The mana beasts in the travelling circus have gone crazy! Somebody sabotaged the performances and now the creatures have gotten lose and have started attacking the performers and the audience. The Magic Knights were called to take care of the problem quickly before the beasts completely make Kikka their home.

Kikka... A place with memories and experiences he would never forget, not in a good way like some people may think. The town the Daemons attacked almost a year ago and was captured just a few months ago. A reminder of his failures as a person, as a Magic Knight, and his inability to do more. Just a single mention of the city was enough to trigger the unpleasant memories that he witnessed that day. Ever since that occurred Charles openly avoided going to Kikka for safety measures. Back then, he felt responsible for being able to much and prolonging the suffering of the civilians that were stuck in the town for a long period of time. Now that he had returned to the Clover Kingdom it was time for him to face his demon's head on and it came in the form of heading back to the place where everything took place. Although, there was a good reason he was heading to Kikka. It was the form of a mission, after returning it was expected for him to go back on taking missions. After everything that took place a good portion of the town appeared to had been rebuilt and it seemed as if nothing had happened, but of course, some people were probably still recovering from the number of losses. [break][break] Charles arrived at the once destroyed town of Kikka after taking on a mission. Apparently, some mana beasts from a circus that was in the town went crazy and started to go on a rampage. Attacking both performers and spectators, he was called to take care of the problem, but aside from that, he decided to call a good friend on him to give him a hand on the current mission, Hans Walker. The silver mage was aware that the mercenary began earning a name of his own around several places, that included the Magic Knights. After all, he took place in the liberation of Kikka and was a capable man in his own right. It could be mentioned that he was likely in the level of a Magic Knight Vice-Captain. It's been a while since he last saw the mercenary, so doing a mission again after a while of not seeing each other was a good idea for old time's sakes. Hopefully, Hans wouldn't have a hard time recognizing him just like Suna did when they first saw each other again. He awaited in the streets somewhere around the places supposedly went rampage. For now he was just doing some scouting and information gathering, but the real threat hasn't showed yet, which was a good time for him to wait for the arrival of the dark mage. [break]

Kikka....
It has been about a year since Kikka was thrown into darkness that lasted months, but to Hans it felt like it was just yesterday. This was the first time the dark mage set foot in this town since that day and he would be lying if he said that he felt at ease. The town has long since repaired, but the "scars" left behind would never recover. There will always be constant reminders of the daemons, the deceptive illusions, and the dark dome that fell upon this town. Hans was certainly not going to forget anytime soon.
Still, seeing the town mostly back to normal now felt a little surreal to Hans. The merc thought that he should be happy to see Kikka back in its natural state...but this only opened his eyes to the possibility of other towns potentially suffering the same fate...Ordinary lives thrown into a spiral of madness and despair with little to no warning. Hans felt most worried about Aries Garse in that regard. The dark mage was already aware of sinister threats far stronger than himself...but to be face to face with such forces just like those daemons made it feel much worse. Now with the threat of the Archdaemons on the horizon, the Kingdom was starting to feel less safe than it already is.....
It's for these reasons that Hans has decided to step up, and help become a defender of this Kingdom. He wasn't exactly doing it for the Kingdom as a whole like a Magic Knight, but for those he cares for from the people he considers allies, those he considers close friends or family, and for his fiancee. This is what led Hans into becoming a Royal Knight...along with his growing curiosity over the order of the Magic Knights. Perhaps his experience as a Royal Knight will persuade him into actually joining one of the squads.
Speaking of...
Hans got a bit distracted. He was here to meet up with Charles who he hasn't seen in some time to help him out with a mission...but Hans got sidetracked on his way. He stood in front of the Purple Orca base, silently looking up at the structure. Whispers and mutters could be heard from most of the civilians walking past, most of them commenting on Hans due to his growing fame, especially in this town. But Hans didn't pay them any mind. He continued to look up at the building where one of the final battles took place to take back Kikka. Out of all the squads, this one stuck out to Hans a little more, mostly due to its specialty in defenses.
"The shield of Clover..." he muttered to himself. The merc sighed before walking off. For now, Hans thought it would be best to focus on the present.
The dark mage arrived at where he was supposed to meet Charles, but noticed he wasn't here...or so he thought. Hans looked around...until his ki picked up on something..or rather someone familiar. "Hm...Charles?" Hans walked up to the figure with the familiar ki, looking a little cautious at first. "Wait....Charles?" Hans said again, blinking a few times. He looked...different, but Hans couldn't put a finger on what that difference is. "It's been...a while." Hans added, not trying to dwell on Charles' appearance for long. Regardless of how he looks, Hans was glad to see the silver mage again. "How are you holding up?" The dark mage asked before glancing to the side, presumably towards the location of the circus. "Also, do you mind filling me in on this mission again?" he added, adjusting his three sheathed swords a bit on his waist.

After waiting for several minutes, Charles felt a familiar Ki approaching him, it was Hans, of course. It has been a while since he last saw the dark mage. Naturally, one of his first ideas was to call him for a mission since it has been a while since the two did a mission together. All for the sake of making the job much easier and being able to talk to the mercenary once again. "Yo, Hans." The silver mage raised his hand upon spotting him, although in a similar fashion as to how Suna reacted to seeing him. It appeared that Hans could barely recognize him aside from the familiar Ki he could feel. "Yeah... It has... I've been alright, dealing with work after taking a long trip outside the Kingdom... How about you?" He replied, he didn't have much to say or talk about aside from his journey. Charles was actually more curious as to what Hans was up to, given that he was probably much more up to date with the events that were taking place in the Kingdom compared to him. It felt strange for him to come back to the place where it all started, the dark mage probably felt the same way too. Kikka had been reconstructed after it was liberated by the hands of the Archdaemon, Sven. Still, after everything can happen, no amount of rebuilding would make everyone forget the fear, pain, and desperation everyone felt. "Feels strange to be back to this place... After everything has happened." [break][break] As for the mission, it was rather simple, at least the problem they faced was quite simple considering how many things the town had to go through. "So from what I was told a circus arrived here and their performances included mana beasts. Someone sabotaged the performances and the mana beasts were set free. Our job here is to get rid of them before they turn Kikka into their turf." Now instead of preventing Kikka from becoming the new home of the daemons, they had to prevent the town from becoming the home of mana beasts. Although, personally he would take the latter any day over having to deal with daemons. Mana beasts were a threat they were both familiar with. "Alright then... Let's get going, the circus shouldn't be too far from here." After explaining to Hans about their job, Charles walked all the way where the circus was located. It was for the best to start there as it was more than likely the mana beasts would somewhere around it. Eventually, as he made his way down towards the location of the circus. The silver mage felt the Ki of the mana beasts nearby, they were several of them which was concerning. "I can feel several of them, not too far... What a pain in the ass... It would've been better if they were fewer of them." He sighed and unsheathed his sword, preparing himself battle as his grimoire rose up from its holster and floated next to him. A silver shield appeared on his left wrist, a spell was casted to defend himself from any upcoming attacks while he attacked. His sword was kept in his right hand. Now he just waited for Hans to officially move in and engage the enemies. [break]

"Outside the Kingdom, huh?" Hans was a little curious about this, but thought it best not to pry unless Charles wanted to go into detail about it himself. This explains why the dark mage hasn't seen him in a while though, and from the looks of it, the silver mage must've been quite busy while he was away. Hans is going to be looking forward to how much Charles has grown when it comes to his magic and skills during this job.
"Me?" Hans asked, referring to Charles' question. The dark mage looked away as he pondered over this for a few seconds. "Well, nothing to complain about." Hans added before crossing his arms. "You're probably aware of this now, but the Kingdom's daemon problems have subsided...." Hans said with a hint of jest before gesturing his head a bit towards the town, referring to the current state of Kikka. "....for now." Of course, Hans couldn't keep this conversation light-hearted for long....especially with an even greater threat on the horizon. "But yes, being here again feels so...surreal." Hans added before lowering his arms to his sides.
"I take it you've already heard about the Witch Queen?" Hans asked as he looked away. The dark mage was making sure to stay quiet enough for only Charles to hear, not wanting the citizens of this town to go into a panic...especially with what these poor people have already had to go through. It was likely they already knew about this along with the rest of the Kingdom, but they probably do not want to hear even more about it. "I fear something worse than the previous attacks are on the horizon." Hans said, finally looking back over at the silver mage. If the Kingdom is calling upon the Royal Knights for this, then that should be evidence enough...speaking of...
"So....I decided to join the Royal Knights." Hans added, looking away from his friend once more. He didn't go into detail about why he joined despite him not being duty-bound to the crown like the Magic Knights. He didn't need to go into detail since he felt that Charles would get the picture as to why he's preparing to risk his life once more.
Not wanting to dwell on this topic for long, Hans asked about the mission and he listened quietly to Charles' response. "Hmm, better mana beasts than dealing with daemons, yeah?" Hans added with a little smirk, trying to make things a little light again. The dark mage was no longer the quiet reserved guy he used to be that only focused on getting things done...well for the most part. He has grown quite a bit himself, participating a bit more in conversations...and even cracking sly little remarks towards those he has grown close to such as what he said before. He had people like Charles and Suna along with many others to thank for that.
Speaking of Suna....
As Hans walked with Charles to their destination, the merc was quiet for the most part...until something popped in his head, causing him to raise his head a little. "I-I uh...I proposed to Suna...by the way..." The dark mage added, trying to place more good news over the heavy stuff that the two previously discussed. The dark mage couldn't help, but get flustered a bit from mentioning this, rubbing the back of his head in the process. He still couldn't believe he of all people did this...and he still couldn't believe that she said yes. Hans may be confident in most things...but when it comes to his...love life, it was al little back and forth.
Soon, the duo would arrive to the circus which is currently being barricaded to keep the civilians out of harm's way, and just like Charles, Hans picked up on the mana beasts with his ki. Hans saw the life energy within these figures and nodded as Charles commented on there being several. Fortunately, Hans did not sense any citizens trapped inside, so they must've been safely able to get out. "Some things never change, huh Charles?" Hans added, referring to a bit of the laziness that was bleeding out through the silver mage's comment. "Let's see how strong you've gotten with that sword of yours. Hans said, before unsheathing one of his swords, his katana, Dark Edge.
With another nod, Hans headed past the barricade presumably with Charles....but before he could actually enter the circus itself, the dark mage picked up on some of those ki signatures outside of it....
A hiss could be heard from something charging at the dark mage from the left, but thanks to his ki, Hans was able to quickly react by turning around and impaling the incoming creature in the top of its head with his sword, swiftly ending it! "Hmm..." Hans looked down to see that it was some lizard with faint smoke coming from its body probably from a magic attack it was planning to use. Of course that wasn't the only creature. Eleven more of those lizard things reared their ugly heads, hissing at the two mages as fire rose from their bodies! "Seems that some of them made their way out of the circus..." Hans added before preparing his sword. These mana beasts weren't much of an issue, but that wasn't Hans' concern. "Don't let them get past the barricades...Can't risk them running into the town."

"Yeah... It was a long story... Maybe I'll tell you about it later since I'll need at least a few hours." Charles replied, not particularly minding to talk about it, but it was something that would make him a good time to go into detail. The time that he didn't have at the time as they were are about to start a mission. If anything such a journey took him more time than he had initially expected, a few weeks and maybe up to a month trip took a few months. Much more time than he had initially expected. Following his question towards Hans, he was right. The issues with the daemons had subsided for the time being, but how long would it remain that way. They were still a few Archdaemons around, likely as strong if not stronger than Sven. Although the recent defeat of some of the Archdaemons caused them to retreat for a bit. The Clover Kingdom has won the battle, but not the war. "...How long has it been? Almost a year, right? Even though it feels as if we were here just a few days ago..." Charles nodded, he agreed fully with the dark mage. It was surreal and it was hard to believe how much time has passed. The town was filled with so many unpleasant memories, but at least things seemed to have improved, perhaps the two could create better memories from Kikka instead of just having such dark moments from the town to remain there forever. [break][break] "I was told, apparently she was actually a daemon all along?" He replied, although he lowered his voice just like Hans as to not grab any unnecessary attention. Someone who the Wizard King initially thought was an ally resulted to be one of their enemies the entire time and they didn't know. The fact that the most powerful mage in the entire Kingdom couldn't figure that out until now meant that there was the possibility of possible allies being daemons, as much as he didn't want to think about that, there was a chance. "Mhm... You're right about that. Everyone, especially the ones on the top believes that. Otherwise, they wouldn't have called upon the Royal Knights. They only do that under severe circumstances." If they called upon the Royal Knights then it meant that they required the most powerful mages in the Kingdom to team up and launch a possible offensive on the daemons. Charles was completely unaware of the plans the Royal Knights had, but it wouldn't be surprising if their main objective was to bring the battle to the enemy's territory. As payback for what they did to the Clover Kingdom. "So you ended up joining them? Suna told me you were going to try and join in the exams. Glad you actually made it in... What made you change your mind?" He asked, although he didn't try to pry in too much. The Black Bull remembered when he first met Hans he had no particular interest in joining the Magic Knights. So his sudden desire to join the Royal Knights was something he found unexpected. Perhaps, the mercenary had a change of heart after everything he went through and had grown a desire to protect his loved ones. Either way, he was aware that Hans was a good man and a capable one at that. Now he was in the most important military organization in the Kingdom. Whatever mission he was going to embark on, it was likely going to be harder and more dangerous than Kikka or anything he had experienced. "Risky... But, it's good to know we have people like you in the Royal Knights. Doesn't seem all like you, but Kikka changed all of us." Now that they were on the topic in regards to their goals and objectives. The silver mage already had one of his own. "I've been trying to do my part too. I'll be taking the exam to become the Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls soon..." Just like he understood Hans. The dark mage probably knew the reasons behind Charles's desire to become a Vice-Captain and maybe at some point reach the position of Captain. For someone as lazy as him, it was a big step. The same way as how it was a large step for a mere mercenary who only did jobs for money to become a Royal Knight. The two had changed a lot since they last saw each other and this conversation was proof of it. [break][break] "Oh yeah... Definitely, I'll prefer this any other day than having to deal with those guys again." Not only were they extremely powerful, but the biggest pain in the ass to ever exist in the entire Clover Kingdom. At this point, Charles could use the word "daemon" as a way to describe massive amounts of annoyance towards something. "Daemon is just a synonym for pain in the ass..." Charles then smiled at the dark mage's comment about proposing to Suna. Although, already aware of it. He patted Hans's shoulder, giving him a nod of approval which was followed by a smile. "Suna already told me about it. I actually encountered her on my back to the base the day I arrived at the Kingdom. About time you did, huh... Congratulations man... I'm happy for you two." [break][break] Now, it was time to focus on the mission. The good thing was that they were no civilians nearby as it seemed that all the civilians left as soon as the mana beasts started to wreak havoc. Still, it wouldn't take long before they find someone and start attacking them if they left things the way they were. "Nope. Well then... If you say so, let's see how good you got since you're a Royal Knight now, Hans..." He laughed at his comment, following up by wanting to see how much the dark mage had improved after they last saw each other. If he was a Royal Knight now, that meant that he was much more capable than most of the high-ranking members inside the Magic Knights. The two now headed towards the direction of the circus where the beasts had broken loose. It was now time to get rid of them. Naturally, Charles would want to get rid of them as fast as possible so he can call it a day. He witnessed Hans starting off by attacking one of the mana beasts, as a fair share of them managed to get outside. For now, it was their priority to get rid of those first before going inside the circus. "Yeah... Let's get rid of these ones first..." As he held his shield in his left wrist to protect himself, he aimed at one of the lizards that were outside the circus. The silver mage extended his hand and opened it. A crackle could be heard from his hand as sparks of lightning came off from it. Multiple small silver shards were released towards the direction of the lizard, going through its skin and successfully killing it. While they were small, they were quite sharp and lethal. More of them were coming, and one of them used their fire breath towards Charles which resulted in him putting his shield in front of him to block the fire that was coming towards him. Alongside given Hans an opening to attack it. [break]

Hans nodded quietly at Charles. Hans wouldn't mind hearing what the silver mage has been up to, and would be nice to catch up perhaps over a drink. But now the two were talking about the state of Kikka which the dark mage listened quietly as Charles spoke. "Yeah...a year." Time really felt like it's been moving fast. Hans still couldn't believe it has been that long...especially when it felt like he was trapped in that unforgiving dark dome for decades. As for Charles' question about why Hans decided to join the Royal Knights, the dark mage just crossed his arms and looked off to the distance, watching as some children played without a care in the world. "Guess you can say, I'm just looking out for the future..." Hans claimed which could be taken in more ways than one. Of course, there was also his desire to protect those close to him, but he technically didn't need to be a Royal Knight to do that.
The merc could only chuckle lightly at Charles' comment about this not being like him. Deep down, Hans couldn't agree more. The Hans that Charles met way back during that wolf business didn't think much about the Kingdom as a whole. The dark mage was only looking out for himself and was even worse during his late teens, having used to take very...unethical mercenary jobs. Over time, Hans went through many changes...and just like Charles commented, one of the sources of said change was Kikka.
"That's good to hear, Charles." Hans said with a nod, referring to his Vice-Captain comment. "The Black Bulls...no, the Magic Knights are fortunate to have someone like you within its ranks. You'll make a good Vice-Captain." Hans claimed, and he wasn't just saying this to be nice. He has seen firsthand what Charles is capable of both physically and mentally. There is no doubt in the dark mage's mind that Charles will only get better as he continues to push forward.
Onto the wedding talk..."Oh, she did?" Hans asked while rubbing the back of his neck a bit as he averted his eyes. "Ah, thanks..." It was still a bit clear that the big tough dark mage is still a bit of a softie when this stuff is brought up. "I'll see you there then I hope." Hans added. There was no way he or Suna would forget to invite the silver mage. The dark mage would want nothing more than all his friends and loved ones to be there.
Now for the mission, Hans gave Charles a battle-ready smirk from his comment. After killing one of the lizards, Hans watched as Charles made quick work of another one using one of his bizarre silver lightning spells. The dark mage didn't expect anything less. But of course, this would alert the remaining ten lizards and they were all heading the duo's way! The dark mage picked up on this with his ki and slowly slid his sword from out of that lizard corpse's head. As one of the lizards was distracted with trying to burn through Charles' shield, Hans rushed at it from the side and effortlessly sliced through its neck, causing its head to drop to the ground followed by the body!
One more lizard attempted to attack Hans from behind, charging at the dark mage with its body engulfed in flames through physical reinforcement, but Hans' ki sensory picked up on this in time for him to twist his upper body a bit with sword in hand to slice straight through its stomach, cutting the mana beast in half! As soon as that finished, two more lizards attempted to strike Hans from opposite sides with their fire breaths! The dark mage's grimoire rose to his side and was now engulfed in a dark aura. A similar aura formed around Hans, but then it slowly morphed into a mist-like shape that continued to linger around the man. As the flames made contact, they were ineffective against harming Hans, and the dark mage took advantage of this to run up to one of the two as it effortlessly continued to burn the dark mage down but instead found itself getting sliced in two from the dark mage's swift sword strike!
The other lizard stopped firing its flames and hissed annoyingly before rushing at the dark mage, but it would soon find out that this would be another feeble attempt.
The lizard jumped up with its body in flames, but Hans turned his body and performed a roundhouse kick, not killing that lizard but sending it flying towards Charles so that he can finish it off...if he isn't too preoccupied with the other lizards to notice. The duo needed to finish these guys off quickly so that they could handle the ones that were still inside the circus!

"You think so? Heh, thank you then." Charles said, letting out a brief laugh from the dark mage's comment. It was funny, a year ago he didn't saw himself pursuing such a goal. One of the reasons was because it required a lot of work to reach and it also meant that as a Vice-Captain. Higher payment aside, after the previous Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls, Rosalia stepped down, it was up to him to fill in the vacant space of Vice-Captain. He believed that's the least he could do help to give his Captain a hand after helping him out to deal with the trauma he experienced in Kikka. The conversation followed with Hans's engagement with Suna. In his eyes, it was about time he proposed to her, the two had been together for a while now. "Of course, I expect an invite soon... Don't worry, I wouldn't be going there for the food only, after all, I gotta be present to celebrate the marriage of my two friends, no?" He replied, smiling at the dark mage, proving that he was genuinely happy about their marriage. After so much negativity plaguing the Kingdom for him, the marriage between Hans and Suna was the best news he could receive after coming back. The silver mage was definitely going to make sure to be present for the wedding ceremony. [break][break] Now back to the mission. The two mages managed to make quick work of the beasts that plagued the circus. Easily taking them out with their magic. The only issue is that several of them still remained. Charles used his shield to protect himself from the incoming fire that came from the lizard. Hans managed to use that as an opportunity to take out the mana beast that was in front of him, making it easier for the silver mage to jump back into battle. Hans has certainly improved, he could feel the strength of his spells through the magical energy they emitted and Ki. It could even be said that while he was gone, the dark mage's magic abilities far surpassed his, as expected from a user of a four-leaf grimoire. No wonder he managed to become a Royal Knight. The battle continued with Hans sending it flying towards him, for Charles this was more like an easy kill for him. As the fire-lizard was sent flying towards him, silver spikes rose up from the ground and extended all the way towards the direction of the incoming mana beast, fully impaling it upon impact and killing it. Despite, taking out a fair share of mana beasts, several of them still remained. Just how many monsters did that circus have? Who brings so many beasts? No wonder it was so easy for them to get out. Another of the fire lizards attempted to growled and lunged at the silver mage, which resulted in him blocking the attack with his shield and using his other hand to attack the mana beast with his magic. Sparks of electricity could be heard and seen coming from out his hand, sending shards of electrified silver towards the mana beasts penetrating through its skin and killing it. They were definitely a pain in the ass. He could sense at least six more of those fire lizards remained, it was one of a few times he fought so many enemies outside of a dungeon and he was mildly annoyed by it because it involved a lot more effort, in situations like this he would just use an area of effect spell, but since after Kikka and because he was LITERALLY in Kikka. There was very little inclination to do so in the first place. It was possible that the dark mage was also holding back because he was in Kikka as well and didn't want to do any damages to the town after it got repaired just a few months ago. [break]

"Good to hear, and don't worry...There's going to be plenty of food." Hans claimed with a light smirk. He knew that Charles wasn't just going for the food, but he knew that the silver mage would be glad to hear this. All and all, Charles isn't just an ally, but a really good friend that the dark mage was glad to meet.
But onto the mission...
As expected, Charles made quick work of the lizard that was sent flying his way. Hans gave an approving nod with a small smile. The silver mage has truly grown since he has last seen him. Hans was glad that Charles didn't let his potential go to waste, but he still has a ways to go. Hans was the same though. The dark mage has gotten quite strong himself, but he knew better than to let this get to his head. The dark mage is completely aware that he has a lot more to learn, especially with the threats looming over the kingdom.
The dark mage turned his attention to the remaining six lizards who all appeared to have grouped up. Even these mana beasts are able to learn from their mistakes, deciding to team up instead of going at it solo like the previous six that were slain by the two mages. Hans respected that...but they were still a threat that needed to be eliminated. The lizards all charged towards the two mages! One of them attempted to attack Hans from the front while two others were aiming to attack the dark mage's sides! The first lizard attempted to ram into Hans with its ignited body while those other two shot flames from their mouths which all successfully hit their marks....but unfortunately for them, Hans still had his defense spell up, rendering their attempts useless.
The first lizard bounced off of Hans' body, but before it could land back onto the ground, Hans swiftly sliced its throat with his katana, and followed up by impaling one of the other lizards in the head! Hans was just about to attack the third lizard that was still firing its flames, but then the fourth lizard latched its flaming teeth onto Hans arm, trying to prevent the dark mage from striking its comrade. The fifth and sixth lizards followed the fourth one's lead and bit down on the dark mage's ankles! Those lizards were trying to keep Hans in place so that the other one could continue firing its flames at him...but Hans was not that easy to take down.
"Hunter's Might..."
Another dark aura engulfed Hans...before taking on a shape similar to that of a hunter's cloak. Not only did this double up the dark mage's defenses by being stacked up on top of his current one...but this spell also increased his physical strength!
Hans effortlessly shook that one lizard from his arm with his enhanced strength and impaled it in the stomach! He then started to walk his way over to the lizard that was still firing its flames at him, dragging along the lizards that were still latching onto his ankles in the process. Once he was close enough, Hans grabbed the lizard by the throat, and chucked it into the air! As it started to fall back down, Hans held his sword up so that it could impale the mana beast! With that one out of the way, Hans knocked the other two off of his ankles and proceeded to kick one of their faces in before stepping on the other one's head, crushing it in!
With that, the lizards were finished...but the duo wasn't finished yet. Hans looked over at Charles before gesturing his head over at the circus. "There are another twelve signatures still inside." Hans claimed but as he stepped closer to the entrance, Hans paused and rose an eyebrow. "Wait...there's...thirteen?" Hans claimed, sounding a little confused about the extra ki signature. "This one doesn't feel like a beast...." Which only meant...that it was a civilian!
Looking over at Charles once more, Hans nodded and quickly rushed inside! The inside of the circus was in shambles. Various equipment was destroyed, audience stands were crumbling. The walls of the circus also had various tears and damages. Then of course there were quite a few mana beasts roaming around. Twelve just as Hans predicted, but they were different from the lizards. Most of them appeared to be scorpions, while the remaining two were some thorny creatures. All of the beasts appeared to be preoccupied with themselves and haven't noticed the duo yet, assuming Charles came in with Hans.
"Twelve...but where is that thirteenth signature..." Hans muttered, trying to track it until his eyes set upon a broken stand. He could see someone hiding underneath it....a little girl who was shaking in fear. Hans could've sworn that this place was evacuated...but it looks like someone was forgotten. She had her mouth covered most likely to keep herself from screaming...but one of those scorpions was starting to get dangerously close to that area. The dark mage needed to act fast....
The scorpion inched closer...and closer, but before it could find that girl, the scorpion let out a screech in pain! The girl curious about what happened, peeked her head out a little, and saw that the scorpion had a sword impaled through it! Hans had thrown his sword and was able to hit his mark!
However, this alerted the rest of the beasts to the duo's presence! All beastly eyes were now on the two mages which were at least good for the little girl. That is what Hans wanted. So now...it was time to clean house!

The lizards were truly a pain in the ass, even with the best of their efforts. Several of them still remained in front of them. Truth be told, Hans's magical abilities had increased a lot. Part of this was expected from someone who had a four-leaf grimoire on them, someone who possessed such grimoire meant they were blessed by mana and it also signified good luck. Although, Charles believed to be the one lucky instead of him, lucky to had been able to meet both him and Suna who were good friends to him. It seemed like the dark mage wanted to get slightly more serious now and decided to get rid of them. One of the dark mage's spells was still up which managed to defend them from the flames of the enemies. It appeared as the lizards were targeting Hans instead of him. Dark Magic was known for its powerful defensive abilities and this was proof of it. He noticed a dark cloak made out of its own element form on the dark mage, it appeared to work as an additional barrier, but also as a physical reinforcement spell? The silver mage noticed that Hans had just effortlessly impaled one of the fire lizards with his hand. That definitely had to be a physical reinforcement spell as someone wouldn't naturally have such strength. In less than a minute Hans had managed to take out the remaining of the fire lizards, it seemed like someone was in a rush. Well, he didn't blame him, after all, he had the same thoughts after dealing with those lizards for a while. "Nice..." [break][break] Charles looked over at Hans after finishing off the last remaining lizards in the outside and then to the circus after the dark mage had gestured him towards it. "...Thirteen? Shit! He quickly realized what that meant at the same time as Hans. The silver mage rushed to the circle alongside him, this meant that a civilian was in danger and they had to be fast. He arrived at the circus a bit after Hans and noticed that he had managed to take out of the scorpions. A little girl was paralyzed in fear from the mana beasts and didn't know what to do. Now the mana beasts had their attention on the two mages. "For safety measures... Silver Hero's Shield, protect her." A shield made out of silver appeared in front of the little girl, for safety measures. If somehow one of the mana beasts attempted to jump her, the shield would protect her first and buy enough time for the others to take out the mana beasts. Charles already had an idea to get rid of the scorpions quickly and he didn't want to risk hurting the girl. The ring on the silver mage's finger began to glow as a mist began to surround his entire body and a moment later, it would appear as if he had disappeared. As for Hans, even if he was unable to see him, he was able to clearly feel his presence inside the circus. He extended both of his hands, creating two silver swords, one in each of his hands. Moving towards the direction where the scorpions were coming. It wouldn't surprise him if they managed to detect him, but before they made a move he stabbed both of the swords of the ground. A field of electricity came out of the two swords, electrocuting all the nine remaining scorpions in the place and taking them out in one go. The spell itself wasn't even that strong as Hans's defense spell could easily protect him from the attack and as for the little girl, she was left unscathed as his own shield had absorbed any damage she would've taken under normal circumstances. The place was already damaged by the mana beasts, so nobody would mind if it got a bit more damaged anyway. Charles reappeared once again in front of the two and looked back at both Hans and the little girl. "You two alright?" A reckless move on his part, but given the circumstances, it was needed. If he remembered correctly, that made nine scorpions, plus one that the dark mage killed earlier. Doing the math, then it meant two more enemies remained inside the circus. "Two remain..." [break]

The sword deals intermediate damage and is capable of creating a temporary lightning field which lasts a few seconds inside an area of 20 meters. He can also create additional swords (20 control required per extra sword). If the user also desires he can also use the sword as a weapon instead of throwing it, but if the user wants to keep using he will use mana to sustain it.

Through Hans' quick thinking, the little girl was saved from that one scorpion! She still appeared to be a little shaken up, but she managed to shyly look over at the dark mage and eventually the silver mage when he arrived. She didn't say a word, but one could tell from her eyes alone that the girl was begging for their help. She wanted to make it out of this alive, be reunited with her parents or whoever is caring for her. When the dark mage went over to retrieve his sword, he gave the girl a small, but reassuring smile with a light nod....more evidence on how much Hans has changed. One could say that he has gotten a bit soft...but the dark mage believes that this has only made him stronger.
The man then turned his attention to Charles as he placed a defense spell on the girl. "Good thinking." the dark mage said, but then his attention was brought back to the beasts as he heard one of the scorpion's screech, and attempt to pounce on the girl, causing her to scream a little, but stopped the moment the scorpion smacked itself against the shield instead, failing to get its prey. Just like Hans' defenses, Charles' was powerful too. The dark mage did not need to worry much about the girl now since Charles has that covered. He gave the man an approving nod, but then rose an eyebrow as he watched the silver mage disappear. "Hmm." Hans could still feel the silver mage's presence with his ki sensing, watching where he was heading. He didn't know that Charles was a sensory mage. This just reminded Hans more of how long it has been since he last saw him, and how much the silver mage obviously has grown since.
The mana beasts however weren't blessed with good enough sensory, so Charles was completely invisible to them. With that, all of the scorpions turned their attention to Hans which the man prepared himself with his sword. They all were now rushing towards the dark mage, some of them slipping through the shadows which gave away their element and illusion abilities. The dark mage watched them carefully, planning on the right moment to strike...but then he noticed from the corner of his eyes that Charles was doing something. The silver mage stuck two swords into the ground, causing a burst of electricity to come out, electrocuting all of the remaining scorpions! That same electricity surged around Hans, but his defense spell blocked it, so no damage was taken. Most importantly, the little girl was being protected by Charles' own defense spell as well so no harm came to her.
Slowly, the girl's expressions of fear were replaced with that of awe at how strong the silver mage is. Hans was impressed as well, but there was no time for praising right now...
As Charles said before, two more beasts remain.
"Yeah.."
With the electricity stopping, one of the remaining creatures finally made its presence known. A red thorny tendril made of blood had come firing down from the ceiling, immediately wrapping itself around Hans! It restrained him from his upper body all the way down to his legs. He was still able to keep a firm grip on his sword, but could barely move. Fortunately, his defense creation was still protecting him from damage, so he did not worry much about that. Hans then looked up to see one of those thorny beast-like creatures hanging onto the ceiling. It then jumped down in front of the dark mage while its partner dropped down behind him!
They thought that they had Hans trapped...but this is where the dark mage exactly wanted them to be. Hans' dark aura then flared up as he activated his Vincula spell. Hans then fired two chains of darkness from his aura, one wrapping around one of the beast's legs while the other did the same to the other beast! The beasts grunted as they felt their speed being drained. The dark mage's grimoire flipped one more page and from it, Hans summoned a dark sword golem, Hunter's Blade. The sword manifested in front of Hans, floating there as the beast in front attempted to charge at Hans as it conjured up floating spikes of blood. "Silence it." Hans commanded his sword-like golem, and with that, the golem shifted itself so it can be blade first and immediately went flying at the incoming beast!
Before the beast could attack, the golem, impaled it, causing it to grunt in pain and stop in its tracks. The pain was enough to make the beast drop its restraint spell on Hans as well as its attack creation spell. The dark mage with his body now free did not attack, but instead placed his sword back into its sheath and slid his hands into his pockets. He watched as his sword golem went in for a second attack by spinning around the beast, slicing all of its limbs off before going for one crescent slice to the neck, chopping the thorny beast's head off!
Once that beast was slain, the sword-like golem went back to floating by Hans' side. The dark mage gave it a nod despite it not being truly sentient but then he heard one more growl coming from behind. He did not forget about the remaining mana beast, but instead of attacking or sending his golem, Hans glanced over at Charles. "You can have the last one." Hans said calmly just as the beast started to charge aggressively at the dark mage...

Using their grimoire, the user coats themselves and/or others with a dark mist-like substance that does not obscure their vision. Like its predecessor, the dark "mist" serves as moderate protection towards damage and nothing else. When more than one of these are summoned, its durability buff will lower by one rank. (User can summon an additional one per 30 Control they have.)
Name of Spell: Dark Magic: Hunter's Might Sustained Elemental Type: Dark Rank & Spell Type: Senior - Physical Reinforcement/Defense Creation Range & Speed: 70 meters - 40 m/s Mana Cost: 30 (Initial) - 15 (Sustain) Stats Effected: Strength, (+10 Durability from Dark Element) Applicable Perks: Quick Shot, Skilled Sniper, Self Repairing Description: Through their grimoire, the user surrounds themselves in a dark aura that vaguely resembles a hunter's cloak with a hood, reaching down to their waist. With this spell active, the user's strength is increased to Senior levels, allowing them to do things such as break major bones, and easily break through non-magical structures. There is also a thin dark aura around the user's body for defensive purposes. When more than one of these spells are summoned, its Strength buff will decrease by one rank. (User can summon an additional piece per 50 Control they have.)
Name of Spell: Dark Magic: Vincula Elemental Type: Dark Rank & Spell Type: Senior - Restraining Range & Speed: 70 meters - 40 m/s Mana Cost: 30 (Initial) - 15 (Sustain) Stats Effected: -10 m/s, (+10 Durability from Dark element) Applicable Perks: Quick Shot, Skilled Sniper Description: With a dark aura surrounding their body, the user fires off chains of darkness from said aura, aiming to tightly wrap them around one of the target’s legs. Once attached, the chains lower the target’s speed so long as they remain bound to them as well as halving their allotted per post. (Can conjure an additional set of chains for an additional target(s) if they have the required control, but will decrease the spell’s rank in power per people struck by this if the user does not have the required twenty control.)

With their grimoire, the user summons a dark sword golem(s) that resembles a hunter blade. Being a balanced type, this golem has no specific specialties, but can be used for various purposes like attacking with its blade or ridden on as a mode of transportation (speed remaining at 14 m/s, and can hold up to two people). Unlike most other golems of its type, it only stands up to 2 meters, but that does not make it any less intimidating. If not careful, it can harm allies with its sharp blades. (Can summon an additional golem per 30 Control (Ease of Creation), maxing at three.)

Charles was successful with his attack and fortunately for him. Neither Hans nor the girl was harmed by his attack. The dark mage already had a defense spell up to defend himself and the girl was protected by his own defensive spell. With the Scorpions gone the two mages only had to worry about the two remaining enemies. It was a sign of improvement on his part and he was happy to admit that both Hans himself had improved over the course of the last months. Just like the silver mage, the dark mage didn't wish for something like Kikka to happen again. He was determined to do so, after going through literal hell months ago. It was a memory that was never going to abandon his brain for better or worse. Successfully saving and protecting the girl from any danger was a sign of improvement. It didn't take long for the two remaining enemies to show up. [break][break] The thorny beast had wrapped its tendril around Hans, restraining his entire upper body. Judging by the tendril, the beasts used the blood element. Charles was about to jump to free the dark mage, but he noticed that his facial expression was relatively calm and he could tell that he had something planned. The silver mage decided to remain where he was and enjoy the show. He was curious as to what Hans had planned and how to deal with the two beasts surrounding him. The Black Bull witnessed the dark mage summon a dark golem that wielded a sword to help him out. Before the first mana beast had a chance to attack, it was already impaled by his golem. By now he would've deduced that Hans remained that way on purpose, he wanted to see himself vulnerable and attack the beasts when they least expected it. Good thinking on his part, it was hard for him to understand at first, but then came to understand his tactic. His idea proved to be effective as the beast was impaled by his golem. Hans was pretty much a veteran in terms of combat at this point, his thought of him being able to have the power of a Magic Knight Vice-Captain or maybe even a Captain was an accurate way to gauge his magical power. [break][break] "Good grief... Sure, I'll defeat the last one and call it a day." Charles sighed after feeling the presence of the last remaining mana beast. Either way, he was going to get rid of it and call it a day. As his grimoire floated next to him, the silver mage turned to look at the remaining Thorn Death Beast, it looked much tougher than the previous one. The beast extended its tendrils towards him, in an attempt to grab his lower body, a similar strategy used by the previous one. He was able to feel the tendrils moving below his line of sight thanks to Ki. "Barrage." He declared, as silver spikes rose up from the ground that was directed towards the mana beast. The attack was successful, as the mana beast was stabbed from the multiple spikes from his spell. The Thorn Death Beast however was still alive, injured, but it still posed a threat to them. "They're stronger than I expected..." After his initial attack didn't kill it, the mana beast attempted to lunge at Charles in an attempt to trap him. The silver mage reacted to it, sliding below the beast, dodging its attack, and extending its arm. As sparks of electricity came from his hand, silver shards flew towards the beast stabbing and electrocuting it. Eventually, the beast fell to the floor, with no signs of life remaining. The last enemy had been defeated. "Last one dead." Their mission was finally over and the Black Bull could finally take a breath from their mission. Charles looked over at Hans before looking at the girl. "Seems like we are done here. I'll take the girl to where she lives, so I'll head out for now. It was good seeing you again Hans, I'll be expecting that invite anytime soon." He said as walked up to the little girl and extended his hand to her, smiling at her as she was now safe. It was unusual for him to show such kindness, but he believed it the least he could do. The silver mage rose his hand and waved at Hans, leaving the circus alongside the girl to take her to her parents. [break][break] [Exit Thread] [break]

The spikes are 2 meters thick and 5 meters tall. Additonally, Charles can create more silver barrages per 30 control following the ammo rules

Each shard is roughly 10 cm in size. Additionally, Charles can create more barrages of shards per 30 control following the ammo rules.

As expected, Charles didn't seem particularly thrilled about having to deal with the last beast which amused the dark mage a little. Hans could've taken care of it, but he wanted to see a little more of what the silver mage can do. Those scorpions and lizards were far too easy. The thorny blood beast would at least give Charles a bit of trouble.
The dark mage nodded at Charles before he started to walk his way to the little girl. Hans may not be directly looking at the fight, but he can feel it with his ki. Hans sensed that the beast was trying to restrain Charles, but with his quick thinking, the silver mage conjured up a spell that impaled the creature with multiple spikes. Hans smirked a bit as he sensed this happen, before shifting his expression into a small smile as he approached the girl. "You doing alright?" Hans asked the little girl calmly before crouching down to be on her level. The dark mage use to not be great with children, but he was able to improve himself on this...but he would probably still need some work on actually taking care of one, which he, fortunately, does not have to deal with...for now.
The little girl nodded before turning her attention back to Charles. She seems to be still in a bit of awe over how the silver mage's magic works. Hans cannot blame her as he looked over to admire the usage of his spells a bit. He still finds it interesting how Charles' silver magic is able to conduct electricity, making his magic feel very unique. His elements worked in union instead of separately like other dual elementals. This reminded Hans of the various magics that exist and how they truly differ from one another, even those that share the same element.
With one last shock, the final beast was slain which Hans took notice of before Charles declared it. "He's really strong isn't he?" Hans asked the little girl, causing her to nod once more but this time with a bit more enthusiasm. The dark mage then stood up and gave Hans another nod. Indeed it was a job well done. They both were able to execute this perfectly without any casualties. The little girl seemed more than happy to have Charles tag along with her which warmed the dark mage's heart a little. "It was good seeing you too, Charles. Don't worry, we won't forget." Hans added, referring to himself and his fiancee.
With a wave, the two went their separate ways. It was nice for Hans to see one of his old friends again, and it was interesting to see how strong he has gotten since they last met. There was no doubt in the dark mage that Charles would make an excellent Vice Captain....and perhaps even a Captain one day.
