The doll-like mage had noticed her vision had drastically decreased, this was less than optimal in her opinion as it would make it harder for her to react in ways she normally would. She should have been unsettled but somehow she was calm within this storm, she knew nothing would come from fear other than mistakes and playing into the arms of the enemy and really this was the last thing the town needed. Other than her introduction she had remained completely quiet, there was no need for her to speak or voice her thoughts, she was running through each and every scenario that this could go wrong with the limited knowledge she had. She had no idea if she was right or not but believed that both sides would have at least one backup plan as neither side would want to give up what they believed was theirs rightfully. If there was a backup plan on their side the less people knew about it the better because if walls had ears she was pretty sure shadows did too and they were surrounded by those. The best bet would be to crack the defences but that might be a bit harder to do with something that shifts as freely as the wind, still there had to be a way to do it, it was just a matter of how bit first they'd need to find a shadow in a town of them.
[break][break]
Her train of thought completely derailed as the red-headed assassin looking woman started to give the information that was requested by her senior. It stood to reason being shadow daemons they would use illusions and traps instead of fighting head-on, it played to their strengths in her mind especially since they were only three. "Guerilla warfare." she muttered more to herself than anyone else shaking her head, she hated those lessons but it seemed like it would actually be helpful for once. They would never attack them while they were in a group like this she was sure of so was pretty sure they would try to split them up and pick them off at least that's how she'd to it if the tides were turned. Two things had caught her off guard though "A sense of honour?" she couldn't help but question that part alone, she never thought of beings that could do such a thing to innocent beings as having honour so it really had confused the young Golden Dawn mage. The second was of a marked child that held the safety of the entire town on their shoulders, in her mind no one needed that kind of responsibility least of all a child. The third thing she took from this conversation was that the strength of the enemy weakened as the wells of darkness they had to destroy were taken out. "I am not meaning for this to come off wrongly as I wasn't in your shoes Gen, but, we can't rely on that information on the wells as accurate now. They have had two months to prepare and train as we have so they might be just as strong without relying on those wells anymore I would suggest still airing on the side of caution to be on the safe side." Out of this group he realised that she was likely the youngest and witnessed the least but she was brought up with two tacticians as parents and had to study the art of war even if she found it distasteful.
[break][break]
It was then a little girl perhaps four or five marked with shadow markings appeared at the side of a building ushering them to follow her because something would be there soon. She looked to her senior with suspicion as she didn't know if the girl could be trusted but by the way two of the original three had taken to her, even calling her by name meant they had interactions with her in the past. "It could be an illusion or a trick." she whispered so only her senior could hear her words, they checked how she had been over the last few months before the group ultimately followed the girl who had runoff in the direction she believed to be the centre of town. With all the shadows she had no idea how long they had been running but if she had to guess perhaps five minutes only to enter what looked like a rundown house at least from the outside, the inside, however, was pristine and looked like the home of a well off trader. The woman who seemed to be the young girls mother seemed to welcome the group and offered to answer their questions, it was clear to see she knew the green mantis magic knight and even the captain of the purple orca's but the latter was more understandable as she was pretty sure even outside the kingdom of Clover everyone knew the captains due to their feats. What surprised her was that Jett called the woman by name, it had seemed that she had once been a Purple Orca herself but given the responsibilities of raising a child had moved away from that life for a more peaceful one. She thought it would have been wonderful if her own parents had done that but they had their own traditions that they followed that prevented such things from happening. As it stood their duties to the kingdom came even before her and her elder brother so they had been raised by servants, nannies and tutors for most their lives. She hated those traditions but still, she knew she was also bound by them and one day would have to figure things out for herself, today however wasn't that day thankfully.
[break][break]
Her eyes went to her senior who seemed to break from the pack and started to talk to the little girl who was holding to a quite familiar magic knight, though, she herself hadn't met the vice-captain of the green mantis in person her actions were well known in the kingdom. Her eyes then moved to the mother "I'm sorry if this is a sensitive question miss, but, why is your daughter so special?" she asked in earnest. She had held on to her own sleeves as she had asked this question as it had made her uncomfortable to ask but it was a curiosity on why a lone child of four or five years old could be the saviour of a town. she didn't want to hit any sensitive nerves but this might be something that could be helpful to them in some way or at least something that could be reported on after they dispersed the darkness. It was then she realised something and looked to the group "There are two teams here to help free Kikka. Does anyone have a communication spell? It might be helpful to share information between our groups." she asked and then suggested, it be easier to precision strike if everyone was on the same page or at least she liked to hope so but she also knew that area of effect spells were a thing and accidents would very likely happen but that was an issue for if they crossed that bridge.
The entire group had seen Nanami, two of the three original members had decided to go and interact with her she waved to the four people she didn't know her markings more apparent when she did so. It was clear she had been hurt in the last two months but she still smiled and kept her doll close to her. She looked to Valo and smiled nodding happily "I don't know if 'fine' is the best way to describe it but they don't kill me so I'll take that." she said her voice saddened as she looked to the ground uncomfortably, she had been marked as a cursed child by everyone else in the town, her own friends now threw rocks and other things at her so she really didn't go far from home now due to it. She looked to Valo and knew he was trying to hide something from her, he knew him well enough that his eyes had telltale signs that even she could recognise at her age more so now because she had to be very aware of her surroundings and incoming projectiles. She had been blessed with the magic of water but had also been born with the same rare magic of her mother, permeation. She had no real understanding of it and likely wouldn't until she grew older. She moved over and kicked him lightly in the shin mostly because even knelt she couldn't hit the back of his head from where she was standing. "You didn't fail home!" she said her tone though young held the anger of a mother bear "You prevented even worse things from happening! We are alive, you survived and brought others to help that's not failing, its a silver lining on really, really dark clouds." once she stopped talking she pouted only way a cute kid could. "Mummy and I have both seen that you won't fail this time around, your pride as a person won't allow it." she said giggling before she ran off fully.
Charlotte now looked at Valo and hugged him as he spoke "I knew you were going to fail..." she admitted before pulling back and looking him deep in the eye "Before you asked why didn't I tell you, would you have really believed me?" her tone was saddened but she knew just how headstrong he could be and how he would refuse to accept defeat if he was told that he couldn't do something. No. This was something he had to see first hand. "We are actually treated rather well so longs we do as we're told in all honesty." she said moving to into her kitchen for a few moments and bringing out tea for everyone. "We are of course treated as second class citizens compared to them but with how some nobles are it is really no change." she said starting to pour the sparkling tea. "There are those who tried a rebellion and have been punished harshly to quell such things happening before but they haven't been killed either, instead, they are made to suffer publically." she stopped pouring for a moment her face filled with pain, it was clear she was holding back a memory she didn't want to remember at or even experience seeing again. After a long moment, she went back to pouring tea as she tried to dismiss the thought it had been over two weeks since such things had happened to her knowledge. "Weird sightings?" she looked to the window "Have a look for yourself, inside homes your sight will be perfect we aren't affected by the darkness that holds the town in an iron fist." she said to him "Children can see perfectly outside as well as you know due to Nanami" she said holding out a cup of tea to Jett.
She then looked to the red-head who had decided to call her ma'am and tilted her head a little "Please don't call me Ma'am I am not in my midlife yet. I'm not really much older than I expect you are maybe only five or six years. My name is Charlotte." she said calmly holding a cup to her "As for what the daemons have been up to, I couldn't really tell you in all honesty." she said calmly "I know most of the wells have moved location and even if they are destroyed they will not weaken as they once would, in fact, the opposite might actually happen if I was to wager a guess." she said almost as if she was deep in thought but until it happens was real way to know of what the implications could be. "They have had people making some buildings, destroying others, they've been increasing their dominion to the nearby villages and the twins left the city for a while." she said moving to a wall and sliding it open to reveal a closet with seven lanterns "So, I took the opportunity to procure seven light lanterns in the hopes that it will help you all. It will only do around twenty meters of light given the shadow but it is likely better than what you can all see at current." she admitted, they had been expensive given the element she had requested but if they helped they would be worth it. "Six of them come with a shield." she looked to her former captain "Yours doesn't because it would be a bit useless if we are completely honest captain." she said with a chuckle. "Yours will allow you additional speed, it should help you defend more people or get to where you need to that bit faster." she said honestly "The lanterns will take on the aspect of the on holding them either in the colour of the light or the case itself." she said bringing Jett his and putting it on the table next to him "So please remember to pick them up before you leave and be careful with them because they can break." she warned them
She smiled to Jett as he said he would have this ended within the day and she shook her head "You are looking at at least three days at current captain." she said with a smile, he would know that her estimations were rarely wrong and would alter depend on what she saw with the use of her magic. "Still as you know this could change and I will do my best to keep you updated on that time frame if you wish." she offered him. "Oh, please help yourselves to the tea it may help you." she said realising she hadn't offered the cups to the other but with everything going on it would be understandable. She herself then took a seat and looked to everyone "I can't tell you of their routines as I have never seen them with my eyes or my magic." she knew her daughter could answer that question but she refused to allow her daughter become a pawn for this fight nor would she allow them to believe that she was an enemy of the kingdom or liability to them and their task, she looked directly to Valo and put her finger to her lip knowing he was the only other person who knew of Nanami's secret. Once she knew he understood what she was getting at she turned to the group as a whole once more. "I don't know how much you know of the folklore of the desert but they act like almost like Djinn, you need to be very precise and leave no room for loopholes or grey areas when making deals or requests from them." she looked over to her daughter who was distracted which was thankful for what she was about to say "When the vice-captain of the green mantis made her deal with Sven she only made sure he wouldn't attack us while we were inside our homes, she said nothing about those under his control, while we were outside or even the buildings themselves meaning he could technically still kill us while we are inside." she admitted giving them all an example "He has however kept to his word and he has never hurt us while we have been inside our homes, he has always waited until we have left even if we have wronged him." she informed him "It is strange to see a daemon keep to their word but I guess even they have their oddballs." she said trying to keep a bright look on the situation.
"As I said earlier we are treated like second class citizens but we get everything we need to survive. Food, clothing, warmth, medical care so on and so forth but this is so long as we don't anger them then things change at least to that family." Her eyes wandered to Nanami once more "They treat her like a princess so those who harm her get punished and I, having given birth to her get a few things here and there such as I get to see the actual sun an hour or so each day so I can look after her to the best of my ability. It is so strange." she said looking to them her tone she was truly puzzled by this. "From what I can tell they have no objective, I do know there is around two or three dozen purple orca within the base in the bottom floor, they are under some sort of sleep effect and are bound. I have Nanami take them supplements each day so they don't starve or dehydrate but their bones will be weakened from not moving in two months so they'll need help with that when this is all over." she informed Jett "I can help with that." she offered him, she was a herbalist and was the daughter of a renowned doctor within the royal capital who had taught her all he knew before his tragic passing when she was still a teenager. "The well inside the Purple Orca headquarters is still there but as you know captain it isn't exactly an easy place to siege if it was then we wouldn't use it as a base of operations." she chuckled however as all purple orca worth their mantles knew every inch of their headquarters. It's strengths, where the weaknesses were, where was fortified, how to enter without being seen and how to leave the same way. Of course, she knew there would be things that only the captain and vice-captain would know and that could give them an edge in entering the place but that would also mean Jett might need to give up some squad secrets and she was unsure if he was willing to even under the current situation.
Nanami looked up from the tea party she was having with her Artemis doll and teddy bears with a confused look double blinking "I'm not the one responsible for it." she said her voice mirroring her expression "Just they said they'd never hurt me so while I'm here they can't destroy the town." she said in an innocent dumbfounded tone only a child could hold. She blinked more watching as he not only spoke to her but took off his mantle and gave it to her. This completely confused her to the point of panic the light inside the house diming quickly causing Charlotte to panic knowing what would come next if it wasn't sorted. Charlotte quickly rushed over to her and hugged her quickly and started singing softly in her daughter's ear until she calmed the light returning to the room. "Feel better?" she asked watching as her daughter nodded before she returned to where she was "No, I don't want to explain what just happened and I will refuse to say anything even if pushed about it as this is my issue, not yours." it was clear she would put her foot down on this matter as the tone only an overly protective mother bear was on the forefront of her tone, it was clear she would fully do anything she needed to defend her child regardless of the cost to her.
Nanami touched the long mantle "Sorry, I didn't mean to panic..." she whispered believing that she was in the wrong she didn't know why that kind of thing happened when she panicked recently and when she asked her mommy she had always been told she would tell her when she got her grimoire. She was glad that her mommy was there to reassure her that it wasn't her fault, that she was a good girl and that she would protect her no matter what came her way. "But only nobles get into the golden dawn..." she said quietly almost nervous that she was wearing it even though she had been given it by a golden dawn member. "If it's precious to you, you should keep it." she said to the taller silver-haired man not wanting to take something special from him. She held out a teacup to Vulkan as if inviting him to her tea party a smile on her face. Charlotte looked over to Nanami once more now that another question had been asked "When they first entered the town we ran to the church for protection because it is again fortified, but we were met by the three daemon. They took the children inside and had them scream, it sent every parent including me into a panic, I knew she was safe but still hearing her scream like that... you just can't help thing the worst." she began smiling as she saw her offer the cup to the male golden dawn mage. "People fought to get in the church and they ended up being killed by traps, when the children were released we were all relieved the head of the three said they would spare one child and as parents, we would decide which of our children would be spared the fate of the town." she said her hands balling "I wanted to do it but my husband told me if I did due to my training I would kill any opponent I came across and he didn't want us stained like that." she said, she knew magic knights, on the whole, were stronger than normal citizens due to their training because you didn't get into a squad because you had the best smile after all. "He took my place and was..." she trailed off tears falling from her eyes as she couldn't hold them back any longer "he... he as killed by another parent be... because... he... he refused to take the killing blow." her voice was breaking as she spoke this was enough to get Nanami's attention and made her move over quickly the long mantle trailing behind her as she hugged her mother "The daemons spared Nanami due to my husband's action of not taking the killing blow she was supposed to leave town to get help but she refused because she was scared and so they used her but they wouldn't have harmed her." she couldn't understand why it was the only parent that didn't make the killing blow on anyone they fought that had the child spared but nothing about these daemons really made sense to her. "Her markings are due to a trap that she was in that the former group came across, their questions slowly activated the trap and it marked her." she explained to everyone holding her daughter close and protectively Nanami after all was the only thing she had left.
Story:
Charlotte has given you all information on how the citizens are being treated overall, how she and Nanami are being treated differently such as being allowed to see the sun. You now know that the daemons no longer rely on the wells for their power and she suspects the opposite might actually be the case now but has no real way of knowing. You've been notified that the twins for a while but she couldn't tell you why they had done this, she also couldn't tell you about their routine but turned her attention to Valo at that point indicating for him to remain quiet as if the pair share a secret. It seems as if she had managed to procure enough lanterns of the light element for the entire group but has warned they can break so to take care of them. She's let the group know that no matter what they must be very precise and leave no grey spots or chances of loopholes when dealing with them. she also made them aware that there is purple orca within the headquarters and she has been making sure they survive in their current sleeping state. Nanami seemed to panic when Vulkan gave her his mantle making the room almost fill with darkness but Charlotte had put an end to it quickly making it clear she wasn't telling them why it happened and that she wouldn't bend to any request or demand for that information, she was in full mother bear mode on this. She eventually broke down and told why Nanami was protected to the best of her knowledge and how she had lost her husband.
- Where this is a death enabled thread I will not be going out my way to kill characters, the only way this will happen is if silly actions take place on the players side.
- Actions have consequences not only for you but potentially whatever organisation you belong to so think before acting.
- Each round will generally last 3 - 4 days, extensions can be requested but they must come a little in advance and with a decent reason or they will be denied.
- You are not locked into anything until your first post within your thread.
- The event will run on three strikes in regards to skipping rounds. The first time will be a verbal warning and perhaps a trap being set off, the second time I am taking something from you and will set a trap off, third time you will either be removed or killed depending on the reasons for the skips.
- Withdrawing once the event is in full swing without a decent reason will result in your character dying, with a good reason you will be fine and have reduced rewards at the end.
- Any nerfing or buffing of stats/abilities via spell/item etc are not permanent unless otherwise stated and will end at the end of the thread.
- Lydia is flying above the town under orders of the Wizard King, only the captains know and only they can request help
- Lydia is allowed to shoot light into threads once per page, the light will last 2 rounds before vanishing during the 2 rounds of sight character vision will be fully restored
- If two or more characters are below 50% on either mana or health the light will return either 10 mana or 25% of the character's health per round it can not do both.
- During the two round of pure light Lydia will be able to see the town perfect for the most part so can relay information if requested to one group but she must be contacted for that information.
- If a captain in one thread asks for light to be given, the very next round the opposite thread will gain the benefit of the light so use this wisely.
- If Lydia believes someone is doing something stupid after two rounds and if gm permission is asked she can shoot a warning shot at the person in question but not directly hit them.
- Just clarifying Lydia will only take one warning shot at the feet if she believes you are messing up, if she has to shoot at you again you will be taking damage equal to a quarter of your rank. (Juniors will be taking junior damage as will intermediates) If she has to shoot deal with you a third time she is allowed to attempt to knock you out. A warning from the people in the group will always be allowed to be given before Lydia will be allowed to take a shot regardless.
- The lanterns will take on aspects of your element(s), they have a 20m aoe range for everyone but Jett they will give a shield that follows spell rules of the wielders rank. They require x2 hits of the wielders rank to break (x2 grand in Jett's case) Jett being the shield of the kingdom gets a grand rank passive speed boost. These items will either break or will be returned to Charlotte at the end of the event.
- Yes, Valo has information from the last event that he never told anyone and this is the information that Charlotte doesn't want spoken so now he has to make a decision.
[attr="class","vaileshadowsscroll"] Sob stories. That was all they were. [break][break] Vaile said nothing. There was nothing for him to say. No one said anything to him either, and so, it was better that way. Perhaps they had all already decided that his presence wasn’t something necessary for their own goals. All the better. [break][break] Because his goals were his own, and as for what empathic hope that everyone else had in order to, that was their problem. Not his. Not his problem. [break][break]
“That’s quite selfish of you.”
[break] Ah yes, it was always little girls. [break][break] His ghost would make the obvious comment, but it wasn’t his place to care. This wasn’t his crusade, nor his responsibility. For all he cared, the kingdom could have been shrouded in darkness for eternity and it still wouldn’t be his problem. There wasn’t anything great about the light anyway, was there? People could adapt, they certainly had to have done so if they lived in his unfortunate town since the daemons’ occupation. [break][break] People had died. Magic Knights hadn’t succeeded. Daemons turned this corner of the world into their playground. [break][break] Not his problem. [break][break] Information was gathered, sharp ears caught relevant bits. The strength gathered here, potential hostages in the Purple Orca’s base, some special little girl. As he listened, he came to note that another of the group, not wearing the colors of the Knights, took a place in waiting and listening beside him. [break][break] Vaile narrowed crimson eyes. The young man had an aura of Darkness to him, but otherwise, had no other promising potential. Overall, his expression was more soft than somber, for Vaile’s preference. [break][break] Believed in something. Had whispered the name of a girl as they entered. [break][break]
Ah, yes, everyone had some moral obligation to take up that fight, for someone, for something. And in all, he didn’t blame them. Some people needed that and yet he… [break][break] He sighed again, having so little success in searching for the Summoner’s presence. [break][break] Vaile took his lantern politely. The thing glowed some amount of light, making it easier to see in the shadows. And it came with a shield enchantment, how even more generous. [break][break] Stepping away from the house, but not so far, he still kept his ears tilted in the direction, in case anything else of note would be said. But it was now time for him to be more proactive in his search. Vaile’s grimoire floated beside him as he stepped out into the empty street. His shadow mana flared only slightly, allowed just as such because he was employing the use of a spell. [break][break] He certainly wasn’t the best sensory mage, but he had a better grasp upon his mana sensory than perhaps, most of those around him. This was his own benefit, but in any case, it would serve others if they so desired it. [break][break] “Conscienta.” He spoke the name of his spell and the shadows poured forth, [break][break] Where are you? He thought to himself, another part yet wondering if this his search really meant anything at all. Because if he couldn’t find her, that would just have meant… [break][break] Silver hair caught his eyes once again. But his ghost that no one else could see was gone from his view once more. [break][break] Maybe the truth was he wasn’t meant to go after anyone at all. [break][break] Conscienta did its job. The sensory spell took shadows and shaped them in the form of the surrounding town and area. Buildings and layouts, anything else he could have sensed should have been on that map, barring, of course, nothing was actively trying to hide from him. Perhaps traps or the like could have been revealed, but it was all up the air. His radius of sensory range was little over a hundred meters, and if he could still not find her… [break][break] Dots of light did echo the locations of his team, at least of those who didn’t attempt to erase their presence from him, and granted, no one in the group did. Color-coded dots, depending on a mage’s magic would appear concentrated in the building and small town area the group was. And yet, another part of Vaile was unsure if he would have been able to sense anything at all. [break][break] The shadows did consume most everything.
TL;DR Vaile broods a bit more, decides to use a sensory spell to map out the area because he's still searching for espresso depresso. No idea if this will work so yeet lmao. Range of Umbra Conscienta should be 123 m radius if I did my math right.
This perk allows a person to have their AoE spells to have their max size increased by 10 meters + 5 meters per rank they are starting at junior.
[break] Description: Vaile fully concentrates his magical sensory skills on everything around him within a ranged radius, shadow tendrils extend from where she stands and branch out along the ground. They are pure black, thin and have no physical substance. The tendrils can even go unnoticed unless a target has enough sensory to see them, acting similarly to an illusion, they are hidden from a target's sense of sight and further cannot be sensed by an enemies' mana sensory skills unless following the regular seeing through illusion guidelines. He can conjure a 3D model of the surrounding area made of her shadow element, about 5 cubic meters in size. Movements and enemy mana signatures are detected via disturbance in the shadows' extensions, appearing like glowing dots on the map. Vaile can attempt to detect mages or other presences who are hiding their mana signatures from him regarding the normal tracking guidelines. Similarly, Vaile can also attempt to see through illusions following the sensory guidelines.

Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
Despite all the evil happenings that had befell the little girl, she was still able to smile and keep some of her child-like personality. She even had the gall to kick the Green Mantis in the shin. To Genesis, it was a brief moment of respite to see that sign of normalcy. Small, but a relief nonetheless.
Now the hostess was addressing her. It was out of habit that the young woman had called her “ma’am”, but it was interesting to note that Nanami’s mother was not that much older then her. Five or six years? Goodness, she must have gotten married at her age then, seeing how Nanami was around five or six in age. Genesis took the proffered cup of tea from Charlotte and dipped her head in thanks. Though she did not usually drink tea, decided to take a few sips anyways, out of respect for the hostess. It was some sort of sparkling tea, and though she was not sure what it was, it tasted good.
Of course, the daemons would not have made things so easy as to keep the wells in the same places as two months ago, nor would they protect the wells the same way as they did last time. So those dark mana sources might not weaken even if they are destroyed—their informer went so far as to guess that the opposite might happen. So, forceful destruction of those wells might not work now.
Genesis pursed her lips in thought. She was not sure if the others had picked that bit of information up, but her mind was already at work. Would there be a way for them to contain the wells? Or better yet, somehow find a way to cleanse them into something good and beneficial? They would have to figure out their course of action, but she was sure the Purple Orca captain would have some sort of plan.
Lanterns? The shadow mage looked closely at the lantern their hostess brought out. Not only could they give off light for sight, but also had a shield. She chewed on her bottom lip. Yes, her past mistake came to haunt her, but she would not be making that same blunder again. The lantern would definitely keep her in check, and she would take good care of it. In her mind, it is more to keep her from harming others than actual harm upon herself.
The red-haired femme did not miss the ‘hushing’ movement that Charlotte gave to Valo. Her eyebrows raised in suspicion. Hmm? Was there something the Green Mantis knew that he had not shared with them? The original three had an advantage, in that they had an idea of who to trust. In a twisted sense, they could also trust the daemons to uphold their end of the deal, from the deal the vice captain made with them back then. But now, just how much would they trust each other? They had been training together since the last time they were at Kikka, and he was still hiding something from them? If it was true, then that means the only other she could trust slightly more was the dark mage...
Gen put that on the back of her mind, but now Nanami’s mother was warning them of bargaining with the daemons. She was not there in person while the vice captain had made the deal, so she did not actually know the ins and outs of the deal, but the warning made sense. She was also surprised to hear that there were some Purple Orca knights still in the base. She frowned. That would make destroying the well more difficult, as they would have to ensure the knights’ safety while still figuring a way to somehow contain or get rid of that demonic mana source.
"I'm not the one responsible for it."
Responsible for what? All this shadowy oppression?
"Just they said they'd never hurt me so while I'm here they can't destroy the town."
It seemed like the lava mage had been listening intently at her words before, and whether he trusted her was up to him. However, he had chosen to give Nanami his Magic Knight mantle, which came as a surprise to the redhead. From what little she knew about him, the mantle was not just a mantle—it was like a link to his past before the Shattering. Yet here he was, giving it to her. It was a sweet gesture, really, though Nanami seemed spooked by the unexpected action.
The room had dimmed unnaturally, and it felt like a flashback to the graveyard all over again. Genesis immediately called upon her shadows to encircle the room, but Charlotte had rushed over to her daughter’s side and was comforting her. The redhead blinked. What was she doing, trying to fight shadows with shadows? Like it would work. Or could it? One never knows at which kind of ironies life may throw.
"No, I don't want to explain what just happened and I will refuse to say anything even if pushed about it as this is my issue, not yours."
The mother bear mode was clear in Charlotte’s voice, and even Gen was taken aback at the fierceness of it. She was not going to ask...not Nanami or Charlotte anyways. This must be somehow linked to what Valo knew. She made a note to ask him about it later, since she figured that he might not want to share it here in front of the mother and child in question...especially when the mother clearly did not want them to know. At least not in the presence of her daughter.
"Her markings are due to a trap that she was in that the former group came across, their questions slowly activated the trap and it marked her."
The shadow mage’s eyes dropped. Yes, the graveyard incident held many bad memories for her, and the poor girl was the one who bore the tell-tale signs of their failures. But that was in the past. The best thing she could do now to atone for her sins was to do her part in freeing the town from the daemons’ control. True, she was not as weak as she was back then, and she also had items that may help.
The first thing she would probably worry about is the well at the Purple Orca base, though they would have to proceed with caution due to the knights still bound there. Gen now looked to the Purple Orca captain for his command on their next move, if any. If there was, she would start moving out. If not, she would look pointedly at the Green Mantis, intent on questioning him the moment she could.
Regardless of what happened, she would grab the lantern marked out for her. As she did so, the lamp itself molded into her element. Instead of her shadows sniffing the light out, it instead plastered on to form the lamp itself. The red-haired mage cocked her head. Interesting. Perhaps light and shadow really could co-exist together...
Notes & Stuff
Items:Enigmatic Sentry, Daemonic Gifts + Lantern from Charlotte Summary: Tried to absorb all the info Charlotte gave them, became suspicious of Valo, grabbed her lantern
- Nanami has water and permeation (latter like Charlotte) - Those who started rebellion has suffered publicly (not death) - Anyone can see perfectly fine indoors, children can see perfectly fine outdoors - Wells have moved, might grow stronger if destroyed (might need to find another way to get rid of them—flood/contain/cleanse them?) - Daemons don’t depend on the wells for power anymore - Daemons has forced the townsfolk to make and destroy certain buildings (restructuring the town?), increasing their domain to nearby villages - Twins left the city for a while (why, for what?) - Charlotte gave them each a lantern, 20m radius, can be broken, will take on the holder’s element - Time limit of three IC days - Only Valo knows Nanami’s secret IC - Must be very specific when bargaining with the daemons - Daemons treat Nanami like a princess (use that to our advantage? Cannot use her as pawn though...according to Charlotte) - Two or three Purple Orca knights in base, sleeping beauty style, Nanami sent to keep them alive, Charlotte offers to help afterwards with her herbalist and doctor skills - PO may need to give up some squad secrets to destroy the well in the PO base, but there are 3 knights down there - Vulkan gave Nanami his mantle, she got spooked and room dimmed, Charlotte went to comfort her daughter - Must not let Nanami get spooked/panic or she will _____ - Charlotte explained how her husband died, broke down, and also explained how Nanami got those markings

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans would just stand there and take in the information that Nanami's mother would give. It was odd how the daemons were treating the citizens here, or at least to Hans it was. They provided them with the stuff necessary for them to thrive, not starving or even slaughtering them. Even the ones that chose to rebel were not punished by death, but rather to suffer in public. To Hans, being tortured seems to be a fate worse than death...which is something he would know.
It appears that not only were the wells moved from their original locations for the most part, but they don't seem to have the same effect when being destroyed anymore? That was an unsettling thought, especially with the theory of them potentially making the daemon's stronger if destroyed.
Continuing to listen to Charlotte speak, Hans' head perked up slightly as she revealed some special looking lanterns. They held a magical property to them, but not just any magic...
"Light lanterns..." He repeated under his breath. Were these made with a light element? If so, Hans might have to be careful when wielding it. He wasn't sure if his magic could potentially negate the lanterns own given the relationship between his element and light. It's just a theory however since the man did not know the ins and outs of this magical item, but it would be better to remain cautious.
"Thanks." Hans would say as he went over, and lifted up one of the lanterns, inspecting it a little closer. The dark mage then turned, and took notice of secret interaction between Charlotte and Valo. The man furrowed his brows a little before glancing at Gen, but the man chose to stay quiet since he was one of the last people to try and make a scene. There appears to be something that the fire mage was holding from the group, and Hans wasn't exactly sure how to feel about it. Having trained with these two, and bonded a bit, Hans felt that this was something he wasn't going to have to worry about...but perhaps he was wrong? Of course, Hans isn't a stranger to keeping secrets himself especially with the things he use to do.
Valo could keep his secrets if he wishes to, but Hans couldn't help but feel a little wary about him now...and the redhead as well considering how close those two are.
Speaking of sketchy looking folks...
From the corner of his eye, Hans watched as that Valentine person took a lantern and stepped out. Other than himself, and Gen, he was the only other person within this group not bound to a mantle, leaving his intentions up in the wind.
Hans would then leave out of the home with lantern in hand, missing the events that occurred with Nanami inside. Just as he walked out, the dark mage saw the map spell the other shadow mage formed, making a shadowy replica of the town, or at least part of it. "Scouting out for any traps?" Hans would ask before he stopped walking. He looked at the man, but the shadow mage was hard to read...like a true enigma. It sort of reminds Hans of himself back in his early days as a mercenary, but has started to soften up since then due to various reasons. The merc use to be almost emotionless, barely speaking a word...but he feels that this Valentine fellow may be a bit more complex than that...

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo was just a bit to anxious to take a seat, but he did place his arms on the table and lean forward. His eyes darting back between Nanami and Charlotte, but mostly Charlotte as she was going to do most of the talking and explaining. But a light kick to the shin from Nanami broke his focus for a bit, she was really short and Valo was pretty tall so whenever she was upset with him she would kick his shin. It felt familiar but it did still hurt a bit. "Tch. Owe." he said out loud rubbing one hand over her shin. Nanami was upset over what he said, and she explained herself fully. The words that Valo needed to hear out loud, though he tried to tell himself he didn't fail he couldn't break the mindset that he did. Now the little one who was the most in danger seemed the wisest, reassuring him that it was not a failure. A small smile appeared on his face it was nice to know that someone still believed. "Thanks. Nanami." he said simply truly embracing her words.
He then got a surprising hug from Charlotte with her stating she knew he was going to fail, it left him quite a bit confused but he stayed silent and listened. And she was right. He wouldn't have believed her not at all, he would have done the same thing if she said something the first time. He was stubborn like that. Once he decided on something little to nothing would change his mind. Charlotte knew that as well. Valo took a breath in and let it out, as he listened closely to what she was saying.
A wealth of information was shared from Charlotte, her experience as a magic knight was showing as she hit almost every point and then some. People who tried to rebel were punished, that wasn't surprising. The people that lost their lives knew the chances and they gave their lives to do so willingly. Valo still wished it didn't have to happen, but he can't change whats already be done. It just another thing to add to the list for the reasons these daemons had to be taken care of. She also stated children could see perfectly outside, because of Nanami. The next bit of info was very important, the wells have not only been moved but now they might not prove effective. "Tch." Valo sucked his teeth, they were going to need another way to defeat these things.
Valo raised an eyebrow when she brought out some lanterns, magical items that would not only help them see in the darkness but provide shields just in case things got a little hectic. "You always got some pretty cool stuff." Valo said in response to receiving a lantern. He took hold of it and the element inside lit up a bright blue flame, mirroring his fire element now.
After Nanami's panic attack Valo took a few steps forward the mother and daughter. There was no fear or confusion in his eyes, he was close to the pair and knew he had nothing to fear. "Charlotte you have nothing to fear, no one here would even think of hurting either one of you. Nor put Nanami in anymore danger. You have my word, I would never let that happen." Valo said to attempt to reassure her. The reason he didn't speak of what Nanami told him a few months ago, seeing what the little girl had been through already Valo wouldn't let her be used or questioned by anyone it didn't matter who it was. He wouldn't betray the trust of Nanami or Charlotte. If anyone wanted to question him on this, he wouldn't hesitate to give his honest answer.

WORD COUNT: 632 TOTAL WC: 2,425 ITEMS: Kolivan's Lantern火之迦具土 Hinokagutsuchi BATTLE: Lots of stuffs. Keep it short. Valo listened to all the info taking it in. After Nanami had her reaction, Valo walked up to them to reassure them. SPELLS:
[attr="class","jettcomscroll"] Jett watched the various interactions between the group and Charlotte and her daughter, Nanami, closely. A small smile creeping upon his face upon each of the actions took by the little girl that made her seem wise beyond her very early years. Though the diamond mage shouldn’t have been surprised given the personality of her mother, passing on her better traits to the next generation. Charlotte wasn’t able to answer the group's questions, though not through the lack of trying, simply not having the answers they required or withholding them for the safety of her daughter. While Jett knew the information could’ve helped them immensely in their upcoming battle, he also understood that asking a mother to choose between their child and Clover, there was only ever going to spell bad news for the Kingdom. [break][break] Still, it wasn’t as though the information was cut off from them completely, Valo seemingly knowing something as the ex orca singled for him to keep quiet. Most surprising about the entire conversation was in response to Jett’s false bravado, while he knew she would most likely see past it, he wasn’t expecting the response. Not only would he not be able to save Kikka within the day, Charlotte was expecting it to take him at least three. It wasn’t the first time he’d been involved in a marathon like battle but it was the first time alongside allies, he hoped things would play out a lot better than the last time. [break][break] As resourceful as every, the group were presented with light imbued lanterns by the mother, with a passive effect of protecting each of the group but it seemed Jett’s was slightly different. Due to his reputation in defensive magic, his lantern would instead make him lighter on his feet a welcome addition that he was extremely grateful for as he picked up the lantern and tied it to his belt. ”Thanks Charlotte, these will prove valuable in many ways.” There were still more surprising to come however, as Vulkan paid more attention to the little girl rather than her mother. His actions, while harmless and obviously well meaning, seemed to have the opposite effect as the dumbfounded girl struggled to comprehend the golden dawn mage’s intentions. While Namami’s reaction was innocent enough, the effects were felt by everyone as the darkness encroached into the house, sparking Charlotte into action, calming her daughter down. [break][break] As they watched on, Charlotte preemptively responding to the incoming questions, refusing to answer. A slight cold sweat broke upon Jett, watching the little girl he realised that something was very wrong despite the girl continuing on like nothing had happened. Normally calm, Jett’s anger boiled, his fist clenching until his knuckles become white as his ex orca explained what the demons had done to the townsfolk, and to her husband in particular. Standing to his feet, Jett addressed Charlotte ”No more harm will come to your family. You have my word I’ll make sure that happens and I make sure everyone in this room makes sure that happens too.” The captain wasn’t giving off false bravado anymore, his words were his intentions and he’d make sure every mage in the group would play their part.

Combat Summary
[attr="class","jettcomscroll2"]
tl;drJett said words, stood up and said more words.
[attr="class","textie"]Vulkan just smiled at the little girl when she "panicked" to him it just reminded him of when he was younger. He had almost burned down his house because he got angry that his mother told him that he couldn't have any cookies so late in the night. Though before he lost control Alphonse tazed him with his lightning magic lightly to get the boys ire. Then they would go outside, and fight, and Vulkan would wind up face down in the dirt as he often did when he sparred the old Butler. She however was doing her best to protect everyone so he listened to the way she spoke to the others. She was strong this one, and when he became Captain of the Golden Dawn this girl would be his first pick if she ever entered the Magic Knight exams. Slowly he let the heat that always accompanied him swirl around the little girl, a warm summer breeze drifting over her, out of a place in a place as dour as this.
When she apologized he just smiled at her as if he didn't notice anything.
"You panicked? From my point of view you are doing the opposite...To remain so strong, and smiling in this sort of situation...That is what heroes do..." his voice was calm, there was a gentle warmth to it. Vulkan wanted answers, and only this little girl could give him the information he wanted. The chosen one of the Daemons. "You are wrong...I am not a noble at all...I was raised in Kiten by my Mother. I worked hard, and when the Magic Knight Exams came around I got chosen to join the Golden Dawn, by Captain Arthurius at the time..." his smile never faltered for a second as he took the little tea cup she gave him, and he sipped it, sticking his pinky out hoping to make the girl laugh.
"So if I can do it...I believe you can to...As for that robe." he reached out to tug it over her a bit more so it would fit right on her tiny frame or at least as best as it could. "I'm going to be fighting you see with all the people in this room...And the two outside. It is precious to me, very much so, which is why I want you to protect it for me." he nodded to her, and he took another sip. "It's a promise that I will see you again, so don't lose it okay?" he chuckled warmly, the emotion returning to his voice for a brief moment.
"I think you've done a splendid job protecting the town as you have to the best of your ability. It's not an easy thing to do, but we are here now, so I hope that is enough to ease your worries." he thought to himself as he sat down in front of the little girl on the floor not caring to use a seat. "Though I have just realized I've not introduced myself...I am Vulkan...It is nice to meet you Nanami." his teal eyes rested on the little girls face as he etched her into his memory. You never knew when you were going to see someone for the last time, so he liked to remember everyone as thoroughly as he could. Tapping his cheek he tilted his head to her.
"Nanami I know we just met, but I did want to know, you know your way around the town pretty well, yes? I remember when I was a boy I would run all over Kiten, hiding in places that would take Alphonse forever to find me. Are there any dangerous areas we should avoid? People in trouble that you know of that we can save? Adults don't look at things the same way kids do...You could say that as we get older, our imagination gets worse, so could you help me? What have you seen?" he asked the girl sincerely as he kept the little tea cup in his grip, not reaching for his lantern yet. Somethings were more important than rushing out to find a fight right away, and having a tea party in a town taken over by Daemons was more important right now.
The doll-like mage took a seat at the table as it was offered she closed her eyes as she seemed to go into a somewhat of a meditative state, this wasn't exactly what she was doing, in fact, she was able to actually block out distractions and pick up on things she might otherwise miss. She could, of course, do this with her eyes open just there were just too many variables that she would easily miss things given the situation and she wasn't about to do that if she could help it. She so far had deduced the type of warfare they had used during the time they had taken the town, she knew from what she had read from the reports she was allowed to see that the former vice-captain of the green mantis had been defeated by the leader in one on one combat though didn't know the ins and outs of it. It would have been something that may have helped her but unfortunately, only captains and higher had been privy to such information to her understanding. She heard a teacup being put in front of her opening her eyes she smiled and bowed her head much like she did when at home "Thank you." she said gently before closing her eyes as she started to taking in the information and making a timeline and trying to put the puzzle that was shadow daemon together but no matter how much she tried there were just so many pieces that made absolutely no sense to her. From everything, she could get her hands on while growing and from the horror stories her parents had told her and her elder brother they weren't like any other of their kin. [break][break] 'These daemons are enigmatic wrapped in a bow of mystery.' she thought to herself, there was no need to voice her opinion on this as the others likely came to the same conclusion or something similar to it. They had given the citizens everything they needed to survive which made sense as what is the point of a domain without subjects, after all, they had only punished people who rebelled not killed them outright like many would have likely done, again this made sense as a fear tactic as you can punish people in many ways and it would still hold the intended effect while people would eventually grow desensitised to death. She had to admit the leader of these daemons was smart and knew exactly what he was doing which was far scarier than the daemon she had come across within Raque. That daemon had pretended to be attacked by one of her own servants to make her seem like a victim and for a long time that is what the entire group believed her to be but then she had noticed so many red flags that she gave off and informed as many as she could about it. She had even told her senior Cyrus and was made to believe that she had been overreacting as people did react to things in different ways. Where this was true she had been in ice-cold water and hadn't shaken, she was completely apathetic to the death around her and the suffering of man Hino herself had spent a good amount of time trying to stabilize. Even when the man was stabilized she wanted to leave him behind almost like she was concerned about him telling her secret, in fact, the only time she showed any emotion was the fear that crossed her face when she was informed that the Golden Dawn's senior was on his way to give them reinforcements and take the group to safety. In honesty, she had no idea why her senior thought she was overreacting as he hadn't been there the entire time while she had been and she wasn't one for telling tall tales. [break][break] From what she could tell some of the information they had been given previously by the group was now outdated, they no longer would weaken the enemy but their host believed it might actually do the opposite which made things trickier given that part of their task while here was to get rid of the infernal things. It seemed as if there had been reconstruction in some places, not like that was unexpected given that they likely wanted to live lavish like conquers after all they had taken dominion of a tactical stronghold for the kingdom so that was right out of the cliche book in her opinion. It was interesting that they felt so confident that an attack wouldn't come sooner than this day that they had actually left the town to do who knew what. She went over in her mind why this was so important to mention, it's not like they could just pop into the next city to do some clothes shopping and go back home again and so far it had seemed like everything they had done had a reason to it, they weren't so stupid to have left Kikka unguarded without reason as they couldn't know that it would take this long, there had to be some sort of reason the two left and it was bothering her she couldn't work it out. It then dawned on her as she quickly opened her eyes and looked to Jett "Sir, what if they left to gather information?" she asked the most senior member there, it was the only logical thing that made sense after all what had they themselves done for the last two months? They prepared and gathered as much information as they could on their enemy, the first thing they had done when meeting Genesis, Valo and Hans was asked questions to gain more information and even now they were asking Charlotte and her daughter more questions to fill in the information they still might not know. [break][break] 'They would be trying to gain as much information on those that may come to reclaim, it's the only logical reason to leave.' she was raised by tacticians and though she hated war and anything to do with it she was still taught such things as it would server her growing up or so her parents told her and her brother. She had no idea if she was right, this was complete speculation but she thought she may as well throw the idea out on the table and see what the seniors of the group thought of it. The worst that would happen is they dismissed her and moved on but what if she hadn't spoken up and was indeed right about it. It was then that seven lanterns were shown to the group, there was one for each of them that came with the rare light element, they must have cost a pretty penny but it wasn't like you could live in Kikka if you didn't have money in some parts of it like the small estate they currently were sitting within. "Thank you but I think it might be a bad idea for me to take one." she said hearing that they would take aspects of their magics, given hers if she took one then she would likely put them in danger thanks to the elements and the oddity she had been born with. A trail of petals may have been good in the right situation but she doubted romance was in the air. [break][break] It was odd the way this woman spoke to Jett and Valo was almost as if she had a sixth sense about things as if she knew what was going to happen ahead of time. She had no idea if this was because of her magic or something otherworldly but it did catch her interest but right now that wasn't important. What was important was gaining the information needed to get rid of the daemons. It was now that she picked up the tea that had been poured for her and drank some, she didn't want to be rude to her hostess as it was bad etiquette due to how she was raised. It had a unique flavour to it, it wasn't overly sweet yet it did taste refreshing at least to her although she wasn't sure if this was the case to everyone who had drunk some only time would tell she guessed. She had often read of other cultures and nations finding folklores, myths, legends and their histories fascinating. She had indeed heard about the Djinn and she guessed it was a good comparison to the daemons. She remembered reading how many people would mistake the djinn for genies and it never worked out well in the end for the one who made the mistake and these beings were just as dangerous although they likely wouldn't be offering to grant any wishes other than servitude or death but so far they hadn't been running the same way as any other daemon recorded so perhaps she may have been overthinking things as she normally did when it came to this kind of thing. [break][break] Soon a piece of information she hadn't known before was spoken "A vice-captain made a deal with a daemon?" she asked unable to believe such a thing would have happened, she could understand wanting to protect as much innocent life as possible but even someone like her wouldn't have made such a deal. There had been too much relying on the group and the chances are the daemon never gave the full terms until the deal was made so he could have asked for anything. Then there was also the fact that whatever the deal was for in no way was more important than the kingdom as a whole, the lives of the many outweighed the few or so the saying went. It was war and as much as she hated it casualties and death were common in such situations. She had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she hadn't even noticed that Hans and Vaile had collected their lanterns and went outside to do whatever it was they believed they had to do, she just hoped that they remained close. Even Charlotte who was far older than she was and likey lore experienced too said these daemons weren't acting like normal ones so at least she was on the right train of thought in that regard. She explained how she and her daughter were more treated like lesser nobles than how everyone else had been treated at least from what she could gather, there was so much going against this child but it could be a red herring but at the same time she seemed so important to them, there had to be a reason as to why this was the case. "Is there more to the story you aren't telling us miss?" she asked watching for even the smallest micro-movement or expression she might give off. [break][break] She had moved on to the Purple Orca's base and how there were many that were still within though they had all been put in some sort of slumber and left to die of dehydration and starvation by the daemons. Yet another savvy yet unusual move, it was almost as if these daemons didn't actually have a taste for blood, it was actually the opposite it seems like they would try and avoid death as much as possible even when it came to their enemies. Again, she may have been overthinking on this since it could be a sadistic ploy but going with everything she had heard thus far it honestly seemed as if they wanted dominion and to just continue on as if everything was normal otherwise, perhaps this was the true reason Kikka had fallen to the darkness, everyone that had been here originally went on the stereotypical cliche of a daemon and likely went in with the mentality of a tank and spank but these daemons had always been precise avoiding death where needed while simultaneously allowing harm to befall people when needed or warranted to further their goals or to get points across. They really were playing the long game and due to their tactics, this made them a far more dangerous foe but so far from what they had been told these daemons would never take the killing blow; so it made her wonder if the rumours of the former vice-captain being dead were true or not as if she wasn't perhaps the rumours were to help her family and squad save face but even there had it been widely known that she made the deal she had her family would be disgraced and it would call the loyalties of the green mantis into question most likely. [break][break] The doll-like mage didn't really know much about Kikka, the purple orca or their headquarters. She did, however, know that this was a tactical position for the kingdom and had some of the strongest defences coming only second to the royal capital which made sense as she did know the purple orca specialised in defence. She remembered her father talking about how to attempt a siege on the squad's headquarters in some sort of wargame scenario but it seemed like it would be a difficult fight. She had no idea if changes had been made since then as this had been years before she even had her grimoire. Soon enough she was brought out of her thoughts once more when the light from the room quickly lowered her eyes looked around as if expecting an attack but none came, in fact, their hostess was holding her child soothing her. There was something between this girl and the darkness though she couldn't put her finger on it and it was bothering her. The child had her seniors mantle around her shoulders and she guessed that might have been the triggering factor but she would have to ask him about it later but right now was neither the time nor the place for such talks. Charlotte soon came back and in a tone, only a mother could give told them that she wouldn't speak on what happened this was her cross to bear and had nothing to do with them. she then recounted what had happened the day the daemons arrived within the town and her loss this only made her suspicions more worrisome. "I am a pacifist and would do no harm to a child miss, in all honesty, I doubt any of us would do anything bad to a child regardless of their background, what may have befallen them or even their race but I must ask is there any more to the story of why she was picked?" she asked respectfully which she knew would likely catch the mother off guard, she hadn't asked about what had happened but honed in on that there might be more to the tale that she was withholding from the group that led to this point. She looked over to her senior and the little girl seeing they were happily having a chat and a tea party so looked forward towards Charlotte "I understand that this will be insensitive and likely a very uncomfortable topic but I still need to ask it, I will accept any punishment you deem fit if it does offend you but..." she paused for a moment "Did she pass on too? Was that why she was picked?" she asked, gods she knew this was likely insensitive and was fully willing to accept the hit if it came. She knew strong enough healing magic could resurrect a person from the dead and they chose someone's child who showed mercy over someone who took the killing blow if everything that made sense no longer made sense then it was only logical that the opposite was what it could have been. [break][break] Soon enough Valo spoke up and gave Charlotte reassurance when she had been hugged by her daughter who had heard her mother weeping and tried her best to help comfort her before it seemed like she was sent off to play once more allowing the adults to talk. The next who would speak up was the normally very stoic purple orca captain who told the woman that no more harm would befall her family and that he would make sure of it and make sure that everyone in the room would do the same. She had no idea what use she would be on that one, sure her healing had got stronger since Raque but she still had a long way to go before it would be of any real use to people. She was still curious as to what her senior was doing but knew that information would be given to her at a later point, for now however she concentrated on their hostess. It was then she decided to ask again since everyone seemed to have ignored her the first time "I know this is a tense time but does anyone have communication spells or equipment? It would help us check in with the other group and allow us to share information that we've gathered while perhaps making a plan." she said hoping that this time that people would actually answer her.
Charlotte looked at the small interaction between Valo and her own child and shook her head, Nanami had always been a spirited girl and it wouldn't change anytime soon it would seem. When she was frustrated with the Green Mantis she had always pouted unless she wanted to make a point then she had had always kicked him in the shin. It was almost like a brother-sister rivalry at times and she found it endearing. Valo wasn't her son but she had always tried to care for him as such when needed and if not as a mother bear definitely as an overbearing aunt. "I see that hasn't changed Valo." she chuckled watching as he rubbed his shin. She knew how hard it was to break certain mindsets and how the words had to be spoken by a third party before that cycle of despair would slowly ebb. To think two short months ago her daughter was a happy, smiling and bubbly little girl but this had caused her to grow quicker than she would have honestly have liked right down to speaking as someone beyond her years. Then again Nanami had never been babied, she had always been spoken to as a grown-up unlike many of her own peers who still got baby talked to by their parents. She was raised with stories of the diamond war and daemons so she already knew of some of the darkest evils in the world and what their own kin would do to each other, it wasn't something she'd want to have taught a child but it was also something she believed was needed for times like these.
Charlotte smiled at Valo's compliment of how she always seemed to have cool stuff, she couldn't deny it but she always tried her best to prepare for what might be needed one way or another. "Shame on you Valo, you know what I'm like." she chuckled giving him a playful scolding, she wanted to uplift the current problems and try and make things seem as normal as possible it was how she herself was coping with the trauma that she had been going through, she still hadn't mourned her husband but there would be time for that later, right now she needed to be the strength of others and even to her own daughter. She gave a weak smile when Valo had given his reassurance and nodded "Thank you. Valo, I trust your words but my instincts as a mother still have me air on the side of caution right now even with you. Please don't take any offence to that." her words were gentle as she spoke, she cared for the youth like her own family but Nanami was her main priority right now and she knew if anyone knew her secrets she would either be used in the fight against the daemons or she would end up with her father for something that she couldn't help. She hoped he would understand why she couldn't and knew he could trust them not to betray a child that had already been through so much in her young life regardless of what it meant in the long run.
She nodded as Jett spoke about them being helpful, she knew the man wouldn't push his luck between making her choose between the kingdom and her child because he already knew which would win. The fact she walked away from the squad she had dedicated most her teenage life and some of her early twenties too proved that the moment she found out she was pregnant with Nanami. She hoped that one day she would be able to return but that wouldn't be until her daughter was ready to leave the nest herself. "Of course, I'm happy to help save my home in any way I can that doesn't put Nanami at risk." she said with a warm tone, she was still a magic knight at her core and saving her home with small subtle rebellions was more likely to go unpunished than if she did what many others had in the last two months. She was caught completely off guard as what would be her captain if she was still a night seemed to get angry at everything that had transpired within their hometown, she couldn't blame him the Purple Orca's headquarters were in this town. Even for her, it felt like a personal failure and she was in the town as it was happening so she could only imagine how he was feeling as he hadn't been there to even attempt it from getting this far. She knew a lot of magic knights had been misplaced and had forgotten things since the shattering so he was likely trying to find things he lost and she couldn't blame him, no one could have foreseen Kikka's downfall given its defensive prowess. "I know you are a man of your word captain and when the light shines within the town once more I foresee a festival for a new beginning." she said knowing after everything that happened it would be the one thing that would be needed for everyone given how bad moral would have been.
Charlotte had taken note of the young female golden dawn mage, it would seem like when she had been quiet she had been attempting to put the pieces of the puzzle together before giving what she believed was the most logical reasoning. "I would have to agree after all a good offence is a better defence." she calmly stated as Nanami moved back to her tea party with the male of the golden dawn and her Artemis doll. "She would have fit right in with us if you ask me, captain, perhaps she being wasted at the golden dawn." she chuckled in jest, she was sure the young woman had been chosen for a reason to join the golden dawn and so would be an asset to the group when needed. When she declined the use of a lantern she looked somewhat perplexed but was sure the young woman had her reasons after all some magics had disadvantages to them even on items such as these. She was taken aback when it seemed not everyone was aware of everything that had transpired but she guessed it would make sense, of course, Artemis would likely have been removed from her squad and placed within prison until her fate was determined but it wouldn't exactly be a well-known piece of news "Yes, she done it to save some children that had been badly hurt." she informed her but didn't go any further than that as she didn't want any distrust within the group, she didn't need the foresight to see that nothing good would be sewen from the seeds of mistrust and suspicion.
The next question caught her off guard, of course, there was more but it wasn't like she wanted to add more given it put her daughter at risk and the kingdom could be shrouded in eternal darkness if it kept her only treasure in this life safe. "Yes, there is more but I will not speak of it as I said." she replied calmly she could understand the reason for the question and was glad that they all tried to comfort her but she still couldn't take the chance Nanami was the last link to her late husband and the only reason her home was treated as well as it was she couldn't risk it on any level, she felt guilty for withholding the information and it was written not only on her face but within her eyes. Had it been anything else but Nanami she would have sung like a canary but unfortunately for them, it was her child and her maternal instincts took priority over that even of her sworn duty to the kingdom she loved so much. The girl had asked if Nanami had passed away if that had been the reason she had been picked tears instantly started falling it was almost as she felt the girl could see something most others would have missed "She tried to protect her father, she was struck..." she whispered her voice breaking as she spoke "We brought her up to choose her battles, to protect those who couldn't protect themselves..." her eyes went to her daughter who was happily drinking out of her small teacup having her tea party "The woman brought her back saying it wasn't her time to enter her graveyard, that she still had use." she clenched her hands so tightly that her knuckles didn't just turn white but her nails dug into her palms drawing blood "I owe a daemon for my daughter's continued existence." she confessed, it hurt her that she knew that fact "What makes it worse, I don't care that I am indebted to them. Nanami is here. She's happy and safe." she felt the bile turn her stomach as she knew no one in their right mind would ever confess to such a thing but it was the truth of the matter "And in honesty if they asked me a request I would grant it to them for the gift they gave to me but the only thing they've done is told me to care for her." she was so confused but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Meanwhile, at the kiddies table tea party, Vulkan and Nanami seemed to be getting a bit more now that she had calmed down. The young girl listened to the silver-haired man pouring him a new cup of tea "That's why it got dark." she said before chewing on her bottom lip, she knew it was something that she shouldn't talk about but still she couldn't help it. "Mummy says that the best way to fight the darkness is to smile so the light can find us again so I'll keep smiling for everyone so the light can find Kikka." said with a grin, it was clear she kept her childish innocence even with everything she had been through and still going through as the moments went passed after all she was now marked by the darkness and that was something she would likely never be rid of but it hadn't really seemed to phase her "I hope one day I can meet Mr Wizard King and Mr Wizard King Advisor and have a tea party with them." she giggled thinking that would be a great experience, "Mummy says they're super important people so not to be disappointed if it doesn't happen but to be positive because I never know." she said with a happy tone she couldn't help but shake her head at being called a hero "No, that's what Mr Captain Orca and you are..." she said handing him his cup "You're really strong and important and going to help Valo save home." she said it was as simple as that to her, she had no idea just how much a part she was playing in this whole game but her childish innocence wouldn't allow it.
"I know Kiten, mommy and daddy took me there when the snow first fell it was so pretty." she said looking down at the table "I don't know if I'm going to be able to see it again but I'll always have the memories so that's important." she said with a sad smile. "I thought only nobles got picked by the golden dawn, I feel silly now." she said trying to hide her sadness with a giggle. "You must be really gifted if you got picked, only the best get in there." she knew that much was true or at least that's what her mother had been teaching her. She watched as he drank the tea even sticking out his pinky giggling harder seeing it and watched as he covered her more with his mantle as he told her just how important it was to him and because of that he wanted her to look after it for him and that it was a promise that they'll see each other again. All she could do was nod in understanding and held it close to her almost protectively. "Okay." she said listening to him "I've just been playing and having bad things said to me and things thrown at me." she looked down almost ashamed and scared, she loved her home with everything she was but now she was being treated by an outcast by people she thought of as friends and her mother's friends. She hadn't asked to be picked nor had she asked for what was done to her but it was what had happened and now she had to deal with the aftermath of it all. "Mummy says when the light returns we'll be leaving home." she bit her bottom lip and fidgeted it was clear she felt guilty that they had to leave because of her even though she was told that wasn't the case she knew deep down it was. "Hello Mr Vulkan it's nice to meet you too." she said looking to him as he sat on the floor blinking not understanding why he'd do that instead of sitting on a seat.
It was then he asked a question about if she knew the town well and she nodded "I know the town better than anyone but that's because I can make maps and I can remember things only after seeing them once." she said it was something she was proud of but she often had been called a cheat because of it. She placed her hands together and parted them as if she was opening a book revealing a very crude map spell. It looked cartoony and almost as if it had been scribbled by a child. She then pointed to the map "Here and here are were the naughty people that rebelled are being punished... um... these three places here are very, very dangerous... This place is super dangerous because that is the person that took over has built a shadow palace... um... here, here, here and here are where the wells are." she said starting to point at places over her crude map "The lady remains in the purple orca base because she made a promise to Valo and his friend... I'm not sure about the man he moves around often but he'll likely be somewhere near a library, he likes to read." she said before leaning in and pointing at her map as some things were moving around "Bad things are coming... One from the north, three from the east, three from the west, three from the south." she said pointing to the moving coloured circles of water. "Mummy won't let me go out when they go by... be careful they're lesser daemon and mana beasts." she said looking to the group
The two outside would be completely unaware of the goings-on inside and the threat that even with the light you can't sense them coming and so everyone is caught flatfooted due to them having their mana signatures hidden. The first time the two would be aware would be the screeching and groaning of whatever was coming their way and they were coming quickly.
Story:
More information has been given to the group and though three of the group have tried to assure Charlotte that she and Nanami will come to no harm she is refusing to take any risks when it comes to her daughter. She did let it be known that Nanami had died trying to protect her father and was revived by Lilitu and if the daemons were to collect the debt she would happily pay it even if it meant betraying the kingdom given what they gave her back. Nanami and Vulkan, however, had a small tea party where Nanami gave him some information and her hopes to one day have a tea party with Samson and Jagen it was near the end she showed that there were things quickly approaching the group. The enemies have hidden their mana signatures and are coming from all four directions because of this no one feels them coming until its too late.
[attr="class","vaileshadowsscroll"] Why couldn’t he find her? Was it some lack of ability? Was this all just a missed opportunity? What had he done so wrong that he couldn’t find her? That he wasn’t allowed to? [break][break] Desperate thoughts invaded his mind, even as he focused on creating his map, on sensing out everything that he could, searching for one hint of where she was. [break][break] Or wasn’t. [break][break] If she wasn’t there at all, that would have been better, wouldn’t it? He could find her somewhere else, somewhere far away from this ungodly madness that unsettled him to the core. [break][break] "Scouting out for any traps?" [break][break] That boy again. Hans. The other mage only broke his concentration slightly. In the dark, he was like a figure without form, but Vaile sensed the man’s mana and on the map, he appeared right next to himself. The two were in front of the building, where several other presences were gathered inside. [break][break] Vaile raised his head slightly, but didn’t move his eyes from his created map. [break][break] “Perhaps, if there are any to be found.” He said simply. Smaller dots signified villagers, gathered mostly in the other buildings in the area. But there was nothing out of the ordinary, save for the darkness that consumed everything in sight. No mana signatures he specifically recognized or saw a threat, it was troubling. Too troubling. There was nothing. [break][break] It was troubling, seeing nothing. Unseen to the other mage, Vaile grip tightened, turning white-knuckled as fingernails dug into his palm. [break][break] Nothing. [break][break] Ungodly screeching finally broke him out. He turned to Hans, a look of concern plastered of his face. Vaile looked to his map again, seeing nothing. They couldn’t sense them, they couldn’t see them. [break][break] “We’ve got company.” Vaile grimaced once more, his mana flared up, just enough to announce his presence and his intention to use more magic. [break][break] He looked to the darkness mage once again. With a wave of his hand, Vaile muttered another spell. “Aviarius.” The young man would feel shadows creep onto his back, then sprouting into a pair of raven’s wings. “You’ll move faster with this.” [break][break] “Altus Avis.” Vaile said again, from beside him a giant raven of shadow formed. Hopping atop, turned back to Hans. “I can’t sense them, likely no one else in the group will be able to either.” As he mounted his Raven, his map of shadows would follow to float just beside him. [break][break] Vaile eyed the signatures around them, the mana signals of townsfolk still mingled around. If he couldn’t see or sense the enemy, he could still sense were those who weren’t the enemy. And wouldn’t those who weren’t beasts still react to them if they were there? [break][break] Vaile ordered his Raven to fly up, straight up. The speed of the grand spell would be unmatched for the moment, as he perched himself a little above the town, roughly 50 meters. Still within range to keep track of Hans with his magic. [break][break] But as his map still proved just as useless to him, all these signatures and he couldn’t sense the monsters. [break][break] All these signatures and he still couldn’t find the one he was looking for. [break][break]
“What if you’re too late?”
[break]
“Gladiolas.” The sword formed in his hand and he held it tight. There was no reason for her to be here. No reason for her to tell him just how inadequate he was, he always had been and always will be. No reason for her to whisper words like that in his ears. No reason for her to be there at all. [break][break] Gladiolas summoned more blades of shadow, totaling 5 altogether. They floated beside him in the air, circling around like bars to a cage. [break][break] “Where are you?”
TL;DR Vaile still can't find espresso depresso (Verena) and now he can't sense enemies coming and so he has an existential crisis but a tiny one. He gives Hans some wings and then yeets up into the sky and makes some swords because he likes wasting mana. Range of Umbra Conscienta should be 123 m radius if I did my math right.
Commander is applying to Vaile + Hans so +2 to all stats to both of them because (gg) Vaile thinks that Hans is a cool angsty guy
Fast Lane:Transportation spells may give an additional 5 meters a second faster than normal. Once they become Grand rank this increases to 10 meters a second.
[break] Description: Vaile creates a pair of raven’s wings extending from the small of his back. From tip to tip the wingspan is 5 meters long, with shadow 'feathers' appearing to constantly wither and fall from them. The wings appear to be made of solid shadow and grant Vaile independent flight ability, also increasing their maneuverability and overall speed. Besides creating wings for himself, he is able to create wings for allies and other targets, however, they must remain within his range. The maximum number of wings Vaile can create is equal to the normal passenger number for a senior transportation spell (5).
Transportation spells may give an additional 5 meters a second faster than normal. Once they become Grand rank this increases to 10 meters a second.
[break] Description: Vaile summons a giant raven made of solid shadow. The raven appears like a giant creature of pure darkness, with a wingspan of over 20 m. Is it able to fly freely through the air and can remain intact as long as it is within Vaile's range. The raven is meant to serve as main transportation for Vaile and his allies, with its main body big enough to support a maximum of 10 passengers. More ravens may be created according to ammo rules, with passengers split across the ravens (never exceeding more than 10). While flying, it appears to leave a trail of withering and dissipating feathers of pure shadow.
This perk allows a person's spells to naturally move 5 m/s faster than normal, this increases to 10 m/s at grand rank.
[break]Description: Using his shadow element, Vaile creates a giant-sized longsword, a double-edged straight sword. The blade length is 2 m, 75 cm wide, with a large two handed grip. The giant blade is able to cause major [Senior] Rank damage, which is lethal at a direct hit, can shatter and break bones, slice major/severe cuts, and destroy most non-magical structures. Vaile controls the blade remotely within a range area or he can shoot it off to slice or fire at an enemy from a distance. Vaile is able to create an additional sword per ammo rules.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans watched the shadow mage perk his head up a little, and without making eye contact, he answered the merc's question, but with the wording feeling a little sketchy. Was the other male looking for something else then? If so, what could it be? The merc stood there silently, trying to read Valentine's expressions, his movements, but given the limited sight, that wasn't really working out for him. Even if he could see the man clearly, Hans still felt that he would have a hard time reading him, but that alone is enough to tell Hans that this mage has his fair share of secrets, secrets that he keeps ever so tightly to himself.
"Fair enough." Is all Hans would say before turning his head, looking on at the rest of the town, or at least as far as he could see. It was then the mage remembered about the lantern he was holding. The man held it up, and the magical item lit up, with a nice trail of dark smoke surrounding it. If there is no interference from his dark magic, the lantern would further Hans' seeing range, causing him to let out a sigh in relief.
Hans didn't just come outside to question Valentine, but needed a bit of fresh air as well...or at least as fresh as the air could get in this cursed town. Despite the looming threat, everything seemed pretty quiet, and peaceful even. At first, Hans was beginning to relax a bit, but as he thought more about the silence...it caused Hans to tense up a little.
It's quiet....too quiet...
Then came the screeching....
The merc's head perked up at the familiar sounds and gritted his teeth. "Here we go..." he muttered to himself, looking over to Valentine right as he spoke. With a knowing nod, Hans was just about to grab his greatsword until he heard the shadow mage utter a spell. "Hm?" He felt two constructs form on his back, raven's wings crafted of shadows. He once again looked at Valentine as he mentioned what these wings could do before summoning some sort of shadow raven mount. It seems that the merc wasn't the only one with raven themed spells.
"Right." Hans gave another nod just as Valentine took to the skies, and as he did, the merc called out. "Watch out for any traps!" he'd say before glancing back at the house. Right, these beasts couldn't be sensed, so the others might no know of their existence. "Hey, we got incoming!" Hans yelled out, trying to get the attention of the others inside.
With that done, Hans' dark grimoire flew towards his shoulder and opened up before glowing. "Corvi Armis..." A dark aura begins to surround Hans, forming into a solid black suit of armor with dark smoke hanging around it, looking vaguely like black feathers. As he drew his greatsword, two swords of darkness quickly took shape from the dark smoke, one floating on each side of the mage as he started to float a few inches off of the ground thanks to those wings, deciding to remain on the ground level. Hans didn't know what was coming, nor could he sense how strong they were, so the man needed to be prepared...
But then he remembered the last time he came across mana beasts here...
They were not mindless beasts...but children caught in an illusion. Hans hesitated a little at the thought. Brief flashes of what he did to those poor children ran through the man's mind. "No..." He muttered before sinking the dark swords back into the smoke of his armor. But unlike before, Hans couldn't sense these "beasts" so what could that mean?
No....he shouldn't act rashly...not again.
"Barrier." The man summoned three transparent dark barriers, one in front of him, and the other two floating on each side of the dark mage, choosing to play more defensively this time around. The man grit his teeth under his dark helmet, finding it hard to attack, knowing that this could possibly be a trick. "These could be people...children...wrapped in illusions." Hans said, watching at where the screeching was coming from. It was mostly to himself, but if anyone came out just in time, they would've heard him.
This was not going to be easy for the dark mage...

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Despite the situations at hand it felt nice talking with Charlotte and Nanami again, for a small moment it felt like old times before all this darkness. Charlotte was so good at being a mother that the fire mage often forgot she was a magic knight herself not to long ago. When Nanami brought him over to meet her parents, he was caught off guard from all the interesting items she had. Had he not start to reform back the, he probably would have tried to steal some of the stuff she had. But even then he was past that kind of stuff.
Valo kept his eye on Nanami as she continued to have her tea party with the Golden Dawn knight. Valo didn't know this person to well, he seemed powerful and kind enough. It looked like he took a genuine interest in Nanami and her overall wellbeing. He had no reason to be suspicious, but it just felt like an instinct to do so. He saw Nanami as a true little sister, he had half the mind to beat the crap out of some of the people that were throwing things at her. But these same people were the ones they were here to save, so he couldn't go just beating them up. At least not yet. He would turn his attention back to Charlotte, he didn't want to miss out on anything she would have to say.
The other Golden Dawn knight Hinota, she wasn't afraid to ask the really tough questions. Valo nearly wanted to stop her, but he did not that would be foolish. He would always have Charlotte's and Nanami's best interest at heart, but if more information could be gathered to save the entire town then they would need it. Her next question through Valo off for a bit, she had asked if Nanami had lost her life. It sounded crazy. "Tch! Lost her...Are you crazy?" he asked aloud before Charlotte began to answer, but as he heard her response he would quickly bite his tongue. Her guess was right, Nanami did indeed lose her own life. This fact struck hard for the fire mage, he took one look at Nanami. The little girl he swore he would always come to her aid, and it was thanks to a demon that she was still alive.
"I owe a daemon for my daughter's continued existence."
A small flame would ignite over Valo's fist when Charlotte said this, he clenched his tight fist even harder. His anger was beginning to boil, this whole time he thought Nanami had somehow someway been able to remain unharmed. But as it turns out she lost her life from the very beginning. "You owe them nothing!!!" he shouted suddenly, his anger obviously getting the better of him. He wasn't angry with Charlotte or Nanami, it was just the turn of events that he held his anger at. "Do not forget they did this! And I swear, I swear!! I'm going to make them pay. I'm going to end each and everyone one of them." he said fiercely, his tone of voice was full of anger and hatred.
These daemons, these devils, these monsters. Valo's hatred for them grew more and more, with every new bit of information he had learned. Like his element his emotions burned wildly and they were hard to contain. All the people that had been hurt, tortured and lost. The friends and near family that have died because of these daemons. Valo took a deep breath in with his nose, remembering his lessons of meditation. Those same lessons he had hear in Kikka. He learned it to keep him calm, keep him focused. He let out his breath from his mouth. "Sorry." he said simply. He was trying his best to not lose himself in anger, not this time. He couldn't afford to make those same mistakes.
Nanami being the special little girl that she is, was pointing out certain location on her map. She was mainly telling Vulcan, he hoped the Golden Dawn knight had a pretty good memory. But what she said next quickly made his eyes widen, Valo took note of when Hans and the other man had left. He didn't think much of it, but now if danger was heading their way they would be the first ones to get hit. Nanami was able to pinpoint where each mana beast was coming from, just a wicked talent. It was right after that the group should have hard Han's warning. Valo wasted not another step, he gripped his weapon tightly in his right hand. His own small lantern was already increasing his speed drastically. So his movements were fast and quick, he rushed to front door and went outside standing by Hans.
He saw the dark mages reaction, he was ready to fight just like how they trained these past few months. But there was hesitation in his movements, Valo could hear his words he was nervous this attack could be another illusion just like the last time. Valo would place his free hand on Han's armored shoulder to let him know he was right here beside him. "We won't make the same mistakes." he said to his partner. Valo's own grimoire started to glow a feint blue and orange color. Valo wouldn't take the offensive either, instead he decided to use his golems. Three spiraling twists of bright red and orange flames started to form into three long dragons. "Masshiro."
"No one attack! Stay on the defensive! It might be an illusion!"
He would use these golems to defend using a mana tether, he commanded one to stay in front of him and Hans the other two on their left and right side. "If they tear through my golems that should prove it's not illusion. Then we can go on the offensive." Valo said aloud for anyone to hear him, he just hopped no one would go in for a straight attack unless they had their proof these weren't some kind of twisted illusion.

[attr="class","jettcomscroll"] ‘Sir’, it was quite common to be called that now but it was still strange to Jett, often not responding straight away to the title but a quite thought and he glanced to the golden dawn witch. She was right, it was a possibility, there actions seemed chaotic at times but everything seemed to work out almost perfectly for them. Perhaps, it was all pre-planned and laid out to the finest detail before being perfectly executed. The captain could only hope this wasn’t the case but even it if was, Clover knights were the type to just give up. Charlotte would compliment the girl and even make mention she was fit to be an Orca ”She would certainly be an asset. Though we don’t exactly have that same exclusivity appeal that Zaven’s group does.” Jett chuckled, trying to put a lighter note on the entire thing, not really expecting to achieve anything, it would be long before things became serious and dangerous. [break][break] Jett leant his ear to the conversation of Vulkan and Nanami, trying to take away what he could from their conversation to pick up what he could, should the silver haired mage not have a chance to pass on what he knew. It was difficult for the diamond mage though, as Charlotte had a lot to say, emotions were high and her priorities splinted, meaning she was tiptoeing around what she could and couldn’t say. It wasn’t only Jett and Charlotte who lost their cool though, Valo, the young fire mage, unleashing his element in anger after learning that Nanami had lost her life only to be brought back. While Jett under stood his words about owing the deamons nothing, he felt that the gratitude a mother would feel after having their child returned to them was something that went beyond regular logic. ”Things aren’t always so black and white Valo. Your rage isn’t misplaced but, like it or not, Nanami is only alive due to the whims of those devils.” It was then that a sinking feeling surrounded the captain, unaware of the deamons magic or how it worked, he feared that in ending their existence would result in a similar fate to the girl. If that happened to be the case, then there was little they could do, was there a way of winning without striking a final blow? Doubt dulls ones blade, it was a thought he chose to keep to himself, the right answer would surely reveal itself when the time came. [break][break] The captain would approach Nanami afterwards, his ears pricking up upon hearing the Wizard King being mentioned and how she would like to meet him. Crouching down, a little further back as to not crowd the girl, Jett would look the girl in the eyes. ”You know Nanami, the Wizard King is a close personal friend of mine. After this is all over, how about me, you and your mum pay him a visit?” Jett smiled but that smile soon turned to dread upon watching the crude map that she made, pointing out each relevant point of interest, mainly though, his home. Not his home as in Kikka or the Purple Orca base but his actual childhood home that his mum and dad still lived in, the Kikka Library. He wondered to himself if Jagen was aware of this information before the assignments, would he be able to freely move with this dreaded thought in the back of his head? Was his parents even alive? There was too many question circling him without answers but thinking did nothing and it was now time for action. Nanami pointed to her map mentioning that lesser demons were coming and shortly after a call from outside mentioning an incoming. Jett’s grimoire flipped through it’s pages as he stood and made for the exit his magic swelling. ”Diamond Magic: Kavacha!” Streams of diamond dust would pour from the pages of his grimoire, splitting off into smaller streams, surrounding each of the five mages in the house still. ”Grab the lanterns before you leave, this thing starts now!” [break][break] While only inside for a short amount of time, it was enough for Jett to forget just how dark the town was, though the light from the lantern made things a little easier. Despite the call about an incoming, Jett couldn’t see the two mages who were waiting outside, not until he heard a voice from overhead warning that these things could be people. ”Stay alert! We’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it!” Valo stood along side the captain, calming down the mage in sky and summoning golems to use as a means to confirm if their were illusions at play or not.

So far, things sounded bleaker than before, and drawing from past experience, she could only imagine what darker things were held in store for the new group. But she had been so caught up with what Charlotte and Nanami were saying, the shadow mage missed the question that the Golden Dawn healer posed the first time.
"I know this is a tense time but does anyone have communication spells or equipment? It would help us check in with the other group and allow us to share information that we've gathered while perhaps making a plan."
Gen turned to the female knight and nodded. “I do.” She said simply. The pretty mage had a point—it would be wise to communicate with the other group. She had a mind for strategy, something the redhead did not have. The latter reached for her grimoire, but then she frowned slightly. She did not know whether she would even be able to reach them in this ever-shifting field, but she could try regardless. “Who should I contact?” The question was posed more towards the Hinota and Jett, and her hands hovered over her floating grimoire, trails of shadows wisping and curling underneath her fingers.
Even now, Nanami continued to surprise and impress her. They would have been in a dire disadvantage if they did not have her, making the troubles they went through to rescue her seem almost trivial, with all the valuable information she was giving now. After all, knowledge is power, and she was giving them just that.
The shadow mage leaned forward slightly, eyes flickering over the spots that the child pointed out in her map spell. Three very dangerous areas. A shadow palace, presumably built by Sven. Four spots where the remaining wells are located. The female daemon at the Purple Orca base, and unsurprisingly, the male at the library, or someplace of the sort.
Ito.
Clear grey eyes steeled themselves, hardening as Genesis took in all the information. She would not deny that she also has unfinished business with that particular daemon. Well, it was more about questions than business. Overall, he confused her...and intrigued her. Non, non. This will not do. She must not get sidetracked by her personal agenda. There were lives at stake here, history that was to be rewritten. She must concentrate. Concentrate.
Nanami went on to point out the moving things on her map. They were approaching the house. There was not a moment to waste, as terrible screechings filled the air. Goosebumps. It was just like the first time, all over again. The Purple Orca captain had thrown a defense spell around the five still in the house, and Gen felt the diamond dust come into effect as she grabbed her lantern and rushed outside.
“Ten incoming! All sides!” She shouted at the dark mage, gleaned from the information Nanami showed on her map. Hans seemed to have sprouted some wings. Shadow wings? When and where did he get that? Must be from Sir Vincent-Valentine, that other shadow mage. Interesting.
Seeing how the captain, Hans, and Valo had their area taken care of, she went to the side, to an area that was not yet covered. However, she still kept within sight of the others, and took note of their positions. North, south, east, west. Surrounded on four sides, all around. They were trapped.
Perfect time to fight.
Kind of.
Gen tapped the gem on her wrist three times, and immediately, amethyst smoke poured out of her bracelet. As soon as the smoke cleared, there stood two of her dragon golems, beautiful and deadly. They stood at 20 feet tall and 9 feet across, taking up most of the empty space outside the house. The mage hopped onto one of them, and if there was any who was coming to fight in her area, would allow them to join her on the back, if they so desired.
It seemed like Valo was of the same mind, and she watched as the summoned dragons filled the air. Just like his warning, she was also cautious, since these incoming beasts might be illusion-cloaked children or other innocents. Using her mana tether, she sent her other golem further out to the edge of her range, using it like a ‘barrier’ of sorts, hoping that whatever incoming monster would hit that one first. She had no defense, but she would sacrifice one of her dragon golems to get hit first. Hopefully, the illusion—if any—would drop. If not, at least she could be certain that they were indeed creatures to be killed. Only then would she command it to go on the offense.
Gen now stood warily on the back of her pale amethyst dragon, hovering a few feet above the ground. The lantern lit up the area around her. It was very helpful, but she wondered if it would actually attract those beasts towards her. As a precaution, she had her dragon golem hold it with its mouth. Worse case scenario, she would jump off and use the golem as a decoy, with the lantern as a lure. Shadows flickered in and out near her hands, but she did not form any weapons. Not yet. She kept a wary eye out towards the darkened streets, waiting for their enemies to come upon them.
They were coming.
Notes & Stuff
Items:Enigmatic Sentry, Daemonic Gifts + Lantern from Charlotte Summary: Genesis answered Hinota’s question and offered her communication spells, listened to rest of convo, heard the warnings, got Jett’s defense and buff, grabbed lantern, went outside to a different side then Hans and Valo and Jett, summoned two dragon golems from bracelet, hopped on one dragon (someone could also ride behind her if wanted), sent the other one ahead like a ‘barrier’, place be looking like Berk with all the dragons flying around.

Using ammo rules more of these dragons can be created capping at 4 as this is an intermediate spell and is able to carry two persons on their back.
