Training was so over rated for Chisana right now, it wasn’t because he was the top of the food chain or anything like that if anything Chisana was just barely above the bottom on that analogy, it was more he was just tired and sore and needed a break from the constant training he was always doing to get better he just didn’t know how to go about getting such a break he didn’t want to just tap out and not show up to a training session with the Captain and he highly doubted that going with that plan would work out for him anyways. The Captain was not one to just let someone not show up for his sessions especially Chisana, so as Chisana passed the dining area he happened to notice the request board. It had been quite some time since the last time he had gone on a mission of any real type, having been focused on exploring the dungeons that randomly appeared out of no where across the kingdom. He had completed two of those so far and had gained some experience from them, but now he realized that he needed to focus on taking care of missions and requests from the kingdom and its people.
Chisana had heard of the very few magic knights whose whole careers had been simply just dungeon diving and even some citizens join in just for that fame and possible reward, it was quite a massive turn around as long as you could complete the dungeon but the risk was just as high due to the variety of environments that could be in the dungeons and the variety of monsters that could appear in them as well. Quickly he gathered his things and made his bed and departed for Hapshass where a request had been made to take care of some creatures called goblins were causing some issues and growing bold with their movements. Chisana hadn’t encountered any goblins before but wasn’t to worried about them due to the description given by what was on the request, he would make sure to double check and fact check with the request giver on more information on the creatures but for now he was ready to head on over.
Chisana summoned one of his flying golems and made his way over to Hapshass, there he arrived at the town hall and decided to wait for his supposed partner before heading inside to get the information. He wasn’t sure who would show up, but he hoped that it was someone that he got along with and not someone that would pester him with a million questions about every little thing.

'CAUSE THERE'S MORE TO THIS BRAVE ADVENTURE THAN YOU'D EVER BELIEVE
Everything still felt so surreal. When she had entered the magic knight exam, she had tempered her expectations. She had been able to pick up on many of the small number of applicants being just outright stronger than she was. And yet, she was among the number of applicants who had been extended offers from various squads. In the end, it had come down to a gut feeling. Sort of a mental coin flip, truly. However, it seemed that she wasn't going to be getting a warm welcome to the squad just yet. Effectively the minute she had shown up at the base, she had been told that she was going to be headed to Hapshass. No rhyme or reason. She had been rushed back out with a spare broom in hand, and a location to fly to.
It was odd, truly. But she wasn't going to complain. If they wanted her to do something, there was no point in wasting time complaining. So, she made her way to Hapshass's City Hall, the wind causing both the hem of her mantle as well as the links of Oxtail to flutter and clink, respectively. Of course, she started to go lower and lower as she neared the city hall..only to spot a very familiar speck.
It was Chisana! But he had been a knight for a good while already..so why send them off together? Had he signed them both up for a mission? That was unlikely. She hadn't been the only one in the family who had noticed how much of his time had become devoted to training. It was likely that he didn't even know she had joined..oh, that was perfect. A devious smile began to spread on Xiulan's lips as she made a point of slowly swerving in such a way that she would touch down around the corner from him. Once she touched down, she spun the broom in her free hand, slinging the thing over her shoulder like it was a bindle. And then, casual as could be, she rounded the corner.
"Well, well, well. Looks like Mr. Suit and Tie isn't too good for some quality family time after all!" She called out in a very teasing manner, the most satisfied grin on her face as she waved to him. Her outfit wasn't too far out of the norm. A mostly high end dress, made to look nice as well as be fairly durable. This one was a deep, dark blue, and looked to be more of a sundress than anything else. Of course, the fact that she was dressed up only added to the irony of her statement.
But that wasn't what was likely to catch her cousin's eye. If anything, it was the mantle that she was wearing, and the whip coiled up at her hip. An item she had brought along with her out of a whim, more than anything. But it was certainly going to prove to be useful today. Of course, she still had at least one question to ask. "So..the people in charge basically rushed me out of the base and told me to come here. Any clue why?" She asked, completely unaware as to the fact that her 'initiation' as it were was going to be unfolding right before her. Hopefully she was up to the task.

The townspeople mingled around him as he continued his wait, though honestly he hadn’t been waiting all that long per say in this case for the mysterious partner that was suppose to help him with the mission today. Keeping an eye out for anyone that would give off that vibe of “hey I’m here to help” Chisana saw the black of the Black Bull mantle first which was surprising considering he was sure that he had taken the request off the board when he had left but to be completely honest he wasn’t sure how they always got on the board anyways cause sometimes he saw a group take a request but shortly later the same request would be there it was something that most people just accepted but he had bugged Rosa and Lydia about this bit of mystery and it seemed like one of those things that everyone just shrugged their shoulders at and accepted.
Now getting back to the present Chisana noticed that person wearing said mantle was none other then his own cousin Xiulan, the same girl who had introduced him to their family home and shown him around when he first arrived in the noble region back when he was getting ready to receive his grimoire granted she also was there to get her grimoire but had apparently shown up earlier and knew the area better. Originally Chisana had been told there would be a guide to lead him to the family home but he was lucky and the guide not so lucky when reprimanded later that week, when she had been in the same area and decided to approach him. It was a positive memory of his and it showed on his face towards the member of the Ox Branch. It was one of the few branches that for some reason inherently got along with each other it so far besides some random outliers seemed to be pretty factual for all the people that Chisana had come to interact with since becoming apart of the Snake Branch of the Shengxiao family.
“Mr. Suit and Tie, huh?” Chisana said as he looked at his cousin, she had chosen to wear what some would consider high-end dark blue outfit. “I guess we are both set to visit the Prince’s party right after this.” Chisana said chuckling. “Also I was just at the last meeting anyways, but I did not see you there. Perhaps out looking for another outstanding dress?” Chisana had become quite relaxed around his cousin over time due to their easy-going relationship since their first meeting though he wasn’t surprised that if she had just joined the squad that someone would send her his way on the mission, thought he did wonder who pushed her this way, honestly it could have been the Captain for all Chisana knew and it wouldn’t even be out of character for him to do so. Maybe this was the Captain’s way of getting back at him for constantly pestering him with challenges and joining in his trainings.
“We are going to help the nice people of Hapshass with a local pest problem so I hope you are ready for some fun today.” Chisana would say with a smile on his face. The request had been about a growing group of Goblins being a nuisance and in much need of removing so they just needed to check in with the town hall receptionist and make their way to the destination. “Follow me and we can get back before Captain’s Evening Training regime.” Chisana pushed the doors open and approached the receptionist, “Hello we of the Black Bulls are here about your goblin issue. Just point us in the right direction and the problem will be completed shortly.” Chisana would say with polite smile and respectful posture. The receptionist looked at the boy who looked another like a boy in the sense of some young mage and gave both him and the woman next to him the directions needed to get to the den of the little green creatures that had seemed to spring out from no where and multiply like rabbits if you happened to look away from them.

'CAUSE THERE'S MORE TO THIS BRAVE ADVENTURE THAN YOU'D EVER BELIEVE
She hadn't seen Chisana in a while so when he returned her joke, Xiulan couldn't help but smile. It seemed that his work had at least loosened him up a bit. When they had last talked, he had been more intent to simply listen and let her talk than he was interested in making any conversation himself. But it seemed that he had grown out of that as of late. Still, she rolled her eyes at his comment about not seeing her at the last squad meeting. "Well, I only just got offers from the squads a few days ago, so. She said, waving her hand dismissively at his mention of having not been there in the name of going out and buying a dress. Of course, it was idle teasing. Family was family. And when your entire extended family lived in the same compound, it made even the most distant relatives feel close enough to make jabs at each other like they were directly related.
Still, once Chisana gave context as to what they were doing out here, the levity left the air, as it hit her what they were doing for her 'welcome'. Well. If Chisana was here, the mission couldn't have been too difficult. So she followed along, staying quiet as Chisana was given their directions, only speaking up long enough to ask if she could leave her broom here, as it was merely one she was borrowing. After being given permission, she placed the broom against the front of the desk, and walked out with Chisana. "Well, lead on. If we wanna be quick about this, no point in standing here explaining what the hell we're going to walk into. You can do that on the way." She said as she raised her arms over her head, a few popping noises coming from her laced fingers as she stretched. Of course, after Chisana finished his explanation of their job they would have some time to talk on the way, so she wasn't going to just let things be silent.
"So, did you watch any of the exams? Someone got an offer from basically every squad." She said, marking her opening to the conversation. If Chisana didn't outright ignore it, she would continue. "It was really odd how few people were there. I was all anxious before they actually happened. I thought I was gonna have to somehow stand out amongst dozens of people. Though I think the most odd part was some rumor that popped up after the fact. Apparently someone entered the exams without knowing what they were, and turned down the requests he was given as a result." Was she rambling again? Yeah. But she did make sure to leave more than enough time for Chisana to respond if he felt like it. They would reach their destination in due time even if he didn't talk. And it wasn't like either of them were defenseless. Xiulan herself had made quite an impression with how many people she could hit at once. Chisana had..whatever his magic was. It occurred to her that she didn't know what he could do, past the fact that his element was basically the same thing as manipulating mana itself. But he hadn't gotten himself killed yet, so it had to be something effective, right?

Seemed like his cousin had taken a cue from their first encounter and decided to be like he was when they first met where he simply listened and learn while he blabbered on about random things. It was a sign of trust for Chisana if you could get him to speak at any length that was not about an obsession. Xiulan brought up the Magic Knight Exams that had just taken place recently and was curious to know if he had attended them. “No sadly I was away busy with some tasks that needed completed.” Chisana would say as he lead the way to the Goblin’s little den, though he was quite surprised that someone had not only not known what the exams were but also got requests and then turned them down on top of that. It was a bit impressive he had heard that the Captain had taken some interest in some of the mages that had attended from what Rosa had told him later on. It wasn’t often that someone caught the Captain’s eye and actually got away from his sometimes overbearing personality.
“I’m glad to see that you were able to show of that family prowess and following in your oh so wonderful and amazing cousin’s footstep.” Chisana would say with an easy smile on his face, he was quite joyful that someone from the family had joined the same squad as he had. He did wonder how the exams would have been for him if he had simply waited to join instead of his pretty lucky run in with the captain in that town square. “So today from what I have been told and what I have gathered from the townspeople and some of the guards, We will be dealing with a Goblin Den today which hasn’t grown to big just yet but they have an apparent ability to multiply like rabbits in spring. So, we will split up the enemies between us two if we can safely but if not then the worse come to worst, we can group up and just deal with the little creatures easily. They are humanoid in appearance and have supposed limited intelligence with a slight understanding of how to use basic tactics so beware of being surrounded. No reason to give them an easy target.” Chisana would explain as they grew closer to the Goblin den, he had already seen some of the signs of goblins and was making sure that his cousin would be up to date with the needed information so that she wouldn’t be going into the situation unprepared.
Chisana as they got closer to the den summoned his golems, He summoned his three Falcons and his three soldiers. He allowed the Falcons take flight and had given them simple instructions to alert him to any of the goblins presence and that they would attack from the air while he had the three soldiers walk win a triangle formation around him and Xiulan, one being in the front and the other two being diagonally to the sides of Chisana and Xiulan. Through the limited connection he had with his golems the falcons he was told where the goblins had staked as their home. Smiling he telepathically unleashed his falcons on the “guards” of the group and each falcon swooped quickly from the sky and snatched a goblin each tearing them to shreds and quickly disappearing back to the sky. Out of the group of twelve there were now only nine of them and the rest of the group was visibly confused.
“Alright Xiulan, nine of these creatures left. Let’s have some fun.” Chisana said with visible excitement in his voice and his expression.

'CAUSE THERE'S MORE TO THIS BRAVE ADVENTURE THAN YOU'D EVER BELIEVE
It was certainly nice to spend some time around family. But that wasn't why she had picked this squad. Of course, Xiulan couldn't just tell Chisana that! It would break his poor little heart! So instead, she just chuckled and made a big show out of rolling her eyes. However, after cracking that joke, Chisana finally explained what was going on. Preemptive extermination of goblins. That certainly sounded simple enough. Especially if Chisana's information was correct and they only held limited intelligence. But that wasn't what had really caught her attention. No, that was just simple information that they needed. What really caught her eye was what her cousin did with his magic. Out of nothing, he had created falcons and men with swords. So golems were his thing. Interesting. And more than a little spooky, really. She could see right through them, after all. Of course, the soldiers were walking in formation. But the positioning they were in would make it hard for her to use some of her spells without hitting them. However, it seemed that the Soldiers were really only there as a line of defense, as she watched Chisana's falcons dive and take two of them. That made her chuckle. All of this flair, and he had only gone for two of them.
"Sorry, buddy." She said as she held her hand out, her grimoire gaining a sea foam green aura as it floated up to her hand and opened up. "But what you just got is probably all the fun you'll get to have." She said as the book flipped to the first page that was needed, and then another. Just like her cousin, she was casting two spells. However, what she was about to do was far more destructive in nature. All it took was one sentence.
"Ocean Magic: Charybdis and Ocean Magic: Bite of Samebito." She called out. It was rather unfortunate that the goblins were confused. Five of them were now knee deep in a thick mist. And those five had what could be considered the better fate, as the mist suddenly turned into five gouts of high pressure saltwater, the force absolutely decimating them if they hadn't moved or tried to defend themselves. And what about the other four?
They were to suffer a horrific fate. Moments after the geysers erupted, the remaining goblins would suddenly be caught in spires of coral that also erupted out of the ground. Unlike the single gouts of water, these spires came from seemingly every angle. Each of the goblins would be subjected to the pain of six interlocking spires, coming at them from every direction. This fate was incredibly painful, and perhaps sadistic, as even if they escaped impalement--somehow--the spires were meant to absolutely shred anything that so much as came into contact with them. It wasn't a spell that Xiulan liked using, truthfully. But it was the only other Area spell she had. If Chisana hadn't summoned the soldiers, she would have had clearer lines of sight, and would have used very different spells. Regardless, the wind now carried at least one new smell. A very potent stench of saltwater.
Xiulan remained silent, though. Her grimoire would remain open, pages ready to turn if she had somehow not managed to get all of them. Of course, she had gone a little overboard. She noticed that an extra 'bite' had been formed behind the rest. Whoops. That would need to be something she would need to get a handle on. For now, her spells didn't seem to drain her at all. But eventually, that would change. She needed to be more aware of how many instances of a spell she was making.
Name of Spell: Charybdis Elemental Type: Salt (Water Oddity) Rank & Spell Type: Junior Attack Creation (AoE) Range & Speed: 25 Meters | 10 Meters per second Mana Cost: 10 | 5 Stats Effected: N/A Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Artillery Support Description: The third spell in Xiulan's grimoire. Charybdis is an interesting spell, as it is one of the spells that is designed to trick an opponent as well as take advantage of close quarters. Upon activating this spell, the air in a set area within range becomes thick around the floor before suddenly erupting in a high pressure gout of saltwater. For every five points Xiulan has in control, another geyser forms.
Name of Spell: Bite of Samebito Elemental Type: Coral Rank & Spell Type: Junior Attack Creation (AoE) Range & Speed: 25 Meters | 10 Meters Per Second Mana Cost: 10 | 5 Stats Effected: N/A Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Artillery Support Description: The sixth spell in Xiulan's grimoire, Bite of Samebito is another spell designed to most effectively be used in tight areas. Upon being casted, two sets of six interlocking Coral spikes rapidly grow in an area within range, each one converging at a different angle in their attempt to impale someone within the locking spires. With every 5 points Xiulan has in control, another area of coral spikes is generated.

Well that was easier than Chisana had been thinking. While he knew that the goblins weren’t going to be much of issue for himself thanks to the golems he could summon he was still impressed by just how much easier things got once you could literally just attack a whole area. He watched as his cousin took out the remaining goblins and while he had his falcons scout the rest of the area, he was sure that they had taken care of their mission. Once the falcons told him there wasn’t anything else around at least no more goblins he just shook his head and dismissed his soldiers and one of this falcons. Looking over at his cousin he just shrugged, “Well I guess I don’t get to have anymore fun then, I sometimes forget about those types of spells, getting way to use to just having the golems deal with everything.” As they made there way outside of the woods they had to travel into to get to the goblin nest he thought back to how much had changed since he had come to the noble region.
“You know we are going to go on more missions together in the future It was quite nice to spend time with family, or at least with family I get along with.” Chisana said, though he hadn’t had any issues with any of the family so far he was sure that given time he would meet a relative he disliked or maybe he would just avoid the ones he hadn’t met and just see how far that gets him. That was a train of thought that he could speculate about for another time, the were arriving at the town hall and it was time to let the mayor know about the success of their mission and then they could travel back to the base if Xiulan had nothing else to do while riding on his falcons. No reason to be forced to walk back or anything like that. The process of reporting back to the mayor was pretty much identical to when they first arrived not to long ago they had to report to the secretary, wait for an annoying amount of time, then get told they were allowed to walk in and talk to the mayor and have to reintroduce themselves to the mayor and finally tell them they had completed their task and how the town should request the Black Bulls help next time if there was any missions or things that needed to be taken care of quickly and easily.
Chisana had to stop himself from rolling his eyes during this whole thing cause after awhile it got tedious to have to constantly say this stuff but the Captain stressed that some times it was necessary and the majority of the times he didn’t care. He was just glad that the whole dealing with the mayor part was done and he could go train or even tease his cousin now that she was apart of the same squad.
