In his attempt to help as many people as possible, Thaddeus would eventually find himself within the port town of Hapshass, a town known for having the best healers and apothecaries within the Clover Kingdom. The fact that this was his first time having arrived within this town was admittedly a little surprising, considering the fact that it had been a major trade hub. The fact that he was here now though was good enough for him though, so he hadn't really decided to pay it any mind. Of course now that he had been here, he was going to need to try and find some way to assist the people. Some way in which he could try and spread the word of the good graces of the Church of Clover. The only real question that he was having here was how exactly he was going to go about such a task.
"B-bakery! W-we are opening up a n-new bakery..! Please come in! I mean, uh, p-please take this paper!"
Having heard those words, the Spring Deacon would take a moment to survey his surroundings in hopes of locating the source of these words. It wouldn't take too long before the Spring Deacon's eyes would land upon a young girl of no more than fourteen. The young girl had pale skin, soft pink hair, and had been wearing a maids dress. Honestly, she had seemed a tad too young in Thaddeus' mind to be working for this bakery that she had been announcing, so Thaddeus had chalked it up to the fact that she must have had a relative that ran the place. That or she was just helping a friend out. Either way, it was a decent business strategy to have one such as herself spreading the word of the opening location. If only she had been better at public speaking.
It had been quite obvious to the Spring Deacon that if he was intending on helping anyone today, that this was going to be a good place to start. It is for this reason that Thaddeus would approach the anxious teen and would offer her a supportive smile. "Hey there, young one. Is everything alright? You seem quite anxious... Tell me about this bakery of yours. Maybe I can help spread the word for you." As Thaddeus had begun to speak with the pink haired teen about the flyers that she had been holding, an older woman that had to have been her mother would step out from one of the many doors that had aligned with the wall behind them. "Is this guy bothering you, hun?" Unsurprisingly, the older woman hadn't felt too comfortable with the fact that some strange man had been speaking with her daughter, even if it had been for the sake of helping spread the word of the business. Most people had just taken a flyer and continued on their way or simply ignored people that had been trying to spread out flyers. The fact that this man had done something different had left her a smidge worried. Having stepped out of the building was a simply precaution and nothing more.
"Ah, apologies ma'am. I was just hoping to learn more about this bakery of yours." With this, the teen would begin to nod her head several times while shoving the stack of papers out to the Spring Deacon. "Y-yes! P-please take these!" It was clear that the teen hadn't wanted to do this any longer and would have been quite fine with passing the job along. This in and of itself would cause the mother to softly sigh before taking a good look at the young Wilhelm. "I.. suppose that we could use the extra help to spread the word. The only issue is that I don't think one person is enough for the task. Don't you have anyone else that would be willing to help?" This mother had been quite the stubborn woman, and she honestly wasn't very personable, but Thaddeus had wanted to help nonetheless. "I..."

Home was where your heart lied, which for most was a simple answer. Parents, family, school, clergies, even taverns! But Toko was one whose heart wandered about like the tune on a breeze, so it wasn't any surprise he considered wherever he stepped home...It just so happened in that moment while prepping for the exams, he found himself taking a stroll through his hometown, eyes scanning around and ears perked up for interesting bits and pieces of info. Some had people watching as a hobby, Toko was a people person who listened, wanting to hear the gossip for his latest jokes and jibes. Being up to date on the latest and greatest helped you talk circles around others, and if it happened to be hectic chaos in the marketplace, well that just meant more sources.
"Did you hear the animals are getting riled up again?"
"The cap'ns bein' extra rough with the missus on his back ugh!"
"Take two leaves and mix with warm water to cure your throat"
"B-bakery!"
Now compiling all this info, and walking around like he was, was exhausting work! So it wasn't any surprise that his ears caught the light voice in the crowd and had him slipping his body around others to make his way through, eventually coming up on the little advert with what looked like a man of the cloth. Not much of a churchgoer, but even he could see a few being suspicious of him chatting. But those worries evaporated at the girls mother tearing him into like swiss cheese, on a fierce rampage til her daughter shoved the papers into the man's hands and backed off. Huh, someone not wanting to deal with the pressures of family business? Well now he couldn't ignore them any longer, it wasn't any surprise his feet were already marching up to the talking pair.
"-am so very lucky to have my handsome friend lend me a hand with these fliers and earn a baked good or two in return" Toko interrupted, throwing an arm around the man's shoulders and looking over the papers, grinning good natured the entire time. Blue eyes finally glanced up at the pair, vaguely noticing his new friend's reaction and focusing on the momentary shock of the baker.
"And you are-"
"Toko Mcarro, pleasure and honor makin' your acquaintance miss, heard ya could use help and trust me there ain't no one better in city at drawin' a crowd or spreading the word than I, guaranteed!"
The bold declaration was followed by a loud laugh, leaving the woman to shake her head and shrug in slight exsperation, figuring she could focus on her daughter and business if she left it in the pairs' hands. Finally turning to face his soon-to-be partner in business, the dirty blonde local held a hand out to either accept a handshake or bundle of fliers from him.
"So whaddya say partner, wanna help em make some dough together?"

Upon feeling an arm being wrapped around his shoulders, Thaddeus would slightly wince and cast a gaze in the direction of yet another voice. One that had come from an individual quite a bit taller than him that seemed to wish to get involved in the matter at hand. Having someone to assist him in these matters hadn't been something for the Spring Deacon to worry about but the fact that this stranger had been acting so comfortable with him... Honestly, the young Wilhelm wasn't quite sure how to respond to it. Normally he was the one that was outgoing in a sense and as such, he had been at a bit of a disadvantage here. Figuring that it wasn't worth all the worrying though, Thaddeus would simply extend a hand out to the charismatic human and would shake his hand. "Uh... Right. Here you are, Toko. Let's... get on this. For the good of the Church and the people." Thaddeus would then go on to split the stack of flyers in half before handing half of them to the dirty blond haired human.
Seeing that things were more or less going to be taken care of on this end, the mother and daughter would turn about and begin to head inside of the currently still closed bakery. "Right, well be sure to come back once you guys have finished up everything that you need to be doing. I'll pay you when you manage to come back. Feel free to spread the word in other ways as well. Use whatever means this takes, y'hear?" Even now, with the pair having agreed to assist this woman, she had chosen to remain un-personable. It was a little tiring to deal with but this was simply how some people were wired.
Utilizing every ounce of willpower to prevent himself from shaking his head in dismay at this woman's personality, Thaddeus would offer Toko a soft, yet sincere, smile. "I'm Thaddeus, by the way. Thaddeus Wilhelm. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Toko might recognize the Wilhelm name as one of the High Nobility families of the Capital or they might not. Either way, Thaddeus had been glad to introduce himself to someone new. "So how are you hoping to go about this? We can hang up the flyers with little to no issue, I'm sure. Do you have any other ideas for grabbing the peoples attention though?"

Toko had an internal cheer at the man mentioning doing it for the Lord, whoever said he was uncultured was probably still right, but least he got one thing right. He gave a two fingered salute and wink to the man before turning with exaggerated movements to give his new temporary boss his full attention, giving one firm nod at her words...Unlike his pious companion, who showed respectable patience and restraint, Toko had no such things to inhibit.
"Quite a piece of work that one, bout as soft and warm as a burnt croissant"
His comment was followed with a low whistle and jerk of his thumb in her direction, before letting out a second whistle at the name. A Williams handing out fliers for a new bakery? What kind of story was behind that one for him to be doing work like this. Toko wasn't against people going against the grain, hell he was one of them, but it didn't happen often with the noble ones far as he was aware. Almost made him feel a little guilty for the idea that popped into his mind, but it wasn't his decision to make at least.
"Well like I said with her Thaddeus, its a pleasure and honor meetin' and workin' with ya, now as to our little task...I'll let you decide since you're my senior by boooout ten or twelve seconds."
That grin refused to leave his face, hands working to force his half of the fliers into the satchel hanging by his side, while also taking something out to fill his hands. The glimmer was gone, but it was hard to mistake a trumpet resting in his hands, fingers tapping its valves.
"I say we got ourselves three options, one we go your route hanging up those fliers, easy but don't think many'll notice since they aren't all to eye catching. Two..."
He twirled his instrument on one finger, his attempt at showing off nearly resulting in it flying off if it weren't for his body swinging down to catch it. Recovering with the grace of an experienced tavern performer, held it properly now.
"We use this old gal and my skills to gather up a crowd to perform and finally three, your names got a lotta sway I hear, a Williams mentioing how good it is could do a lot for her rep and pop."
Blue eyes watched Thaddeus, that energetic and easy going gaze seeming sharper, curious what his reaction would be to the ideas. He'd put his bets on the first plan but people always seemed to surprise when he least expected it.

A curious eyebrow would be raised as the Spring Deacon had kept a firm gaze settled upon the blond haired man that had stood before him. A Williams? Who in the world had gone by the surname Williams here? It most assuredly wasn't Thaddeus, that much is for sure. Rather than correct the man for his slip up though, Thaddeus would simply brush past it and reach around his back so that he could grab a hold of the wooden broom that had been placed there. After undoing the strap on the broom, he would hold it firmly in his left hand. "Well I can certainly agree with you on the fact that simply hanging up the flyers wouldn't be all that fun. If we are going to do this though, why not go bigger than just a bit of music? If we work together, I am certain that we can draw a crowd far larger than any that you have ever had."
Thaddeus would than proceed to kick himself off of the ground and into the air. Mana would begin to channel through the palms of his hand and into the broom of flying that he had been holding. Once the mana had done its job, the broom would lift Thaddeus further off of the ground until he had managed to stand atop of it. It was rather strange to balance himself atop of a broom like this but with practice he would get more used to it. "C'mon, let's get things kicked off." A simple wink would than be offered to Toko as Thaddeus would proceed to follow things up with yet another step. Rather than leave things as they were, Thaddeus would begin to raise his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion and shouts aloud a single word. "Oread!" Upon doing so, the carbon matter that had resided in the ground just before Toko would begin to shift and twist until it had ultimately shaped itself into an 8 meter tall carbon golem!
With such a massive being now inhabiting the street, many patrons and passerby's would stop and turn about to bear witness to such a sight! Some had been a little intimidated at first but once they had realized that it had been a member of the Church of Clover that had summoned to creature, their fears would begin to dissipate. "So what do you think, Mister Mcarro? Is this a big enough stage for you?" A sly smile had begun to creep upon the Spring Deacons lips as he would mentally command the carbon golem to bend down and extend a rocky platform via his hand to the blond haired man. If Toko were to accept the offer that the Spring Deacon had been offering to him, Thaddeus would mentally command the carbon golem to stand upright and raise Toko up to the point in which he could stand upon the creatures shoulder. All in all, the choice was left up to Toko himself.

William? Had he really messed up that name so bad, how drunk had he gotten last night. Scratching the back of his head at trying to remember his attempts at out drinking fishermen, or were they pirates. The confusion on his face quickly evaporated into that familiar grin, offering his new companion and partner a shrug.
"Eh William Wilhelm, either way a names a name and they're all the same even if ones got some shame, blame, or fame attached to it."
The quick shot saying tumbled out of his mouth just before the holy man performed his own act of attracting a crowd and stage, causing Toko to raise a brow in curiousity. The heck was he planning- That's a golem! If Toko had a bit more magic training of his own under his belt, he would've attempted or suggested something similar, already imagining how he could spread his voice to the crowd. Well it wasn't like he needed a book to do it, but it would've been just as flashy.Tugged out of his thoughts by an offered hand, he couldn't help leaping onto it and rising upwards. Laughter bubbling out of him, who knew the the church hired bold people like this?
"I'd be a liar if I said I expected this Thads, you got me a stage and an entrance, far be it from me ta rudely decline somethin' like that!"
He could only imagine the look of shock on the bakers face at this turn of events, giant statue moving outside her store and of the boys she hired riding its hands wielding a trumpet in his hands with the biggest grin stretched across his face. Did he have any idea what in the kingdom he was doing in that instrument. Yes, did he know how to play it effectively. Lord no. The noise that erupted from the front of it could only be described as that, noise, a chaotic cacophony of sound with no rhyme or reason to it except for grabbing everyone's attention. Where others had raw or trained talent, Toko just had a lot of passion and even more air to pour into his horn. And considering more than a few people were now staring up at him, some more glaring than staring, he'd say he succeeded with just that. Now pink faced and holding his 'weapon' in one hand, he reached over to his satchel and tugged free the now clump of fliers, tossing them out to the crowd.
"Here ya all go, if ya wanna show yer appreciation for the Toko and Thatds Wilhelm's concert, come on by the newly opened bakery with fresh baked treats!"
By some miracle a few actually ran past the golem to check out the establishment, more seeming interested, and the most being relieved that damn item had been stowed away in his bag. Even with the negative reviews, and more than a few grumbles and shouts tossed his way, Toko seemed happy as a kid glancing over to Thaddeus.
"Hope ya don't mind the nickname, I tend to give em out like candy when in the mood. I think we made a pretty good team for this kinda business...Though didn't expect a church guys first option to be magic hahaha. Ya got any more crazy ideas rattling in that noggin?"
Post by Thaddeus Wilhelm on Jun 14, 2022 18:22:03 GMT -5
To say that the cacophony of noise that had just emitted from the blond haired mans trumpet was pleasant would have been a lie. It would have been far more truthful to say that it was just.. noise. Nothing more and nothing less. Not exactly music but definitely not much else. Admittedly, it had taken a bit of restraint for the Spring Deacon to not just throw his hands over his ears at the sound itself. He hadn't wished to come across as rude after all, so instead he would opt to simply look up at Toko and offer him a soft smile with closed eyes. He couldn't really look up at the man at the moment... It would have ruined the vision that Thaddeus had held over his golems. Such a creation of beauty paired with sounds that just... weren't. It wouldn't have ended well for the poor Spring Deacon.
The fact that Toko had even gone as far as to mess up his first name whilst blatantly correcting and outing his surname to the crowd of people had left Thaddeus with rather mixed feelings. On one hand, it was interesting that the man had chosen to try and given him a nickname. On the other hand though, it had felt as though this man was trying to exploit the name of nobility to not only promote those sounds that had just escaped from his trumpet but with the new bakery. It wasn't so much an issue for the latter as it was for the former. Not that Thaddeus would ever say any of this to the Mccaro. He wasn't rude enough to say such heinous things. "It's no big deal, really. I think that we have made enough of an impact for the time being. We can however continue if you would like. We would simply need to head to different locations in the town and pass out these handouts with each announcement. Is that something that you are up for or do you think that you've had enough of an impact for the time being? And yes, I suppose that we do make a rather good team for the most part. If you are interested in learning more about this particular Deacon, you may always feel free to join me in the church in Nairn. It is where I am technically stationed."

The look on his face was far from showing any sort of pride or smugness, it was just pure joy in that moment. Toko loved the sound he could make with his instrument, flooding the world with it and getting everyone's attention with it. Even if it wasn't the most pleasant or attractive noise. So after the little impromptu concert and advertising, he had to do the right proper thing. With a turn, sliding his prized property into his bag, he gave his partner in noise pollution a bow and wink.
"It was a pleasure and honor gettin' to be so high up and blarin' my horn like that, thanks for givin' me that chance"
His grin turned thoughtful at the man's suggestion and offer. Hm the church...Was he trying to recruit him? Did they do things like the Magic Knights? He hadn't heard much about how the church got members from his regulars and the whispers of the crowd. It was an interesting offer to be sure. Would they want someone like him? Were they all willing like Thads? Toko's face had twisted and turned with each thought bouncing around in his noggin til he shrugged.
"I don't know if I'm much up for church goin' may get myself kicked out for noise complaints in a snap, but spreading the word may be a good way to spend the day. I'm sure with you lifting me and me lifting spirits, we'll have the whole town eating bread and our boss making more than one kinda dough."
The eagerness in his speech suddenly drooped as his ears once again seemed to twitch, the grin on his face shaking just a twinge. His hands dove to that big sack at his side, removing a brown cap that he tugged onto his head. A free hand patted the upper-class' shoulder before throwing a two handed salute his way.
"But looks like we gotta take a rain check some things came up, ya know wind calling, freedom, all that jazz and such. Plus some people just can't 'ppreciate a free show ya know?"
And with that flimsy excuse, he was diving for the crowd, fitting in with the flow and disappearing inside of it...Just as a new cacophony of noise made itself apparent. One that the Thaddeus might be able to pick up on and put two and two together with on his companion's sudden retreat.
"What was that god awfu' racket!?"
"WAS THAT MCARRO 'GAIN TOLD HIM BOUT THAT DAMNED HORN O' HIS!"
"MCARRO!? THAT PUNK DRANK US UNDER THE TABLE LAST NIGHT!"
"I can still hear my ears ringin' when I get my hands on that brown haired brat"
Rugged faces marched through the interested parties, looking for their target who seemed to have long fled the scene with some obvious experience. It looked like this wasn't his first time having a concert end in a near hunt, and with a personality like his, definitely wasn't going to be the last. But among the annoyed glares and grumbled threats, it couldn't be denied that there was a certain charm to the activity that now buzzed along the street. A new pulse of energy and life, all caused by a punk who didn't when to shut up, a horn that was loud as thunder, and the help of a new friend giving him a boost up.

With everything that had just happened, Thaddeus would allow for his carbon golem to return to the earth. There was no further need for his creation to remain idle within the streets and as such, it would sink back to where it had initially come from. Toko had take his leave and Thaddeus had figured that he might as well let the owners of the bakery know about what they had accomplished thus far. The Spring Deacon would proceed to fly back down to the ground and would do just that, this little adventure of his having come to an end.
