[attr="class","florencetext"] As the glass mage was giving her partner a massage she would look out at the sea. Lydia thought she'd be more nervous being out at sea without being able to swim but she actually found it calm and peaceful thanks in large to the water mage. She would stop after a few minutes putting her arms around Artemis waist hugging the taller women while rest her head on the green mantis' shoulders. Lydia would close her eyes as she listed to what was being said. I'm glad you aren't mad about that. I hear most people want there first time to be there partners first time as well. Sadly it doesn't always work out that way but I agree it shouldn't matter so long as both people enjoy it. At this point Lydia was starting to fall asleep not because she found what the blonde and white haired mage was talking about boring but for once in a long while she was able to not worry about anything. [break][break] She would of course still hear what was being said as Lydia wasn't asleep and even without looking at the part of the ship being talked about and her little knowledge on ship she figured she'd be able to find the main mast no problem. Before she could fully fall asleep she would open her eyes and look at the island. If that's true wouldn't that make this island a special place to you thanks to your affinity to water? Maybe we can train here sometime. As the crew started to get to work on there own jobs as told by Artemis Lydia would just look around then the topic of teach her how to swim would come up. The vice captain would pull her lover closer before kissing her until the water mage pulled away. I'm ready whenever you are.

“I really don’t think it should be something I get mad about,” Artemis mused as she pulled away from her partner's kiss. She enjoyed the woman's show of affections, though they were in a schedule. "Later." Leaving the wheel of the ship, Artemis continued her train of thought. “Different people will have different experiences. It is not something I can control, nor something I care about. No matter what, the past molded who you are now in the present, and the present you is who I fell in love with.” She would affirm the woman, before turning her attention back towards’ the ship’s main hold.[break][break]
The crew members were now starting their duties. However, one thing that she had wanted was to get to shore. She would not subject Lydia to swimming in deep waters for her first run, after all. Even she would have freaked out and possibly obtain a fear of water if she had been tossed into the deep end without the necessary experience. It can be very intimidating, after all, especially when one cannot see the bottom of whatever they were floating in. [break][break]
Lydia’ comment about the island would pique her interest. “I suppose you’re right. I have always found myself drawn to this island, ever since I could sail a small boat by myself.” Artemis looked towards the island proper, and found herself smiling at the days and nights she spent drinking coconut juice and eating fire-roasted fish. “We can definitely train here. I myself have trained within it’s forest during my youth. There are really no wild animals save the occasional bugs and critters. It’s an island of solitude.”[break][break]
She then waved for the small craft to be prepared. It was a boat large enough to carry twelve people, standard for all ships as it was used as landing vessels.[break][break]
“We will take this craft to the island. There we can set-up a small fire.” She would point towards the beach. “And then we can start teaching you how to swim by the shores. Baby steps, after all.” Artemis gave Lydia a small peck on the cheek, before placing a small bag into the landing vessel.[break][break]
“Shall we?” She gave her hand for Lydia to take. If she took it, then the vessel would be lowered onto the water and Artemis would use her small ability to use water magic and push their vessel towards the shore without the need for rowing.
[attr="class","florencetext"] As Artmies pulled away from the kiss Lydia would listen to the water mage speak while nodding her head. I agree that no one should get mad about that but everyone has their own views on the matter I suppose. If you are talking about not caring about past relationships I agree however if you mean someones past as a whole I disagree. The more you know about your partners young life the strong bond you can share. So if you ever have any questions like that I'll gladly answer them. As the talk of the island the two of them were heading to Lydia would smile. It seems you really enjoy come here do you think of this as a special place to you Also when we train here I think I might try and train another archmage spell a more offensive one this time. After all it seems like this would be the best spot to do so not having to worry about people or animals getting hurt if something goes wrong and all that. [break][break] The glass mage would look over at the smaller boat that was being prepared which meant that they were taking that to the island and not swimming the whole way which would have been a hell of a way to learn how to swim. The pink haired mage would take her partners hand getting into the boat before it was lowered into the water. She would go to grab an oar to row the boat however it wasn't needed as Artemis started to use her magic to move it. I can take care of the fire once we get there. Once they made it to shore Lydia would get out of the boat holding her hand out to the green mantis mage. Once they were both on land the crimson lion mage would gather sticks and wood for a fire before using her magic to bring the fire to life. Well I guess all that's left is to go for a swim? I also don't like baby steps just so you know.

As they landed onto the island, Artemis would start to reminisce her younger days out here alone. She remembered how her brother and sister would ask to join her sometimes, yet she denied them of the chance. This was, after all, a place for herself only. She found herself at peace here when she was alone. Meditating on this island had helped her control her urges for Adrenaline, which she had done a few months before she got her Grimoire and joined the Green Mantis. That had been a while back now. It had been a long time since she had been here, and she had definitely missed this place. [break][break] “I would not mind training her.” She would smile, “One day, possibly. I do hope to create another spell, the epitome of my repertoire as an assassin and scout type fighter.” Artemis would think about it for a moment. “But that’s something for later on. Today, we swim.” She would then point towards the open sea. The water was crystal blue, clear and sparsely populated with small tropical fishes. Artemis would slowly make her way towards the water, letting the cool element slowly creep up her skin as it cooled her warm skin from the sun.[break][break]
Artemis would then turn to Lydia, “Well, if you’re not one for baby steps, then you should jump in!” She would then push herself off the shallow shore, swimming towards waters that were about neck deep. “Come on then!”[break][break]
Relaxing. Artemis closed her eyes as she waited for Lydia to join her in the cold waters. She held her Ki senses out and could feel all the small fishes swimming around them. The waves were pushing in and out of the shore, carrying the waters from the four corners of the world.[break][break]
If Lydia made her water into the water, Artemis would start, “The water is your friend. Peaceful. Serene. Control. The water of the seas will never harm you, at least, unless you anger it.” She would pause for a moment. “Take your time in acclimating yourself. Find your comfort, find your peace. If you’re too anxious, you will not be able to learn. Center yourself.” Artemis exhaled, basking in the cool embrace of the water. [break][break] She was home.
[attr="class","florencetext"] As Lydia was build the small fire for everyone she would listen as the water mage spoke about how they could train here one day and an idea about what kind of spell. Yes I suppose it would have to be one day since we can't just come here whenever we feel like since it's kind of far out. So did you have an idea for the spell exactly? I think I'll make an attack spell that can also increase my speed since that's what I'm know for. Lydia's gaze followed Artemis as the women pointed towards the sea. Stopping by the boat first to put her hat and jacket in it after all she didn't need them now. It looked the the swimming lessons were finally start luckily it didn't seem they were going to far out just yet. The pink haired mage would follow her love into the water walking until the point she had to actually start swimming. [break][break] It wasn't to bad while moving as she managed keep her head above the water for the most part. The water felt nice and cool on Lydia's skin even though she had a heat based magic she still felt heat from the sun. I'm sure it is once I can manage to keep my head above water all the time. Lydia would then take a deep breath before letting herself sink under the water. She of course had her eyes close but she would use her sensory to feel the fish and everything under the water. She would then clear her mind focusing just on the water for a few more moments. Perhaps the water mage was starting to get worried or maybe she wasn't either way Lydia would come back above the water no soon after and would manage to be able to keep her head above the water the whole time now. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now.

She supposed that her partner needed to be able to experiment with this new experience. Swimming was something that everyone needed to learn. At least, the basics. Water was a natural resource, and sometimes, it was an inescapable element. Artemis believed that at every turn, one must be ready, and swimming was one of those skills that can come in handy at the most inopportune time. And so she wanted Lydia to learn it now, especially when she could still help her. And when they still had time to learn.[break][break]
When Lydia had not resurfaced, Artemis would watch even more carefully. She was looking for air bubbles. That was the sign that someone was choking from lack of oxygen, and of course, drowning. When she saw none, she was put a little at ease, though she still watched carefully. Artemis would use her sensory to track the woman’s mana signature, making sure that her life force was still strong with her Ki sensing. [break][break]
When the woman surface, Artemis would smile. “That’s good. Remaining calm is one of the most important things about swimming. You must let your body do the movements without being too erratic. When you do too much, and your body moves too much, you get nowhere.” She shook her head, “As for my spell, I think I should go back to my roots. An illusion spell that is made to be offensive in nature. But, it is still something I need to think on.”[break][break]
Artemis would then position herself behind the woman. She would, if Lydia permitted, hold onto both of her forearms, stretching them in front into a v-like shape, before pulling one back in the motion of a freestyle swimming stroke.[break][break]
“This is the most common way to swim. Left first, and then right. Make sure to breath every other stroke by tilting your head just above the water, like so.” Artemis then gently held Lydia’s head to tile on one side, letting her left cheek rest on the water, to show her how to take a breath at every other stroke. “Now, would you like to watch me do it and then you can try?”[break][break]
Artemis, if Lydia permitted it, would swim in a freestyle swimming stroke for a few meters, before stopping and gesturing for Lydia to try it out for herself. Artemis knew that Lydia was a fast learner, and so was sure that she could at least do it in an amateur way with her first try, mastering it by the end of this holiday trip.
[attr="class","florencetext"] As Lydia came back above the water she would listen to what the water mage was saying about the swimming lessons. Well I guess I'm a fast learn after all it's not to much different than running which is something I like to do in case you didn't know. As Artemis mentioned sensory magic Lydia would then back on her own magic and how she was able to use the same kind of spells however she had never trained any of them before. Hmm I suppose that makes sense after all if your good at one thing why stop using it? As the green mantis vice captain swam behind her Lydia wasn't sure what she was planning on doing perhaps dunking her under the water like she saw kids to do each other at the beach the few times she went. That of course didn't happen as her partner just grabbed her forearms before stretching them out in front of Lydia teach her the most basic way to swim. Yeah sure after all I'm willing to try most things once. [break][break] After the water mage stopped swimming Lydia would try it on her own using was she was just taught. It was easy enough to make it to Artemis after all Lydia was a fast learner. She would then stop in front of the green mantis looking deeply into her eyes before leaning in close. However the one word the other women spoke earlier would ring in her ears and she would pull back a little kissing the women on the cheek instead. So is there a faster way to swim than what I just learned?

Artemis took in the kiss. Soft. Sweet. Loving. [break][break]
Slowly pulling away, Artemis would smile softly at her partner, before turning her attention towards the open waters. This had been her home once. A private place for her. Now, she was sharing it with Lydia. Artemis supposed that it was only natural for her to share something this intimate with the woman she loved. [break][break]
“The next thing we do after taking a short swim like this, is to dunk our heads and hold our breaths.” She would smirk now. It was a game that her and her siblings played when they had gone swimming during the hot summers of Clover’s longest days. “And then, we blow bubbles out of our noses! The longest one to stay under the water wins.” [break][break]
Artemis would challenge the woman. A silly challenge, something they would never be caught doing by the larger public sphere. No, this was an experience she only shared with her partner, and those she held close to her heart. [break][break]
“Ready?” [break][break]
She would breath in deep. If Lydia was up for it, then they would start. Without pause, Artemis would dunk her own head and open her eyes as she would watch the other woman under the water. She would blow bubbles from her nose, making them both look very silly. Yet, it was all in fun and jest. Artemis, for once in her career as a Magic Knight, found herself having fun. It had been a long time coming. [break][break]
No matter who won, Artemis and Lydia would both resurface, with Artemis laughing. “This was a silly game my siblings and I used to play. Truthfully, Apollo was the better of the three of us.” She would shake her head. “That brother of mine was always talented. His tragedy is something that is still I curse to this day.” She would shake her head then, before smiling at Lydia, “Now, you wanted to swim faster, hm? Have you ever heard of a transformation spell that turned one’s body into a mermaid?”
[attr="class","florencetext"] As the other women pulled away from the kiss Lydia would smile brightly at her waiting to see what came next. As the water mage talked about how they were going to dunk there heads underwater while holding there breath the glass mage figured it was just training to increase how long one could hold there breath which made sense in case they needed to stay under the water for a long period of time. However as the second part came out of Artemis' mouth Lydia was a little surprised she was use to the women always being serious which was something she loved about her partner. She was glad the water mage was willing to take a less serious tone around her as it meant she trusted the crimson lion mage enough to mess around. Seeing as it was a challenge there was no way she could say no. She would nod before following the water mages lead and dunking her head into the water after take a huge breath. She would open her eyes and look at the other women while blowing her ow bubbles out of her nose. [break][break] Lydia would try her best to beat the green mantis vice captain but once it got to the point it felt like her lungs were going to explode she would go back up to the surface taking a gasp of air before laughing alone with her lover. As the topic switched to Artemis family the pink haired mage realized the women never really spoke about them then again Lydia never really asked. If you don't mind me ask what happened exactly? As the women asked about the transformation magic Lydia would just shake her head. No I haven't but I suppose it makes sense some people would have spells like that to swim faster. Are you saying we should work on making one of those to swim faster?

The topic of her own brother was something that was a grim tale. Truly grim. He had been seen as the sunlight of the family, always looking towards joining expeditions, not because of the thrill of sailing, but rather he enjoyed drawing. Cartography, something that was known to be a talent of his, and would make his own downfall. [break][break] “My brother, Apollo.” She would start, letting the waves slowly push and pull her, though making sure she did not stray at all. “He was a cartographer. He loved drawing the shores, and mapping out details for our family’s collection.” She would smile then, “Yet the Spirits saw fit to take his ability to walk.” Artemis paused for a moment. “A storm. He was at the Crow’s Nest of our father’s ship when it struck. He fell. And ever since then, he could never regain his ability to walk.” There was a time when Artemis blamed herself for not being there, for not being able to catch the young man, her own brother. “He has a strong magical element. Able to conjure storms in a whim, yet it was the same power that took a part of him. At the end of the day, he became a Magic Knight of the Coral Peacocks. He has done well for himself. Though there is still a part of me that blames myself for not being there to catch him.” [break][break]
She would shake her head then, before turning her attention at the spell that she had put forth. [break][break]
“That spell, it is interesting, isn’t it?” She would muse, “I suppose it would be expected of myself, as a water mage, to have something like that.” Artemis would smile. “Maybe it would prove useful, hm? I do have a spell that transforms a whole swathe of area into a raging sea. It would prove useful if I used that terrain to my advantage, hm? What do you think?” [break][break]
Artemis would then look towards the shore. She was getting hungry, and would prompt Lydia, after answering her questions and sharing her opinions, to make their way back to shore. Artemis, after all, had a surprise for her partner.
[attr="class","florencetext"] Lydia would listen as the other women spoke about what happened to her brother. It perhaps wasn't the best first topic about someones family but the glass mage had already asked about it and there was no taking back what was asked and it seemed Artemis was fine with talking about it. The pink haired mage was able to somewhat understand how she felt after all Lydia herself had a younger brother. Well they were twins but the crimson lion mage had taken up the older sister role when they were younger after all she had always been the stronger of the two mages. I can only imagine how it must feel even though I have a brother nothing horrible like that has happened to him. That I know of anyway. It seems you brother is doing great with what he has to deal with after all becoming a magic knight isn't easy let alone without being able to walk. [break][break] The glass mage would then pause for a moment before kissing the water mage on the cheek. You can't keep blaming yourself for things that happened in the past maybe you could have caught him if you were there maybe not. No matter how much we wish to change the past we can't. Lydia would think on the questions asked of her for a few moments before giving her thoughts. I don't think just because someone as a certain element they should be expected to have a certain type of spells. That's like saying just because I have light magic I should have spells that help increase how fast I run. I mean I do but I had those kind of spells long before my light magic they just help me do it better. [break][break] However I do agree a spell like that would be useful not just for you but me as well since we work together so much and being able to move around easier in the water if you use a spell like that would give us both a huge edge. The vice captain would follow the water mage back to the shore and once they got back on try land the pink haired mage would hold a hand out to Artemis. If the other women took her hand Lydia would lead them over to the small fire motioning for the green mantis mage to sit down. Assuming the water mage sat down Lydia would join her and if Artemis allowed it the crimson eyed mage would lean her head against Arty's shoulder.

Taking Lydia’s hand, they both made it to shore. A small breeze now swept the area that they were in. From a distance, Artemis could see her flagship, the Aquarius, swaying with the sea’s current. The waves, no matter how small, would move the ship back and forth. The anchor, after all, was not something that stopped all movement. It made sure that the ship would not be taken away by the sea’s currents, and lost at sea. The majestic visage would remind Artemis of her heritage, of her bloodline that is tied explicitly to the sea. A sailor’s blood. A captain’s blood.[break][break]
The sandy shore where they had set themselves at was directly just to the port side of the large ship. Artemis would shake her head, turning away from the Aquarius.[break][break]
“Changing the past,” she would start, “that would be something, would it not?” Her past was something she had once thought needed changing. “Yet do we really want to change the past? What we have, here and now, might not have happened if we changed the past. My brother grew from his injury. I rose up from my abhorrent moniker as the delinquent noblewoman. If we change the past, those might not have happened, and truly, I don’t think I want that at all.” Artemis always preached looking forwards and up. Never looking back, only taking the lessons of the past and not letting it define your future. “To live, we must continue to look ahead, instead of looking behind us. The shadows of the past should be vanquished with the light of hope for the future.”[break][break]
The topic then turned to her spell idea. She chuckled at that. “Could you see it? You and I as mermaids? That would be interesting, hm?” It was a thought, though now she might just make it into a reality. “I will give it some thought.”[break][break]
Turning towards the basket and large satchel that she had packed earlier in the small landing craft, Artemis would nudge the woman.[break][break]
“I actually have something to show you.”[break][break]
She opened the basket to reveal three platters of food, snacks more like. Artemis had wanted to have some sort of dinner, but it was not as feasible without a Food Mage. “I packed us snacks! And a bottle of your favourite liquor.” She pulled out a bottle of the finest vintage, Lydia’s favourite. “Today is a day we unwind, so why not an impromptu picnic?”
[attr="class","florencetext"] As the two women came back to shore Lydia would think about what her partner said. Would the glass mage have changed her past if she could? It truly wasn't something she had thought about before. Sure she made mistakes when she was younger and there were still many more that the pink haired mage could still make. It is an interesting thought but I don't think I would change anything. Sure I've made mistakes and still will but no one's perfect. My past help shaped me into who I am today and I'm fine with that because I've grown from them just like everyone else has. [break][break] I'd gladly make them all over again if it meant I'd meet you every time. Lydia was going to lead the two of them towards the fire however it seemed the water mage wanted to show her something. So the crimson lion mage would follow her lover to the small boat. As the surprised was reviled Lydia would smile at Artemis. I'm glad one of us thought to bring some food because I am a little hungry. Lydia would look at the bottle of wine which her family of course made it was one of the more rare brews they had and it was indeed her favorite. It actually made the glass mage wonder how the green mantis mage managed to get a bottle of it. Lydia would give her partner another bright smile before kissing the women and pulling away after a few minutes. I love you. I'll set everything up you should take a few minutes to relax. [break][break] Assuming the water mage was fine with that Lydia would get to work setting up the picnic before motioning for the other women to join her. Seeing as you got such a nice bottle of wine which I'm curious how you got it perhaps you'd share a glass with me? The vice captain knew Artemis wasn't one to drink because of problems it caused in the past but perhaps since it was just the two of them she'd be willingly to have a cup. Depending on the answer Lydia would use her magic to make a glass or two before pouring the win and handing a glass to the water mage if she agreed.

Artemis stared at the offered cup of wine.[break][break]
There was a time when she would have said yes. Alcohol, after all, was the nectar of the gods of revelry. Artemis grew up understanding that wine was a form of drink that she needed to get used to. After all, every single family party held by any of the noble families had some sort of alcoholic beverage served. It was a staple of the upper class, of the nobility.[break][break]
Yet it had been something that Artemis knew she needed to stop consuming.[break][break]
Alcohol, any type, lowered her inhibitions. This meant that she was more prone to lapsing in her adrenaline-loving self. More than a few times, she had found herself lapsing when she had a couple of drinks, unable to curb the urge to do something that would drive up the adrenaline in her system. Whether it was a fight, or it was stealing, it would fuel her. The rush. The feeling of euphoria.[break][break]
But, Lydia was here. And, of course, they were on a deserted island. Artemis supposed that one glass would not be too bad. She could control herself. Artemis trusted herself more now than ever.[break][break]
“I suppose a small glass would be fine.” She reached over and grabbed the cup. Artemis took a sip, and found herself unused to alcohol’s taste. Nevertheless, she would be courteous enough and taste the wine for its finery. “It seems that I chose well, it definitely is a good vintage.”[break][break]
She then turned her attention towards the horizon. The sun was making its way slowly to its zenith. The heat was not bothersome, however. Artemis’ set of clothes made sure that her skin was exposed enough to the sea’s light breeze, cooling her body temperature.[break][break]
“I’m glad you liked it. I suppose it is very seldom that we find ourselves in a situation like this, hm?” She would, of course, be talking about having days off like this. “The Magic Knights. This Kingdom, we give our lives up for its continuity. For its safety.” Artemis shook her head. “Sometimes, I miss the days when the only responsibility I had was keeping the family together, and the business thriving. Now, I am a Vice Captain. Responsibility became my middle name.”[break][break]
She would turn to Lydia, “Do you ever find yourself thinking of the same thing?”
[attr="class","florencetext"]It seemed the water mage would in fact take up Lydia's offer to drink with her. Lydia would smile at Artemis not because she took the cup but because of what it meant. She trusted the glass and her control over her urges to have a drink with the pink haired women. The crimson lion captain trusted her partner enough not to give into the urge but if it happened Lydia would stop the women before she could ruin her reputation. After all if she didn't it would have been the same as betraying the women's trust which was something Lydia wouldn't even think about doing. As she took a sip of her drink the vice captain couldn't help but smile at the taste of it. I'd say we take pride in our wine but the Ravencrest family takes pride in everything we do even if our hands get a little dirty because of it. [break][break] The last part was more so Lydia talking about herself and the things she had to do in defense of clover. The glass mage would think about the other women's question for a long time the water mage always seemed to ask the hardest ones at time. It's true the life we live is dangerous but we chose this path we took an oath to defend the kingdom even if it cost our life to do so. Anyone who goes back on that disgraces those who gave there lives to defend our home and don't deserve to live. It wasn't like Lydia to willingly talk about taking another life but when it came down to matters like this the glass mage would think twice about ending the life of a person who planned on betraying the kingdom. As for days when we had less responsibility I think it's only natural to feel that way but I'd never wish to go back to those days. Not just because of my family pride but as a vice captain I have a bond with my fellow lions that most people can only dream of having. I think you'll do perfect you care deeply for your squad and want to see them all reach there peak.
