Three arch-daemons had done a strategic well coordinated attack on three separate areas within the Clover Kingdom. The attack on the Royal Capital was the first to be quashed by magic knights and civilians alike. It didn't take a genius to realise attacking a place that had two well renowned magic knight squads as well as where the wizard king resided was going to be a bad idea, still, they had balls to attempt it. The shadow archdaemon shook his head as the saying go big or go home normally came to mind but in his mind it had always been a case that their eyes had been to big for their stomach and so his brother had paid the price for his foolish pride with his life. The second attack that was pushed back was Raque, his sister attempted to use trickery in the attempts to destroy the knights and civilians from within but her foolishness was that she had played the victim first hand without understanding the mind of mortals or how they usually reacted to such traumas or threats, so they had slowly become suspicious and it had came to be her ultimate downfall, however, the damage had been done as Raque was still dealing with almost becoming a second atlantis thanks to most of the town being submerged in water. The third and final place that had been attacked was the one shadow archdaemon himself now resided within, the town of Kikka, the only one that had successfully fallen under daemon control and that added to his own pride and ego. All three places had magic knight squads base of operations located within them so it wasn't that he had an advantage in that regard. No, it was plain and simple unlike the other two he had played the long game from afar using his strengths to make his enemy become the villain. He was playing four dimensional chess when they were still playing tic-tac-toe. He had made them attack children, had their leader make a deal with him which as she hadn't been clear with the counter he had several loopholes he could take advantage of, had them help torture another, blow up areas within the town, burn buildings, attack corpses and at the end of the day it was all for nothing... the town had still fallen...
After a few long and hard day's they finally decided to wise up and split up but it took an ultimatum to make them do so. He had given them a single day to destroy his wells and the three of them or he was going to blow up Kikka because he was getting bored. In the end they had manage only to destroy a single well creating a crater that would be perfect for a swimming pool or a pond to made from in the time it had taken him to dispose of the vice-captain that had stood against him. He hadn't caught her name and at the end of the day he was glad. It was true she had given him a good fight but at the same time she was still weak and hadn't managed to make him really break out in a sweat. Once this fight had been over he notified his children to tell the people whom they would likely be facing the news and gave them orders to give them safe passage from Kikka so opponents worth their time would come. Ito had been sat at the well when he had been given the news having a conversation with Genesis, Hans and Seren. He got his answers, a compliment on his footwear oddly enough and asked the question on how he could be killed. The answer from the red-headed assassin was meet with a sass that made his point very clear, she wasn't the only one in existence fighting for survival and so should quit with the pity party. Charles and Valo had came across Ito's twin sister within the quiet eeriness of the Purple Orca's headquarters and had asked them to leave as, as it stood they would be no match for her and after a few moments they had agreed. She promised to stay within the headquarters for their return and even that she would deactivate her traps allowing them safer passage though she did admit she couldn't say anything about her brother doing the same. She had intended to keep her promise but had appeared not to long after they approached the first well they were to destroy before returning to her if not going to the fifth well. They had been in the mists of battle but her approach caused the mana beasts to back away almost like obedient pets. She had notified them of the goings on and allowed them to leave without another word.
Sven had marked Artemis's wrist the moment the deal had been approved and his bracelet placed upon her wrist, it was something that would never be able to be removed regardless of how strong the cleansing spell she may try. She had made a deal with a daemon and that leaves a mark on a person in all senses of the meaning. Unlike the others who had been given safe passage to the outskirts of Kikka, Sven had thrown the body of the vice-captain through a portal right in front of the Wizard King with a short note.
The note reads:
I found myself in the mists of a daemon invasion. I found other knights and attempted to take control of the situation by the time I found the group that would help me they had attacked six children and one other civilian. We rushed the children to the hospital where I made a deal with the daemon in question, I didn't word what I wanted well within our negotiations and so there were many loopholes that could clearly be taken advantage of. Still I fought against this evil with everything I had but it wasn't enough, the town of Kikka still fell. The daemon leader took pity on me and let me live with my shame while those who were helping in the defence of the city had been allowed safe passage from the city.
Sven had indeed wrote it as if it had been Artemis herself that had written the note. He had made sure to let it be known what had happened and given context to the deal that had been struck and so the marking now on her left wrist, this was what his honour called for after all. Also he was actually quite surprised that the vice-captain had indeed accepted his deal as far as he knew most if not all magic knights would never do such a heinous act unless it could save the kingdom as a whole not just over six children so he was quite interested to find out the aftermath of that. He believed that perhaps one of the next group of toy soldiers that would enter Kikka would be able to answer that question for him, after all he hadn't killed the woman which was unusual in itself but what was the point of killing someone who has been knocked out? They were a warrior and so deserved a warrior's death in his mind and that wasn't being killed while lying on the floor unconscious while bleeding out.
Time had went by and the original group had given their reports to their captains and the Wizard King himself, letting them all know what they had been through and what they had experienced. Days changed to weeks and weeks to months, all the while Sven and his children kept control of Kikka while battle plans and a request for help was given to all those who would listen. The current Wizard King, Jagen Lavender himself had requested volunteers to help free Kikka from the darkness from which it now it found itself under. He told all potential applicants that it would be dangerous and there was a real threat to their psyche and lives, soon fourteen individuals three of which who had been in Kikka when this originally happened had been selected and a plan of attack written up.
Story:
Half a year has passed since Kikka fell under Sven's influence and finally volunteers have been picked on their skills, merit and potential and the plan of action given to them. They are to be split into two teams of seven, the first team would be dealing with the arch-daemon himself while group two would be dealing with his offspring and both teams would need to destroy two of the four remaining wells each. Jagen Lavender has also warned that in the last two months while they had been getting the strategy together the enemy was likely growing stronger, had changed locations of wells and had been taking precautions for something like this to happen. He also warned to take precautions when it came to illusions and to not trust your senses completely as it would be unclear right off the bat whether it was the real thing or not. As you get closer to Kikka it is starting to get noticeably darker, Sven has been expanding at a steady rate past the city limits but there has been no reports of attacks happening or this actually happening. This either means there have been no villages or settlements near by or there have been and they've either been killed or been assimilated into Sven's servitude. As you get to the city limits you easily notice your sight is now halved, if you use darkness/void/shadow elements your eyesight is only reduced by 25% due to your natural affinity to your element and the understanding of how it works due to training with it. The north gate is wide open as if Sven was expecting you on this day and welcoming you into the town for a new game.
GM Notes:
- Where this is a death enabled thread I will not be going out my way to kill characters, the only way this will happen is if silly actions take place on the players side.
- Actions have consequences not only for you but potentially whatever organisation you belong to so think before acting.
- Each round will generally last 3 - 4 days, extensions can be requested but they must come a little in advance and with a decent reason or they will be denied.
- You are not locked in to anything until your first post within your thread.
- The event will run on three strikes in regards to skipping rounds. First time will be a verbal warning and perhaps a trap being set off, second time I am taking something from you and will set a trap off, third time you will either be removed or killed depending on the reasons for the skips.
- Withdrawing once the event is in full swing without a decent reason will result in your character dying, with a good reason you will be fine and have reduced rewards at the end.
- Any nerfing or buffing of stats/abilities via spell/item etc are not permanent unless otherwise stated and will end at the end of the thread.

[attr="class","vaileshadowsscroll"] It was as bad as he expected. Perhaps worse. [break][break] The entire town was overtaken by a layer of shadow, and even for one of his affinity, there was something far more sinister at play. Taking up such a dangerous call to action wasn’t the usual for non-affiliated mages such as himself. Ironic, since knights were supposed to be the ones to take care of such disasters. Maybe they were that desperate, maybe they stretched far too thin since the invasion here and at Raque. Magic Knights did not like to show weakness, but how could they when they were up against an enemy they barely knew? [break][break] Vaile positioned himself away from the group he’d been given, feet crunching on autumn leaves below. He took a deep breath, carefully reaching out for the mana that surrounded the shadowed town. Keeping a neutral face, he hid his silent distress. Verena was not there. Or at least, she wasn’t with him. She had to have been somewhere else. He kept his senses up, searching for that faint familiar mana of the summoner, but it was as if something was blocking him in those shadows. Had she already been swallowed up? [break][break] The man made sure to minimize his own mana pressure and presence. No reason to show his own cards when he didn’t intend on playing too much. Perhaps he was surprised by the number of seemingly civilians who had joined up the fight. Two others besides himself wore no allegiances to the Kingdom’s brigades, and the red-head, he recognized. [break][break] A woman of shadows herself, it seemed as if it really was a popular magic these days. Seeing her again was a grand coincidence, but he had little interest in why she was there. If he could recall, she was simply another one who had their own morals, their own way. She was probably doing it for the money. [break][break] There was a green cloaked Mantis, and then two of the Golden Dawn. His cousin’s squadron likely played a bigger role here. Capable, competent, it was all he needed to know about them. It was all he cared to know. [break][break] And finally, likely a leader of this expedition, was a Knight Captain of note himself. Jett King, leader of the Orcas, his father’s old comrades, and even the original squad of their current Wizard King. The Diamond mage needed little introduction. Vaile had some curiosity about him. Jett had experience with his family. He fought side by side with his sister, and so he wondered if the man would recognize him as her brother. It would all be moot point after all, they shared the magic, even the same spells, if Vaile decided he wanted to reveal himself so casually. [break][break] But, he was not there to save the world or destroy the daemons. He just wanted to make sure some kid didn’t end up dead. He wouldn’t take that responsibility. It would not be his fault. [break][break]
“Scary isn’t it?”
[break] His ghost stood beside him. Her silver hair was caught up in the autumn breeze, the pale color itself seemed to glow as the darkness surrounded them. He looked ahead again, at the pure void of black that was such a blight on the landscape. The hellspawn of that other reality were really intent on destroying this one. He’d avoided confronting the idea for a bit too long, seeing it now unsettled him more than he would have liked. They were heading to what would have been the entrance to this town, but instead, the road only led a fog of night with an ominous aura. It was silent, utterly surreal. These shadows did not sit well with the shadow mage himself. [break][break] “You can call me Valentine. My affinity is Shadow Magic.” [break][break] It was the only name he would have given the group before their journey had begun, whether such a name meant anything to anyone else, was up to them. It was a basic introduction, limited to what was most necessary for the moment. Knights could look out for knights and others if they wanted. [break][break] He just needed to look out for himself.
It was a sad sight, painful to even look at for many reasons. Kikka was his home, his responsibility and many knew that, and even more knew that he had failed. The Orca captain came up with excuses for his lapse, not being fully conscious when it happened due to the shattering, perhaps many would even forgive Jett for that. Not himself though, all he could do was lament his own weakness, while all other portions of the kingdom stood strong and fought off the Deamon’s, the shield of Clover crumbled.
The darkness that filled the street’s he was once familiar with was almost poetic in the way it mirrored the darkness he felt in his heart but he wasn’t about to give up. Under the guidance of his mentor’s orders, Jett and a small group of magic knights and, particularly, strong civilians had planned an assault on the market town to take it back from the deamons.
The purple haired mage stepped up to the threshold of the town, stepping ahead of the group that had gathered. The diamond mage noticed a couple of their faces, while a few others eluded his knowledge but his trust in Jagen ensured he wouldn’t question their capability. There was one familiar face standing off from the group, but not the usual type of familiar dace that meant someone you were already acquainted with. No, in this case it was literally the face that was familiar, a face Jett hadn’t seen in a long time and one he hadn’t expected to see again. The diamond wizard only paid the man a passing glance, dismissing the similarities as nothing more than the abundance of Blakes running around and strong genes.
“Jett King, Purple Orca captain.” Jett spoke up in reply to the Blakes introduction, he didn’t bother adding on his own affinity as it seemed a little pointless in his eyes. Despite the short introduction, Jett’s natural aura that came from being a captain exuded outward giving those he arrived with a small boost in moral. The captain’s grimoire would lift out from the pouch on his waist and float gently in from of him as he prepared himself for whatever it was they would be soon to face, unsheathing Caliburn with his right hand.

Whether or not this is true is mostly a matter of opinion but it’s hard to argue that this is all just one big coincidence. The sword itself is made of diamond and some unknown alloy taking the shape of a regular sword, one metre in length, but its outward appearance is very deceiving as the blade extends and breaks into segmented pieces held together by the diamond chain that runs down the centre of the blade and forms the tip of the blade. This give the blade an extra reach of 3 metres and unpredictable movements as it can switch between functioning as a regular sword and moving more reminiscent to a whip. Full appearance link

Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
Two months.
Two long months.
Has it really been that long? Or that short? Time has been flown by so fast, it felt only like a week or so. Yet, here she was, going back towards the darkened town like she had never left. The shadow mage had not been idle during this time. After coming in terms with their loss and her own character development, she was coming back stronger, but not without acknowledging her own weaknesses first.
Genesis had done her own series of self-therapy after the initial incident. Of course, she poured all that pent-up energy into furthering her training, be it in physical or magical finesse. She had also been strengthening her connection with her dragon golem, spending time learning how to attack and fight with it. Though the communication was far from perfect, she could now fight comfortably while on its back, both with its assets and her own honed skills. There was also something different.
Alongside of her were two of the mages she had originally met when the daemons first took over the town. After some time dealing with their own post traumatic stress syndromes, the redhead had visited the Green Mantis base for more formal and intensive training. During that time, she stayed in Hage, and grew to rather like the quaint little town. It helped that it was located on the edge of the Forsaken Region, and there were plenty of places for the assassin to retreat and meditate.
It was strange how she had made the two individuals’ acquaintances long before Kikka, and how fate decided to throw them in for a second round. As if the first time was not damaging enough. Only a misguided fool or crazed luniac would walk back in—she was probably both. Yet, she had things to atone for, things she needed to finish. The perfectionist in her would not leave a job unfinished or halfway done. In addition, she knew that this time, there will be even more serious repercussions on her actions. Hence, she had also done mental preparations for it. At least she had a better sense of what to expect this time around.
As the trio walked back into Kikka, the shadow mage could feel the familiar musk and taint of daemonic mana. For some reason, once she entered the shadowy domain, her eyesight was not as affected as she remembered. She raised an eyebrow at her two companions, wondering if they felt any difference. Has their training really paid off? Though she doubted that they were the strongest mages, experience would carry them far this time around. Experience, and their mental preparations.
There seemed to be a group huddled up ahead, and she made her way towards them. Wonders of wonders, she felt two familiar mana signatures from up ahead, excluding the two besides her. One brought to mind a familiar shadow, unwittingly powerful yet mysterious in his anonymity. Ah, right, that male model she met in Silva. Vincint, was it? She wondered if he had continued in his ‘goodness’ after their brief job together. What was he doing here? Was he also drawn to the daemonic shadows like herself? Then she heard his brief introduction, and he gave a different name. Valentine? Well, they all had their own secrets, so Genesis shrugged off her confusion. A name was, after all, only a mere title for ease of communication.
The second mana signature was that of golden heat, silver hair and quiet melancholy. She had not expected to meet the Golden Dawn knight here. Upon first meeting him, the lava mage was still trying to find and reconnect with his mother. Had he found his answers? Regardless, after seeing his insistent searching spirit, she had been prompted to find her own lineage. They had met again in the capital, and he had shown her around the unfamiliar city. She was grateful for that.
To those two men, the red-haired femme gave curt nods of acknowledgement. What a balance of cold and heat. There were two others in the group that she did not know. A pretty female Magic Knight, who also seemed to be in the same Golden Dawn squad as Vulkan. They must know each other, seeing as they were in the same group. That would give Genesis a reason to trust her, if the situation came to that. A mutual acquaintance was better than a complete stranger, after all.
There was also the Purple Orca, whom she sensed an overwhelming flow of power. Then he introduced himself, and it all made sense. So this was one of the Magic Knight captains. She had heard of the powerful diamond user, though only the general facts that ran around city chatter. If she had thought the blond water mage was powerful, she could only imagine what kind of power the squad captains possessed. A small part of her looked forward to seeing what he could do. But most of all, could he lead them? He seemed more than capable, and though she did not know, the shadow mage felt the effects of his morale-boosting aura. She was a little surprised to see that his grimoire was already out and ready to be used.
Yet, it did not completely erase the tinge of despair and fear in the air. It seemed like sorrow surrounded them all. Correction, no, the entire town was bathed in its stifling oppression. To think that there were townfolks who continued staying in this living nightmare throughout all this time… But hopefully not for long.
Since it seemed like they were giving their own little introductions, the redhead cocked her head and gave hers. “Gen.” Short, sweet, and simple. There was nothing else they would really need to know, besides that her element was also shadows. She belonged to no group or squad, nor was she somebody of renown. She had no reason to come back, she was just a passing citizen who happened to be caught up in it all. But now, all she wanted was to properly finish this.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
The town of Kikka....shrouded in shadow. It was how he last remembered it.
Months have passed since the daemons had successfully taken over this town and drove out the forces that were trying to stop them. One of them being Hans. But now, the dark mage found himself going back after much thinking, trauma, talking and of course training. There was fire in his eyes which burnt far more fierce than it did originally. His first time in Kikka was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but now this was all intentional. The man walked down the path leading towards the town entrance.
But he wasn't alone...
Two other mages were walking alongside him as well, Valo of the Green Mantises, and the shadow mage, Genesis. Both of them were also there when the daemon's first attacked, and for their own reasons they decided to return to this hellhole as well to settle the score. Prior to this, the three mages went through a series of serious training together in the Green Mantis base at Hage. Hans was already no stranger to the town since he mainly resides in the Forsaken Region, but spending his time in that base was an experience he wouldn't forget.
Through that, he had met some interesting knights there...and one rather aggressive dwarf. Hans learned a lot more about Magic Knights than he has before, understanding them a lot better. He had also gotten a bit more familiar with Valo and Genesis' fighting styles and hopefully they were able to learn more about his.
It was now time for them to put their training to use.
As they got closer to Kikka it started to grow dark, the daemon's influence starting to spread a bit from the town. This wasn't a good sign at all....
Another thing the mercenary took notice of was his vision beginning to decrease again...but it didn't feel as strong. Perhaps he was just misremembering how potent the darkness was, but he didn't dwell on that for too long. His eyes then fell on the group of mages that were already there. Two of them appeared to be Golden Dawn Mages. Hans has teamed up with members of that squad more than once, but neither of those two look familiar to him. Then there appeared to be a mage not baring a mantle. Hans furrowed his brows at a bit at the silver haired mage. His mana, there was some similarities to it with Gen's....but that wasn't all. There was also faint traces of...no...no that wouldn't make any sense. Hans shifted his attention away from that guy, trying to stay focus.
The dark mage's eyes were now on the Purple Orca Mage. Upon getting closer, Hans was beginning to realize that this wasn't an ordinary Magic Knight...It's one of the captains, Jett he believe his name is. He was probably going to be the one in charge of this group given his status.
"Hans." the merc would say, introducing himself to the others. The man would then reach his hand over his back and unsheathe his dark greatsword, Raven's Grasp. It was vastly different from his katana, and holds magical properties. He then dug a part of the large sword into the ground in front of him and held onto the handle with both hands. He looked up quietly at the seemingly never ending darkness before lowering his head slightly, eyes closed. Hans wasn't much for saying prayers...but his mother was. "Watch over me, Mother." he would mutter to himself just as his cosmic relic in the form of a necklace would begin to faintly glow around his neck. Opening his eyes slightly, a small smile would form on his lips. "And you too...Suna."
With that, Hans took a deep breath rose his greatsword up with one hand and gently placed it behind his head and on his shoulder.
With his four leafed grimoire now floating to his side, the man's small smile faded, replaced by a look of determination as a dark aura coated him. He was now ready...

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
It was time to return home.
Valo Stark awaited this day for quite sometime, ever since the day he was forced out he thought of little to nothing else about the day he would come back. The past few months have been perhaps the hardest months Valo has ever had to deal with. From what was supposed to be a casual visit to his mother's home, turned into a horrifying and stressful time trying desperately to save his home from literal darkness. And it couldn't have ended any worse. They lost. Simple and plain they lost and they failed, at first that rather hard to accept for the Green Mantis knight. But these past few months helped with that, the first few weeks was a blazing anger he had for everything he had lost. The weeks after that his heart full of desperation and sorrow. But the weeks after that he started to heal, recover, regain, and get better for the time he would come back.
And he wasn't alone.
What really helped with his overall recovery, was the training he did with Genesis and Hans. The two mages walked right beside him as they came from Hage the Green Mantis squad base. The three mages spent quite some time together training and preparing for this very day. Valo already knew Genesis pretty well, she was an acquaintance at first then an ally. Now after these months Genesis has become one of, if not his most trusted ally and friend. Hans and Valo may have started off on the wrong foot during the last time in Kikka, but Valo getting to know the kind of man he is has put that way behind him. So much to say that he would trust Hans to the very end. The months they spent together they got to know how their abilities and spells worked, their strengths and weaknesses and how they could cover each other and work together.
Valo himself wanted to come back much much stronger than before, and for the most part he succeeded. He knew and felt more powerful than the first time, while still far from being one of the strongest wizards in clover he was well on his way. The first run in Kikka he just became an intermediate ranked knight, now seasoned senior knight for the Green Mantis. Some believing he was next in line to become the next Green Mantis vice captain, but Valo's mindset was focuses on different things like Kikka. He carried his trusted weapon Hinokagutsuchi in his left hand while leaving the top half to rest on his shoulder. He was absent of his weapon before a mistake he would never make again.
Just as planned this group heading into Kikka was larger, and the most useful benefit was they were going in already knowing what to expect. They wouldn't be caught off guard like before, the task was clear go in destroy the wells and then the servants. Another team consisting of even more powerful knights would take the fight straight to Sven. Valo shifted his eyes to this new group heading into Kikka, he didn't know any of them. He did know of Jett the purple orca captain, but never got the chance to meet him. The shield of clover was an immensely powerful mage, having him on their side would be great but Valo already lost his vice captain to this madness. He didn't lack faith in them winning, but he knew victory would not come easy.
Truth be told Valo had no interest in sharing his name, he could careless for what anyone wanted to call him. But these past experiences taught him a lot one of them being the importance of working together. In order to finish this job he would need to work with them, and that could only start with a name. "Valo." he said simply he wanted to leave it there and say no more, but his pride didn't let him just not continue. "Green Mantis Magic Knight." though he didn't have Artemis with him anymore, his pride as a member of Green Mantis never wavered not once. He was loyal to his squad through and through. His eyes turned back towards the entrance, he was ready to finish this.
[attr="class","textie"]Vulkan felt a sense of familiarity with this sensation, going to a place where your life hung in the balance brought him back to the Diamond invasion so long ago, when he had stood against Samson, and his Lieutenants with comrades. Zaven was with him that time, and it allowed him to feel secure. However this time his Brother was fighting his own battle with others, and they were separated, it made him uneasy. But this was a battlefield first, and foremost, though it was not one that was suited for his abilities. Vulkan's magic did not necessarily play well with others, at least not his strongest spells. So he would be limited to not summoning his meteors this time, or using any of his more destructive spells less he risk harming the city more than the Daemons. As everyone approached he took note of the ones that he knew, and the ones he didn't.
Jett he knew of, Captain of the Purple Orcas, his defenses were nigh impenetrable by conventional means, he was someone Vulkan looked forward to sparring one day when he had the chance. Hinota had come here with him, she was a healer, still training for the most part, but she would be able to see them all through this. Of her abilities he had no doubt, but with her disposition to be a pacifist he did worry about her. Then there was the red head...She had introduced herself to him as Gen when they first met, and so that was what he knew her as. He had no idea about her abilities, and magic, but she looked stronger now, stronger than she had been. To see her here he was curious, but he had heard that she was one of the original group who had tried to defeat the Daemon's here prior.
Perhaps she wished to fix her misstep. Either way he was glad to see her despite the fact that it didn't show on his face. Vulkan similar to Jett wasn't trying to conceal himself though he wasn't as strong as the Captain yet he hoped that the heat he radiated would provide a small measure of comfort to those around him, if nothing else. There were three people here that he didn't recognize, Valentine, Hans, and Valo. Those three were new to him, but Valentine wielded Shadow Magic similar to his brother Zaven so he had some ideas on how it worked. The boy Hans said a small prayer after introducing himself, and then coated himself in an aura of darkness his Four Leaf Grimoire floating next to him. That was curious to him, but they would see how this went soon.
Valo introduced himself as from the Green Mantis, but nothing more, Vulkan absorbed all of this knowledge already he was trying to formulate a plan to make sure they could succeed, his teal gaze rested on Genesis, and those with her. If he remembered correctly they had all partook in the attack previously, so they had knowledge on their enemies. Knowledge that he lacked, knowledge that Jett lacked. Fighting with raw power would be idiotic, they had to be smarter than their enemies if they were going to make it out in one piece.
"I am Vulkan..." he introduced himself his normal emotionless tone intact, his teal eyes still resting on Genesis, the slitted pupils like those of a reptile. "You three...You were here last time..." he was here on a mission, making friends could come later. "What are we up against, anything, and everything you know, we need to know as well...Even the most minor detail will be important." he stated to the trio opposite him.
Even though it had been a short amount of time a lot seemed to have happened, even though she hadn't known it at the time when she had gone to visit her friend Seren at the Blue Rose headquarters and ended up walking into a daemon attack on Raque. The vast water had all but drowned the town itself luckily thanks to the efforts of the Blue Rose mages and those she had met during the emergency the doll-like mage was happy to find out the casualties were minimal but even that was too much her death in her opinion but it wasn't like she could do anything about it then so there was nothing she could do about it now. She was glad to find out her mother and Seren hadn't been at their headquarters at the time of the attack but she also knew that was selfish of her as they could have helped and it may have turned the tides of battle sooner and even saved more lives. It wasn't until later she found out that Seren herself had ended up in Kikka where another daemon attack had taken place. It seemed like no matter what she was going to end up walking in on a daemon attack that day as she was wanting to go to Kikka with her friend for a girly day and Kikka was known for its commerce. She didn't know all the information other than what was public and what her squads captain had told everyone but she was sure there was more to it. She had also found out the royal capital had been attacked that very same day not long after she had left, she was really starting to wonder if she was cursed as no matter where she was going to be that day it was going to be attacked by a daemon.
[break][break] She had to admit to attack the royal capital took a lot of gall given two of the strongest squads resided there and the silver eagles could easily be called upon as they were within the same region. From what she had heard it had been a fight with many casualties and even landed her brothers captain in bed for several weeks due to the injuries but the royal capital had been saved. Much to her personal shame she had left the fight for Raque before the town had been saved, however, she knew she would have been of little help there due to her views on violence. No, she had instead helped the Blue Rose squad members get the weak and injured out of the town and to safety giving healing where she could to the best of her abilities at the time. She had kept it together and done her best to help two of the others she had met there focus on their tasks as magic knights and push through their fears, concerns, worries and any other personal reservations for that time. She felt cruel for doing it but they where the only thing between the daemons and the town of Raque falling under its power so they couldn't afford to falter or it would cost them and the kingdom dearly. Raque had been saved but still, the damage had been done not just to the citizens but even to her. What she had witnessed had left her traumatised, she still wasn't quite ready for something like that but then how could anyone her age? There is a difference when it comes to hearing about the monster under the bed and actually coming into contact with that same monster. Then there was Kikka... the only one of the three that had fallen under daemonic dominion. She wanted to know more but she hadn't managed to contact Seren to get any details, but then to be honest other than tasks given to her she tended to remain to herself within her room and if she did leave it was to go to the garden to flower arrange or dance. It was a kind of therapy for her but it still wasn't enough but she managed to keep her mask in place for the world.
[break][break] Two months had passed and Kikka remained shrouded in darkness, no one went in and no one left and what made it worse no one knew the condition of the citizens trapped within. She was quite sure they wouldn't be dead as what would be the point of taking the place over? History had shown that when a land is conquered those who live to submit to the ruler survive while those who don't are killed. She honestly didn't believe the citizens would be stupid enough to fight against a daemon that had managed to defeat a vice-captain and several magic knights and several brave citizens, they would do as needed for theirs and their families survival and wait for reinforcements to arrive to take out the darkness within their lives. During those two months, a call for volunteers had been given by the Wizard King himself. She knew it was a dire situation but still was hesitant to sign up, she was a pacifist and would have been as useful as she had been in Raque. It wasn't until she was reminded by her once guardian Elenor that she was stronger now and that in raque she had single-handedly helped a man that had been disembowell, upon hearing that she had gripped her own legs she had drawn blood, she had realised that it was her fear and trauma holding her back and that she had to push through it, the problem was she was unsure if her mask would remain in one piece this time around. She had gone to the office of the Wizard King nonetheless and volunteered her services.
[break][break] Since that time plans had been drawn up she still didn't fully know who she was going to be grouped with, she had found out that her captain and one of her seniors had signed up but she didn't actually know which at that time. It was now the day that the siege on Kikka was to happen, Elenor had given her transport to Kikka along the way to a task of her own and wished her all the best and demanded that she return safely with all digits and limbs intact. That was less than reassuring but she gave a weak smile and nodded. She was dressed in a pure white silk hanfu with a baby blue belt with a baby purple sash, around her shoulders was her squad mantle. Her make up matched although she wore a very light shade of pink baby pink lipstick her hair was elaborately done in silk cords of the three colours. It was when she got closer she bowed a little to the group "I'm Hinota of the Golden Dawn." she said quietly a soft tone heard none the less. She seen now which of her seniors she was to be grouped with, it was the silver-haired man she had recently done that dreadful hat house with. "It's a pleasure to see you again sir." she said regarding Vulkan, her eyes then went to those she had never seen before. She had heard of the original group that had found themselves within Kikka when this all happened, it had seemed three of them had decided to come back to settle the score or perhaps they were arranged she hadn't quite made up her mind on that one. There was another, he said his name was Valentine and that he had used shadow magic and of course the last of their group that needed no introduction. Jett King captain of the Purple Orca magic knight squad, she couldn't even fathom how this must be affecting him, this was not only his home but as far as she understood it many magic knights believed that when they join a squad that the city, town or village they are in fall under their protection. The citizens look at them first for aid. She could only empathise on how he must have feeling several emotions at once in this situation.
[break][break] She brought up a hand different coloured petals of different kinds appeared floating above her hand with the scent of citrus being smelt "I use miasma and flower magic." she said before looking at them all "As my senior knows, I am a pacifist but I excel in healing so I hope that is of use to us all." she said wanting to be upfront with them all about her limitations. She knew her senior likely believed this wouldn't be the best place for her to be given their limited interaction before but she was still a magic knight and that came with responsibilities and she couldn't shun those in need or shurk them just because of her personal outlook on things. She went quiet as Vulkan asked the original three a question about any additional information they can give before they entered, to be honest, this was a smart move as two of the three were citizens so didn't need to get debriefed by anyone so they may know things the rest of the group didn't.
The day had come and now at the southern side of the town stood one of the two teams that had volunteered for what many had seen as a fools errand. The team of Valentine, Vulkan, Valo, Hans, Genesis and Hinota was under the command of the Purple Orca captain Jett who knew some information that the rest of the team did not. Flying above the city playing overwatch was the vice-captain of the Crimson Lions, Lydia Ravencrest who had personally requested her captain and the Wizard King to be there as she herself wanted answers as to what happened within this town and to her former partner. At first, the Wizard King had refused to allow it but after some time of thinking he could see how her presence could be beneficial to those within the town, still, he didn't want to overplay his hand by putting all of his eggs in one basket and so she was given separate orders only known to her and the captains that would be within the town. Her orders were to remain out of the fight while giving support when requested by the captains and the captains alone. The reason for this unusual order was that the reports had shown this enemy was strong in illusion magic and where Lydia wouldn't know most of those in the teams and those she did know could possibly be mimicked via the illusions given the strength of the enemy. Captains however where at the peaks of power so it would take more to even attempt to do such a thing, that and the light mage knew that each captain had several keywords and phrases they needed to state between each communication with her and each other to prove it was indeed them, no chances were been taken this time around.
With introductions made, a question was asked of the original three for additional information that they may not have not given before that point due to forgetting or not holding allegiance due to being civilians and not magic knights. It would be truly up to the trio on whether they would give up any additional information they still had that the others may not know. While this was all this was happening, on the town walls sat the twin servants looking down at the group, their presences hidden even from the most astute sensory. "It seems they decided to come back to the graveyard." Lilitu said noticing three of the original group "I wonder if they have learned their lesson on being so reckless from the last time" Ito said walking away from the wall "They seem stronger..." Lilitu said with a smile "And they have some really some strong people with them our lord should be very happy this time." she continued softly making Ito stop to look over his shoulder to his sister "Strength doesn't always correlate to the common sense a person has after all the original group could have defeated us even in their weakened state but they made foolish moves. They destroyed quite a few things, harmed children, didn't make their deal well with our master, helped torture another, almost blew themselves up to name a few things." he said he said with a stoic tone making Lilitu tilt her head a little to the left "I guess that is true..." she leaned over the top of the wall "There are some that will make great additions to my graveyard though." she said with a grin before following Ito away knowing that they had work to do now.
Upon entering the town it is clear to tell things aren't right as it is so silent any kind of noise even from a distance would be heard. There were a few people scattered here and there but upon seeing the group they would hurry inside whatever building was nearest. Though it would be hard a small girl covered in black marks would be seen. This little girl would be familiar to at least three of the group from their first time here, in her arms would still be that same homemade Artemis doll. "Hurry... there will be things here soon." she said running off in the direction of her home. It would truly be up to them if they followed the girl or not. If they did they would be ushered inside of her home and offered what limited hospitality could be afforded given the circumstances "I'm sure you all want to know what's been going on since Kikka went radio silent with the rest of the kingdom." The girls mother said looking to the group "Feel free to ask your questions and we can try our best to answer them and before you ask Valorisse no, it isn't completely safe for me to help but it is safer for me than any other in town due to my little treasure. They have kept to their word on that." she said to the green mantis member. "Welcome home captain Jett, it is has been a while and I wish your homecoming was under better circumstances in all honesty." she said gently she had been a member of the purple orca's years ago but had left due to pregnancy and wanting to raise her child with her husband without having to bring conflict home, even now however her sense of duty was in the forefront of her mind, it couldn't help but be. "I foreseen this coming and so sent my daughter to go retrieve you since she is still the safest person in this currently damned town. I do foresee a light coming at the end of this darkness so we haven't given up hope." she said showing she had been trying to keep the spirits of the citizens up even though it been hard to do at times.
Story:
Above the city only known to Jett, Zaven and Ardere is Lydia playing overwatch. She is there to be support and nothing else at least for the moment. She is under orders to only act upon one of the captains orders and a failsafe has been put in place so she will know if it is a captain or an imposter and vice versa. Ito and Lilitu are fully aware of your presence, in fact, they watched you all enter the city and had a small conversation between themselves about it before going about their tasks. The group were met with complete silence, the few citizens that had been out doing things instantly retreated in fear into the nearest building. A small girl with an Artemis doll in her arms ushered them to follow her and brought them to her house where they could ask questions to gain more insight as to what had happened within the town within the last two months of isolation.
- You are not locked into anything until your first post within your thread.
- The event will run on three strikes in regards to skipping rounds. The first time will be a verbal warning and perhaps a trap being set off, the second time I am taking something from you and will set a trap off, third time you will either be removed or killed depending on the reasons for the skips.
- Lydia is flying above the town under orders of the Wizard King, only the captains know and only they can request help
- Lydia is allowed to shoot light into threads once per page, the light will last 2 rounds before vanishing during the 2 rounds of sight character vision will be fully restored
- If two or more characters are below 50% on either mana or health the light will return either 10 mana or 25% of the character's health per round it can not do both.
- During the two round of pure light Lydia will be able to see the town perfect for the most part so can relay information if requested to one group but she must be contacted for that information.
- If a captain in one thread asks for light to be given, the very next round the opposite thread will gain the benefit of the light so use this wisely.
- If Lydia believes someone is doing something stupid after two rounds and if gm permission is asked she can shoot a warning shot at the person in question but not directly hit them.
[attr="class","vaileshadowsscroll"] Introductions were made for those that cared to make them. Vaile wouldn’t say his own was a lie, Valentine was his name, one of them anyway. [break][break] The best kinds of lies were those dabbled with the truth after all. [break][break] He continued his walk with his vision alarmingly unclear. He didn’t like it, he still kept reaching out with his senses, quietly searching for the one reason he did come there. He still felt nothing when he searched for the Summoner. [break][break] It was his own choice to be there, perhaps an unwise decision after all. He didn’t like the feeling of Knights watching his every move, it was more suffocating than the shadows. His grievances were left unsaid and his silence was enough for anyone to realize that he shouldn’t have been approached. Vaile Valentine had no loyalty here, he wasn’t a patriot. At this moment, at this time, selfish, self-serving actions defined him. [break][break] Of course, he saw the child. The approach was seemingly just out of the dark. And in the shadows, no one could see the slight twitch of his lips, the subtle movement of his brow. [break][break]
“It’s always little girls, huh?”
[break] The ghost of the girl inside his head said so. He looked at the child. Small, unassuming, clenching on to the Knight doll. Unlike his ghost, this girl was real, real enough, and everyone else would see her. At least, as best they could in the dark. He would follow her, as with everyone else that would, because that seemed the only thing they could even do. [break][break] However, he stayed near the doorway of the house, his eyes left to scan the area, and his ears preyed on what information the child’s mother would share with them. [break][break] Former Knight, sense of duty, sob story. Hope. [break][break] There were too many unfortunate souls who had been left in this maddening dome of shadows. They simply didn’t have anywhere to go. Perhaps he felt sorry for them, perhaps he didn’t. Maybe it was better that they all understood what it was like to live life without hope of the light. Life was too cruel, some people needed to understand that. [break][break] Vaile paused, resting his head against the hard wooden frame, the solid structure he attempted to ground himself with. He exhaled a deep, deep breath. He understood it was worse to think like that, but maddening thoughts plagued his mind. He had a goal here, and it wasn’t to anything like duty or hope. He erased his mana presence naturally, feeling the cool dark wrap itself around him. Another part of himself thinking it would be nice to simply be left enveloped by the shadows. The light was too harsh, blinding, and bright. [break][break] Hopeful. [break][break] His senses still searched for a sign of familiar mana.

Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
Clear grey-green eyes flickered from one person to the other. This new group certainly had a different vibe, a different atmosphere. Then again, she was also different compared to the first time around. Hans had muttered something about his mother and a feminine name. Interesting. Valo had shown his squad allegiance. Nothing surprising there. They have been training at his squad’s base, after all, and though the members may be slightly mismatched and crazy, their loyalty could not be doubted.
As they were entering Kikka, Genesis had noticed that even the surrounding towns were quiet. It seemed like the daemons had stayed busy, overcoming the lesser villages around the town. But no longer, they were here in the enemy base to repay their kindness. Even now, as they gathered, the few remaining citizens walking about in the streets picked up their pace and hurried into the safety of their homes. The air shifted, and from her previous knowledge, the red-haired femme would not be surprised if the daemons were watching their every move. Indeed, it would be bizarre if they were not. Nothing was the same, yet change has been the only constant.
Then the Golden Dawn knight was speaking and asking about the trio’s past experiences. Smart. “There are three daemons, the master and his two servants. They use shadow and pure aura, and excel in illusions and traps. The illusions are not to be taken lightly.” The original group had almost killed innocent children the first time around, but she did not mention that. Strange how she herself was now dabbling in the very same dark arts of illusion, although hers were still rudimentary compared to the daemon’s.
“The daemons have a twisted sense of honor, but hold true to their word. One little girl has been marked, and she alone holds the safety for the entire town.” She blinked slowly, as if reciting and bringing out all the information she had gleaned during her self reflection period. “There were five wells that needed to be destroyed, so we split off. My group destroyed one, so there are four more left.”
Here she paused to let the dark mage and Green Mantis knight add in further information if they choose to. Then she cocked her head towards the fire mage’s direction, but her eyes were still on the one who posed the question. “Fire gives a little more vision. Perhaps your lava magic can do something similar.” She had not seen the man in action before, nor vice versa. It would be interesting to see what he could do. But for now, she could trust in the fighting skills of the two that were presumably next to her.
Then she gazed around the group, landing on the captain himself. She was sure that he, as their leader, possibly knew things that they did not, but would still need all the information that they could give. “‘Shadow and darkness are not as fast as light, but just as tricky. Don't always trust your senses. Question everything. Don't jump in blind if you want to survive.’” It was clear that she was quoting something. Only her two companions would recognize it as from a warning Ito had given them previously, though it was not exactly word for word. The advice the daemon had given them was reasonable, but it was up to the individuals of the group if they would heed those words or not.
As a little girl covered in shadow marks came hurrying up to them, Gen allowed a flicker of emotion cross her face. This innocent child had been caught up in this hellish nightmare and had probably been suffering the most, through no fault of her own. She was still holding onto the doll that looked incredibly like the blond water mage. The shadow mage bent down till she was eye level with the little girl. “Nanami.” She greeted, then turned to the group. “This is her.” She assumed they would recognize the child as the girl they have been talking about. Even to any normal onlooker, one could see she was set apart. Despite all the shadowy marks branded on her skin, she seemed to be currently free from any daemonic bindings. That was a good sign.
"Hurry... there will be things here soon."
The redhead nodded. “She is the only one keeping the town safe from the daemons. Her safety comes above all.” If the rest of the group wanted an explanation, she was sure Valo or Hans could provide that. Besides her being one of the ‘original’ people, there was nothing else to establish her credibility like being in a Magic Knights squad. She was also unsure as to whether the girl would have recognized her, but since she had come all the way over here to give them a warning, Genesis figured that she did. The young woman was in no ways a leader—nor did she want to—so she merely nodded at the Purple Orca captain and quickly followed after Nanami. Whether the rest of the group decided to follow was their decision, but she, for one, trusted the little girl.
At least it seemed like Vincent-Valentine, the other shadow mage, had also followed them. She was still unsure as to why he was here, but dropped the curiosity. It was of no concern of hers. They just needed to defeat the daemons and take back Kikka. She soon found herself running towards what seemed to be the residential area, where Nanami’s home was located. Last time, it had been Valo and Charles who had escorted her back to her parents, so this was Genesis’ first time meeting Nanami’s mother.
“Ma’am.” She bobbed her head before crossing the threshold into the house. At her offer to answer any questions, Genesis hesitated for a moment. “What have the daemons been doing recently?” That would be the only question she posed, just to start the conversation going. If the others had followed Nanami and entered the house, she would let all the others make their formalities, if any, and ask their questions. Any kind of information would be helpful, but for now, she would let the others speak. She had already spoken enough, and was now just waiting for the daemons to make their next move...or appearances.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo was ready to finally enter his home again, he wanted nothing more than to finish this. But he didn't let himself be blinded this time in anger and desperation. Be it maturity or something else, the young fire knight started to wise up. He's been through this before, he didn't want to fail again and that meant working with this team. So when Vulcan asked about what they knew, Valo would little to no issues giving him an answer. But Genesis was the first to answer, if this were before the first trip to Kikka her sudden quickness to answer would have surprised him a little bit. Genesis was a silent type she didn't like to speak unless spoken to, or needed to. And that was the truth, but if she did need to speak up she wouldn't hesitate to do so this was something Valo learned about her in the passing months. She could actually become quite talkative given enough reason.
She was thorough and precise in her words, making sure to hit just about every note of importance. She mentioned the use of traps, illusions and tricks first and that was probably the most important thing to mention. This threat wasn't just something they could punch and attack away it didn't really matter how powerful one was. This threat was more mental and required some actual thinking, something the first group learned the hard way. The images of Hans and Charles realizing they attacked innocent children flashed in Valo's mind. Valo was past this, but the act committed by these daemon's was unforgivable. Valo was close to Genesis and Hans, as they walked through the town. The Green Mantis knight took a deep breath and closed his eyes, he opened them again accepting his vision was going to half of what it normally was. Almost as if he welcomed it, unlike last time this didn't catch him off guard. "Home. I will not fail you again." he said to himself quickly only those close to him would hear it.
Genesis continued now talking about the Daemon's and their sense of pride, it was extremely odd but true. These Daemon's weren't mindless monsters, they had thoughts, feelings perhaps, and took immense pride in themselves. So much so they actually did't go back on their word, not once. Genesis finished her sentence talking about the wells, and Valo would continue after her. "Me and Charles another knight we didn't manage to destroy a well at all before everything just...ended." Valo said recalling back to that time. When the daemon's announced the fate of Artemis, Valo was ready to continue the fight but he had to be forced out for his own life. "The wells should be our first and primary targets, we destroy them we weaken the daemons. After that we kill them." Valo continued.
Valo heard Genesis quote of the daemon's, he remembered when it spoke those near exact lines it apparently stuck with the red head. The words were true though it probably helped Hans and Genesis learn more about their elements and further progress them to new heights. Valo looked on as the people in the streets rushed back into their home, some faces he knew and recognized. The only thought in his mind was not failing them again, he wouldn't allow it not at all. But what did catch his attention was Nanami coming into view, his eyes widened at the sight of her. She was ok, just like the Daemon's promised and unharmed from what it looked like. This would put him at ease, just the thought of her triggered some headaches when he was forced to leave.
Swept up in emotions, Valo kneel down to see the young girl eye to eye she was still holding her Artemis doll. He didn't have the heart just yet to tell her what happened the Vice Captain. "Nanami you're ok." he said simply, there was times he truly believed the worst might have happened. He would attempt to rub her head full of hair, his eyes tearing up just slightly. "I'm sorry for failing you. I would understand if..." Valo couldn't finish his sentence the girl was already going on ahead. She did say they have to hurry.
She led to the same house he and Charles came to drop her off. The first thing he wanted to ask was if they were ok, but Nanami's mother read his mind like an open book. She even used his first full name would made him cringe a bit. He only heard his full first name a handful of times, mostly from his own mother when she was trying to get something through his thick skull. "We-we failed the first time. We won't fail again." Valo said looking the women in her eyes, holding onto his staff his grip getting harder and harder. Valo looked shaken up at first, but he gathered himself he truly meant what he said. He was more than grateful for them not loosing hope, it surprised him a bit. He thought coming in they would want nothing to do with him or anyone else, claiming to help. "Thank You." he said Nanami and her mother.
"It looks like everything was kept exactly the same as before, has no one else that you know been hurt? In danger? captured maybe?" Valo wanted to find out how the innocent people of Kikka were doing. To him their safety came first, he didn't want to see anymore neighbors he knew lives be cut short from all this madness. "I know you are safe...for the most part. But that isn't the same for everyone else, their lives are still in danger every passing moment. Any information would help." Valo asked with confidence, he was here to finally kill the daemons but saving lives came first he didn't forget that. He learned that from Artemis, she made questionable choices but it was all for the sake of innocent lives being saved. Valo would continue where she left off. Valo also remembered seeing Mr. Fung's body being used as some kind of vessel for their shadow beasts. If more people had been taken for these spells, it would let the group know what to expect in terms of other threats.
"The daemons they tend to use...human bodies for their mana beasts to take over and attack. Any weird sightings of things like that?" Valo finished off.

The group that had gathered was a strange collection, well at least from what he could see, though they did all seem capable even if they didn’t come off as strong fighters. Strength wasn’t everything though, that was something Jett had learnt himself coming through the ranks of the Magic Knights and working with so many different kinds of mages. Of the group, the three mages that had failed previously had seemed the most important thus far, giving out information of the deamons, how they operate and their basic overall M.O. Of course, they weren’t the only ones with additional information, as the Orca captain had himself inside information from his mentor, Jagen, on the third party of one that was working support with the group. While the information would be helpful for the group to know, the diamond wizard was well aware that they could be being watched by the deamons, hidden with the use of their sensory magic, so would keep his cards close to his chest until the most opportune moment arrived. Of the group as a whole, Jett knew he would be reliant upon Vulkan in terms of strength, the mans progress had not gone unnoticed through the years, making a name for himself with a string of impressive feats. As for the rest, the purple haired man would just be paying them an empty lip service to say he knew who they were but reknown had little to do with how competent they would prove to be.
The darkness surrounding Jett’s home was staggering in how quickly it seemed to surround you and steal away your vision, barely able to see too far in front of yourself before it became a completely devoid of all light. From that abyss though, arrived a small girl, grasping onto a very familiar looking doll, causing those of the group who had fought previously to squat to her and make sure she was okay. Sheathing Caliburn, Jett relaxed somewhat, at first worried the girl might be some sort of trap made out of malice and cruelty from the deamon, though keeping his grimoire at the ready just in case. Inviting the group to follow her, they would make their way to her home were Jett would be met with a familiar face in the girl’s mother. Once of the same squad, though not around to see him become captain, she had left to pursue the family life. ”Its good to see you again Charlotte. I just wish it was all under better circumstances, though I’ll make sure we put an end to this before tomorrow. Jett gave a smile as he spoke as he took a chair from under a table before sitting on it.
Valo mentioned something that horrified the diamond mage, the deamons using humans as hosts of mana beasts, making them have some hard choices to be made for the group. It was good information though and the more they had the better. ”We don’t mean to bombard you with questions but knowledge is power and all that. What are you able to tell us about these deamons? How do they treat the townsfolk? What’s their routines? Is there some sort of clear objective that they seem to be carrying out? Really, anything you can give us, no matter how small, may still be able to help us when it matters most.”
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans turned his head to Vulkan's direction. He appeared to have some questions for the original three regarding Kikka which was a smart move. Before Valo or Hans could say anything, Gen was already speaking up, giving as much information to the others as she could. The merc was honestly surprised to hear the redhead speak so much. His previous interaction with the shadow mage during that one mission, and of course the months spent with her and Valo, she didn't speak all that much, but neither did Hans. The dark mage isn't much of a talker himself, but not because he thinks it makes him look cool or anything...he was just bad at it.
Stepping more into this cursed town, Hans quietly looked around as the others spoke. There were townspeople out and about, but the moment they took notice of the group, they fled into their homes and other buildings just like before. It was probably for the best since things were going to end up getting messy. They couldn't risk anymore innocents getting hurt....and Hans couldn't risk hurting anymore children. That incident was still fresh in the dark mage's mind. Just thinking about it made the guy clench the hilt of his greatsword, his hand trembling a bit. Hans was more aware of the illusions now...but what if he's still doomed to repeat the cycle again?
The pained look on those two children's faces as they clung onto life haunted the man, causing him to nearly stop in his tracks, but then he heard the fire mage mutter something...about not failing his home. Hans glanced over at the guy, seeing that fiery determination in his eyes, burning as bright as the magic he possesses. Valo wasn't letting his previous mistakes hold him back, and neither was Gen it seems. Hans came back to this town for a reason, and it wasn't to dwell on his blunders. He needed to make things right, and that is exactly what he'll do. With that, Hans took a deep breathe, helping to calm his nerves.
"You won't." he muttered, addressing Valo before shaking his head slowly. "We...won't." the merc corrected in a similar tone, referring to the group as a whole, but with most of it aimed to the original three.
Gen then started to quote a certain daemon, quickly catching the merc's attention. He gave the shadow mage a knowing glance, but said nothing about it and continued to look forward. Ito....Between him and Sven, it felt like Ito had the sharper tongue. He knows just what to say to get under ones skin, but thanks those words he shared with the merc, and Gen, Hans was beginning to understand a bit more about his element. The daemons aren't the only ones who can get crafty...
A familiar looking little girl then came into the scene. Nanami, the little girl that the previous group saved, and one of the keys to ensure this town's safety. Valo and Gen of course went to see if they girl was alright, but just like before Hans stayed a bit back, sliding his greatsword back into the sheathe on his back. He was glad to see that she's alright...but Hans didn't exactly give off the friendliest of vibes especially with his element being so similar to the one plaguing this town, so he didn't want to risk scaring her. She then brought the group to her home, and continued to keep his distance, hanging around where Valentine was brooding.
Appears that the girl's mother is not just familiar with...Valorisse, but with Jett King as well which makes sense considering the town they are in. Thinking about it now, this battle must be just as personal to the Purple Orca Captain as it is for Valo. Two "Kings" returning to retake their "Kingdom".
Crossing his arms, Hans just leaned up against a wall and listened in on what the others were saying, having nothing helpful to add in himself that hasn't been said already.

[attr="class","textie"]He trusted Gen, the red haired mage that he had met on several occasions now. She had never once given him reason to doubt her, when he invited her to the Capital she for some reason came, and he showed her around. When he first met her, she had even sort of helped him find a lead on his mother. The way she spoke to him wasn't out of character for him, she had always talked to him, he didn't know why, but he appreciated it now. So he absorbed every piece of knowledge that she gave him, this was going to be tricky for them all to deal with. Their elements were something he was familiar with, Shadow he had fought against many times thanks to Zaven, Pur Aura wasn't one he had encountered, but it was just energy for the most part. Illusions, and traps however would make them dangerous foes.
They had, had two months to prepare all they wanted, which meant that this entire was going to be rigged with various things that they were going to have to deal with. They were fighting their enemy on their own turf which was less than ideal, though the part about the Daemons keeping their word struck a chord with him. So he tucked that piece of information away in the back of his mind for the moment. When she mentioned a little girl who had been marked, and was responsible for the safety of the entire town, he narrowed his gaze for a moment, but said nothing. Instead he continued to listen, when she mentioned that his Lava Magic might be able to do something to help their vision he nodded. When the time came he would attempt, but he couldn't keep any promises.
That was when the little girl showed up, and seemed to want to take them to her house, Vulkan walked behind the others, and simply closed his eyes. He extended his Ki Sense out to it's maximum, something was strange about this scenario, about this little girl. He wanted to know why she was the one responsible for the safety of the town, though he had his own ideas. So he was curious if he would feel anything from her if he tried to sense her with Ki, if she was even real. For others they might think about this, but it would make sense to him. Two creatures send a helpless little girl to lure enemies into their traps, thinking about this strategically it made the most sense. Along the way Valo made note of their enemy turning civilians into monsters for them to fight.
It was a tasteless strategy, but it was a strategy, and if you were determined to break the morale of the one you opposed it would work. Especially if you didn't have the same restrictions as your enemies. This was what his books often called an uphill battle, keeping his Ki Sense active as he walked along making sure nothing escaped his visage even though it was currently limited. When they arrived at the home Jett spoke to the mother which eased some of suspicion of the little girl being some sort of illusory spy. Though he didn't drop his Ki Sense for a second.
So they were dealing with enemies specialized in deceiving the senses. As they all spoke he kept listening, but he was simply taking stock of the power they had on hand. Jett specialized in defense, Hinota in healing, and Vulkan could simply destroy the entire town with a meteor shower if there weren't civilians, and he didn't want to piss Jett off. He was thinking about their best way to get through this, the wells seemed to be powering the Daemons those had to go. However he wouldn't let them split up, in all the stories he had read you never split the party up especially in a scenario like this, you just died. Walking up to the little girl who was keeping this town safe for some reason, for some reason they had marked her. Vulkan removed his tattered Golden Dawn robe, and he knelt down in front of the little girl.
"I have been told...You are keeping everyone safe. That is very brave of you..." he spoke softly to the little girl noting the doll in her hand. "This is not the same squad as your doll...But for keeping everyone safe I think you've earned it...This is my most treasured possession...It has seen me through many missions, battles, and hard times." If she allowed him he would place the oversized robe on the little girl. "I would like to make you an honorary member of the Golden Dawn for your bravery little one...If that is okay?" his voice was soft. "Or the Green Mantis if that is more to your liking the colors are a little different..." He seemed to trail off, children were not his expertise, but she was holding the weight of the world on her tiny little shoulders, and he wasn't going to let her do that alone anymore.
Everyone else was already questioning the mother he saw no need to intrude upon that, and this to him was more important for the moment.
