❝My light [break]is brighter [break]than the sun!❞
[attr="class","echotemp] The setting was none other than the town of Hapshass, it was a rather gloomy and dark evening. The scenario was that Echo had begun taking up black market contracts yet again. This time he used his family’s numerous resources and contacts to find people who need this ‘work’ done. Most of the jobs he had gotten were nothing to heavy, just a robbery here and a bit of ‘enforcement’ there. But he had gotten a job here in Hapshass to take out some business executive who was enjoying a vacation with his wife. It was here where the man would be the most vulnerable, so it was here Echo would strike. Normally Echo would not kill normal citizens if he himself did not have personal beef with them, however it turned out that this business exec was getting a lot of money under the table and also through the black market. [break][break] Echo made his approach to the target’s location as they were currently staying at a inn, not far off from the port of the town. As Echo walked up the sky became darker and darker making an even better cover for his approach. Once he got to the side of the building he would begin to start a spell, with a white ball of light emerging from his grimoire. The ball of light then surrounded Echo like a subtle but somewhat bright night light. Echo would then begin to run up the wall of the building up to the third floor, where he would then breaking the room window as he walked upon its fragile glass. This was in fact the room of the inn where Echo’s target was staying. He was once again dressed in his large black cloak with the hood up, black pants, and black combat boots. He also wore his white mask with the small purple lightning bolt running thru the left eye. [break][break] As Echo broke through the window glass would begin to fly everywhere and the screams of a woman could be heard. As Echo came through the windowing landing on his feet above the tiny shards of glass, he looked around the room before seeing the man and saying “Sir if you come with me the woman doesn’t have to get hurt. So do you care about her enough to come with me willing? Or are you gonna make this shit hard?”

Jorah would be in Hapshass to recover a kid from an abusive situation, a wealthy man by the name of Thomas Wallaby was out on vacation away from the noble region, while that may not be a significant reason to be here, the child that Thomas now “looked over” was. Hapshass was not much better than if Thomas happened to make it out to the Forsaken region, but now in the common region...he could be chased out of town or worse yet...outright killed for being caught here, but as he took an oath to protect the children of Clover from the damned hands of the fucking evil people. Of course the kid he sent off with this woman...who was not evil at the beginning, had now turned to a life of abuse and torment...the kid was the unfortunate soul that was having to pay the price as the woman was now married to Thomas Wallaby. The kid was constantly made to do backdoor deals in the shadows and in the black market for his new stepfather. However, it was all about biding his time as he made a letter to send back to Jorah in a desperate attempt to flee his current situation before anything bad happened to him.
Walking into the Inn he knew that Thomas had already sent the kid out to get him and his mother some wine and when Jorah intercepted, he told the boy his room number and gave him a key before moving towards Thomas’s room. As he arrived though, the hallway was unusually quiet...as if the room was the only one rented for the evening and the shattering of glass was actually very prominent and the humble orphanage owner knew that if HE had heard it...others did too. He did not even knock now as there was a female scream and he kicked the door open and his grimoire was already out and levitating over his left hand. ”Alright, shut the fuck up and nobody move!” He said as he scanned the room quickly for whomever decided to fuck up his whole plan all the while trying to find Thomas and the bitch wife that had decided her adopted son was collateral. Hearing the ending of the intruder’s little threat was the absolute worst crime though in all of this. He did not even finish the job already and was hanging around using a threat to make Thomas come with him. ”Well that’s new.” Jorah said as his grimoire glowed with anticipation of what was about to happen.

[attr="class","echotemp] As Echo had come into the room, another would follow suit soon after. Once the new individual appeared on the scene and his grimoire began to glow Echo had expected trouble would soon be coming his way. “Hey old timer, what do you think you are doing?” His words pointed towards the man who had just come in after him. The man was clearly a little older, with him even sporting grey hair. Echo didn’t like the vibe he was getting and so he decided to hurry and get his hands on the steering wheel of the situation. [break][break] Too much time had passed without Echo getting an answer from the male and so he would begin to consider his options here. He could continue to try and find out who the man is but he doubted that would get him far. His next option was to consider the job botched and just kill everyone here and now, however that was the option he did not wish to go to. So he would have to try his hand to make a new possible option for himself. He would quickly reach for not done but both of his swords and threw them almost like a harpoon to snag both his target and the wife to the walls behind them. [break][break] The woman would scream loudly once again probably alerting even more people to what was going on. It was at this point when Echo would look to the older man once again before saying “I want an answer or things will get ugly… Who are you and why are you here?” Before the man could even get a chance to answer the question Echo would speak once again saying “Light’s Shimmering Dream” which would make his body begin to glow a bright white light. This white light was a sign that Echo had activated an illusion spell that would interfere with the mana sensing of everyone nearby, while also creating 6 clones of Echo all around the room in which they stood. [break][break] Echo would then deepen his voice before he would talk again saying “I think we should all have a chat.” All Echoes now speaking in unison, making the vibe less than comfortable.

”The fact that I told everyone here to be quiet and yet you still talk is infuriating, if I was here for you...I would have killed you by now boy.” When the woman screamed and then this mystery assailant pinned them to the wall with blades. Jorah just sighed and held his hands up, dropping a piece of acorn down onto the ground, but needless to say...the job was now done. It did not matter who did the job at the end of the day since it was his own issues that brought him there. Jorah saw the loud assassin make copies of himself using a bright light ”I think if you would be less colorful and attention grabbing I would give you that benefit of a chat, but since I am not Settling Roots here and you just took care of my problem for me, then I do not see a need to hang around a murder scene that will most likely be alerted to the authorities any moment. If you’ll excuse me.” Jorah said as he simply turned away from the clones, of which he could now see who the real one was as his vines and roots climbed the ground since he dropped the acorn. He had no reason to stick around any further, especially since he was just in the doorway of the room.
Turning down the hallway he would not linger, the mana being given off at that moment did not match his either, and the noise was quite the shock as people began to open their doors Jorah feigned a sorrowful face. ”My god there is a madman in that room! He killed that man and his wife as I was attempting to deliver a message. Oh god...that light, that brilliant...brilliant light.” Jorah then helped himself into the next man’s room as the man looked frightened. ”It’s best if we escape out of the window, in a hurry. I am sure he is after all nobles...save yourself.” Jorah made his departure through another window, on the far side of the building and where the loud assassin was. Once he was down and onto the street he stuck to the shadows of the alley. Perhaps if that man was a little more quiet...or if he managed to escape the little debacle that was caused...Jorah would find him again, but downright trying to taunt him into talking...that was a laugh.

[attr="class","echotemp] Things within the small inn room seemed like they were going to continue to escalate. The man would speak saying how if he was there for Echo that he would already be dead, laughable regardless of how true or untrue it was. He also made it clear how he was upset because he told everyone to shut up and yet Echo was still talking. Echo would reply to this by saying “I never did make any friends because I followed instructions well, only way I do that is if the job pays well….” As Echo looked at the ‘old man’ he would stare at his face a bit noticing a strange familiarity about him. [break][break] After a bit of a drawn out speech Jorah would claim he no longer had a need to be here and so he would begin his exit. He seemed very unphased by Echo’s clone intimidation tactic, but the red head was not surprised. As the older man left the room Echo could hear him in the hallway going on to whoever had come into the hall about some madman killing people. Echo knew the man must have been trying to throw some pressure on him so that he could make his own escape Scott free, however Echo was not going for any of that. [break][break] Echo would scoff before he would look over to the woman pinned to the wall before pulling his blade from the wall and setting her free. As he towered above her he would look down and say to her “You are not my target and I don’t kill women without need or want…” After he said this she would look at him with a blank stare as he walked over towards her husband who was still pined to the wall. Echo would take the blade currently in his hand and stab it straight through the man and into the wall, as he still hung suspended by the other sword. Once the man was dead he would begin to use his sensory abilities to try and track the man’s movements as he tried to escape. [break][break] A ball of light would appear from Echo’s grimoire before it would break down and reform into a map made out of hard light particles. Echo could use this map to clearly see who was who, where they were, and where they were headed. He found the dot that represented the man he had just met and he could see the individual was making his way out of the building, and so he decided to pursue him. [break][break] Echo would jump back out the window he had entered using his speed to run back down the wall and down to the street. Echo would then begin to run around to the other side of the building to where the man would have made his exit. Within only mere seconds of running time due to his speed enhancement spell Echo was indeed able to intercept the man down on the ground outside the building. Of course now during this meeting Echo and the man were alone with no clones, assassination targets, or bystanders. Echo would look to the old man and say “If you do that again we will have a problem that you can’t fix so I suggest you learn some manners…. I figured the old nobles like you were a bit more keen on using manners and being respectful?”

The masked individual caught up with Jorah rather quickly and it was no surprise to him that he did so...after all it was not like the Spell Thief was trying to avoid him. So when he stood in front of Jorah and spoke more at, than to Jorah...it caused the “noble” to blink in confusion before looking around for a moment. ”Well seeing as nobody else is around here, my assumption is that you are speaking to me. In any case “young” man or whatever age, gender, or sexual affiliation you are...manners and respect you say? I believe it is YOU who needs to take your own advice here, I am not your friend, I am not your target, I don’t even consider you a blip on my radar. Real killers do their deeds with their face showing, so that way the “target” of our ire knows who killed them as the blade is plunged into their skin.” He started in on him, he was angry that this little shit decided to track him down just to tell him he needed to have respect and manners. ”We happened to arrive to do the same thing, you were already there, and it matters not who kills the person I was there to kill myself...but you did so with such noise...that is the mark of an amateur...or someone with a deathwish. I am NO noble and I give respect and manners to those that EARN it. So, as they say in that book about the holy one god or whatever they call it...Do unto others. Did you at least kill the child abusing bitch while you were at it?” Jorah asked as he grabbed a cigarette from his jacket pocket, striking a match and lighting the tobacco as he waited for this person to continue speaking or whatever he decided to do. There was no hint of malice in his voice as he talked, not even a hint as if he was going to attack. The man was relaxed.

[attr="class","echotemp] After Echo had told the man they would have permanent problems that couldn’t be fixed if he didn’t learn manners, the man would reply very sternly saying that he gave respect to those who deserved it. The man would say that they were there to do the same thing, nothing more and nothing less. Echo for whatever reason or another believed im however he did not wish to just leave the situation at that as it seemed too simple. Before Echo could say anything else to the man he would hear the older gentleman ask if he had killed the woman too or just the man. Echo would laugh from behind his mask before saying “Oh I see they must have been child trafficking or something huh? Well my hit on them was completely unrelated as it was for a gambling debt that the husband owed, so no I only killed her and passed the debt onto her… but im sure my employer won’t be mad if you went back and ended her.” [break][break] Echo would then weigh his options in the current situation and he would believe revealing his identity wouldn’t put him in any danger, at least not right here with this man seeing as they had come to complete the same job. Echo would pull down his hood to reveal his full head of red hair, then he would proceed to take off his mask revealing his face to the man. Echo would then approach the man with one hand in the hand with the other extended for a shake. “I apologize but maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Perhaps we could get a bit of a ways from here and we could talk? Perhaps over a drink?”

Of course the mysterious stranger caught up to him, it was not like he took the scenic route to get away from anyone, this was a game to him. If he wanted to kill this man, he would have done so. The loud, obvious “I am a bad guy” cliche was rather tiresome Talking about his “hit” as if Jorah cared...it was better to be in the dark when it came to these things as deniability was often a rogue’s best friend. When he stated the obvious that he was not there to kill the woman and she was free to go as she wished, Jorah knew that the authorities were now involved and his stay in this place would be short lived. There would be no ending to her life on this trip, so this was a complete loss for him...He was growing more impatient by the second and an obvious twitch was developing in his left hand until he gripped it with his right for momentary reprieve and spoke no words but did draw in a breath before exhaling slow and evenly.
When Echo pulled his hood down and revealed his hair Jorah was already adding to his mental notes to ensure that he committed this to memory just in case any...opportunities arose. Then when the mask came off, Jorah fully memorized the build of this particularly loud hitman, and when his hand was outstretched Echo said his next words carefully and invited Jorah to have a drink and perhaps restart this little meeting of theirs. Jorah did not extend his hand out yet, but he kept eye contact with the man. ”You do not get far in this business by trust and good faith, so at this time I am not going to be shaking your hand because I do not trust that you do not have a hidden agenda...but since this whole...thing.” He said as he motioned back towards the hotel. ”Has gone tits up, it is best we move to a neutral ground and have this discussion. You know my face and I know yours, I could be masking myself with an illusion, as could you, but I know a spot outside of town where the tavern owner does not trouble with who his patrons are. It is called the Silky Ogre...tell the barkeep you want the Troll’s Delight and he will tell you where to sit and I will be there in due time.” Jorah said, he did not skip a beat as he spoke with a hushed authority and waited for the hitman to either make his move or speak...either way something was bound to happen.

❝My light [break]is brighter [break]than the sun!❞
[attr="class","echotemp] Once Echo removed his mask and hood and tried to shake the other man’s hand, he would watch the man closely. He saw how the man was intently looking at him as he removed each piece of his disguise. Echo would think to himself *Ahh so he is trying to retain memory of how I look? If only Thalia was here to put up a transformation… its ok I guess.* After a few moments the man would say how he had no intent of shaking Echo’s hand to which the younger male would scoff but after hearing the man’s reasoning he respected it and would say “Yeah, I can agree with that. Also apologies for if you find my tactics to be a bit much but im not looking to be subtle about anything I do… im looking to gain someone’s attention.” [break][break] His speech would end for a brief moment as he took a pause, he would however come within a few seconds saying “But sure we can go talk at this bar you talking about or whatever. I’ll probably get there before you so I guess I’ll just see you when you get there.” With those words being said a ball of light would form, coming from out of Echo’s grimoire. The ball would float over to the red head before it would envelop his body, turning itself into an aura of light. Now covered with his aura of light he would throw up a peace sign towards the older gentleman before saying “See you there.” And running off into the night. [break][break] Echo knew not what this man had planned for him when they arrived at this bar, but he did know that if he got there first he would have the upper hand in whatever scenario was to come. It would only take him a matter of minutes to get to his destination, and once he was there he would go inside and head straight to the barkeep.

Jorah did memorize the features of this particular rogue, because if there was anything that was a constant in the world they lived in. It was that there was always the need for a patsy, a scapegoat, plausible deniability. So when Echo took his hand back and spoke Jorah took notice of his words…trying to grab someone's attention. These kinds of individuals always aim to make a big splash when what you need is to create enough disturbances to where the big splash creates a chain reaction. The agreement to meet him at the bar was rather quick and abrupt so when he made the claim of getting there first Jorah just chuckled to himself…this was no race…and the bar was familiar territory…if he wanted to he could see the loudmouth silenced.
But that was not his aim.
”Of course a peacock was a peacock in all aspects, not just in practice. Well…no matter, a contact is still a contact and I will ensure that he does not get in the way of my plans next time and it will be a win for me.” He said as he walked towards the bar, arriving some ten minutes later, walking into the room as it got quiet. Apparently there were more than a few eyes on him as he made his way back for the barkeeper and where Echo was sitting. ” Jethro, I will have a Rumble Rye whiskey on the rocks.” He said as he ordered a drink and casually sat down and yawned. He had not acknowledged Echo being there just yet and was waiting on his drink, reaching for a pack of cigarettes and lighting up and taking a slow drag on the stick of tobacco without much of a care at the current time.

[attr="class","echotemp] Echo stood at the bar patiently waiting for his rogue associate simply silent. He had no idea what the man was planning or what could take place in this bar, however he knew getting there before who he was meeting was a vital key to staying safe and vigilant. It was only a few minutes after he had gotten to the spot and approached the bartender, did Jorah walk in. Upon his entrance he would walk over to the bar and stand next to Echo as he ordered a drink. The older man never once acknowledged the younger rogue’s presence,, which would cause Echo a bit of confusion. [break][break] Echo would simply let out a sigh as he thought to himself *Every time I meet a rogue its the same thing… A bunch of secrets, paranoia, and fear of being caught. Why even join in on this life if you walk around playing all these secret agent games?* However he would keep his comments to himself, he instead would simply speak to the man saying “Yo! You just gonna act like im not right here?” Echo most likely did something the man didn’t want but he didn’t really care as the rules he played by were clearly different than that of others in his line of work. [break][break] After Echo had spoken to Joran he would simply yell to the bartender while the man made Jorah’s drink and said “I’ll take 3 shots of the strongest liquor you got…” In truth Echo wasn’t really a drinker, however recent events have had him stressed beyond imagination. The bartender would swiftly make the drinks and rush them back over to the duo, who was clearly together after hearing Echo’s comments. The red head would pick up the first shot knocking it back without hesitation, as he looked directly in Jorah’s eyes. He would smile after finishing the first drink before saying “So what made you invite me here? Im sure you didn’t wanna come here just for a drink old man.” [break][break]

When his drink was brought to him he gave a satisfied sigh as Echo could not fucking wait to open his mouth and talk at Jorah, rather than towards. Exclaiming that Jorah was ignoring him, which only earned him a cold gaze from the older rogue. He took a drink then set the glass down on the bar before knocking twice, as if it was some sort of code…in reality all he did was order another round and motioned to Echo. “You honestly need to learn a thing or two Echo…I was not ignoring you, no I was simply coming up to get a drink. Why in the actual fuck would I possibly have a reason, other than your flamboyant and loud attitude, would I have to ignore you?” He thanked the bartender as he was brought a fresh glass of the amber liquid. To which Echo loudly yelled to the bartender, who had just turned his back and looked in their direction. To which Jorah just shook his head and watched as the bartender made him the shots anyway and placed them before Echo. who drank the first shot like an inexperienced knucklehead that lived for the thrill instead of the experience.
His question was to see what Jorah had intended for him now that they were at the bar and Jorah honestly wanted to knock the kid out cold, but for once he did not do so as he sipped his whiskey. “You…honestly have no fucking clue about this world do you? Why are you a rogue? Because to me you just look like some schmuck that has it in his head that being a killer for hire is just a fun pastime like baseball or broom racing. Your way of killing is sending a message, but the message only creates a bottleneck for people in the same profession. What I am trying to say is that you are creating a scene in which the only people that will profit will be the Magic Knights through the deaths of more of us, or the capture of us. Neither of which I will be attending to. So you could say that I brought you here to this bar as a friendly reminder of such. Either learn to control yourself, or you will be brought to heel…soon enough.” He said as he finished the first glass of whiskey. Pulling over the second glass for himself, showing that he did not yet have respect for the young rogue. “Since you have thoroughly messed up my plans though and the place where I was staying at is now probably infested with noble knights looking for the killer…this place will soon be raided as well. I still have a target to remove, that woman who screamed. Go and take care of her…without causing a fucking scene…and I will consider our professional relationship…which we seem to have both been clued in on now. To become like water under the bridge.” That was when he took another drink of the whiskey before placing the drink down once more. “Of course…this is only a proposition, you could decline of course, and that will be the end of the matter. Your choice Echo.” Jorah finished as he finished the second glass as well. The entire time, the older man seemed calm and collected, he was not bothered in the slightest. In his own head he remembered the tale of a peacock who was loud and wore resplendent color…eventually when the hunters came and the only escape was through the mud, the peacock chose to remain unchanged…and was killed, stuffed, and its pretty little feathers were given as gifts…rogues were too…like peacocks and if routines remained unchanged…well they too would end up like the peacock in the tale. There was a reason why Jorah spoke so openly in the bar without a single glance towards the patrons…confidence, or perhaps they were under his heel?

[attr="class","echotemp] After Echo questioned the man about ignoring him, he would soon give a response one Echo wasn’t too keen with. The man seemed pretty stern with his speech and used vulgar language. He kept it real with Echo and did not sugar coat anything. He told the red head that he didn’t ignore him and that he was simply ordering his drink. This would cause Echo to scoff before saying “Yeah whatever. I might be loud but its cause I don’t give a damn…” his words would trail off. He would then take the second shot, following by letting out a mumbled “Shit”. The liquor was clearly much too strong for the teen, and to make it worse he did not drink to begin with. [break][break] Soon after the man would offer Echo a deal, a not so good deal but a deal all the same. Jorah would ask for Echo to go and take out the woman in a discreet manner and if he did so, they would be squared. Echo thought of this as a chance to maybe seek for more… “Lets sweeten it a little bit. Those terms are pretty stiff don’t you think? Maybe lets say I go end her and because I feel like me and a guy like you will see each other in the future… We can just say you owe me a small favor.” [break][break] Echo would take a pause in his speech as he pulled out his grimoire to begin casting a spell. The magical book would begin to dimly shine as the mana within would begin to flutter. “I promise im a simple man I won’t ask for much. I just know the path im walking I’ll need some type of allies. But the answer is yes I will do it.” [break][break]

He did not give a damn? Inexperience and a fucking naive mind…this will get even the most obnoxious man put into a shallow grave. Jorah just sighed as he took another shot and then cursed, or perhaps he cursed before…the details of THIS little matter were…insignificant. That however was apparently the beginning to the matter at hand when he “offered” a moment earlier…it was mostly just a joke because he never thought that this young rogue even had a chance at doing things his way, but then he was counter offered as if this was some sort of negotiation. His favor was that he needed allies, as if this was some sort of crusade he was on…The path he walked led to an unpeaceful life…like walking along a badly patched cobblestone road. It was like he was desperate for friends, which Jorah understood a solitary lifestyle, but he also understood how to preserve his own jobs and to be a youth again with the prospect of looking for the top…this kid would make a good member of a freign mafia, but in Clover his still a minnow in a pond full of catfish.
”Echo…I do not think you quite get it.” He took another drink slowly before setting the glass down. I see you have the gumption to just go into a room full of people to kill and make a damn statement, but that is not what I am saying, nor was it what I was offering. This woman being not a part of the other mouth breathers of this world will allow me to further shape it to what it needs to be to be peaceful. I will not owe you a favor if you do this because either way it will be done with or without you, but I will be amicable in the future and offer aid in the future if I can. This is not a negotiation.”[/color] Jorah spoke without a hint of annoyance, humor, or even disgust. He just drank slowly and spoke as if what he said was the absolute truth and nothing was going to change it.

[attr="class","echotemp] After Echo would attempt his hand at a counter offer, the older rogue would shut him down pretty much instantly. However while the older rogue did not give in to the conditions of Echo’s counter he would say that he would try to help in the future if he could. While this was no strong sign of being allied or anything of the sort, Echo knew that this at the very least was a start and that maybe if he could prove himself what he was already seeking would soon come. Echo would scoff after he listened to the man’s very plain and dry words, and his reply would simply stay the same. [break][break] “Yeah whatever, im still gonna go kill her. I just want to prove a point that I don’t need to be loud and bold. I can be just as sneaky as the next rogue. So Like I said you sit back and watch and I will handle it. Just tell me how you want it done and it shall be done.” Echo for once wasn’t interested in completing a job for money or renown. Instead he simply wanted to prove a point that he was just as capable as any other rogue. [break][break] The red head would then wait for further instruction from Jorah before he would move to go and do anything else.
