Verena made her way back into the town.

Suna finally glanced up at the sky, and her eyes widened. "Oh!" The afternoon sun was about to set, and its fiery golden rays would soon be swallowed up in blues and purples. She had stayed longer than she intended, but she did not regret spending the time with her new friend.
"Ah, no I’m not ill, don’t worry!" The elf shook her head quickly, blue hair flying. "I just want to make sure I get home before it gets too dark." Fortunately for her, she had remembered to bring her broom with her. She could use it to fly home, and it would be much quicker and safer then on foot. "I’m really glad that I got to meet you, though! I would love to see your golems again, and see what you can do with sound the next time we meet."
The young woman tilted her head and smiled sincerely. At the other girl’s bow, she also echoed the action, bowing slightly in polite recognition. "It is my pleasure. Truly." She had lost nothing, after all. In fact, she has gained much. An afternoon spent discovering and learning new things was not wasted time. In addition, she had made a new friend. Who would have known that she would meet a kindred spirit, an ally in books and spirit?
"If I knew the town better, I would recommend a place, but unfortunately I cannot." There was a hint of apology in her tone, but the smile was still there. She bent down to pick up the books she had set down earlier, then turned back to Verena. "I will be back sometimes next week to return these books. Perhaps I will see you then?" After listening to the girl’s answer, she would nod and give a little wave in farewell. She would not mind meeting up with Verena again soon.
- fine -
