[PTab=GENERAL INFO]
| [attr="class","gentextred"] [attr="class","characterappheader"]Appearance [break]
Caius presents a striking figure, his height accentuated by a posture that suggests both confidence and a lurking restlessness. His hair, an untamed cascade of light brown that shifts into shades of burnt red and orange under different lights, frames a face marked by a curious juxtaposition: a mischievous grin that often plays on his lips, belying the profound sorrow and distance in his melancholic blue eyes-eyes that mirror the tumultuous depths of deluge that he commands with his magic. His choice of clothing during the day is more casual and seems to be a combination of more common threads and some more fine materials, usually of a darker or neutral color. During criminal activity, he does an inverse, to stand out more and to advertise that he is making his own mark and that he won't simply just scare people and make them feel less safe, he'll do it with some style. [attr="class","characterappheader"]Personality Caius navigates the world between two personas: to most, he's the quintessential rogue, charming and audacious, a master of reading and setting the mood of any room he enters. This facade of confidence and approachability belies the turmoil churning within him. Beneath the easy smiles and effortless swagger lies a man plagued by self-doubt and a deep-seated skepticism of others' intentions, mirroring his own contradictions. Haunted by the loss that ravaged his inner world, Caius is acutely aware of the dangerous game he plays—a game he's determined to continue, not with the hope of victory, but simply to be the last one standing. In combat, his pragmatism shines through; he's ruthless, yet his strategy is tinged with an emotional depth that can sometimes sway his decisions more than cold logic. Despite his facade of detachment, Caius possesses an undeniable protective streak. He finds himself drawn to those he senses need him, acting as their guardian in a world he knows all too well is unforgiving. This impulse towards kindness, a remnant of the person he once was, conflicts with his belief in his damnation. In these moments of unasked-for guardianship, Caius seeks redemption, even as he feels undeserving of it. Burdened by self-loathing and a distrust of the shadows that have infiltrated his life, Caius carries more than his share, always the one to shoulder burdens meant for others. Yet, in this labyrinth of inner conflict and outward defiance, the actual depth of his character lies. Caius is a man fighting a battle against the darkness within and the darkness of the world, searching for a light he's not sure exists—for him or anyone else. [attr="class","characterappheader"]History Caius, like many, emerge from humble beginnings during one spring. He and his older twin sister, Eliana, were born and full of life and spirit. Sadly, this was at the cost of their mother, who lost her life shortly after. Their father, a simple artisan, was then wracked with the depression of losing his love and now having to support two growing children. For the better part of a problematic fifteen years, he was able to provide for them and still be a parent, if a bit strict, and did not want them to get too involved with the more troublemaking children. Caius, tired of always following his father's instructions to the letter and only getting the notion that it was always expected of him to do only that, decided to test the waters. He'd sneak out at night and fool around with some of the local kids, and while they were rough around the edges and more flippant than he was expecting, he grew to like this new environment he'd found himself in. These nightly rendezvous' would nag on Eliana's nerves, both for wanting a piece of freedom herself and wanting to keep her brother from getting into trouble. It came to a head when Caius was careless, which cost him everything. He had recently gotten his grimoire and wanted to show off to the other kids. Eliana, who also wanted to show off her own skills with her grimoire, also decided to sneak out. Along the way, however, the group had all stumbled upon something they shouldn't have. A lone young man was flanked and surrounded by several others wearing dark clothing and head coverings. They started chanting, and the man began to scream for help as he was bound by some spell. Eliana, who had finally caught up to Caius and the others, quickly ran into action to save this man, flinging a lightning bolt of her own towards the group. Caius quickly jumps in to help and keep them away from his sister when it is shown that her spells would be ineffective. While the other troublemakers ran off, Caius was surrounded and was beaten within an inch of his life. He could only see one final image before he slipped into unconsciousness, the sight of Eliana, who was running towards him and yelling his name. A scream, more bloodcurdling than the previous, was what finally woke him up. He was home, in bed, and in pain. His father was there, scolding and interrogating him on where his sister could be. Hours would pass before there was a commotion out in the town. Pushing through the pain for now, Caius and his father ran out to find the mangled and broken body of Eliana. She was gone, just like that. And it was his own fault. He had blacked out after that. After the immediate shock and grief had passed, Caius's father drank himself into a spiral, eventually wandering out of his home one night to never return. He had been mumbling about a "blank slate." Caius was left to grieve on his own. Several times, he felt like taking his own life, yet stopping out of cowardice. Caius instead decided something else. He would find these men, these monsters that had taken his sister from him. And he'd erase them from the world. He only decides to do it in the way he thinks is the most effective way: playing their game. |

As flexible and dynamic water is, Caius seems to have honed its edge for a more different profession. Being something of an accomplished fighter and decent with his control, he often uses his physical reinforcement in order to zip around the battlefield and aggravate his opponents before striking at the critical moment with his attack creation. He isn't one to put on shows in combat, only seeking the best path to victory and reaching towards it.
