It has been quite a long time since Charles went to the Aristaeus’ Basin. Almost a year where he recently met Fuu and Suna doing their own thing. Back then the silver mage was unaware that his encounter with that blue-haired elf was going to be the start of a close friendship that has brought positive things to his life. Alongside Fuu, but it's not like the Black Bull particularly cared about the Green Mantis because of her rather annoying and prideful nature. It felt like this wasn't too long about, a lot of time has passed. He has changed, he was a Junior mage back then and now he was a Senior mage. Time flows constantly, whether he noticed it or not. Unlike the previous time he was there which resulted in him engaging in social interaction with Suna and Fuu, Charles was here for a different reason. Now he had a mission to do as a Magic Knight, more specifically alongside his Vice-Captain, Rosalia. [break][break] Reports of some man-eating plants around the Aristaeus' Basin and they were starting to get problematic. So they decided to call in the Magic Knights to deal with it. The place around him felt different from the last time he was here, but that was mainly because he now has the ability to sense the Ki around him. As expected they were multiple living beings in this place, it was quite vivid of animals and plants compared to other places like the towns he has found himself in. The only similarity between the two was a large amount of Ki signatures in it. Charles was now waiting for the arrival of Vice-Captain Rosalia in order to get things started. It has been a while since he last did a mission with her, so he was a bit curious as to how things will go now. It has been a while since she obtained the position of Vice-Captain and she even took part in the recovery of Kikka alongside Chisana. Despite not showing it a lot, the silver mage was quite relieved to see that the two Black Bulls made it out of Kikka safe and sound. Kikka was a hellhole and it was without a doubt that the two experienced it as well. He was curious if Rosalia intended to try and fight Captain Malcolm in an attempt to obtain the position of Captain. She originally said that she wanted to help Malcolm, but he wondered if that perspective changed. It was only natural if she desired to go for the Captain position despite Malcolm being her best friend, but he would respect her decision if she didn't want to go for it either. Then there was also Chisana who wanted to go for the Vice-Captain position and eventually the Captain position. Anyway, the main focus was the mission. He was going to ask her if she was fine with it at the appropriate time. [break]
Rosalia opened her eyes slowly, regarding the man she was lying on top of silently. The way his hair was a mess, the way his chest lifted and fell as he slept, the way his arms held her, the way his lips looked so kissable. He was all kissable, to be fair. Every single centimetre of him was god-given perfection in its imperfection and the ice witch had no clue what to do about it. They’d had a deal. And it was almost a year since the deal was made, hence, her need to sort her thoughts out. Would she really, legitimately, give herself a shot with a man she definitely didn’t deserve? The way he held her said he thought otherwise. No matter how many times she’d tried to push him away, to dissuade him, he’d always pull her back, keep her grounded, tell her how much he valued her for who she was. It was lovely. It was horrible. It was not what she wanted. Yet some part of her yearned for it. For a future with someone who didn’t look at another woman and…dared to care for her. [break][break] Her pale hand ran up his chiselled chest and she sighed. She had work to do today, so they couldn’t just sleep in and cuddle (as much as she’d rather just remain next to the large warm bear beside her) there were responsibilities that she had to uphold. As a magic knight and as a Vice Captain, what she wanted as a person and as a woman was inferior to her job. It always had been. The beauty would wake him up as she slipped out of his arms and give him a little apologetic smile, telling him to go back to bed…but he’d follow her to the shower instead. Just to spend more time with her. They’d chat about the specifics of her mission and briefly discuss her partner, Charles. She’d have a hard time pushing the man out of her room as she dressed, and make small talk, trying to dissuade him from bothering to make breakfast. He did so either way. As was typical for their mornings. He had a tendency to not let her slip into her bad habits of skipping meals. [break][break] After a few bites of eggs and toast, the beauty was ready to go, dressed in her traditional tight leather and suede one-piece designed by Luigi di Castle. Her steps echoed down the wooden hallways of the Black Bulls’ base, and she gave her allies a grin when she saw them at the main hall. [break][break] A bark tore her attention away from her sqaudmates and onto the squad’s loyal white wolf companion- Night. His wings were folded in and his tail was wagging, making the Vice Captain giggle and pet the mana beast. “Good morning to you too boy.” She even gave him a little kiss on the snout. Some of the elder members of the squad had a tendency to joke that Charles and Night were both illegitimate children on the Captain and Vice-Captain. An entertaining notion that Rosalia loved to tease the other squad members about. [break][break] She’d grabbed Charon’s Claw and her Magic Knight Mantle on the way out, a grin on her lips as she went through the opened portal. It seemed that Charles was ahead of her and already near the mission location. Upon finding herself where she's meant to be her ruby eyes landed on her partner and close friend. “Good morning, I see you’re taking your responsibilities on mission day seriously. Lovely.” She couldn’t resist giving his hair an adoring ruffle
“Hope you had breakfast.” The beauty made small talk with her close friend and partner as she looked around the surrounding territory. “I imagine we’d have even more to eat if all goes well with this mission.” Rosalia joked with a grin. Until she heard a worrying shout in the distance. [break][break]

Charles waited for his Vice-Captains arrival. While the reason he decided to arrive ahead of her is that he had to run an errand which just happened to be nearby Aristaeus' Basin. The silver mage had been picking up with his physical training so he could properly learn how to use Ki. A technique that allowed him to make up for his poor sensory ability and allowed him to feel the natural energy around him. [break][break] After waiting a few minutes, Rosalia eventually arrived at his location. Charles turned to look at the portal that opened behind him. She was transported to the location by the spatial mage who was also a member of the Black Bulls. "I have my reasons..." He immediately replied to his ice mage's comment that mentioned him taking his work seriously. While his only thought was that some money was never bad. Plus, it had been a while ever since he last went on a mission with the Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls. "I did, don't worry... That's one of the reasons why I wanted to do the mission. Good food is always welcomed, though sometimes it is hard to obtain." It was one of the reasons why he wanted to do the mission. Hell, he wouldn't be really motivated for the missions if he didn't get paid for doing them. The payment was good, so it was worth it. "Anyway... Let's get this mission over with." The silver mage closed his eyes and used Ki to perceive the surrounding area, even though he had previous used it. He wanted to ensure that those man-eating plants still remained in the same location. Charles opened his eyes once again and turned to look at Rosalia. "I sense several of those men-eating plants up ahead. They have a very particular Ki, so they weren't that hard to track down." He was quick to pinpoint their location, this made it easier so the two didn't end up getting ambushed by those plants. Which will likely make things more difficult for the two Black Bulls. [break][break] The silver mage went ahead and began walking towards the location of those plants. As usual, the lazy magic knight just wanted to get the job over with as soon as possible. Also, assuming that Rosalia was following right behind him with the same intentions in mind. It didn't take long for him and Rosa, assuming she tagged alone to arrive at the location of those men-eating plants. Upon arriving at first he saw several large tomatoes with jaws and appendages. Charles could else sense something was off, there was something underground. The Ki he sensed underground felt similar to the large tomatoes ahead of him. They were likely some other plants that could possibly ambush them. "I feel some of those things underground, they'll probably try to ambush us when they think they have the chance to." He warned Rosalia about the monsters that were underground in order for her to be prepared to dodge anything coming from the ground if necessary. His newly acquired ability resulted in being useful in this situation.
