[attr="class","dungentitle"]THE UNDERCROFT
RANK: Grand LOCATION: Nairn MIN-MAX PLAYER GROUP: 2 - 4
A most peculiar bit of lore that has always been hidden well by the Church is that of a former Bishop, one that wished to become Cardinal by any and all means. Going as far as to use old relics taken from the great vault hidden underneath the royal capital, the man began extending his life beyond his expiration date before eventually doing the same to his followers. When the Spear sect of the church found him out, they eventually killed him and his cult while suffering heavy loses. Stashing everything away in a special area below the church in Nairn in a place called the Undercroft, everything that had anything to do with the Bishop was thrown into the deepest recesses of the Undercroft and stricken from the annals of history. For the past days however, visitors of the church, as well as the local deacons and nuns have claimed hearing noises from the mausoleum. But when they visited the place, there seemed to be nothing there, leading them to believe the place might be haunted. For this reason, local mages have been allowed to look into the matter, though the Cardinals keep their lips sealed with regards to what is truly down there, hidden underneath the mausoleum itself...

NUMBER OF ROOMS: 2 WORD COUNT PER ROOM: 3000 FLOOR DESCRIPTION:
When first coming to the church in respond to their request for aid, you will be given a key that will open the door to the mausoleum underneath the church itself. Claiming that people of high station and wealth have been put to rest here up until as recently as a few days ago, it is here that you will begin looking into the possibility of ghosts haunting the place. As the location of an Undercroft is unknown to anyone other than the Cardinals, none will be able to tell you there is anything else beside a mausoleum. As such, you will need to use all of your smarts in order to figure out how to move forward.
The religious dead buried underneath the church in the mausoleum, woken from their eternal slumber by the presence of something truly vile. Brought back with the single intention of destroying and killing the town above, as well as the church for their master, these are no longer the people they used to be. Nothing more than withered husks of once good people, enhanced beyond their prime by an infusion of immense necrotic power, they are to be put down before they put you down. These zombies attack with their hands and teeth, and possess no magic.
Stronger than your average undead, these were chosen to act as the eyes and ears of their master. In life, they were the followers of the bishop that sought to overthrow the seating power of the church, a sin they paid for with their lives. Stronger and more vicious than the others that were raised from the dead along with them up in the mausoleum, they can be used by their master to act as a voicebox by which he can speak to the interlopers. Also capable of taking direct control over their actions, they are nothing more than playthings of flesh and bone. The Envoys can use attack creation and hex magic using blood magic.

Claiming your key from the deacon in church of tending to the mausoleum, the young man asks that you do not go around looting any of the coffins or go around breaking anything. Clearly being very protective of the people down here, as well as taking his job very seriously, he closes the door behind you and lets you go about the place. After a proper inspection, those with at least 60 Sensory will be able to figure out that there is a tear in one of the walls. Those with at least Ki tier 3 will be able to vaguely sense movement behind that same wall, which will alarm them to the tear in the wall.

Once you decide to break your way through the wall to find out what is behind the tear, you will be washed over by a sense of dread that chills you to the bone, freezing you in place for a few moments. Feeling as if the very presence of death itself just passed through your being, it is then that the dead in the mausoleum behind you begin to rise from their coffins. Trying to get out of the mausoleum and wreak havoc on Nairn, it is up to you to put them back to rest before heading deeper into the area beyond the mausoleum.

NUMBER OF ROOMS: 2 WORD COUNT PER ROOM: 3500 FLOOR DESCRIPTION:
With the zombies in the mausoleum dealt with, the group presses on deeper into the place. Finding a staircase behind the wall that had been hidden from everyone, it takes them into a part of the church that is easily as old as the church in the royal capital. Fallen into disrepair a long time ago, the signs of battle can still be found on the stone walls in the form of scorch marks, puncture marks and deep cuts, as well as lots of dried blood. Funnily enough, there are no spiderwebs or anything of the sort around, almost as if even these animals knew better than to venture into this accursed place. But with the wall down that kept the evil within contained, it is up to you to press on and get rid of the main threat.
Once belonging to a sect of warriors trained by the church and meant to embody the spirit of the Salamander, these valorous warriors fell in their battle against their new master and his lackeys. Thrown away after their passing and receiving no honors for their sacrifice, simply tossed into the undercroft and forgotten about by the world, these undead are not being controlled. Instead, they fight against the living out of their own free will as their hatred against the church is enough to push them towards the death of those that would kill the master that brought them back from the dead. The Spears are capable of utilizing physical reinforcement and attack creation magic of cosmic or fire.
Among the Spears of old, Hadrian was said to be the most blessed by the salamander. Possessing virtue, valor and a sense of justice, some within the church believed that he might one day become a Cardinal. However, as fate would have it, he was among several of his brothers to fall in battle while bringing down the monster that raised them back into undeath. Having been stashed away here for untold decades without anyone to even know of the sacrifice he and his brethren made, his virtues have made way for a blind rage towards all mortals that would enter the halls he now calls home. Above all, he must not be allowed to make it into the world above, as the damage he might cause out of sheer rage would be catastrophic. Hadrian can utilize physical reinforcement, healing and attack creation magic. Upon starting combat, he will rally his men and increase their strength by a Senior amount.

Heading down the staircase and making your way into the undercroft that had been hidden so long ago, a dark magic is almost tangible in the air. As you wander through the place, you can hear movement up ahead, though it is different from the movement of the average zombie. This seems more controlled, almost like the marching of soldiers getting closer to you. So as you fully descend the stairs, you are met with a few zombies, as well as the revived spears of the salamander.

Unlike the average undead, Hadrian is capable of speaking in coherent sentences, which he will do by means of calling you out. Calling the church and all it stands for a lie as they left him to rot down here, discarding him and his men once they had no more use for him, he will begin to violently assault you in an attempt at getting back at the outside world.

NUMBER OF ROOMS: 3 WORD COUNT PER ROOM: 4000 FLOOR DESCRIPTION:
Should you manage to put an end to the tragic afterlives of the Spears that had once done the noble thing by ridding the country of a most dangerous threat, the team goes that much deeper into the place. As the air begins to truly reek, a foul stench penetrates your nostrils, making most feel like vomitting. Making your way out of the previous room and reaching a place that seems so foul and despoiled it can't be the same church, there are rotting remains everywhere. More than that, it is as if the rot is being forcibly spread along the floor, walls and ceiling as if intended to cover the whole interior. If this continues, the spread of death might reach outside of this place and bring a pestilence upon the people of Clover. Yet another issue that clearly needs to be resolved.
Once a nun in the church of Nairn, Mathildis got in close with Geraint, even though she was not allowed to start a family as per church rules. Believing things might change once Geraint would rise to power as a Cardinal, she went through a great deal of hardship to see to it that he did so they might one day have children. When Geraint fell off the deep end and began using demonic artifacts to extend his life, she was made the same offer, which she gladly took. So when the Spears attacked and killed them all, she was among the first to be risen into unlife as a lich. Using her newfound necrotic powers to sire "Children" out of the rot, her demented mind wishes to see more and more people killed and thrown into the rot room so that she might give birth to more. Mathildis uses golem creation, defense creation and healing using a fungus based magic. Every round, she can spawn up to three Grand golems of any given type out of the surrounding area to attack her foes.
A Bishop that aspired to one day become a Cardinal realized after years of service to the church that he would never get his chance, as the current Cardinals just would not seem to die. As such, he was eventually tempted by a demonic artifact that was brought into his care. Instead of bringing it to the great vault, he liberated various other items of similar power in order to extend his life, and grant him control over life and death. Extending his life and that of his wife Mathildis, they began plotting to overthrow the church by killing the seated Cardinals and replacing them with and his people. When he and his cult following were eventually found out, they were assaulted and killed by the Spears, but not before ensuring they would all die with them. Stashed away inside of the Undercroft, the ritual that had him take the power from the demonic artifacts made him effectively immortal, allowing him to come back after being killed. As such, he has become an eternal threat to the kingdom that has to be stopped by any means needed. Caring nothing for life itself, he gladly indulges his wife in making more rot monsters she calls children, as well as fueling the anger Hadrian and his Spears feel towards the living. Geraint uses attack creation along with hexes and healing of the Decay magic type, making him rather unique. Once per round, he can revive all of the Fallen Spears in the room for half of their health.

Fallen Spears (4x per player)
With the death of Hadrian, the way deeper into the undercroft is left unguarded, allowing the team the chance to advance deeper into a place that is covered in fungus and decay. Hearing a distant chanting of a female voice in the distance, more fallen spears march on your position in an attempt at keeping you from what they call the "Incubation room". Clearly being something important for whatever the master of this place has in store for you, and indeed the world, you need to push through the guards and get into this room.

Beating the guards outside, you make your way into the Incubation room, a room so dense with decay and fungus that it actually becomes hard to breathe. Noticing the faint figure of a woman, as she no longer looks all that human, she asks if you've come to witness the birth of her next batch of children. With several guards posted by her side to keep you from getting right to her, she reaches into the rot and pulls out a twisted little monster that appears rotten to the core. Kissing it as though it were a newborn child, the woman calls herself Mathildis before claiming you will become part of the incubation room soon, and that you will finally be loved.

Fallen Spears (3x per player) | Geraint, Arch-Lich of Nairn
Defeating Mathildis and her following of Spears and rotten golems, the way into the inner sanctum is freed up. Once you enter the place, the doors will lock behind you as the rotting substance and a mass of fungus grows over and shuts the door completely. Descending from the sky until he hovers but a few centimeters above the floor, Geraint will look you over and question whether or not the church sent you, and if they made you aware of what was down here. He will ask if you were aware of the Spears you killed so far, and of Hadrian, loyal followers of the church that were discarded and stricken from history as if they had all never existed. Asking you whether you would consider joining his cause and bring down the church to install a better one, it won't be long before it becomes clear that he won't stop at the church. Having clearly gone insane from being isolated from the world for hundreds of years in the dark, his goals of killing and returning all of Clovers citizens and covering the land in rot and decay have to be stopped.
[attr="class","haniascroll"]It wasn't unusual for the head of the Ravencrest to take interest not only in his own family's performance but in inter-squad relations, it was part of his duties as a vice-captain after all. He had been up later than what was normal for him as he went over two reports of his cousin, his would-be friend within the Black Bulls and a personal account by the seamstress that he requested create his cousin Amaya's clothing. While reading them he looked somewhat vexed as he rubbed his temple "This would be an absolute public relations nightmare if this was to become known." he said to himself, he couldn't believe that one of his own family had acted so spineless, he expected a Black Bull to be reckless but not that foolish. Had the newest generation of the magic knights truly forgotten that there was still a broken and strained relationship between the magic knights and the general populace?
Taking out three pieces of paper he penned three letters. One would be going to the head of the Honoka, One would be going to Malcolm who was the Black Bulls captain and the third would go to the Golden Dawn captain Zaven. He essentially told each captain that he was taking Asahi and Kenja out for a bit of training in duty, common sense, and respect for others and themselves since they seemingly lacked it. The father of Sumire got a letter stating he wanted to mend the tarnished view his daughter may have of the magic knights and swore he would return her unharmed at the end of the exercise. In each letter, he told them to meet in front of the church of Gnome in Nairn at five in the morning. He knew this would instantly make him unpopular but he honestly didn't care.
He was usually already an hour into training at that point. With the letters sent he knew that the captains in question as well as Sumire's father would be aware within two hours. He left a letter inside Kenji's room in the estate telling him where to go in the morning and the time he was to be there and he wouldn't accept him being tardy. With that done he, himself, went to bed. At two in the morning, he woke, bathed and got dressed before eating something light so he could take his medication. He made some food to eat when he got to the church as well as took some water to drink along the way. With everything done, he placed it in a satchel and made his way to Nairn running most of the way so he still got some of his morning exercise.
He had made good time even without the use of magic it having only taken him around two hours to get from his home to his destination, and this gave him about forty-five minutes before he expected the three others to be there. Finding a bench he would take a seat on a bench and took out his food and some water to begin eating as he enjoyed the morning's tranquillity; once he had finished he would place things back in the small satchel but would remain sitting until the others arrived his eyes looking up to the overcast sky 'Are we going to see rain today I wonder?' he thought to himself for a moment as he felt a cold rain drop hit his head 'Well that answers that now doesn't it' Asmostia sent back to him making the ice mage chuckle quietly as he remained where he was letting the weather come.
Rank & Element: Junior ¦ Light Class & Type: Relic ¦ Accessory (bracelet) Magic Specializations: Physical Reinforcement ¦ Healing Appearance & Lore: A simple bracelet made out of reinforced glass with an opalite charm dangling from it almost like a pendulum, that gives off a dull light during the day and a bright light during the night preventing any natural shadow from forming.
There is nothing of major historical importance or deep story into where this item came from. The white-haired heir of the Ravencrest family has suffered from terrible day and night terrors since he was young and still does to this day. When asked what is wrong he brushes it off telling people not to worry it was a condition he had. He will never go into the terrible things he sees, in fact, he personally wishes he could forget he quickly realized that his perfect memory was a double edge sword and at times he truly wished he didn't have it.
His elder sister Lydia was the first to realize that it happened more when he was in an emotional state or surrounded by darkness. She also realized that he refused to sleep unless every light source he could find was active or he would sleep outside under the sun during the day, this wasn't optimal as he was to be trained to take over the family if anything were to happen to Lydia. Still, there wasn't much anyone could think to do to help him as he refused to open up but even if they could that came with a different set of hurdles they had to get over. Hania earlier in his life wouldn't take things from people due to his treatment before being adopted.
It took a while but Lydia finally found a way to help her younger brother, she had a crystal made with light inside and told him to use it when he sleeps. She said it was hers and she just wanted to see if it would help. He was reluctant but she said it only had to be a few days so he accepted. Throughout those few days, he slept somewhat peacefully so it was clear that it helped but not enough, she could only guess that the light wasn't strong enough. She realized this would be fine for a normal child afraid of the dark but it was clear to the pink-haired woman that this wasn't a normal situation.
She personally designed what she believed would help him the most, she chose the materials, their appearance even the opalite that dangles from it. As the bracelet was being made she slowly started to imbue her own element into the glass beads and the opalite as the former was created and the latter was shaped. It took close to a year to complete but Lydia seen it as something that should be done slow and steady, this was to make sure that it was done right the first time and that no matter what it would be near indestructible for whatever he may face in life.
On what is now classed as Hania's eighth birthday after a certain incident happened, she gave him a box, within it laid the bracelet. He was told to keep it with him always as she would be there to keep the darkness at bay and watching over him so he could be at peace while he rested. From that moment he has always kept it with him even if he hasn't always worn it.

[attr="class","haniascroll"]Kenja had always believed in the importance of discipline and rigorous training. It had been drilled into him since a child having grown up in a military family. His mornings began early around 5:30 to 6:00 am. In the quiet solitude of his room, he would don his training attire, a simple but sturdy set of white garments that allowed for unrestricted movement. Unlike some young wizards who might rely solely on their innate talents, Kenja understood that true mastery of magic required not only natural talent but also dedication. His daily routine was a testament to this philosophy. Before the sun's earliest light touched the horizon, Kenja would step out into the training grounds. The air was often crisp and cool at this hour, invigorating him as he began his military drills. His drills weren't merely about developing physical prowess; they were a means to enhance his control over mana, a vital aspect of his magical abilities. The morning sun would gradually rise, casting warm hues across the training grounds, but Kenja remained unfazed, his focus unbroken. For Kenja, these early morning sessions were not just about physical training but also about nurturing his connection to the mana that flowed through him.
After a hard morning of training, he went about his daily routine and went back to his room that evening. He wasn't shocked to see a sealed letter waiting for him on his desk. It had happened before, but this time what was shocking to him was who it was from. The envelope was of fine quality, with an elegant wax seal bearing the Ravencrest family crest. Kenja's curiosity was piqued as he carefully broke the seal and unfolded the letter inside. His eyes scanned the crisp parchment, taking in the words penned by his cousin, Hania.
Kenja,
Your antics of late shine our family in a bad light, this can not be ignored. I expect you to be in front of the church of Gnome in Nairn no later than five tomorrow morning.
Hania~
Kenja raised an eyebrow as he read the message. He was used to following orders, but this was unusual. Not only that but according to Hania his antics as of late had shown the family in a bad light and it couldn't be ignored. Even with his analytical mind, he couldn't figure out what he could have possibly done wrong, but he was sure he was going to be told. There was an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach that told him he was about to get taught a hard lesson...One thing was certain, though. Kenja was not the type to shirk his responsibilities or ignore an order, especially from a family member who held a position of authority. He may have questions, but he was prepared to follow through with Hania's directive. With a blank stoic expression, he set the letter down on his palatial desk and began to prepare for the early morning excursion the next day. He packed typical gear, a flask of water, and some trail rations to sustain him during the journey. As he double-checked his belongings, he couldn't help but wonder what the morning would bring and what lessons or challenges awaited him at the church of Gnome in Nairn.
By now his internal clock had been finely tuned over the years to rouse him from slumber and this morning was no different. Just incase he had informed a servant to wake him earlier than normal since he had to travel and be at his destination at 5 am. With a graceful and efficient motion, Kenja rose from his bed, his lean form moving with practiced agility. He donned ate some breakfast and started h is journey to the church of Gnome in Nairn.
Kenja arrived a little earlier than the appointed time having left in amble time to make sure he didn't add fuel to the fire. As he approached the sacred place, a light rain began to fall. There, on a bench beneath the overcast sky, sat his older cousin. Kenja approached and greeted Hania with the grace and nobility befitting his rank and stature. "Good morning, Hania," Kenja greeted respectfully, his voice carrying an air of respect and reverence. "I have received your summons and am here as you requested. How may I be of service today?" He awaited Hania's response with a poised demeanor.
[attr="class","augusttext"] Asahi had been on a few dungeon runs as a magic knight, but those would be nothing in comparison to what he would soon face. As the black bull rested one day within the squad base he would be alerted by a knock at his bedroom door. Upon opening the door the black bull would find nobody there just simply a note, signed by his captain. His captain Malcolm was a very elusive man, and it came times where Asahi honestly questioned if he existed or not. Regardless of that the black bull would bend down to pick up the later from the hall floor. [BREAK][BREAK] Asahi would begin to read the letter, with it being very short and to the point. In simple terms Malcolm had told Asahi that he was to report to the church in Nairn by no later than 5 a.m. the following day. Upon reading this Asahi’s face would instantly sour before saying “Who does Malcolm think he is? Just leaving mystery order notes…” Asahi would then think to himself that the captain may still be lurking nearby watching and listening, so he would refrain from saying anything else. Instead he simply would re enter his room and shut the door. [BREAK][BREAK] The black bull would prepare his things for the following day so that he could leave out as early as 4 a.m. With his cloths laid out, his broom on standby, and his small satchel packed Asahi would take himself to sleep to prepare for whatever he was about to be doing. It was only 5 in the afternoon but Asahi didn’t sleep much on a regular basis, so when he does he sleeps for long amounts of time.It would not take long before 5 p.m. would become 3 a.m. and Asahi would once again be awake and ready to start the day. [BREAK][BREAK] Once he was awake and dressed he would grab his broom and his satchel before leaving out. He would fly to the church so the journey was much faster than it would have been more previously. As he arrived just a bit before 5, raindrops would begin to fall from the sky. Asahi would think to himself *Hmmm, didn’t expect any rain today…* before continuing his flight. He would arrive overhead and see that Kenja and another person were already at the location. [BREAK][BREAK] Asahi would slowly bring himself and his broom towards the ground, before disembarking and speaking to the two with a simple “Hello Kenja. Hello…. Who might you be sir?” He asked politely not knowing if he was supposed to know the man. It was also noteworthy that Asahi truly had no idea what he was doing here to begin with. After a while Asahi would look to Kenja and say “So what exactly are you doing here bud?” Asahi thought to say more but he thought it best to simply play the role of an observer for now, as he was around someone he did not know.

Sumire was quiet surprised of the events of the week in more way then one. She had an entire day of appointments suddenly removed when a request of a meeting from Hania to speak with her. It was odd to have set clients go to another so she could tend to the meeting with a even more influential client then most of them combined. It had seemed this week with meeting Yursir and joseph of the same family and then tending to a sudden meeting with Hania to discuss some events within two dungeons with his cousin she had went into. Were the dungeons dangerous, Absolutely. Did she have fun? For the most part yes. Learning more about clover was a blast and interesting. Though it was concerning deep down that the issue she had worked so hard from being known by anyone was being proven right. She wasn't completely safe with the magic knights. The dungeon proved that to her. It was worrisome since her issue hasn't entirely reshown his face but she knew he was still out there.
[break][break] The night Sumire was almost ready for bed when she was requested to be seen by her father. She always enjoyed what time she got from her father and his busy schedule but this meeting seemed odd when she was told she was not going to be tending to the Ravencrest's clothing order tomorrow, that instead she was requested by Hania to be sent to the church of Gnome in Nairn to mend a tarnished viewing upon his family. Which Sumire knew exactly what incident he was speaking of as she explained the issues within that dungeon and what the meeting earlier in the week was about. She had already dealt with her scolding and punishments of tending with the two dungeons as her place wasn't on the battlefield. and the actions and views of that dungeon was a scary one that could have went worse if anything had actually happened.
[break][break] "I know you are concern father, but there is no reason to be. I will be fine and continue keeping ourselves in good graces with them." She Spoke gently knowing his worry. Influence and growth was one thing but the power of that family as clients solidify their books for minimum a half year if not even longer. She dedicated three entire months alone to that one order to ensure it was prepared and ready to meet the standards requested of it.
[break][break] "Do not fail us Sumire and come back safe." he said.[break] "This is with Hania, I am more then safe."She spoke with a smile heading to her room to sleep for the night.
----------------------
[break][break] That morning She woke up at 2, an hour earlier then her usual by her manabeast already moving around, pulling out her various ledges to climb up into her closest, getting her ready for the day at hand. It wasn't long before her mother and younger siblings invaded her room as well with their usual chatter and assistance. Her Mother had prepared a Satchel with some supplies to keep her occupied on the trip as well as a some field supplies just incase. While Sumire can heal and tend to herself, it was always a good thing to have on hand. She shooed everyone out of her room once her attire was decided by them before tending to getting dressed on top of the newest part of her morning ritual
[break][break] Sumire pulled the top part of her hair back securing it with the gift she had received from Enlil. She hadn't told her family the real truth of that gift as it wasn't something that was official. While most of her family was easy to fool with explanation. she knew a few of them saw through the tale. There was just something about this item from Enlil that just made her feel a little bit safer. She knew its meaning and lineage within his family. She knew the rites to it and tended to them just as she had been told. it was out of respect for tradition as well as how she felt for the gift and what accepting it meant to her.
[break][break] She checked herself once over before heading out of the room adjusting the satchel to her side as her newest escort Shi followed closely behind. She watched Shi accept the umbrella her mother handed them as she looked up at the sky "smells like rain." She said to herself climbing into the carriage before heading off to Nairn.
[break][break] She ate the breakfast her mother had prepared for her. it was small and light but just what she needed for the tasks at hand. Sumire personally have never been to any of clover's churches. She believed the spirits were powerful but she didn't see the point of making them the focus of a religion and how it is handled. Then again, she had not looked into their religion as it was not something that interested her.
[break][break] She and Shi held a small conversation. She was still off about having a personal escort now. Especially one her father employed from back home. She knew nothing of the woman but knew her father had a reason for everything he did or said to the family. they were close knit and family was everything to her. Her apparent rebellious streak wasn't the worst thing but it wasn't good when the fact her father seemed to notice it and has been keeping track even more, however she had a reason for her actions. This was a matter she was going to tend to herself. She just hoped nothing more would come from it.
[break][break] Sumire enjoyed the carriage ride to Nairn, she enjoyed the scenery and her quiet time tending to finishing her meal and drink before keeping her plans of the order she was originally suppose to work on fresh in her mind as she was excited to work on the clothing but also excited to tending to this exercise.
[break][break] She felt the carriage stop, peering out the window to see the church in question and the three figures gathered there. "We are here" she said with a smile as Shi got out first, opening an umbrella holding out a closed fan to her side assisting sumire down before putting it away within her robes .
[break][break] "thankyou for escorting me today Shi." She said to the escort.[break]
"It was my honor." She said already having her order form Sumire's father. She wasn't one for magic knights herself as she still didn't seem much to them and their way but they were the military power of this kingdom so in theory, they would be more then capable of handling watch over her charge. She had heard of Hania Ravencrest, even back home so she was interested to hear more of this adventure when she was done. "I will be out here awaiting your return." She said with a smile as they moved towards the three magic knights bowing quickly to them [break][break] "Good morning everyone." She said sweetly before looking towards Hania. " Thankyou for the lovely order you have allowed my family to tend to Hania, and thankyou for allowing me to accompany you and the others." She said with a smile as her sapphire eyes turned towards Kenja and Asahi "Hello to you both as well, I do hope life has been well to the both of you since we last met?" She asked curiously hearing the rain drops hit the umbrella lightly.
A first this item may seem like a simple thin, yet large golden ring that could be used as a bracelet, that is until each of the other pieces are connected. The first seems to be an elaborate hair comb whose teeth are made to sit inside the ring, this part of the hairpin is adorned with carefully crafted butterflies and flowers made of several different colours of jade. The flowers have small pearls in the centre while each of the butterfly's antennae is made from gold with a small piece of mother of pearl at the top. At the base of the comb section of the hairpin, there are three golden chains which start with three pearls, then three small gold charms, three more pearls, three small golden balls, and two butterflies on the outer chain while the centre is split into three additional chains. The centre has mother of pearl beads. Each of the five chains has a small carved pearl flower. To make sure the ring and comb stay in place the last piece of this elaborate hairpin is the pin itself which is made from gold that has a pearl at the top with two splintering golden chains that have the same small carved pearl flowers.[break]
History:[break]
The history of this hairpin has been a long one, in fact, it has been around for so long and had so many owners that the adornments and chains had once been broken, chipped or lost. The origins of the hairpin weren't anything significant, a man met a woman, the man fell in love with that woman and wanted to show his devotion to her and so made a token of his love. It was something that was given to the firstborn son of the Yinsil family at their coming of age so they may give it to their betrothed when he felt the pang of love for her. By the time it had gotten to Enlil, it was nothing more than a husk of its former self and so through painstaking love and attention to detail he removed each of the old adornments making them into new pieces of jewellery for his mother and sisters before crafting brand new ones for the woman that would one day be his wife. It had taken him years to get the hairpin in such a state that he found it aesthetically pleasing to look at and that his future wife would feel honoured to wear it to show their bond of love.
[break][break] Abilities:
[break][break] The wearer of Xià Rì Zhī Liàn gains access to the perks 'Full Blitz' and 'Self Repairing'
Touching the twin chains of the pin starting at the pearl before moving to the pearl flowers saying "Shèngkāi" creates what seems like blue jade flower petals to fall from the sky which surround the wearer. These petals are no bigger than apple blossom petals and remain within six inches of the wearer on all sides almost like a bubble. The petals can take up to intermediate damage before being destroyed, however, if the gem petal bubble isn't destroyed it will repair itself the following round. With the use of the ammo rules, the wearer can say the name of allies to have them gain the same benefits from this ability.[break]
Raising their dominant hand to the sky they circle their wrist gracefully as they lower their hand almost as if a falling flower petal, the circle motion must happen four times for the ability to activate. At the base of the wearer's feet, is a seal made from topaz, looking closer makes it almost seem as if it is designed after bamboo. This seal has two effects, the first being a marking which looks like a topaz bamboo shoot that appears at the back of the wearer's hand increasing their physical strength to junior rank damage while also giving their physical attacks a magical backing. The second is that if an attack gets close a thick bamboo-like forest made from topaz sprouts around the wearer. This forest is only around twelve inches away from the user and requires intermediate damage before it is destroyed, however, if the forest isn't destroyed then it will repair itself the very following round.
[break][break] Name of the Ability: Shǎn Liàng De Mìngyùn[break]
This ability is passive due to this the word count to raise it will be added to the relics word count as it will increase at the exact same time. For now, this ability seems inactive due to no real connection made with the relic, however, as the relic gets stronger the wearer will find that their speed will increase by one rank lower as per the passive buff rules.
[attr="class","haniascroll"]Hania felt another drop of rain on his head but he still didn't move, in fact, he just surrounded himself in his mana and watched as the raindrops turned to ice before even touching him and rolling onto the ground. He looked up hearing his cousin's voice "Good morning to you to Kenja. I can see you are here at my request, as I sent the request and I do, in fact, have a set of eyes." he said calmly his tone and facial features remaining completely neutral "But stop sounding like a servant of the Silva or as if you are working in a store." he couldn't help but sigh hearing his cousin's words and wonder what on earth his mother and father were teaching him to speak in such a manner. Soon enough the second male he had requested turned up it was quite odd how he addressed him.
"Good morning Asahi, I see you've been living as a hermit if you don't know who I am." he said moving to his satchel "Please don't call me sir, it irritates me." he would say his tone seemingly not changing nor had his facial expression. "My name is Hania as for why Kenja is here, for the exact same reason you are. I sent a request to his captain for his presence this morning." he said standing as the final member of the group turned up. He stood and moved over to Sumire and bowed to her in a traditional manner from their homeland "Good morning Sumire, I do hope the journey for you was a pleasant one." he would say his voice gentle as he spoke. "I do apologise for taking time out of your otherwise busy schedule for this." he said as he stood straight once more.
"Please, think nothing of it Sumire. My cousin Amaya loved her last wardrobe and insists that I have the same seamstress every season." he would give a small smile "Ah, as for your accompanying us with this task I want to show you that the issues are being tended to. I can understand why a civilian may not feel safe with magic knights after what they saw." he said his ice blue eyes turning towards Asahi and Kenja, they were cold and sharp showing that his last comment was about the pair. From his satchel, he brought out two reports and the account of Sumire. "These are why the three of you have been called here and why I am the one going to fix this issue before it becomes a public relations nightmare." he said his tone remaining calm none of them knew him well enough to read the undertones or micro-expressions he was using.
"First of all, a civilian should never be asked to take the lead of two magic knights, they are a civilian and expect magic knights to be competent enough to not only lead but protect them." he said his tone stern as he looked at both Kenja and Asahi. "If anything had happened to Sumire because you two clowns decided that she should lead then you'd both be in serious trouble, you understand that right?" he would ask then before he then turned his attention to Kenja "You shouldn't let a lower class magic knight dictate how something is going to go because they don't like the fact you are born a noble and claim it as quote unquote noble privilege." he scolded him not as a family member but as his superior within the magic knights.
"If you are the higher rank magic knight you are the one in charge and are the one that is leading no ifs, ands or buts do I make myself clear Kenja?" he said his voice serious on the matter. "You especially would be at fault if a mission failed because you are the superior." he said he wasn't playing games, his eyes then turned to Asahi "Where to start in regards to your antics." he sighed shaking his head "You are nothing more than a sell sword attempting to mimic a magic knight, so my advice would be to leave before you get another magic knight or some innocent person killed." he said not caring if he rubbed the younger magic knight up the wrong way this was a home truth that he needed to hear. "Next, bringing a dog to a dungeon what in heaven's name were you thinking?" he would ask in disbelief.
"Even leaving it at the entrance that poor thing could have been killed by a wandering mana beast or if something managed to escape the dungeon. Is that what you intended for that poor animal? If not leave it at home going forward when doing duties if you intend to remain a magic knight." he would say "The next thing is telling your pet to bite another magic knight and a superior at that, don't do it you can and will get into serious trouble for that." he informed him "I could only imagine what you'd do if I asked Leone to bite you even as a joke." he would state to Asahi 'That mana beast has better taste than to eat trash' Amostia sent to the ice mage through their bond making the ice mage to look at the bird on his shoulder 'Then why does he keep trying to eat you? Just keep such comments to yourself.' he sent back to the spirit.
"Next issue, telling a superior they aren't in a position to lead. No, that doesn't fly. You shut up and respect the chain of command, if you do not agree with an order then be respectful and bring forward what issue you have with the order and give a suggestion to what you believe to be a better course of action and why." he said remaining calm "If you do not believe that are fit to be in command you better give one hell of a damned good reason for it other than the fact you are biased against nobles." he said "What was it you said... oh I remember..." he said starting to make quotation marks "No way in hell you are leading anything! We won’t keep filming episodes of the Kenja and friends show. Besides we both know you are not the best qualified to be the tank of the group…" he lowered his hands as he finished what was put in Sumire's account of the situation.
"He is a higher rank in the magic knights and so he should have been leading on that factor alone, his heritage doesn't factor into that, do I make myself clear." he was once again being stern on this matter "I am not a quote unquote tank are you going to try that same line with me?" he would ask "Would you tell Hinota that she's a pacifist and so shouldn't be on a battlefield although she's proven time and time again she belongs on a battlefield more than most offensive mages?" he said giving two examples wondering what his answer would be. "Now the big one. You thought it was a good idea to pull a sword on a fellow magic knight in front of a civilian? You realize there is still tension between the general population and the magic knights and screw ups like that just make it worse." he would roll his eyes.
"More than that, you pointed it a superior, and for what? Because you claim it's because of what noble privilege that he put forward the suggestion that he should lead?" he would say "Does he really look like a Silva because I can tell you they're the only ones that might... might try and pull a stunt like that. my family in fact do not work like that and wouldn't like the outcome if they did and I found out about it." he said he wasn't kidding about any of this. "Magic knights are meant to work as a team regardless of squad. We are meant to be able to trust the ones standing with us to watch and protect our backs when it matters and I do not get that feeling with either of you idiots due to your behaviour, so I can only imagine how insecure Sumire was feeling being around you two bickering like undisciplined and uneducated fools." he said placing the reports back into his satchel.
"Kenja, you should know better given your upbringing but it seems like that has been lax. I'll inform the instructors so you can get a refresher course." he said showing he was in trouble when he got home. "Now, with that out of the way..." he looked at Asahi "I assume you do not have an issue with me taking the lead?" it was a rhetorical question as only a captain or higher would be able to take the lead from him. "So there have been rumours for a while about a bishop in the royal capital that wanted to become a cardinal by any means, it was said that he was even seeking a way to extend his life no matter the cost and even used a relic from the vaults to try and achieve it." he started his tone once again becoming neutral.
"According to these rumours he managed to do so and even had a cult of followers whom he did the same thing." he would say almost thoughtfully "The reaper does always get his pound of flesh, it is a deal that's outcome can never be evaded." Amostia chimed in "The spears of Salamander found out and eradicated the bishop and his cult but they experienced heavy losses in doing so." he continued allowing them to know what they would actually be doing together. "By what these rumours have said everything to do with bishop and his cult was thrown into the deepest recesses of this church undercroft and it was even stricken from the church's records." he continued "However, there may be something to this once thought to be an urban myth" he looked at the church.
"visitors of the church, as well as the local deacons and nuns have claimed hearing noises from the mausoleum over the past few days, yet when people go down there to look they see and hear nothing so it is believed that the place is haunted." he said turning his eyes to the trio "Mages are being permitted to go into the mausoleum to attempt to find the cause of the noises and put an end to whatever might be the cause." he hoped they all understood this didn't essentially mean that they would be killing anything if it was just some punks playing a prank. "The higher-ups in the church are remaining tight-lipped over the entire ordeal and so what I'm telling you is all that is known." he would finish "Rules. Keep to single-target spells if they do damage. Do not damage the caskets. Do not disrupt the dead." He would state before walking towards the church doors "Oh, and the danger in here is very real for someone even of my strength." he would warn allowing them to decide if they wanted to risk the danger.

[attr="class","haniaimage"]❝Light as feathers, as fleeting as Zephyr, one moment they breathed gold, the next they faded.❞
[attr="class","haniascroll"]As Hania addressed each of their concerns and laid out the litany of issues that had arisen during their previous mission, Kenja listened with the stoic demeanor that had become his trademark. He didn't interrupt or defend himself; instead, he absorbed the words like a student taking notes during a lecture. Inside Kenja's mind, a tempest of thoughts swirled like a chaotic storm. Hania's words had cut through the veneer of confidence and superiority that often shielded him. He couldn't deny the truth in his cousin's stern reprimand. The fact that he had allowed his behavior had struck a chord deep within him. It was a sobering realization that he had become complacent, believing that his birthright alone would guide him to success. As Hania continued to outline their mission, Kenja found himself in a state of deep introspection. He had always considered himself a quick learner and a diligent student of magic, but now he faced a different kind of lesson—one that challenged not just his magical abilities but his character, his lineage, and his place within the Magic Knights. When he set off to meet Hania he couldn't think of what he had done wrong but with it laid out before him he couldn't feel anything but frustration at himself for being so foolish and blind. He questioned his actions and choices, dissecting them with a critical eye. But even as he grappled with his own shortcomings, Kenja knew that dwelling on past mistakes would not serve him well. He had always been driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to improve himself. Hania's words, though harsh, were an opportunity for growth. They were a reminder that he could never stop learning, and never stop striving to be better.
And so, as he listened to Hania's explanations about the potentially haunted mausoleum, Kenja began to shift his focus. He considered the mission ahead, the mysteries that lay within the underground chambers, and the dangers that awaited them. His analytical mind started formulating plans and strategies, envisioning how he could contribute to the success of the mission. Kenja was ready to put his past mistakes behind him, embrace the challenges of the present, and prove his worth as a magic knight. He knew that actions spoke louder than words, and he was determined to demonstrate his commitment and competence in the field, especially under the leadership of his cousin, Hania. When the opportunity arose for him to ask questions about the mission, Kenja seized it. "Hania," he began respectfully, his voice now devoid of the unnecessary formality he had initially displayed, "I appreciate your candidness and the guidance you have provided. Regarding the mausoleum and the potential hauntings, have you encountered such phenomena before? Are there specific types of haunts or spirits we should be prepared for that you have encountered before in the possibility there are similar ones here?" He paused for a moment, his analytical mind already assessing the situation. "Additionally, what roles do you envision for us during this mission? Given the potential dangers. That said, I am up for the task." Kenja's readiness for the task ahead was evident in his tone. He was prepared to put his previous missteps behind him and prove himself capable in the field, especially under Hania's leadership.
[attr="class","augusttext"] Upon his arrival he was greeted rather straight forward, with not a single word wasted. The man would seem like he was not used to people not knowing who he was, and also let it be known to not call him sir. After looking at the man for a while and now knowing his name, something in him would click and he would realize who exactly Hania was. The man also explained that Kenja was here for the same reason as him, however that reason was still unknown. It would not take long before Sumire would arrive, and she would get a rather personal greeting as opposed to Asahi. [BREAK][BREAK] After Sumire arrived more information would be revealed as to the reasoning these three were gathered together again. It appeared that the actions between Asahi and Kenja had been seen as less than acceptable and this little meeting was some sort of way to discipline them. After Asahi heard Hania make a comment about how they could have gotten in trouble if Sumire got injured because she was forced to lead, it would seem like his silent time was over. “I hope your silly report says how I also never wanted her to come into either of those dungeons…” [BREAK][BREAK] Hania would then go on and begin to scold his cousin directly for his actions, and the conversation was cringe in the mind of Asahi. To Asahi he felt disrespected and as if the game of favorites was at play, as he did not take kind to Kenja being noted as his superior. He felt as if the boy could be someone’s superior but for anyone to believe the Ravencrest was actually superior in any form was a laugh to him. He was by no means cocky or arrogant but he believed in himself far too highly to let such comments slide. After Kenja got his short few shots of talking, Hania would move on to Asahi. [BREAK][BREAK] “Yes, im loving to hear what you have to say about me.” He would start after hearing Hania say he didn’t know where to start. He was almost immediately called a sell sword with the intent of mimicking a magic knight, to which he would immediately rebuttal saying “The hell is your problem thinking you know me? I can’t be a sell sword if I’ve never sold my skills to anyone, outside of a educational setting. If anything im teacher or instructor. I became a knight because I was already fighting criminals on the streets anyway. It only made sense to do it so I could stop worrying about being arrested for it… Not a single citizen has ever been injured while under my guard, so you can save that shit for someone else.” [BREAK][BREAK] The scolding would continue when Hania would move onto the fact that Asahi had gotten a dog and left it outside the dungeon until the group finished. He would also add how it was a problem for him to tell said dog to bite his superior to which Asahi would say “I would never do such a thing… besides how could I do that if nobody around was my superior… main reason why I work alone. I would hate for some noble tadpole to think he is above me.” He knew very well of the rank differences between him and Kenja but he didn’t care about the knights or their social hierarchy, he only cared about their shared interest in justice. However even such shared interest was barely enough to keep him connected to the organization. Asahi would take notice of the spirit that would appear thinking to himself *Yeah that confirms it… He is truly the vice captain of the crimson lions…* He didn’t pay much attention to such mundane things normally but he had heard much about Hania in passing. [BREAK][BREAK] “If I hear you call this kid my superior again im gonna vomit guy. Yeah I told him filming for that show was over, if you want new seasons of that you should go find a new set of cast members because im not going for it. Telling me to shut up and listen is sheep talk, and im far from a sheep. Look I said what I said and I meant it… I wake up everyday I do my job and go home. I don’t bother anyone and I mind my business. If you have a problem with how I do things come back when the misdeeds aren’t against your family, maybe then it will seem less self centered. And more as if you truly do care about whatever public relations you spoke of,” [BREAK][BREAK] Asahi was truly not one for holding back his words and Hania had gotten him started on his worst behavior. The vice captain continued on but all the talking about the same things began to annoy him. Asahi would let out a heavy breathe before looking Hania dead in the face and saying “Look man. I don’t want you to keep wasting your life talking to me when I know just like im sure you know im not gonna listen. I dont respect Kenja as a superior, he could not lead me. And to answer your question I would not try that line with you. However I also would not expect you to ‘lead’ me I feel this way about everyone. I work alone for a reason, the recent chain of events just deemed it necessary for me to be with your cousin. That’s it that’s all. If you think im even bothered by this so called scolding you are sadly mistaken. In fact I could care less, and if this is all we were called here for I would like to just go home.” [BREAK][BREAK] After a long winded talking Hania would finally move onto the reason they were truly here, which had something to do with the church. There was some bishop who had gone rogue and used less than savory methods to gain eternal life, but he was struck down and dropped into this undercroft. Most likely something foul was at play here and now Asahi was interested and had reason for staying saying “Ah now we are talking boss man. Although I feel like there’s a catch to this?” Hearing Hania say how the place posed a threat to even someone as strong as him made Asahi say “Ah so that’s the catch huh…”

Sumire watched Hania be the first to come to her, acknowledging her existence and apologizes for having to take time out of her schedule. She nodded in acceptance "Thankyou but it was quiet alright. I was honestly quiet surprised by the request you sent to my father to have me come to a church of all places to repair my tarnished view upon the magic knights." She said with a smile "And while my schedule might be busy with your cousin's wardrobes, I can always make time for who requests it without fault." She added as she smiled "I am so glad she likes the wardrobe as I have greatly enjoyed making every single piece within the collection, I am honored she has taken a liking to our culture." She said with a smile.
[break][break] She and Shi were surprised at the sudden mood shift of the meeting from him being kind to being stern but calm. Most would have lost their top and get into other's faces. Hania was respectable and honorable. While some might see this scolding as harsh, she saw it was for development and growth. She has received much harsher ones from her father that were not the prettiest. She could tell he was irritated and annoyed with the display of them both. Did they step up in the dungeon? yes. She watched the scolding commence of Hania to Kenja's actions and then to Asahi's.
[break][break] "Asahi...You can't really be this way or truly feel the way you do. You are just proving the points correct and the assumption that my view on the magic knights?" she said having the look of disappointment on her face and in her voice. "No one is telling you to put up with the way it is. In a military standing, the lineage of one's blood means nothing on the battlefield or the choicing of life or death. It does not matter to me if one is a Ravencrest or one is born in a small shack from the farthest reaches of clover. If they have the power and the will to ensure no one has to bear the trauma and damage of the enemies coming to take their home and innocent lives, then that is someone I can run to in knowing I will be protected to see another day." She said gently " All I am hearing from you is ego and that in itself is a shame cause I have seen you fight, in the dungeon we all have meet in, you wished for me not to come along but then decided I would be safer going in with you and Kenja then possibly going in alone or with some other lot. You both worked so hard and well together, I honestly had a great time for what it was worth. I learned about you and some of your family history with you having younger siblings." She spoke remembering what happened in their first dungeon together. "Then the food like one. The entire tune of the dungeon hurt my ears with it's melody and with the out of tune harmony in our grouping because you and Kenja could not work together. I as a civilian am not trained to being on the battlefield, In truth, my family would love nothing more then me staying at the white lotus, working on my job, becoming a wife to better prospect my family and continue my lineage." She spoke gently shaking her head in disbelief.
[break][break] "Your actions there as well here is telling me, I am not safe with anyone of the black bull mantle. You may think your not going to follow another tune or dance but that is where you are wrong and in the wrong profession as you don't do things entirely alone as a magic knight. You have a squad of people from all walks of life to stand beside you in battle. I know socialites that I would rather run to for protection that have never stepped foot on a battlefield, but would keep me safe with their own magic and will regardless of my standing in this kingdom or any other. "She spoke in truth. She knew commoners that were strong. she knew servants of a rogue that was currently stalking her from the shadows that could hold their own. "And if I am being honest. my Escort Shi is a sell sword, she is a noble back home with skills beyond my own. She has accepted a request from my family to come to clover for my protection." She spoke as the older woman nodded in agreement.
[break][break] "That I have. Even as a sell sword back home, I know the pecking order and how I am viewed in the eyes of the world. You are speaking from a place of ego Young Magic knight. It is not my place to tell you how you are to act but I can say one thing. Your ego will burn every bridge to your own survival and bright future of your life, I do hope your ancestors and those who have passed you will have mercy on you and make your choices easier to swallow as I can say without a doubt. As you stand, your view is no better then that of a rogue throwing a tantrum because he got caught. If Hania was not here, I wouldn't leave her in the care of yourself. The younger Ravencrest has at least accepted he has messed up and is willing to learn. "Spoke the steel blue haired woman. Her cold steel grey eyes watched asahi.
[break][break] "It is time to put down that blade of an ego Asahi. This is an training exercise to help all of us grow. I know in the first dungeon you spoke of your honor and classifying yourself as a samurai. Samurai are loyal and know the hierarchy, they hold respect, honesty and righteousness. All you shown is courage to standing your ground but you refuse to accept criticism and view growth." She spoke gently feeling like she was hitting a brick wall much like the vermillion she was dealing with elsewhere.
[break][break] She turned her attention back to Hania listening to the report and the reason for being here. She wasn't one for crypts or dealing with the dead but it seemed even the church had its own issues. She took note Hania's rules and knowledge of this place being deadly even for him.
[break][break] "Shi, Will you be joining us today?" Asked Sumire
[break][break] "I will not as my assistance will not be needed nor was requested for a training exercise that is to further better your view upon the magic knights as a whole." She Said " Plus I am more then confident in Hania's abilities to keeping you safe, I will be out here with the carriage awaiting your swift return." She Spoke adjusting the umbrella as Sumire nodded "Alright." She spoke with a smile knowing it was all going to be good.
[attr="class","haniascroll"]The ice mage continued to walk towards the church only stopping as he heard his name being spoken, he didn't bother looking over his shoulder or turning around, he didn't have the time or patience in all honesty. "I wasn't being candid Kenja I was telling you your faults, it is as simple as that please don't waste my limited time by repeating them." he said his tone remaining neutral "As for your question..." he paused for a moment as he thought "There have been several dungeons in the past that have dealt with the dead, although I have not been through those. That being said I have been one that shows a glimpse into a specific moment in time." he said his tone not changing, he had been barely stronger than the three that he was currently with when he had gone through such an ordeal but he had been informative.
"Roles?" he paused for a moment "This isn't a game, you aren't given roles. I give orders, you follow those orders, if you believe there is a flaw in my logic tell me where it is and give me a suggestion as to what you would believe is a better solution." he said simply, he had no idea where he got the foolish ideas of 'roles' from. Hearing Asahi's brashness the ice mage could only let out a silent sigh, he hated people almost as much as he loathed himself and this reminded him why. "Asahi, regardless of if at first you didn't wish her there you did state it would be safer for her to be with you and Kenja rather than attempt to go inside the dungeons by herself or with another group. This means she was within your care for good or ill." it really wasn't that hard to understand.
He then gracefully turned and walked with authority towards Asahi his eyes sharp before stopping before him looking him directly in the eye. "Let me start off by correcting what you have just said Asahi." he said his voice hadn't changed and none of them would know him well enough to hear the undertones of irritation that showed he was over the god complex that Asahi was showing. "It isn't that I do not know you, it is I haven't met you." he began "As for who do I believe I am to think I know you, well let me fill in the blanks of that shall I?" he said his voice calm "Your name is Asahi Qadir. You possess the rare magic of sword. You are currently a member of the Black Bulls. Your current rank is intermediate fifth class. You were born in the kingdom of Spade in a family of travelling merchants..." it was clear he wasn't about to stop.
"Your parents and elder siblings were killed by a rogue organisation which you have my condolences after which you and your siblings were separated and sold off by that same organisation. You were lucky enough to find yourself within a church orphanage, over the years you've done vigilante justice and where it never got you into a lot of trouble people had taken notice." he finally stopped "Is that enough to prove to you that I do indeed know you and we can move on?" he would ask the other "And before you ask how I know all this information, I do due diligence for any person hoping to step foot on my families estate." he would clarify for him "I take the safety of my family and the civilians that also call my home theirs seriously, especially since my staff have children." It was clear he cared for those who served him.
"And you are indeed a sellsword. You are just selling your sword to the magic knights at current because in your own words, you have no real connection to the magic knights meaning you are only here for a paycheck and to save your own skin from getting into trouble, which by the way is a fallacy as magic knights have been arrested in the past for taking justice into their own hands." he said turning once more and walking back towards the church "You can return back to your squad base, you do not have the mindset for a task like this and I do not trust you not to be a liability for myself or the others in my care currently." he said truthfully "I care not for how you were as a civilian unless it became a problem in general that I was sent to stop, what I care for is how you conduct yourself as a magic knight." he said his voice once again neutral.
"If you wish to work alone you are in the wrong line of work, hang up your mantle and find a mercenary organisation. I do believe that might be better suited to a would-be Silva..." he would pause for a moment "Actually, for as much as I dislike the Silva they actually can work in a team well." he thought back to June and their dance of flowers and barbs. Ah, how he missed those days. "Like it or not Asahi you are in a military organisation which means there's a command structure. It doesn't matter if you are royalty or the dregs of society if you are in the magic knights you follow the chain of command." he would explain before sighing and looking at him. "Social status matters little in the magic knights as the military works on merit." he would continue.
"For example, as you know Kenja and I are lesser royals while your captain is a commoner." he would begin "If your captain was here with us and he gave an order I would follow it unless I could find a flaw in which case I would call it out and give a suggestion as to what would be a better course of action." he would inform him "There's a reason I do not introduce myself with my last name because I want to gain respect and acknowledgement as my own independent person and not because of the family name I was blessed with when I was adopted." he said calmly "You have potential Asahi but while you have that chip on your shoulder and only see a person's social status you will stagnate and not grow." he would say giving a friendly piece of advice, he could understand on a personal level how hard it was to trust but it was something that it was needed in their line of work.
"If you don't want me wasting my life on you then go away, I have better things to do with my time than waste it on someone who doesn't want to understand their faults and grow from it." he said his hand resting on the church door. "And that is too bad for you as 'that noble tadpole' as you called Kenja is higher in the chain of command as am I meaning we can claim to lead over you whether you like it or not." he would say feeling his headache growing "And it wasn't a scolding, it was an intervention before you and my clown of a cousin went and got yourselves or someone else killed and the fact you say you could care less shows you do care on some level even if it is minute." he said with a small smile, as he was facing the door none would see it.
He chuckled a little "Asahi, if I felt like this place was truly a threat to me personally I wouldn't have requested Sumire's presence here and I'd never place a civilian in danger that would be reckless and I am not known for such behaviours. I'd have gone to something deemed less dangerous. I chose this task for a specific reason and you will understand that reason soon... I hope." with that, he began to open the door but stopped closing it listening to Sumire and her guard. "Where better than a church to repair faith that is tarnished and broken than a church?" he would ask his voice warming a little. "I feel that soon enough she will find a style she will call her own until then I will create her wardrobe for her." he would say calmly.
"Sumire is correct, lineage doesn't matter in a military. I'm from the highly revered Ravencrest family and it didn't mean squat, I started at the bottom and had to work hard and prove myself to go up the ranks within the organisation." he said truthfully "In all honesty, I'm a reluctant vice-captain of my squad, I'm only holding the position until someone better comes along." he was being completely honest with his words, he disliked people and being a vice-captain was bothersome, then again so was being the head of a house but that was a completely different kettle of fish. "I was Kenja's age when I joined the magic knights and the first thing that happened after I received my grimoire was being given the choice to become a Crimson Lion or remain a civilian." he would divulge.
"It was a time of war and I could have sat very pretty and safe inside the noble courts battling with words, but, that didn't sit well with me. I took my mantle without a second thought and was sent to war that very same day." he explained "Have I ever regretted my decision? No. I believe it is my duty to protect those who can't defend themselves for whatever reason that might be even if it costs me my life." he was being earnest as he spoke "I'm not looking for honour, glory, fame or fortune... I just understand how it feels to be defenceless and not having anyone there to protect you but I also know and understand what it feels when someone takes a stand knowing it could truly affect them." he said softly.
He had been a child who was shunned by everyone for the longest time until someone took pity on him, it almost cost her her own position but she still protected him on multiple occasions and for that, he was truly thankful. "Sumire, there are some wonderful Black Bulls that you can indeed trust though they are a whimsical and eccentric lot." he would attempt to reassure her that Asahi wasn't the norm for his squad. It was then he turned his attention to Shi and bowed placing his left hand over his right "Bàoqiàn, shǐ, wǒ zhīqián méiyǒu zhùyì dào nǐ. Wǒ qǐngqiú nín yuánliàng wǒ de wú lǐ xíngwéi bìngqiě méiyǒu xiàng nín dǎzhāohū." he would say in their native tongue. He personally didn't view it as a rogue throwing a tantrum but the angst of an undisciplined teenager who was lashing out at the world for the perceived wrongs to them but either could work he guessed.
"I have no issue with people having egos... well I do but that's another issue completely, I mean I have to deal with it when I talk to other nobles at court." he couldn't help but roll his eyes at that "However, they have reasons to have that ego and can back that ego up most of the time if challenged. At current Asahi, you do come off as having the same sort of ego as a typical Silva, thus my comment earlier but you have little reason to have said ego and no means to back it if challenged." he would continue "Lashing out just proves that your ego is fragile and can be hurt quite easily meaning people will easily take advantage of it more so in a fight as they can get under your skin." he would say thoughtfully.
"I know I can have an ego but it only shows when required, I have a reason to have it and I can back it regardless of the situation it comes with experience and even when someone does irritate me, I tend not to show it, karma is a wonderfully funny thing when you have patience." he said with a smile. "As I said, you do have potential but you'll never reach it with that ego the way it is." he said not to mock him he honestly did believe that Asahi had a bright future if he could get over himself. It was then Sumire said something that caught Hania's attention and he looked at Asahi up and down studying everything for a moment "You aren't a true samurai, you are a westernised romanticised version of a samurai." he was being honest when he spoke on this matter.
"Their code is bushido which has seven virtues of which you show minute traces of." he said honestly. "The seven virtues are as follows Righteousness, this is the one that stands above all else as a true samurai will never attack an enemy without an important reason. the second most important is loyalty, a samurai is always loyal to his master, they believe that it is their duty to protect their master even if it means it ends their own life. Going by how you speak you hold loyalty to no one but yourself; so I'll ask you this, who is it you have sworn your oath to and would give your life to protect?" he would ask "The third virtue is honour a true samurai believes a life without this isn't truly a life, they also believe if they make a mistake that is too big to rectify they should honour their name and take their life." he would continue
"The fourth virtue is respect, they respect those who hold a higher position than themselves, they respect their opponents and even if they kill said opponent they show respect to their corpse. I already know you have done no such things due to the task at Raque you did with Kenja." he didn't go into further detail as it didn't need to be explained. "The fifth virtue is honesty, plain and simple a samurai doesn't lie, it just doesn't exist for them and I do believe you attempt to portray this just very poorly." he would say before continuing "The sixth virtue is courage a samurai will fight to the end, they aren't afraid of anything, especially death. They are always brave because they believe in something. I will ask you, what do you believe in and please don't say your warped sense of justice." he would ask.
"The seventh and final virtue is consistency, a true samurai never changes their path, like dragonflies they're always moving forward and never back." he would finally finish giving him the quick rundown of the code of bushido "Now I ask you Asahi, look within and be truthful with yourself, do you believe you are truly a samurai with how you currently are?" he would say he wasn't being condescended with his question or even when he was explaining the code that he should be living by if he claimed himself a samurai. "I know this code inside and out because I, myself live by it." he would say calmly "Before you ask, my master is Clover and I believe in making a future that is safer than the day before it for those who can't do it themselves." he would say allowing him to see a glimpse behind the veil that very few ever did.
His attention once again turned back to Shi, again his left hand going over his right as he bowed "Wǒ fāshì wǒ huì zài huánghūn zhīqián jiāng nǐ de nǚshì wánhǎo wúsǔn de hái gěi nǐ" he said his tone respectful as he spoke to Shi. With that done he looked at Asahi "It's your choice now, you can either return to the Black Bull headquarters and remain how you are, or you can come with us, respect the chain of command and grow not only as a magic knight but as a person. I am even willing to take time out of my already hectic schedule and mentor you so you can start getting to your true potential, if that is of interest to you, I will have a room at the estate made available to you and you will be treated as a guest. That room would be yours to decorate as you wish I just request you listen to the house rules."
It wasn't a normal thing for the inverted man to offer but if it helped him understand things then he was willing to be a teacher. "If you show strides in your growth, I'd even teach you my element as a reward." he offered, which in of itself was unusual as he had never offered such a thing even to other people who held the same magic as he did. With everything that needed to be said out of the way, he was truly hoping that they could start their task before he felt the need to kill someone.
[Floor 1, Room 1]
He opened the door to the church and entered without speaking another word to anyone, soon enough a youngish decon in his late twenties came walking to him. The man was six foot two inches tall, dull green eyes and a mostly bald head though he did have black hair at the back and looked as if he took great care of himself, his clothing was modest cotton in browns and greens. "Are... are you here to help?" the man would ask, Hania nodded "Yes, I have come to help with two of my juniors and a brave young civilian who wanted to help put whatever may be down there to rest." he was wanting to give them credit also. "Thank the spirits." he would say moving into his pocket to get a key 'Don't get an ego featherbrain, he wasn't thanking you.' he sent through their bond seeing Amostia puffing up a bit. 'I'm going to peck out your eyes when you're sleeping.' he sent back 'Like that will do anything to me, I'm a sensory mage.' he sent back without missing a beat with that Amostia clicked his beak a few times throwing in the towel.
The decon would hand Hania the key and point to a door at the other side of the church "I get a bad feeling whenever I get too close to it, but that is where you have to go. Please don't damage the caskets, disrupt the dead or loot the place." he would say his voice showed deep concern although he was stern with the rules. Hania bowed his head in respect "We will show the dead the respect deserved as we investigate worry not." he had already given these rules to the three he had with them so he hopefully didn't have anything to worry about but only time would tell. Hania moved to the door in the hopes that the others were close behind, he would wait until they were there together before placing the key in the lock and opening it. He would allow the others to pass him first before he himself would cross the threshold and lock the door behind him ensuring that nothing inside could escape.
"Sumire..." he would eventually say holding out the key "If at any point you fear for your life, run... do not look back." he instructed her "All I ask is that you lock the door when you pass the threshold so nothing would escape." This one action would show that he was putting her safety and well-being above his own, Kenja's or Asahi's. The area would get just slightly colder as Hania allowed his mana to feel around the room as if testing to see if there were any dangers, when he was sure the three with him wouldn't be attacked the temperature once more raised to be as it was. "I pinged the area to see if we should be worried about enemies, it seems as though we are safe at current. Look around and see if you can find the path we must take." he would say to them.
He, himself, already had found the break in the wall thanks to how high his sensory was, but he wanted to see if the three of them could in fact work in a team without issues arising. This meant putting them in situations where they would need to trust each other and ask for help. He understood doing it in a place like this was indeed a gamble, however, he also knew placing them in true danger was the best way to break through issues such as status because it would be the need to survive. He showed no signs of helping them with this task and he wouldn't at least for now.

As Hania's words continued to dissect Kenja's initial choice of words, the young magic knight remained outwardly composed. Deep down, he knew that he had been a bit careless with his terminology. The use of the word "roles" might have been an ill-fitting term, but Kenja had intended it more as a way to express what orders they'd be given. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but sense the lingering tension in Hania's demeanor. It seemed that anything he said or did would only intensify Hania's irritation with him. For now, Kenja chose the path of silence, understanding that it might be the wisest course of action than to correct the misunderstanding. He needed to be receptive to Hania's guidance and avoid any further missteps that could exacerbate the situation. Truth was that regardless of what was said Kenja appreciated the guidance from Hania. He knew that Hania was a seasoned magic knight with a wealth of experience, and he respected that, and Kenja was determined to learn from it.
The conversation then shifted its focus onto Asahi, whose responses continued to be marked by his trademark brashness and stubbornness. Kenja observed the exchange with keen interest. Hania's impressive knowledge about Asahi's background left Kenja somewhat in awe. As Hania extended his unexpected offer to Asahi, suggesting that he could reside in the prestigious Ravencrest estate and receive personal training, Kenja couldn't help but feel a jolt of surprise. His eyes slightly widened momentarily, and his usually composed demeanor faltered for a fraction of a second. It was an offer that held tremendous significance, not just within the context of their current conversation but in the larger scope of their world. The Ravencrest estate was a symbol of nobility, elegance, and a legacy that stretched back through generations. To be granted access to live there and receive mentorship from someone like Hania, was akin to winning a lottery in the world of magic knights. It was an opportunity that most could only dream of. Kenja's own sense of honor and ambition couldn't help but acknowledge the weight of Hania's offer. While he harbored no jealousy towards Asahi, he wondered what he himself could learn from direct training as well. It wasn't about social status or the privileges associated with nobility; it was about the potential for learning from someone as skilled and experienced as Hania. As he processed the implications, Kenja returned to his characteristic calm and stoic demeanor. He understood that Hania's offer had been extended to Asahi for specific reasons, likely as a means to help him grow and adapt to the culture of the Magic Knights. Kenja respected that decision.
Floor 1, Room 1:
Kenja entered behind and took a moment to observe their surroundings. The interior of the church was lit, and the scent of incense hung in the air, giving the place an ambiance. Once inside, the chill of the mausoleum enveloped him. Kenja's sharp, observant eyes scanned the chamber, taking in the rows of ornate caskets and the eerie silence that seemed to hang heavily in the air. He stepped forward, his boots echoing softly on the stone floor. As Kenja examined the chamber, he couldn't discern any obvious signs of hidden passages or doors. He processed the layout, but nothing stood out as an immediate path forward. Turning his gaze to Sumire and Asahi, Kenja took a moment to assess their capabilities. Sumire had displayed no magic that could map out locations, and Asahi, to his knowledge, possessed no such abilities either. Kenja addressed them in a calm and measured tone. "It appears there are no obvious paths or doors in this chamber," he began. "Given the nature of our mission and Hania's assurance of safety for the moment, our priority is Sumire's well-being. I suggest we work together to search systematically. Sumire, you should stay in the center, with Asahi and me flanking you. We'll search the walls, the floor, and around the caskets without disturbing them, looking for any hidden mechanisms or clues."He paused briefly, his eyes focused on Sumire. "Remember, Sumire, as was stated, your safety is paramount. If you feel threatened or uncomfortable at any point, do not hesitate to speak up. We are here to protect you." With that, Kenja led by example, beginning to inspect the nearest section of the wall for any irregularities, secret switches, or hidden passages. He hoped that by combining their efforts, they could uncover the path forward and navigate this unsettling place.
[attr="class","augusttext"] Many words were said, most of those words coming from the ice mage known as Hania. At first the words coming from him were aimed at his own cousin Kenja, but it would not take long for the neutral tone and razor sharp words made their way towards Asahi. The sword mage would listen and not reply at first, wanting to make sure he formulated a proper response. The first thing Hania would point out is Asahi’s words when it came to Sumire coming into the dungeons with them. While it was true Asahi did not want her to come along, he also believed it safer for her to be with them vs. by herself or someone less trained for the job. Hearing Hania speak on it all he could do was simply shrug his shoulders and sigh. [BREAK][BREAK] The next big thing Hania pointed out was that he did indeed know Asahi, he had just never met him. Hania would begin to lay out Asahi’s entire backstory on the table as if someone had been keeping a file on his entire life. Some things were pretty easy to find out if you cared enough, while others were things Asahi thought nobody knew. He was honestly at a lost for words, with it taking him several moments to be able to talk. “Where the hell did you find all that out from? Most of my official records have my origin listed as unknown or its redacted…” [BREAK][BREAK] The ice mage carried on by revealing the tragic story of his parents death to Kenja and Sumire. Although Sumire already knew, this would be news to Kenja and it was something Asahi rather him not know. “Well thanks for putting my business out in the street… That was yet another piece of information that very few are supposed to have… I would love to know your sources, as they are quite the worker.” Hania would then speak explaining exactly how Asahi was a sells word. He would say that Asahi has stated that he has no real connection to the magic knights, so therefore he was just selling his service. Asahi would grunt saying “That’s not fair to say but I guess I’ll give credit for the creativity in that reach. But Vice Captain I don’t think I’ll be going back to base… not gonna lie im actually excited by the idea of going into another dungeon.” [BREAK][BREAK] Hania would then begin to go on a rant hitting many different points during his prolonged speech, with the main idea being that Asahi had to get his attitude and lack of respect for authority in check. The man would make his way to the church door where he would stand there for a bit, as he would carry on talking. One thing would stand out though as Hania would say that he was not trying to scold Asahi but rather intervene before he or Kenja allowed someone or themselves to die from foolishness. It was at this moment that Asahi would find just a bit of comfort inside of Hania, partially because it reminded him of something his older brother would say. [BREAK][BREAK] Moving back on to the topic of the dungeon Hania would inform Asahi that this place proved little to no threat to him, but he chose to bring them all here for a very specific reason. This place along with everything that had been said were most definitely a test of sorts, surely aimed at Kenja and Asahi. The black bull knight would let out a sigh as Hania would begin to open the door but stop. As he would begin to speak more but this time talking about how social standing meant nothing to the magic knights. Asahi thought to interject and say more but at this point he had gotten comfy with the idea of just listening to the powerful knight. It seemed a lot easier to ignore his noble status than it was Kenja’s, possibly because he was not a born noble or just the fact he did not let it heavily dictate his personality the way Asahi felt Kenja did a lot. [BREAK][BREAK] It would be soon when Asahi would have no choice but to speak when Hania would begin to speak on what Asahi was raised to be, and that was a samurai. "You aren't a true samurai, you are a westernised romanticised version of a samurai.” The vice captain would say. Which would cause Asahi’s face to go red with frustration and embarrassment, as he was just a little lost for words at this point. Hania would then go on to speak of the samurai code known as bushido, something Asahi learned from his father as a kid. Hania would begin to list the seven virtues of a samurai; righteousness was the first he would speak on. Then he would move on to loyalty, where he would ask Asahi who is it that he has sworn his loyalty to because it seemed he only had it for himself. Asahi would say “You are right I have no master. But then again I’ve lived my life in solitude, so how would I have a master?” [BREAK][BREAK] The vice captain would keep going on listing off the other virtues while also explaining how he did not see Asahi fit those things. He would call him out more and more, tearing down how the black bull saw himself. However Asahi would agree with him simply saying “You are right. I have no lord or master, and I only follow the code of bushido loosely. But one thing I know is that I am a samurai, born to the royal guard of my homeland. So to answer you yes I am a true samurai, I however am not the perfect example.” Hania would then say that he knows the code inside and out because he himself lives by it. Living by the code didn’t mean that one was truly a samurai, but Hania would quickly say how his master was clover and he believed in making a safer future. [BREAK][BREAK] Hania would then present Asahi with a choice he could either return to his squad base and stay as he is, or he could come with them and grow as a person. The vice captain would even offer to mentor the black bull and offer him a room within the Ravencrest estate to strengthen said mentorship. Asahi’s jaw would slight drop as he was slightly taken back by the idea of what was going on. But his jaw would completely hit the ground when Hania said if he showed progress he would even teach Asahi his magical element as a reward. “Ok you can stop talking im sold…. So what’s the plan for this?” [BREAK][BREAK] Floor 1, Room 1 [BREAK][BREAK] Asahi had asked what the plan was but Hania would say nothing else, but he would instead simply open the door to the church and move behind him. He would listen to the short exchange between the deacon and Hania, before Hania would end up with a key to open the crypt down below. Hania would give the key to Sumire stating that if she feared for her life to leave them and lock the door behind herself. Asahi knew that meant possibly dying locked down below but he did not even flinch at the idea. [BREAK][BREAK] After hearing Hania say that he had pinged the area to check for enemies Asahi would ask Hania “So how should we proceed exactly? Do you have a premeditated plan? Or did you simply intend to watch us work things out and only help if its truly needed?”
“ I have no worries and faith in your abilities” Spoke Shi bowing in tradition as well to him as Sumire watched the exchange as she felt like she needed to hide from Hania’s lectoring. It was stern and harsh but every word was not meant to tore his target down, Each word was for acknowledgment of the situation and stating the wrong that was done.
[break][break] “I will be out here.” Sumire heard Shi speak as she moved back to the carriage as Sumire nodded. She felt odd having a swordswoman for a guard or even a needed escort over a common servant. Maybe her father knew more then he let on, that was what she was going to chalk the reason for Shi’s employment. She turned her attention back to the task at hand listening to hania speak to asahi of an offer to train him in both the ways of a samurai and even offering to let asahi learn his element. She was happy to see asahi let himself accept the offer as she followed them inside.
[break][break] Floor 1 Room 1:
[break][break] She had not been in any of the churches in clover. She has never really felt much need for visiting. She didn’t see the spirits as gods for she couldn’t think of why any god would submit their will to being some mortal’s partner. She respected those who had spirits and even believed in Undine herself. She smiled nodding to the Decon when hania acknowledged her coming with them into the crypts as she continued following. She remained near Hania moving down to the crypt watching him lock the door before turning to her holding out the key.
[break][break] She listened to his next sentence as she accepted the Key looking at it. She was sure they were going to be fine, there was not anything to worry about as Hania was the one in charge and knew how to deal with enemies on the battlefield “Alright.”She Spoke placing the key away in her hanfu as she followed after them to the next room. She could feel the chill of the crypt on her bare legs as she folded her hands in her sleeves before making a mental note of feeling hania’s mana pulse through the room, checking for any hidden enemies.
[break][break] She walked forward, keeping near the group before closing her eyes lifting her hand up, cupping them over her ears toning out any speech and human acknowledgement from her train of thought listening the subtle sounds of the crypt. She could feel the chill tracing it back mentally listening to the smallest movements of animals like rats moving pebbles on their runs as she opened her eyes moving to a seemingly normal wall placing her finger tips against it’s cold bricks. “ It’s here, the difference is here, its hollow.”She spoke pulsing her mana softly through her tips confirming her suspicion
